πŸ”΄ LIVE: Miami Marlins vs Arizona Diamondbacks ⚾ MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL LIVE πŸ“» WBC THE SHOW πŸ™

out dropped a slider on him and just an easy little popup over to third base and here is Catel Marte with a warm reception from the Diamondback fans many of who are wearing pink shirts today and he takes his helmet off salutes the fans two taps on the chest for dicks back into the box always better when you’re playing at home things are always better little home cooking let’s see if he can electrify this crowd even more he’s been unbelievable this month had a fantastic road trip hit over 400 well now the first pitch to him from the left side is taken all the way for a generous strike count is 0 and one it looks like Jim Mo strikes zone is us to the the outside part of the plate to left-handed hitters now the 01 and could tell takes way off the plate one ball and one strike 15 homers 32 driven in he appears headed to his third All-Star game in his second straight start barring a shocking turnout in the vote as now a breaking ball dropped in there at the knees at count one and two pretty good curveball you know it’s a really good pitch for Perez hitters only hitting 214 against that with only a 214 slug one out nobody on bottom of the first inning and the one-two swings and fouls it to stay alive candy it’s not just good stuff from Perez but at 6’8 it’s coming down at an angle that a lot of these hitters probably aren’t used to just a big kid long legs nice loose flexible arm yeah that ball can get on you a one-two pitch outside two and two the count when he made his major league debut a couple years ago Perez looked a bit more like a praying mantis he’s now with his time to rehabilitate his arm put on a little bit of muscle as this two- two pitch inside lookout 100 miles an hour and that’s going to fill up the count three balls two strikes
well one of the things that he’s going to have to battle right now I mean no question the stuff is there the fast ball’s going to play but it’s the walks and if you could be patient with him he’s walking 5.40 guys per nine innings that’s an awful lot three balls two strikes swan out and the payoff to Catel swung on grounded sharply but to second it is clubed by Edwards he goes to first in time and now there are two outs for Paving Smith now Catel just a little bit over the top of that fast maven starting to see the home runs come back be part of his game he’s got now eight on the year 25 RBI’s the average up to 273 and now he digs in pitch timers reset and Perez on the first base side of the rubber into his wind up first pitch and Paven takes slow at 98 for ball one he’s one of these pitchers that is a nice slow easy delivery and the ball pops out of his hand one a swing and miss and they count now at one and one you see some guys with that violent delivery that get that leg up they herky jerk they step as far as they can with their stride and but Perez a little bit different nice and easy and slow and then it just pops
one-1 swinging a bouncing ball foul right side the count now one and two haven prior to that road trip in 65 games with the Diamondbacks had a total of five home runs he comes back now having collected three including two in the series opening win against the White Socks as this one-two pitch swung on and miss perez gets his first strike out and the inning comes to an end so both pitchers with a one two three first and we make our way into the second no score diamondbacks and Marlins on the Morgan and Morgan Dbags
let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term today’s phrase is oppo taco do you know what it means ao taco a home run hit to the opposite field
boston with an oppo taco his 13th and it’s a one-run game
expand your vocabulary by listening to every game on the MLB app and MLB.com moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921 smith courts one into right down the line it may go go crazy folks go crazy it’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game behind the score of three to two on a home run by the Wizards catch the next unforgettable call on the MLB app and MLB.com take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager sends the following

daniel’s Jewelers is the official sponsor of the trip around the diamond stop by any Daniels locations and say home run for your free team bracelet and $50 gift card toward any purchase of $99 or more and at Daniel’s Jewelers everyone is approved for credit daniel’s Jewelers own the dream back skipper Tory Lavell talks with Burns and Gambo Friday afternoons at 2:30 on Arizona Sports 987 in the Arizona Sports app feeding off for the Marlins it is rookie catcher Austinine Ramirez first pitch Kelly starts him off with a strike like maybe a cutter on the outside third the count nothing and one ramirez is 6’1 210 lb catcher 23 years old a very young roster for Miami as the 01 swung on and missed down now no balls in two strikes came into this season as the number four prospect in the Marlins top 30 that according to MLB.com the O2 pitch kelly missed just a little bit low could have been called one ball and two strikes the count guy has some serious power this is only his 26th game he’s got 12 homers as the one two swung on and grounded foul third base side still a ball in two strikes you can almost tell by his stance cuz he really gets in a very loaded position you know almost not quite like a catcher squatting but he’s down there almost like a middle linebacker getting ready for a play and he just explodes off that backside
swing and a miss swung right through a fast ball and now backto-back strikeouts for Kelly going back to the first inning
