I never truly understood the emotion behind stuff like this until I had a kid. It was always obvious to me it comes from the pride and joy that this person you love accomplished their dream, but it’s not just that. It’s the whole journey. You remember the day this person was born. You remember the days where you could basically hold this person in the palm of your hand. You’re there for all of the successes and failures. All that has lead to this moment…. yea I’d be hyped as fuck if I was him too.
It’s scenes like this that I love more than anything else about the NBA Draft. Especially when it’s a second round draft pick and the draftee still has to go out there and earn it. You ee how much it means to the family.
