*FINAL* 2025 NHL MOCK DRAFT! (COMPLETE Top 50 Picks)

ladies and gentlemen the time has arrived today I’m going to be making my final 2025 NHL mock draft now there’s been quite a bit of movement since my post Combine mock draft we started to learn a lot more about which teams are liking which players we’ve had Bob McKenzie’s final rankings come out which gives us a good idea of which prospects could go where as well as the Rangers giving up their top 15 pick and making the Penguins have back-to-back picks inside the first round and there’s gonna be a lot of changes within the mock trap not even just with different players but also we’re going from the top 32 picks to the top 50 going through a ton more teams and a ton more picks so make sure you guys watch till the end as we go through every single pick in the top 50 today with all the reasonings and prospect analysis and make sure you hit that subscribe button if you’re new for more hockey prospect content just like this throughout the 2025 draft process and beyond y’all already know as soon as the 2025 draft is over we’re going to be putting out an early 2026 mock draft that’s just how we do it here now I don’t want to waste much time with the picks that we already know are going to happen first off we go into first overall in the New York Islanders they will end up selecting Matthew Schaefer for so many critical reasons Schaefer looks like the top pairing defenseman of the future for the Islanders in a lot of ways with them shopping players like Romanov and Dobson they need somebody to come in eat minutes and do it effectively schaefer does that for you at second overall we go into the San Jose Sharks and they’ll have the easy decision to make at least in my opinion in Michael Misa there has been some rumors that Anton Frenell could be the pick here but I think the Sharks just go best player available and get a quality second line center behind Mlin Celebrini and that is understating it but I will say this I don’t think Anton Frenell will have to wait long to hear his name called at third overall I see the Blackhawks taking him at number three we’ve had heard some rumors that the Blackhawks are shopping this third overall selection but I do think they’ll end up keeping it selecting for Indell and getting a great complimentary physical forward that can especially in the power play just bang in goals consistently now going on to fourth overall in the Utah Mammoth this is where things get silly in the draft it seems like one two and three are pretty much locked in at this point but at fourth overall even though I mocked different players like Brady Martin in the past to Utah I think at this selection the more I think about it I think it will be Caleb the smooth skill the the opportunistic style the smarts that he has and bringing the size that he also brings as well i think Utah will be very attracted to a player like this they might end up dropping down in the draft maybe to six or seventh overall and maybe that’s a selection where they’re willing to go for Brady Martin but I think at fourth overall is just a bit too much of a reach for them and I think Denoi will end up being the pick at fifth overall in the national predators I think they’re going to want to go up for another player up the middle here but go for some premium skill and ultimately I think they’ll end up selecting Jacob Bryant who’s one of my favorite centers in this year’s class he’s a bigger center but doesn’t really use it all too much and that might be the biggest knock against him but I think the creativity the skill the speed all that in conjunction is just so much fun to watch the high-end plays he’s able to create for his teammates are exceptional and I think especially for a team like the Perez they need more pace pushers like O’Brien guys that can just have eyes in the back of their head consistently o’brien is one of the best creators and playmakers in this year’s draft at sixth overall in the Philadelphia Flyers and I think honestly with this recent Trevor Zagger trade it’s made it even more confident to me to select James Hagens in this position now of course I think in Ziggress’s case they want him to be a centerman but I think what it signals to me is that they aren’t afraid to take smaller centers and that’s really been the case i mean Jet Lutenko isn’t exactly a mammoth by any means in his case he’s a smaller forward though is able to make up for it with great defensive acumen in James Hagen’s case I think they’re going to want to go for top end skill here top end potential brady Martin is a candidate as well as Porter Martone but at this point you take the best player available just like they do with Matthew Mitchkov and see the results follow at number seven though I think this will be the position that Brady Martin ends up going to the Boston Bruins i think it just makes sense if Martin were to fall past Utah i do think he ends up falling to that number seven spot and for Boston he is exactly what they want more of that physicality the intensity he brings and even though I’m not the biggest fan of his skating stride or the top end skill I think he’ll be a great complimentary third line center i think he’ll be great in that role intense and put up some pretty good points in the playoffs which for a team like Boston trying to replicate that Florida Sam Bennett mold that’s the best way to do it on to eighth overall in the Seattle Kraken and typically in the modds I’ve always somehow had Matty Murka falling into the Seattle Kraken’s laps but not anymore folks because at eighth overall I see the Seattle Kraken taking Porter Martone even though Mortone was ranked third overall by Bob McKenzie recently and that is a good sign of optimism for potentially a top five pick I still think teams once the draft has started are going to be prioritizing Setterman like we see at 