oh nice pitch by Merillo just got that just a seeking fast ball a little bit up in the zone but really just power against power and he beat him so there’s one down for Kyle Sters like Ramirez behind him I suppose in front of him tied for the team lead with 12 home runs first pitch swung on that’s a high fly ball not very deep left center slicing towards Guriel and now in the gap he makes the catch and just like that you get the strike out and then you get a second out one pitch later
nothing better than that nothing when you can keep your pitch count down early in the game that means normally you’re going to get deep into the game but it’s the pitchers that struggle early on trying to get their rhythm their tempo trying to find their zone those are the ones that really struggle getting through six innings not Merryill right now first pitch down to Eric Wagaman is taken for a strike down is nothing and one who knows Candy maybe Mel Kelly heard what Sunny Gray did today for the Cardinals and that’s the leader in the clubhouse an 89 pitch complete game shutout as now the 01 is outside one ball one strike count
see it can be done and that’s with 11 punch outs too i mean that’s pretty impressive
but how do you get a shut out when you don’t go third time through the order i haven’t looked at the box score as now the 1-1 and a little bit outside two balls one strike the Diamondbacks swept the Marlins when these teams met in Lone Depot back in the middle of April wagamin had a decent showing as a 2-1 is outside again kelly’s now tugged on three of the four fast balls that he’s thrown and it’s now a three ball one strike now five homers 31 RBI’s he can hit for some power to the right side that’s why McCarthy’s playing deep and right it’s a 3-1 pitch swung on and fouled right side the count full at three and two you know he made a good observation also during batting practice oh the ball was just flying out of here you know that might have a little bit to do with the roof being closed the hot weather outside but it was jumping the payoff fouled away it looked like guys were hitting golf balls up there in driving range it really is if you have the chance to come to a game here and you get here about an hour and a half early to watch batting practice you go to dead center field by one of the overhangs it’s amazing seeing the ball carry that far to straightaway center now another 3-2 pitch from Kelly Wagaman swings and misses he’s down on strikes that’s the third strikeout for Merrill and two perfect innings to start his day we go to the bottom of the second marlins nothing and the Diamondbacks nothing on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio network introducing baseball’s allnew national pregame show mlb Tonight live at 5 join Greg Harold and Dad and a star roster for a preview of all the nights matchups get a first look at the lineups everything looks good right now for the Yankees

bottom of the second inning no score no base runners yet in this one as Josh Naylor leads off josh is already ready to swing right now he hasn’t let too many pitches pass first one he thought about it on about chest high maybe a little higher than that decided not to it’s one ball and no strikes it’s kind of funny because he likes to swing at the high fast ball but yet that’s how you get them out also one ball no strikes and now the pitch swing and a miss at a high fast ball down even at one and one helmet came up that looks so juicy to him up there especially when you’re looking at the top of the zone but that’s 98 at the top that’s pretty tough to hit you give him five at bats and you only throw that pitch he might go two for five with three strikeouts and two homers
you might only make contact twice but they’ll be gone
now Perez ready is 1-1 pitch is two high also away from Naylor the count now in his favor and two balls one strike having a great season since being acquired via a trade with Cleveland 307 average 10 homers 53 RBI’s as now this 2-1 inside look out three balls in a strike tried the curve ball but missed he could realistically hit over 20 homers get over a 100 RBI’s and steal over 20 bases
how about that
and that would be an unbelievable season if you knew that going into that trade
yeah take that in a heartbeat three balls one strike left-handed hitter right-handed pitcher perez premier fast ball in the upper 90s it’s already touched 100 today as this 3-1 swung on that’s Barrel center field and now coming in and to his right Senoha maybe it wasn’t Barrel it’s a first fly out and one down here in the bottom of the second it sure looked good off the bat when he made contact but it died out there so maybe it got a little bit on the end of the bat possibly a guy who knows a thing or two about barrels here is auhane Suarez 25 homers and 67 RBI’s yeah he’s been unbelievable in his second season with the Diamondback seems to have picked up where he left off since the beginning of July last year fourth in the majors with those 25 homers and now two behind Cal Raleigh for the major league lead in runs driven in first pitch curveball and it’s a strike to make it nothing and one July hit last year i mean up to this date you can’t get him out the 01 this rolled over to short routine play that time for Anna Lopez and the throw is in time
double clutch that time i mean dropped the curve ball on him and you got to be ready for 98 mph plus and he saw the curveball and then he almost had to gather himself again and that’s what happens when you see that curve and you’re out front you roll over the top of it talking stick resortation is back stay in play with rates as low as $129 and now here is Guriel slightly open stance from the right side the first pitch fast ball is a paintbrush on the outer third nothing and won the count well to your point to be ready for both 99 and then an 83 mph hook is a tough tough test as the 01 fast ball in on his hands guriel somehow got a piece and found it away the count nothing and two then once he develops more as a pitcher and he’s able to reasonably put that ball inside or outside where he wants and change speeds and be able to command the strike zone that’s when a guy like that turns into Pedro Martinez
