Royals hitting coach Alec Zumwalt is (allegedly) DM’ing people on Twitter. Says he is fueled by the hate. (Per Braiden Turner on X)

  1. If Zumwalt initiated this conversation he’s a loser. If Turner cut off his initial message from the screenshot, he’s a loser for DMing the guy in the first place

  2. If this is real (and I’m fairly certain it is), this is a very royals thing. Well, as someone that now lives near Cleveland… This is a Brown’s type thing

  3. Kinda funny this probably has a better chance of getting him fired than the on field performance

  4. Dude is lucky to have a job with how ass our hitting has been. I wouldn’t rock the boat by doing dumb shit like this

  5. Apparently the original person should be even more negative bc the whole drive is faltering as we speak

  6. It’s a fairly modern thing to think being “fueled” is a good in and of itself, and-or will eventually lead to success. I suppose a broke clock is right twice a day, but by and large, one can be fueled to do all sorts of things that are bad, or are neutral. For instance, if the Royals gave me a one year contract I would certainly be fueled to succeed, but I would not, in fact, succeed. I won’t say I’d be a worse hitting coach, however…

  7. As a long time Twitter urchin, my approach has always involved not @’ing org people. If they want to block me, like Nicky Lopez and Ryan O’Hearn did, they have to vanity search and I don’t actively complain because most athlete Twitter feeds are a bit lame anyways and complaining about blocks is a bit lame too.

I also haven’t had org people DMing me (not sure how many of them I actually follow). Only time I had to deal with something was in July 2013 but that tapered off quick and I don’t hold it against Danny Duffy.

If you’re an athlete or a public sports figure, there isn’t a reason to have a non-burner Twitter account.

bturner23 being the guy getting this heat is sorta funny though

  8. I wish him no ill will and a position or specialist coach in any pro spot is a fickle thing. But if true, this is a really bad look

  9. Wow, this is how you know it’s coming… cat is on social media when he should be working overtime…

  10. So, we consistently either sign or call up good talent, then they get here and within a week can’t hit shit. Then we give up, trade them for prospects and suddenly they know how to hit again. What do they all have in common?