765 four especially even three i think Chicago might want to look at Fundell as a center potentially that leaves a player like Marton who even though he has big size doesn’t use all the time i think teams are going to be a little bit more worried about that for for a team like Seattle they have typically always taken most interesting forward available and in Marton’s case if he’s available I think they take him especially with the skill he’s able to provide with that size he’s something that could become a great power forward but even if he doesn’t the skill set is radiant and I think especially for a team like Seattle at eighth overall he’ll take that every day maybe Murka is more of a need but Martone is a fantastic player but then that leaves us with the ninth overall pick and the Buffalo Sabres and at this spot I think this is where Ratty Murka is going to fall i really don’t see Murka getting past the 10th overall pick especially all these teams Seattle Buffalo Anaheim I think they all would adore a player like Granny Murka and even though there might be a specific situation like Seattle maybe liking a player like Mone instead even if that happens I still think the next team up is going to get Murka anyways and that leaves Buffalo who needs more players like this big size big physicality but is smart in the way he plays especially with his stick he’s very sound defensively especially against the rush plus with his size his skating ability is pretty underrated and in transition he’s shown some good moments here and then i think for a team like Buffalo adding to that right side of the defense is priority and getting a play like Ratty Murka is an excellent ad for the future and that leads us on to number 10 and the Anaheim Ducks and in this position I think they’re going to end up taking Roger McQueen honestly for all these three teams Seattle Buffalo and Anaheim I think they get the exact player they want in this year’s draft it’s just how the cookie crumbles this time around and in Anaheim’s case McQueen is going to be exactly what they want more of they just traded Trevor Zaggress they they don’t want all this skill this fancy stuff even though McQueen of course can bring that with his deing ability they want to add some size mcqueen is going to be adding some size even though my problem with him is that I want to see him be more physical i want to see him discern himself more i think in Anaheim system they’ll worry about that later they’ll go for something you can’t teach being 6’5 i am really sad that I just said that out loud but guarantee it’s going to be part of Anaheim’s reasoning now moving on to the Pittsburgh Penguins outside the top 10 now because of the Rangers giving up their pick the Penguins have back-to-back selections 11th and 12th overall which I think will really make them and give them a little more freedom to pick their favorite out of the forward and defensive crop which means I think the Penguins will end up selecting Victor Ecklund and Jackson Smith now I think out of anybody I I think both of these players honestly win because of the situation because it gives the Penguins a little bit more freedom to pick who they want in Victor Ecklund’s case I think he’s going to be a great Penguin there even though he is a smaller player the intensity the board battle winning he is just such an efficient player all over the ice especially in front of the net he’s going to be a dog for the Penguins and will be kind of in that Brian Rust mold i think especially for Ekkan it’s going to be a great play situation we’ve heard the Penguins really love him they took him out to a bunch of dinners apparently got a ton of meetings with him so I would not be surprised if he’s the pick jackson Smith as well same situation it seems like the Penguins absolutely adore this guy plus of course committed to Penn State University so they get to see him in their backyard basically throughout his entire career in the NCAA but the high-end pace the high-end playmaking i think the Penguins are going to be adoring a player like that and adding them to the defense i mean same similar situation I would say to an Owen Pickering where they’re going for a bigger defenseman who needs to learn how to use that size but I think for the Penguins they’re fine teaching that later in their careers and just getting the talent that Smith provides that leaves us with the Detroit Red Wings and pretty often I predicted Victor Ecklund to be available at that spot and for them to end up selecting him but because of this the Penguins end up selecting him instead ultimately I think the Red Wings will end up going for Kon Aes adding to the left side of the defense and adding some heaviness to the left side of the defense the physicality the electricity this guy is going to be such a fun Red Wing with the amount of characters and personalities they already have on that team a player like Adrien is going to fit right in at 14th overall in the Columbus Blue Jackets this is a player that I honestly would not be surprised to see around this range maybe even a little bit higher when it’s all said and done and that is Justin Carbono i feel like his name kind of gets a little bit underrated when it comes to the top end skill forwards of this class 10-1 situations on the rush Carbono is one of the best out there and especially for teams looking for that extra goal scorer on the wing there’s very few options that are more efficient than Carbono has been especially this last year in the QMJHL 46 goals 89 points just an absolute beast and look at Columbus a team that could use a little bit more juice on the right side of the wing and he’s somebody especially with the goal scoring of how many playmakers they have coming up carbon is going to be a great finisher but also somebody that can create on the rush in transition which I think is