the O2 now just got a piece fouled 99 on the top shelf but again it’s a lot that has to do with that slow delivery and then he just explodes and Hard to get your timing down no score bottom of the second nobody on and Perez ready 12 over his eyes as now his overhead wind and 02 pitch is swung on in again fouled back he debuted at 20 and then as we mentioned he had Tommy John surgery missed all of last year the Marlins wanted to be extraordinarily cautious with his rehab he made eight rehab appearances in the Miners before getting called up against the Pirates 02 and a curveball swung on out to fairly deep center but Senoha is there with two hands squeezes it shut and the inning comes to an end like Merrill Perez with a six up six down start and we’re off to the third nothing nothing our score the Morgan and Morgan DBEX radio

welcome you back to Chase Field no score as we get ready for the top of the third inning it’s the bottom of the order coming up for the Marlins and we’ve got a special guest in the booth with us right now kind enough to give us a few minutes of his time it’s John Maxwell the secretary of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association john thanks for being with us great to have you
yeah thanks for having me
first pitch to Roberto Hernandez the right-hander takes down low tomorrow really fun event going on here at the ballpark it’s going to be a softball game between the Phoenix Police Department and the firefighters that’s going to be hosted by Randy Johnson and Luis Gonzalez as that pitch is inside tell us a little bit about the event and what’s going on tomorrow because it’s it’s going to hopefully generate some money for two great organizations here in the city
right so it’s going to benefit the plea charities the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association charities and the 493 Firefighter Foundation um basically fans that show up to the game tomorrow uh their tickets going to get them in and then they can stay for after the game and watch us battle it out on the field
that’s where the real battle is right swing and miss there it’s now two balls and two strikes and we have some information on the tickets we’ll get to that here in a second i We was just talking now before we went on the air it’s the first time that that you guys are able to do this here at Chase Field as 22 is swung on and fouled and I think it’s going to be great for fans to you know we hear so much about the great work that you guys do in the community and I think it’s time that we take some time to just come and and support and and celebrate what is a a fun day at the park
yeah I I mean I appreciate the opportunity for the Dbacks to be open to this and like you said it’s the first time where we’ve done this event and partnering with you guys and being able to hold it and and have some fun out on the field and benefiting both great charities uh fire guys taking care of their guys on their side us on the PD side uh supporting our guys through the back to blue program 22 is down three balls and two strikes to count
is there a little competition between the two
uh just a little bit yeah you could say that yeah we’ve we’ve played some other events basketball you know football this one’s going to be a turn though for sure
here’s a 3-2 swing and a miss and he is down on strikes that’s now four strikeouts for Merryill who continues to throw the ball just brilliantly
oh Merryill just really relies on his change up pulled a string on this one and had him way out in front and it goes down to a knee but just still cannot make contact great pitch
so for fans wanting to attend or just you’re learning about this event you want some information go to dbags.com/ police versus fire as that pitch is too high that’s where you’re going to find ticket sales a portion of those ticket sales as John just mentioned they’re going to be donated to the 493 Firefighter Foundation and then plea that’s Phoenix Law Enforcement Association there’s the 10 there’s a swing and a foul but there’s a couple other groups as well organizations that you were referencing back the blue Shop with a Cop Phoenix Police Cadet Scholarship that one a little bit more self-explanatory but would you mind just kind of telling us about some of these other programs that folks might not have heard about
sure so uh every year we have our Shop with a Cop event uh last year we were able to service 250 kids and go out on a shopping spree with officers uh the cadet scholarship program like you said self-explanatory we’re going to pay for their school and then hopefully they can move on to become an officer um and then our back to blue program is kind of our bread and butter so anytime an officer is killed or or injured in the line of duty we’re going to be there to support them and their family um just for some reference we we’ve divvied out almost $4 million um since 2007 to support our guys
here’s two swing and a miss the ball goes to the back stop a bare hand pickup by Herrera throws it over the helmet of Norby and still the first in time for the strikeout that was certainly a broken play there Candy
