jj Purka has just been traded to the Utah Mammoth in exchange for Michael Kessler and Josh Don i’m very surprised that the Sabres are moving on from him he’s only 23 and has already been making waves as a topline forward the Mammoth are hungry to inject scoring punch into their offense purka’s speed hockey IQ and offensive upside make him an ideal fit for Utah this is perfect timing for the Mammoth since he just had an incredible season with the Sabres where he had 68 points in 77 games it was very impressive that 21 of his 27 goals were at even strength this is why I don’t understand why the Buffalo Sabres are trading him he’s not even in his prime yet and he just had his best season and he’s only going to continue to get better from here i think he’s going to fit in perfectly with this hungry Mammoth team that’s trending upwards this trade will for sure help the Mammoth to compete for a wild card spot in the Western Conference maybe they will surprise everyone by making the playoffs last season Purka showed everyone that he has a lethal shot he can rip it off the rush wire it from the circle and he’s deadly around the net this is a guy who isn’t afraid to shoot and when he does goalies notice his release is deceptive and powerful and that’s exactly what Utah’s power play needs he can play on the half wall or rotate through the bumper spot and his shot gives Utah a real weapon to make teams pay don’t be surprised if he becomes their leading power play goal scorer in his first season with them but most importantly Purka has proven that he could produce consistently at even strength this is exactly what the Mammoth needed to take the next step and the best part about all of this is that Purka just signed a 5-year contract with the Mammoth for $7.7 million per year purka is only getting better every season and Utah might be the perfect place for him to take another step forward this trade isn’t just about a fresh start it’s about giving a rising sniper the opportunity to be part of a winning team don’t be surprised if he gets 30 goals and 80 points in his first season with Utah if you enjoyed this video subscribe to my channel