going to be important for a team like Columbus and on to 15th overall in the Vancouver Conucks this is a pick that I am still going to keep going forward and that is Braden Coots to me he it just makes so much sense for this Vancouver team apparently they also met a ton of him at the combine really loved him as well which isn’t much of a surprise but I think Coots just fits so well with what Vancouver needs the intensity the work ethic the ability to create and anticipate the play that is happening in front of him and really before it even happens coots is just so good at creating turnovers putting himself in the right positions to just put himself out there and get results i would say kind of like a Bo Horvat is just so smart in the way he plays up the middle and I think especially for a team like Vancouver they need more of Braden Coots in their lineup now let’s move on to the Montreal Canadians and their back-to-back picks in this year’s draft unfortunately for them I think Justin Carbono would have been automatic for them at this first selection but because he’s drafted to Columbus they have to look elsewhere but I don’t think they’ll look too far they’ll go for Carter Bear out of the Everett Silver tips who I think is going to be a great fit for this Habs team if you’re looking for just a dynamic third line wing for the future somebody that brings a ton of goal scoring a ton of grit around the boards Bear is just a perfect example of that kind of again similar to a Coots more of a goal scorer but just on the wing i think Bears is just going to be super successful in the Hab system and in the limited ice time he’ll get he’ll make the most of it and of course with the Habs second pick I think no matter who they go at number one as a wing they’ll likely go for a defenseman and I think it will be Logan Hensler they love their Badgers and I think Kendler is going to just be a solid complimentary second pair of defenseman on that right side somebody that skates well and especially with the confidence growing over the course of the season I think he’s somebody that can move the puck a lot more efficiently than people have been letting on he’s someone that I think is just going to very safe dependable but also skillful defenseman with his skating and how he presents himself out there a good first pass out of the defensive zone as well i think he’s just going to be a more quiet but capable defenseman that just logs minutes and gets the job done for the Havs let’s move on to the Calgary Flames here at 18th overall another pick that like Vancouver and Coots I think is pretty much locked into this point if Cole Rashnney is available I just think for Calgary it makes so much sense yes he’s a smaller forward but my goodness the intensity the work ethic the leadership on the ice this guy is just such a dog out there but leads by his skill knows exactly what he’s capable of and can just dazzle you out there with his high-end moments a brilliant WHL season this last year great at the World Juniors you’re looking for some pace and some intensity in that pool on top of the skill calgary is going to be adding a good center here now let’s move on to number 19 and the St louis Blues this is one that I went back and forth on but I do think they’ll ultimately end up selecting a winger and I think they’ll end up going for Linen Lakovic i think he will drop a little bit in this year’s draft just because even though he brings some big size he rarely uses it to his advantage that is a major thing that I think will go against him in his in his case especially in this year’s draft but my goodness the stick handling the creativity up the ice how he’s able to work off of defenders and make them look absolutely silly lacovich just has unbelievable high-end moments i think especially for a team like St lewis that could use a little more pop on the wing lacovich is exactly what the doctor ordered now going on to Columbus and the 20th overall position they just selected Justin Carbono a wing on their first pick secondly though I think they’ll go for a defenseman and go for Blake Fidler now I think Logan Hensler would be the perfect fit for what Columbus needs and how many minutes they could give him going forward but I think Blake Fidler is just going to do just fine i mean even though he’s a pretty similar defenseman I would say to a Charlie Ell who they selected in last year’s draft I do think Fidler has a little bit more potential in the 200 foot game especially on the offensive side of his shot but I think Columbus is going to love the size going to love how he uses it how responsible he can be but also how much potential there is with his maturity because it’s been growing over the course of the season but he just needs to unlock that more and more get a little bit more consistent all around so I think for a team like Columbus that prides itself on the development they’ve already done some great jobs over there and especially how many players they draft from the WHL i just think it’s a great fit at 21st overall and the Ottawa Senators this is a team that has been all over the place when it comes to their drafting ultimately like I predicted last time I think that it will end up going for Shane Van Saki i think they need some depth on the right wing and Van Saki I think is just going to be such a simple refined third line forward for the Ottawa Centers going forward the bang and crash game how good he is around the net especially as a netfront presence on the power play i think the Sanders are going to love just how simple he plays the game how much he knows how much of a physical force he is and I think the Sanders are just going to go for it and at 21st overall I think it’s a solid pick not the pure upside swing they might need in that pro pool but this is the Sanders we’re talking about they don’t typically do that on to 