i’m haven’t seen that that often a change up that he just Herrera just whiffs on he gets a swing and a miss and luckily he finds the ball right away and he gets a nice little charity hop back to him and then guns him out at first got a big smile on his face now two down here’s the nine hitter Javier Senoha no score top of the third inning couple things want to mention here if you can’t make it to this event it’s going to be after the game tomorrow there is still if you’re planning on coming to see the Diamondbacks take on the Marlins there’s a portion of the 5050 raffle that is going to be split between both charities as this pitch is low one ball no strikes so if you’re at the game first off you should partake in the 50/50 it’s a ton of fun you might walk away with a little bit of cash the other half supporting a lot of great charities foundations here in the valley and the other great thing about it as this one is outside you don’t even have to be at the stadium to partake in the 50/50 raffle so if you support the fire department if you support our police officers you can just go ahead participate in the 50/50 maybe knock some dust off if you haven’t done it in a while it’s going to help benefit those charities and foundations and again you’re really doing a great thing for some great people
yeah I really encourage people just jump online if they can’t make it to the game um or if you are attending the game you know join in with the 50-50 raffle um other ways that you can support us you can go to the 493 Firefighter Foundation website and also plech charities.org uh right now we’re doing something special with our 50th year anniversary of our organization we’re doing a uh truck raffle so you can go to rev up wintertuck.org there’s a swing and a ball drilled out to right field mccarthy is back he will make the catch and that is going to do it here for the Marlins in the top of the third john Maxwell secretary of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association thanks so much for your time appreciate you man hey thank you very much
good luck against those firefighters tomorrow
i think we

candy these two pitchers are absolutely dialed in to get this series underway so far for Merryill nine up nine down for Perez six up six down as he works to Jake McCarthy first pitch 98 just buzzing towards the outside corner and he fouls it to make it nothing and one we haven’t had a base runner yet in this game i mean both pitchers just dominating right now the 01 swung on and missed the count is nothing and two look I’ve said this multiple times before I bet you know with the two of us combined over 150 plus wins in the big leagues we love it when we see a good pitching matchup in
fact I think both of us have 151
that one swung on and fouled back don’t need to repeat what I said i think we both know it’s still nothing and two on McCarthy but I know a lot of Diamondback fans want to see Jake’s bat heat up as this O2 bounce nice block made by Ramirez such a key contributor last year that’s why this year is such a headscratcher really struggling for contact really struggling to find the barrel of his bat a lot of times perez is not going to be easy no this is a tough and bad bat especially the first time when you’re facing him
one two blowing inside two and two now
you know one of the things that McCarthy did so well for the Diamondbacks is it’s very strange but he really handled left-handed pitchers well and that’s what got him a lot of abs last year getting in the lineup and in those situations here’s the 2-2 and McCarthy takes way outside ball three three balls two strikes and ideally I know they don’t really want that to happen because you’re probably not going to hit for as much slug but he’s very very capable of handling lefties and righties 3-2 pitch that’s inside ball four and there’s your first base runner it comes on a leadoff walk after McCarthy fell behind nothing in two good to see Jake get on base i mean that’s where his a you know being an asset is because he’s got that great running game and let’s see if Tori turns him loose so far Ramirez the rookie catcher for the Marlins has thrown out four of 34 base Steelers that’s about 11% as a manager you’re probably looking for a little bit better and now runner goes first pitch it goes through the legs of Ramirez and McCarthy slides into second with his second stolen base of the year he must have had five steps before Perez threw the ball very slow to the plate higher leg kick but just that’s his delivery and it’s very slow mccarthy takes advantage i mean this was you know not even a contest look he’s been down in Reno mccarthy has for the better part of two months he’s ready to stretch his legs on big league dirt in scoring position with nobody out and now the one to Thomas he takes a strike that’s a fast ball would have hit the bullseye as it’s now one and one yeah that was right there and I wouldn’t be surprised if MacArthur if he gets a little bit of timing on Cabrera he might take off the third base here the 1-1 and Thomas fouls it away perez ahead one and two alex got a little room out in left center field you know we’ve noticed him getting a little bit better at taking the ball the other way from the belt a one-two pitch breaking ball and a good take that time missed low the count even at two balls and two strikes ideally Alec right now is you get McCarthy at second base is have a productive at bat now make contact keep the ball to the right side of the infield get McCarthy to third base two pitch swung on guided foul might have been a little bit off the plate but again at 97 you have such little time to decide and especially with two strikes that’ll make contact mccarthy at second nobody out and we are scoreless in the bottom of the third inning perez a look at second now the pitch thomas again swings and he fouls this time a 100 straight back that one a bit closer to the inside part of the zone he can really bring it i mean just a slow delivery and just pops like that