22nd overall in the Philadelphia Flyers they just ended up sucking James Haggins and I think they’ll go for another center though a much different one I would say in Jack Nesbbit who seems to be a highriser in this year’s draft and the physicality and the positioning all over the ice I think is pretty refined at this point i think Nesbbit is just going to be a solid fourth line center or at least that’s my read on him i think for the Flyers they’re looking at him more as a third line center of the future somebody that can get a lot of defensive matchups and and look pretty good at it with his physicality i just don’t see a lot of big offensive upside here but if Nesbbit logs a ton of games is good in your defensive zone and is able to play the penalty kill then it’s not the worst pick in the world though I think for the Flyers at this spot they’ll go for a little bit lesser upside after the big upside swing in Hagens moving on to 23 and the Nashville Predators second pick in this first round they went for a center in Jake O’Brien before i think they’re going to go for a wing here and go for Malcolm Spence another one in the OHL now going to the University of Michigan next year spence I think is just going to be a great complimentary piece in their middle six drives play well is intense defensively it just brings a lot of maturity to the game there might be some issues in terms of the long-term upside but in the 20s at this range I think you’re getting a future NHLer i think for the press it’ll be good enough after a pretty big upside swing in O’Brien before now 24th overall I think Spence would have been the guy the Kings will be going after 100% but because he’s taken instead I think they’re going to go for Bill Zanin a big-time center/wing out of the QMJHL even though I have my issues with his skating speed my goodness the responsibility in is on its game how good he is off the puck how good he is in anticipating the play and driving play when he does have it on his stack he’s just such a responsible and collected and calm player in all respects and I think for a team like the Kings he projects pretty well into their bottom six going forward again not an overwhelmingly hype pick or anything but I think Zan is going to play a lot of NHL games and be a fan favorite for the Kings as he does everything so well on to the Chicago Blackhawks and this was a pick that I kind of went on a limb at in my postcombine mock draft but since then has actually had a lot of smoke to it i think the Chicago Blackhawks will end up taking Vakab Nestil now they already took of course Anton Frenell at third overall but Nester especially up the wing on the right side brings a ton of size and even though Fondell is big and has a lot of meat on the bone Nester is kind of a different story where he’s tall but lanky and has so much skill this guy can drive a line so effectively with his deing ability and his one-on-one situations this guy can do so much with what he’s able to create and what he’s able to think up of in his head there is so much to love here especially around the net how he’s able to use his body against so many compet competitors to just will his way around the net and it’s just so much fun to watch there is a lot of potential but of course a big boomer type of upside here if he’s not able to fill out or get that decision-making a little bit farther ahead then it might not be what the Blackhawks want but if he does pop this guy could be something special now at 26th overall we go into the National Predators yet again they went for O’Brien they went for Spence this time I think they’re going to go on to the defensive side of things i think they will end up selecting Henry Brewitz now this is a sad one because I think he is the absolute perfect fit for the San Jose Sharks in their late first round pick but because of how weak this draft is after the top end right D of players like Murka Hensler and Blake Fidler even a Cameron Reed perhaps I think we’re going to see some right D really be reached upon now Bruce I still think is very solid but more so in my 30s 40 range in the draft ranking but still I think for a team like the Predators needing some more juice up the right side of the defense they’re going to look for a play like Bruce who has a pretty great shot can be good in transition has good anticipation to play and the confidence is absolutely there with how good he was in the Memorial Cup for the London Knights playing huge minutes and doing pretty well with it i think the Predators are going to like him quite a bit i do want to see his defensive game a little bit more refined and using that physical game a lot more because he can lay out some pretty big hits but for the Pred I think you’re going to look at the potential here and get a pretty interesting project at 27th overall we’re going to go into the Washington Capitals and I’m going to go for the same player I believe I mocked them last time and Benjamin Kendall who I just think for the Caps is something that will end up dropping a little bit in this draft but they’re going to go for some high-end potential here man i mean in Kindle’s case there might be some concerns about the skating and how good it is for his size but I absolutely adore the way Kindle plays how creative he is in every single shift and even though I want to see his physical game come a little bit further I want to see him get a little bit more strong especially that’s I think the biggest thing that could hold him back when he’s at his best when he has just a little bit of space to work with this guy is unbelievable and I think the Caps are very willing to take that risk we have a prospect pool that already has a ton of risky players that are starting to turn out pretty well at number 28 we’re going to go to another one that I mocked before in William Moore going to the Winnipeg Jets i just think for the Jets they need some more center depth up the middle some more responsible center depth and in Mo’s case I think he will round out as just a decent fourfiner nothing all too special but he’s able to feel a little bit more a little bit more confident that maybe there’s something there he has a decent shot to him as well so he’s not devoid of skill i just want to see him apply it a lot more than he does at number 30 we go on to the Carolina Hurricanes they always like to make some big swings in the first round and I think they will do that yet again going for Denil Proarov now they did the same thing a similar pick I would say to the Bradley Nado selection where they went for somebody a little bit off the board who was a big-time goal scorer procarov absolutely is that you’re if you’re looking for big time my goodness 6’6 218 pounds one of the most physical players of this draft while also having some great goalcoring instincts that’s really the bulk of his game to me and that’s kind of the reason why I’m not too high on him because even though he does bring the big hits and has some big goals there’s not much more pace beyond that but I think for a team like the Canes who wants to get stronger this offseason wants to get a lot bigger Brokerov could do the job once he’s able to come over at number 30 we go on to the San Jose Sharks and even though I think their Bruce is taken away which is sad because of course both him and Sammy Dinensson were linemates throughout the entire season for London I think they will go for a different right defenseman and honestly I think go for a better one in Cam Reed of the Kitchener Rangers now even though he is a left defenseman I I think in Reed’s case he just projects so well to the Sharks especially if they could trade a player like Luka Kagnoni in the future it opens up a lot of opportunity for a player like Reed still the right side is a bit of a question mark but at this point 30th overall I think the Sharks are just going to go for best player available especially on the defensive end reed just thinks the game so well especially with his game in transition he has quite a bit of speed to him on top of that and I think especially for how much the Sharks are building with their forward group to get guys like Reed that can move the puck effectively is going to be vital and Reed does a great job at it at 31st overall we’re going to go to another one that’s pretty predictable I would say onto the Philadelphia Flyers who have already had a couple of picks i think they’re going to go for a goender this time around and Joshua Ravensburgen if there’s any goalender selected in the first round it’s going to be Ravensburg and even though I don’t think really National makes too much sense they already have Sorrowos i don’t think they would draft a goalie in the first round philly makes all the sense in the world you do have a polyerson who I think could be an NHL goalender but still has a ways to go why not get yourself even more security or even more options to make it ravensburgger with that size it’s a big hallmark of his game you could see how it turns out not where I would draft him but it seems like an inevitability at this point at 32 and the Calgary Flames this is going to be an interesting one they already drafted Cole Rashny in their first round selection they’re going to have a second one here from the Matthew Kachchuck trade i think they’ll end up selecting defenseman Sasha Bumadine now I could see him going a little bit higher than this but I think again there’s going to be some players prioritized instead i think moving in with his skating ability and some of the skill he’s able to present there’s times in flashes where he actually looks pretty good i think there are times though where I want to see more quicker decisions want to see the pace of play even more refined but I think there’s a good base to build on here and especially for a flame team that has a lot of projects coming up on the defense but we need is another one just like that now getting us started in the second round this recording has taken so long that it’s gone into the next day but we’re going to be getting into the first pick here in the second round and going to the San Jose Sharks who I think will select Milton Gastrine at this spot now they already went after Michael Misa and of course they went after a defenseman in Cameron before i think Gastri makes a lot of sense though because the versatility in his game he can be a center he can play a wing i think in the Shark system he’s more likely to be a winger which with how good his forcheing is how good he uses physical body I think could be a pretty interesting fit plus the transition upside how good he can be in one-on-one situations there’s a lot of skill to tap into here and I think especially in the second round it’s great value once again similarly to the Misa pick and the Cameron Reed pick Sharks just going best player available and eventually I think that’ll work out pretty well for them on to the 34th overall pick and in Chicago’s case a big theme of this draft is trying to get stronger and bigger they go after Antonell they go after Blackclav Nestil with their late firstrounder on to 34th overall i think they’re going to select out of the NCP and now University of Michigan William Horov who I think could be a really interesting fit in the Blackhawks pool who I don’t think has many true translatable bottom six centers of the future they’ve drafted quite a few centers but I think they’ll mostly be topline top six type of players in Horov’s case I think he’s going to be a third line fourth line center but be a very efficient one with his strength with his physical prowess how good he is at using his body to protect the puck he’s going to be someone that can drive the net well and just make things simple for a