you know it reminds me a little bit of Doc Gooden when he was in his prime slow delivery and that ball just flew out of his hand swing and another foul ball high and far left side out of play these are a couple teams that don’t have a ton of similarities but I can’t help but think going into the year they were probably thinking man we are going to be defined by the quality of our starting pitching from the Marlins perspective they were probably thinking we’re going to get Sandy Alcantra back he is going to be a stud he was before he got hurt you combine that with Max Meyer and Yuri Perez the next young great generation of Marlins pitching maybe Edward Cabrera takes a step forward and then have a battle for the fifth spot in that rotation and of course for the Diamondbacks we knew what it was going into the year seven spots for five guys led by Corbin Burns Zack Allen and Mel Kelly and my goodness down goes Max Meyer for the Marlins alcantra hasn’t been the same you could say that Eddie Cabrera hasn’t taken a step forward and Perez still finding his way and of course for the Diamondbacks we know how it’s gone in a hard year for Gallon corbin Burns lost to injury two balls two strikes and now the two- two pitch great take that gets through the legs of Augustine Ramirez that’s a wild pitch and tiptoeing to third is McCarthy he’s now there with nobody out
well now Thomas instead of just trying to get him over try to get him in this was a breaking ball down should have been an easy block but he reached for that ball out with the backhand side of the glove and wasn’t able to keep it in front of him clayton McCulla going to bring his infield in now perez looking for the strikeout it is 32 to Thomas is swung on that’s a highf fly ball headed towards the corner right by the line as Sanchez he will make the catch that will allow McCarthy to score easily and he steps on home plate for the game’s first run a job well done by Thomasson it’s one- nothing Diamondbacks boy it almost looked like Sanchez when he caught this ball he was still contemplating whether he should catch it or let it go he’s in foul territory if he lets it go then this pitcher still has a chance to get a strike out maybe try to wiggle out of the inning or you make the play you give up the run and now your pitcher’s got nobody on and one out one- nothing our score first pitch to Herrera and he swings and fouls it back with that run the Dbacks are safe at home with Blue Sky Pest Control the official pest control provider the Arizona Diamondbacks in Chase Field so let me ask you you’re on the mound you have Yuri Perez’s stuff is the 01 it is a breaking ball for a strike do you want your fielder in the third inning with nobody out to catch that ball or to let it drop in foul territory
don’t ever ask a pitcher the manager will say he did the right thing stay out of a big inning pitcher wants to get everybody out two in the dirt one and two
if that’s maybe late in the game and it’s the eighth or ninth inning and that one run might be the difference of winning or losing the game that’s one thing but early in the game like this that’s definitely the right play
here’s the one-two reached for again by Herreri fouls 99 straight back into the net
but don’t ask a pitcher look at him what are you doing catching that ball to strike this guy out a one two and tried to check his swing did he yes say to Alan Porter at third Herrera getting better and better at swinging the bat this year also looking more comfortable at the plate 22 pulled foul handling all the pitches now it’s the most consistent run he has had as the starting catcher for the Diamondbacks with the injury to Moreno he started I think something like 13 of the last 17 games as this 2-2 weekly hit first base side and what he’s doing now is what we have seen a lot of from his starts on the offensive side of things working the pitch count basically telling the opposing pitcher you might get me out but it’s going to take you about six to 10 pitches to do so
and he’s he’s taken way better quality swings and I know when you look at his average you might not think that but when you watch him day in and day out he’s getting better and better behind the plate ground ball diving to his right is the first baseman Wagaman he throws a bullet to Perez covering and it’s in time for the out perez had to reach down to his knees which is like the giant reaching down for the beantock i mean you’d never want to let a pitcher look below the waist for a ball because that way you got to take your eyes you know off your bag it ruins your timing going your footwork going to the bag you want that ball up about chest high that was very dangerous but he made a play with those long arms two down and now back to the top of the order here is Pommo with Boost by Fries VIP win game day with free grocery delivery two times fuel points and more visit friesfood.com/boost today first pitch Perdomo takes high outside a curveball missed count one ball no strikes now the wine in the 10 formo swinging a miss that curve ball is really electric for him i mean almost threw a few change ups the first time through early in the game but after that it’s pretty much been his fast ball and his curve one and one the count one- nothing Dags here’s the wind of the pitch peromo takes that’s considerably outside it’s 2 and one sitting at 258 right now there’s a swing and a foul that was 99 on the inside part he just could not get the barrel to bat out on that one here’s the two- two pitch swung on ground ball to first backpedaling Wagaman he has it in the glove this time he doesn’t need Perez he’ll step on first base the inning comes to a close and the Dbacks thanks to the walk and stolen base by McCarthy have a one- nothing lead we go to the fourth on the Morgan and Morgan Dbags radio