lot of those skilled players on the ice and just banging a bunch of goals that get set up now at 35th overall and the Nashville Predators I know when we talked about their first round picks the talk about them potentially taking a goalender I wasn’t really too sure but I think in the second round they’re a lot more comfortable to take that type of chance and ultimately I think they’ll select Simeon Frolov i think Froolov is somebody that is going to go pretty high in this draft one of the best Russian one of the best goalenders in this class for sure 6’3″ 203 pounds and somebody that put some pretty decent stats in Russia before of course Nashville is not afraid to draft Russian goalies like they do with Vascarov back in the 2020 draft but I think in Frolov’s case just how compact he is as a bigger goalender is something I think Nashville will especially crave but all these teams in the early second I could easily see Froolov being a big candidate for them andreatov I do slightly prefer but because of his recent contract extension I could see him falling quite a bit in this draft next up we go into the Philadelphia Flyers and they’ve gone all across the board with their draft picks going after James Higgins a smaller center Jack Nesbbit a bigger center then of course getting Joshua Ravensburgger with their last pick in the first i think it’s time for them to select a defenseman and I think they’ll end up going for Jacob Rumbach who I don’t think is going to be available for too long in this year’s draft at 6’6 209 lbs he’s a smooth skating defenseman rarely makes too many mistakes and I think also has some pretty decent offensive upside at least in transition he’s pretty good at getting the puck out of the defensive zone and I think for a team like the Flyers needing some more simplicity and just raw defensive play from their back end Rumbach is pretty perfect for that role at 37th overall we go into the Washington Capitals and they already picked a pretty high upside player in a Benjamin Kindle i think he’s going to go for a very translatable piece going forward in Cole McKini who I think is one of the more underrated names in this class pretty easily a first round candidate for me but I think he will end up slipping to the second i think in McKenny’s case he’s just such an effective and simple bottom six center but unlike a player like Horov I think McKini just brings so much speed and good intight skill he’s competitive he’s fierce and on the forche one of the more effective players I would say in this draft class but just a very solid overall center and I think for the Cavs getting that in that pool would be pretty important especially as I think a pretty dynamic four-flying center for the future now on to 38 overall and the Seattle Kraken they didn’t end up getting the chance to select Ratty Murka before so I think they’ll go for budget Ratty Murka and Max Panika who I think has a pretty decent se floor when it comes to the game he plays 6’5 185 lbs like Murka of course a big check right-handed D playing in the WHL but with the Portland Winterhawks where he got seven points in 24 games I wouldn’t be expecting much offense there but his acceleration is pretty solid he gets on pucks quick and defensively does his job pretty effectively and for Seattle again they need more simplicity in that pool which Ratty Murka would have brought but Max can bring as well on to 39th overall the next couple picks will be players that I think just slip quite a bit that end up eventually getting selected we go into the Buffalo Savers and I think they’re going to end up selecting Eric Nielsen now I hope that Neielson is a first round pick because I think he deserves to be the only big issue to me is the strength and the conditioning which going to Michigan State University is basically the perfect place to enter the gym and gain some muscle but in Neielson’s case I think he’s going to be a very low stakes buyin candidate who’s going to be a big potential added to that pool especially as a setterman neielson brings so much skill so much intensity with the puck on his stick i just love the smarts and the way he drives the game and I think especially for a team like Buffalo they might go a little bit bigger with this selection but at the same time I don’t think they really need to they just got Ronnie Murka want to go for a big upside swing which especially at 39 is an easy pick to make speaking of big upside swings let’s go into the Philadelphia Flyers yet again they’ve gone for a couple picks recently that are filling holes but I think they’re just going to go best player available at this position and go for Colon Potter who I do expect to drop in this draft even though he was around the 20s the early 20s in Bob McKenzie’s recent list I just have a feeling that Potter is going to be a victim of the lack of eyes on him in the NCAA this year especially him as a center some teams I think are going to be worried about him being very lanky being very small as a C and wondering what his future will be like but I think Potter could play C could play wing be effective in both of those roles he’s so quick with his feet so aggressive on the forche especially without the puck he’s such a fast and intense player and on top of that the skill dynamic play is one of the best in this draft class so to get that in a system like Philly I think would be very important add some more pure offensive juice on top of some of the more projectable players they’ve already drafted in this class now we go on to 41st overall and the Montreal Canadians they of course had their mid first round picks getting Hensler and also getting Carter Bear but I think they’re going to add to the wings yet again with this selection and go for Tamas Pletine who brings some pretty big upside as a bigger check forward he’s somebody that I like a lot though with the goal scoring and how he puts himself out there on the ice especially around the net you see this last year in the U20 13 goals 20 points 25 games there’s a lot still that I think is kind of untapped in Politine’s game so I think he’s a pretty big project here but something that I think could eventually become a second power play goalcoring type for the Haps we move on to number 42 and the New York Islanders they already went for a big upside swing getting Matthew Schaefer in the first round i think they’re going to go for another one in Mason West now I could pretty easily see West being a late firstrounder at the very uh most and I think he could be around this range though when it’s all said and done but I think for the Islanders especially this is the exact type of prospect they need to be adding more of big upside also some big size they need more size on the wing especially and Mason West does bring you that but also brings intense skill intense speed with the puck on a stick and I absolutely adore how much potential there is with this guy you of course have the other player who was a high school quarterback contemplating hockey contemplating football that was Anders Lee who actually turned out to be a pretty solid New York Islander so I think West going in that same direction learning from a play like Anders Lee as well those two would be a match made in heaven the 43rd overall and the New York Rangers of course giving up their first round pick means that this is their first selection in this draft and I do think they will go for a centerman and I think they’re going to go for Matthew Guard now I will say this guard I think is a pretty high uh uh floor low upside type of pick but I do think he eventually does play NHL games most likely in a fourflying center role but of course big size 6’4 192 lbs hits pretty well and I think especially on the forche it’s very dialed very calculated and brings a lot of pressure that you want to see he’s a very simple player i don’t think you’re going to be getting much offense out of him but he can pot a few goals here and there got 19 goals in 66 games in the WHL this last year and looked decent at the U8s for Canada so even though I don’t think it’s a high upside pick eventually I think he will be a New York Ranger which at this point I think is what they’re looking for on to the 44th overall pick and the Detroit Red Wings this is another player I could pretty easily see being a late first round pick but again I think is going to be drafted around this range just like Mason West let’s go on to Alexander Sarovski who I think would be very similar to the Demetri Bull Chinikov pick that the Red Wings made a few years back but in Sarovsky’s case you’re looking at high upside play in this guy so much speed so much skill especially up the rush this guy can make so many fancy moves and make it look extremely easy i like Zeroski quite a bit though when it comes to the potential and what he’s able to bring and I think he’ll translate pretty well to the KHL level and eventually onto the NHL even if there is some risk involved there but a great season in the NHL 50 points of 45 games i think for the Rebs at this stage they want to go for some high upside zarovski gives them that especially onto the 45th overall pick in the Anaheim Ducks this is going to be a fascinating selection because I think in a lot of ways this player could go higher he could go way lower than this but this is where I’m going to have Simon Wing who is going to be one of the most interesting players when it comes to where they get drafted in this year’s class you see 6’6″ 209 lbs and skates so incredibly well the big question marks though are of course the rawness and how much he’s actually going to be able to develop in the future but you get a large runway with this player and somebody that I think a lot of teams will want to have because that size and skating ability but you see in the OHL this year not the greatest numbers in the world two points in 32 games but I think there is potential still of Wang to become a depth defenseman in the NHL i think that’s what he is at his best but there is still a really fascinating player to bring on here something that I think could be a pretty big defensive defenseman of the future and if he does pan out could turn out to be pretty good and especially for a team like the Ducks that has so many draft picks so many younger players they can afford to take a long-term swing like this on to 46th overall in the Utah Mammoth let’s go on to another bigger defenseman here in Carter Amo out of the NTDP now also 6’6 but 234 lbs one of the biggest players in this year’s draft in Amo’s case it’s quite unfortunate I would say because he missed a lot of this season due to injury at the start of the year was I thought starting out pretty decent not of course the biggest scoreer in the world but for the NCP I thought brought very good under the radar traits he was super consistent in the defensive zone always got the puck out efficiently and just did his job right i think for a team like Utah you’re looking at a potential seventh sixth defenseman of the future nothing too fancy but I think he’ll play a lot of NHL games because of his physicality and just how smart he is with it on 240 seventh overall and the Vancouver Canucks their second pick in the draft going for a center before I think they’re going to go for Jacob Ice Waznjak at this position another player I could see going higher but in the connects case I don’t think they’re going to let him drop a big time right wing with great goalc scoring instincts i think it’s somebody that they need more of in that pool somebody that can really use his body well can protect the puck and drive the net effectively especially on the power play that’s where Icewak really gets his production going that’s where he’s really