yeah you want to keep this guy off the bases he can make some things happen one-1 now and that’s a strike well you’re right he went to the Tim Mlen School of Calling strikes very slow one and two kelly winds and unloads and he missed low that time edwards took the change up like he knew it was coming two balls two strikes the count not a huge power hitter but he’s got good wheels he’s got great hands can really hit to all parts of the field from both sides of the plate as the 2-2 swung on and foul tip herrera hangs on and Kelly another strike out that is six already merryill just dealing out there that was a good pitch just looked like the cutter had a little side spin to it foul tip herrera just kind of grabs it in that big glove now the first one to Jesus Sanchez swung on line to right a late break for McCarthy but good closing speed tracks it down makes the catch and you follow the strike out again candy with a one pitch out that’s That’s the way to do it get your strike out then get a quick out you know that was a change up that he threw sanchez with a big cut a long cut and the ball hits the end of the bat and it throws McCarthy and that’s a strong kid swinging really hard but hit the end of the bat and he still was able to make the catch two down for Otto Lopez the first pitch is low one- nothing Diamondbacks lead and this is nothing new for Kelly against the Marlins his start as we mentioned earlier this year one run allowed in six innings he struck out nine as the 10 is in there for a strike that one on the corner and accounted even one ball one strike the more you watch Kelly pitch as this 1-1 has a breaking ball that missed outside two and one if you’re a Diamondback fan you’re wondering why not sign this guy up for another three years hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down and it’s not like his game is predicated on velocity he’s getting better and better
now the 2-1 oh that’s a fabulous change up my goodness swinging a miss it’s two and two
i mean it’s a pitcher just in total charge of his arsenal and he just makes it look easy when that happens here’s two to Lopez i just got a piece he had him chasing a cutter that was almost three baseballs off the plate i mean I don’t think Lopez knew what to even look for i think he just decided he’s going to swing is the probably going to be a strike two balls two strikes another 2-2 grounded inside the left field line that’s a fair ball and that’s going to roll into the corner and the first hit of the day for the Marlins goes for extra bases it’s also the first hit of the ball game despite the Dbacks leading one to nothing
change up just got a little bit up i think he wanted it outside a little bit inside and elevated that’s why he’s able to pull that ball two down runner at second for Augustine Ramirez quick reminder DBags fans to pick up a special Catel Marte bobble next month on Saturday July 19th courtesy of Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort ramirez struck out his first time up again lot of power in this rookie bat 12 on the year tied for the team lead and Kelly’s first one swung on that’s a laser shot over the leaping effort of Suarez and the lead is gone rounding third and coming home is Lopez as it kicks away from Guriel Ramirez into second with a double and my goodness that ball was absolutely punished boy it was really smoke too 117 miles an hour off the bat i mean it was a change up it was up and full extension and he just squared that ball up i mean it was right it was probably about head high but was hit so hard Sires couldn’t get his glove up in time 117 m an hour you don’t get to say that that number that often you know it makes those 12 homers feel a little bit more believable it’s not like he had a bunch of sneezers out there here’s Kyle Sters first pitch and Sters takes inside we’re tied at one after the backtoback doubles here in the fourth inning ster’s very quiet batting stance hardly moves his hands at all and now the 10 swinging a foul tint tied him up to Kelly it’s one and one you know Ster’s secretly really having a nice season you know he’s hitting in the 270s he’s got some pop he’s driving some runs in not that he’s getting a lot of opportunities to do so playing on the Marlins but you know he is not an easy out
one-1 pitch that one stung out to deep center field thomas on his horse racing back he can’t reach it that’s going to go to the wall it’s the third straight double for Miami and in the blink of an eye they’ve now taken a two to one lead all three of those have been on change ups and even that ball that Sanchez hit the line drive to right field that was on a change up but Sters went down and got that ball stayed with it all the way like he knew it was coming
here comes Brian Kaplan the pitching coach and he might just pass along that note that you shared with us there and it these guys might be sitting on the change up here we know coming into this start it’s the pitch he goes to the most over 50% of his pitches this year have been that change up
yeah i mean he feels so comfortable like he can get an out any time against anybody with his change up and traditionally you know he’s done a really nice job second time through the order hitters only hit 169 against him so I think it’s just a matter of pitch mix right now and just maybe utilizing your cutter a little bit more or something besides uh the change up the mound visit is over the Marlins have a 2 to one lead here in inning number four and that is going to bring up first baseman Eric Wagaman again right-handed hitter who has a real knack for driving the ball to right field center fielder and right fielder shading towards the opposite side even the left fielder Guriel playing well off the line in left as that pitch is outside for ball one yeah Merl really wants to close this inning out right now leave that guy at second base the 10 there’s a swing and a highf fly ball and a shallow right in comes McCarthy he will call off Catel and make the catch and that’s going to do it for the fish here in the fourth but out of nowhere they pound out three doubles they score two runs and we go to the bottom of the fourth it’s now Miami two and the Dbacks one on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio

catel Marte leads off for the Dbacks who trail Miami 2 to1 and first pitch Yuri Perez looked like the curveball just slipped out of his hands it missed well outside and high let’s see if Patel can get this thing going here all the runs in this game really been scored with two outs swinging a miss he dropped another off speed on him a slider that time
so difficult because Perez is so tall and he throws so hard you really have to turn that dial up be ready
one-1 pitch is down low two and one the count patel with a ground out his first time up chris Garajio alongside Tom Candyotti great to be back at Chase Field after what felt like an eternity on the road as a 2-1 is outside ball three three and one wow good count for Patel here got to be sitting on that fast ball especially a guy that walks a lot of guys he’s going to trust this fast ball in a situation like this here comes a 3-1 pitch and it’s outside ball four he walked him second base runner for the Diamondbacks both have been on leadoff walks to bring up Haven Smith with nobody out look he really didn’t want any part of Catel that time even that last pitch a breaking ball well off the plate away now it’s time to make it stink 31 walks in a little over 90 innings in his rookie season that’s okay for a rookie but you’re expecting from your ace to maybe be a little bit below that walks per nine this year it’s gone in the wrong direction again coming back from Tommy John this is only his fourth start there’s now first pitch from the stretch and pave takes a strike that time just a belt tie go hit it slider and who knows different pitchers have different reactions and experiences coming back from major arm surgery as now the 01 is a curveball in the dirt better stop from Ramirez one and one the count some guys have talked about it’s taken a full year it feels like to trust that my arm isn’t going to break down on me again some guys feel like they’re able to figure things out their throwing program some guys it takes 10 starts it could be the flip of a coin as the 1-1 and that’s inside for ball two but Candy as teams now lean on the biometrics on pitches pitch shape pitch spin obviously pitch velocity they feel like they can trust that a lot more than the eye test as now Pave swings and fouls it away and say “Look you’re you’re spinning it up there at X,000 RPM your velocity is right where it was pre-injury so you know all indications say that everything’s fine.” Yeah it used to be all movement velocity and location well those things have changed they’re important but not as important as they once were when they especially when they’ve shrunk the strike zone especially on the you know kind of the east to west side then now you need spin you need velocity to be able to get guys out full count perez ready at his payoff to Paven swung on and fouled back paving a great fast ball hitter and he got a great fast ball to hit but all he could do was foul it back and he might not get another juicy fast ball like that one yeah that was right in his wheelhouse but you know again it was hard but he should be able to turn on that one
3-2 another fast ball that one swung on and fouled away marte at first nobody out two on Miami bottom of the fourth a 3-2 swung on and a towering popup that might hit the roof it’s now coming down in towards foul territory and I think it did hit perhaps the stansion otherwise the third baseman Norby just let it fall i don’t know what to say on that i can’t see that high up but it should have been an easy play for Norby he was there plenty of time he’s tracking the ball going towards it and he’s right there and it must have hit something because he stopped and then he gathered it again unless he lost it as he was trotting over there i think it did and now we do another 3-2 pitch swing and a miss swung it at ball forward to Paven and that’ll be the second strike out for Perez well that ball really took off away on him unfortunately he chased it i bring up Naylor naylor out to center field his first time up got a lot of high fast balls his last time up there see if he goes up there again first pitch popped up and that one is going to get over the netting foul josh wasn’t getting cheated with that swing either he tried to turn 97 miles an hour around big cut no balls one strike marlins lead it two to one and now the pitch from Perez here’s a breaking ball hit high in the air to shallow right sanchez coasting in makes the catch and now two down after the walk that’ll bring up Au Haneio Suarez now let’s see if Gino can get a hold of one here i’d like to see with the power of his swing and the power of that fast i’d like to see those two connect at Dignity Health our team of orthopedic experts can help keep you in motion don’t let joint pain put your life on pause visit dignityhealth.org/as ortho to learn more suarez rolled over a breaking ball to short in his first at bat so he does in his second at bat perez ready first pitch swing and a foul tip high heater at 99 and the count is nothing and one the one swinging a miss that was a filthy slider that time best of the night for Perez no balls two strikes the count