at his best with that shot with that deceptiveness he can just be so effective and especially in that Conucks pool you already have a play like Jonathan Lecher has a big time Swedish winging score ice Wniaak can do that on the right side and pretty effectively at that now on to 48th overall in the Philadelphia Flyers yet again another pick inside the top 50 they are stacking them up and I think at this spot they’re going to go for another high upside swing to bring in some more offense into the pool and they’re going to go for Riker Lee something that grew a ton in terms of his height and also his game throughout the course of the season as Michigan State commit he’s something that has really grown on me over the second half of this year you see in the USL fantastic numbers for a draft eligible 68 points in 58 games one of the best goal scorers in the league as well consistently getting in great positions to score i think that’s the big thing for the Flyers here even though he’s not a huge player and there are some times where I want to see a little bit more consistency defensively when he is at his best this guy can do so much for you but play such a smart and I think projectable offensive game i think he’ll fit in pretty easily as just this great third line scorer of the future and getting that in the second round I think it’s pretty good value for them now let’s go into the last couple of picks of the draft and go on to another Montreal Canadian selection here we’ve gone after a couple picks already but I think they’re going to go for a bigger center for the future and go for Theo Stockelius i mean again like we talked about with Anaheim and some other teams that have made a ton of picks Montreal is also in a position to take some swings and Stockelius is definitely a swing he’s a younger player for this draft class as a late July birth date but 6’3″ 196 pounds and even though the rawness is there there are some times where I want to see his skating come a little bit farther and a little bit faster what he’s able to do in the junior 20 this year 22 goals 51 points what he was able to do with the U8s looking also pretty good i think the biggest value for Stockilius is going to be the goal scoring and how he puts himself out there how he gets around the net how he’s able to will his way around opponents that’s what he’s been able to do all season but the big question will be how much is he able to do that against pro players i think adding some more muscle and even more quicker on his skates will be important but if he does turn out I think it could be a pretty decent part of that half bottom six now on to the last pick of this mog draft at 50th overall with the New Jersey Devils and to top us all off let’s go for him with some excitement shall we i think the Devils will end up selecting Ivon Riyabkin and I will say this I mean there’s a pretty big chance that Rykkins slips a lot farther than this i would not be surprised if he’s a third fourth round pick potentially but I think the Devils are one of those teams that just goes for best player available and in Reapkin case I would not be surprised if they love him they of course have drafted a ton of Russians over the past few seasons but in Rapkin’s case he started out as a top five pick this year of course had some big troubles in Russia then went over to the USHL the big thing is the goal scoring the big thing is the power play ability how good he is when he just gets that little bit of space i have my concerns over his work ethic and his actual consistency on the ice but the talent is there it’s just about getting that out of him consistently which has been a bit of an issue but I think for the Devils they will want to add some top end skill to this class and top end goal scoring for them in the future rykin brings that completely down the middle but those are my top 50 predictions for the 2025 NHL draft and you 1. WAKE UP Y'ALL! NEW TOP 50 MOCK DRAFT JUST DROPPED! Let me know your thoughts, what do YOU think of my top 50? And which prospects do YOU think your team will take? #GravGang

  2. As an Islanders fan who loves Lee and would love to get West almost seem like you went for the easy matchup on purpose 😛

My prediction overall for this draft is teams are going to put a preference on toughness so as even you said I can see him being a late first

  3. Maybe it's a little rich, but I hope my Sharks take one of Frolov or Medvedev with pick #53. We need a very good 1B of the future behind Askarov, and they both have decent size and are Russian

  4. Gard over limatov? I get the c prospects are lacking but so is the d. A best case 4c is hard to wrap my head around, especially when most of us expected to leave with a guy like aitchesson before the pick was given up

  5. I'm not a pro scout by any stretch, so i try to refrain from getting too attached to any specific players that I think my team should pick. That being said, I'll be disappointed if the Pens walk away from the first round with two picks and don't draft a Center with one of them.

  6. Question Grav……Who would you pick to pull a Caufield in this years draft ? Someone who is on most top 5-10 list that would fall to say 15-20 instead ?

  7. The Ducks already have a better version of McQueen named Carlsson and they're already set down the middle in their top 6 for years to come so I'm not sure they go that direction.

  8. Pittsburgh is in a great situation. They don't need to trade up, because they're guaranteed to get either Jackson Smith and one good forward, or two good forwards from the following group: McQueen, Eklund, Bear, Carbonneau.

  9. as a flyers fan. i would be ok with this outcome. 6th pick is most important and hagens is a dream. other picks…potential is great. potter was nice one that late. most likely flyers will trade and dont have this many picks at 1-2 round.