yeah he left that right right at the bottom of the zone away you’d think the swerves would be in between pitches so when that happens just sit on one of them take your chances the 02 there’s a fast ball fouled back marte at first two down beck still without a base hit and the O2 to Suarez swung on just got a piece another really excellent slider on the low outside corner well he stole him a couple good breaking balls some spin and that’s how a lot of teams will throw to Gino lot of breaking stuff a lot of spin pitches down in the zone the two pitch missed outside one and two perez ready another one-two pitch that one swung on line into left field that’s a top spin base hit marte has to hold it second what a nice battle there after he fell behind with two strikes as the inning will continue for Lordis Guriel Jr
well he just got enough of that one and he didn’t hit it hard and like you said a little top spin line drive and a fast ball up in his own 100 m an hour and got himself a base knock and now Debeck’s got something going so it took four innings but the Dbacks get their first hit presented by New Vision Autoglass new Vision and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation are teaming up to donate funds to veterans with every hit this season as part of the hits for heroes program now Perez who is already at 79 pitches just missed outside one ball no strikes hard to describe this performance as efficient even though some of the velocities have popped up on the video board like fireworks yeah incredible arm strength he’s had a couple walks one of them scored one to lead off this inning that’s still in flux right now
and now the one from Perez guriel swings and pops it up third base side foul one ball one strike to count i think this is one of those at bats where Lordis might shorten up just a bit just trying to punch a ball somewhere got that huge gap in right center marte at second Suarez at first 1-1 swung on and missed went back to that slider that wasn’t a pitch he had shown a lot of in the first three innings and Guriel got his first taste of it there and say to say he’s a little fooled
yes he was i mean that was two good sliders he threw to Suarez also that was another good one now the one-two swung on that one hit to deep left field towards the pole but it’s hooking foul oh he just dropped the head of the bat on a slider that time and just drilled it but just at the last minute went foul that would have been three quick runs there probably going to get a fast ball on the inner third a little bit elevated at least that’s where he’s going to probably attempt to throw this ball one ball two strikes two outs the pitch swinging a miss chased the slider way off the plate and Perez gets out of the inning with his third strikeout of the night dbebacks get one hit they strand two and we go to the fifth bottom of yeah the fifth pardon me marlins two Dbacks one on the Morgan and Morgan DBEX radio

kmvp FM arizona sports the local sports leader on the Arizona sports app and on 987 Scarajola alongside Tom Candyotti so joined by Steve Zinsmeister Leo Gil Martin our producer engineer and Ryan Sakura our technical director back in studio rookie right-hander Hernandez swing and miss at the first pitch he struck out his first time up now he takes low from Kelly and the count is even at one and one let’s see if America can kind of readjust this inning after a little bit of trouble he had last inning when one pitch missed inside they now had two balls and a strike kelly not hearing anything through the pitchcom device puts his glove to his ear and then puts his pitching hand kind of outstretched like a shrug as now Jim Wolf going to inspect to see if there are any auditory issues all right get a new one you always got that spare ready i don’t know the company that makes the PitchCom device unless it is literally called PitchCom very well might be the case could you imagine though the capabilities if you gave the patent out to one of the major cellular providers in the United Apple Pitch Comp that not only told you what pitch to throw but also if your cholesterol is a little high you can probably do everything touch the pitch com right here and you get a heart rate and a free subscription to MLS here’s the 2-1 that’s slowing away three balls and a strike here on Hernandez hernandez kind of came out of nowhere for the Marlins they weren’t getting a ton of production from Matt MV this is 3-1 and taking all the way hernandez that’s a strike to fill up the count at three and two and Peter Bendix general manager of this group basically decided look I know we acquired Murphus but it’s not working out let’s give this kid a shot 3-2 pitch to swing and a miss and down on strikes for the second time today great change up he on this change up he put some tilt on it almost looked like a screw ball it went up and it just went straight down awesome awesome shot right there on that slow-mo replay seven strikeouts for Kelly that brings up Connor Norby norby struck out his first time up kelly’s now struck out six of the nine Marlins and Norby first pitch rolls it over to short tough play backhand purdomo out towards first oh Naylor dropped the ball well what a great play by Purdomo though i mean really going to his right catches the ball momentum going towards third base throws crossbody gets it there all the way on a fly and Josh Naylor just could not hold on to the ball ah that was a great play and in and out of his glove properly ruled an error also in the fourth for Naylor runner at first now one out for the center fielder Javier Senoha right-handed here with an open stance throw to first and Lorby who does have seven stolen bases in nine tries is back to first injured in a car accident or slip in a fall for batting over 20 billion in counting for Morgan and Morgan America’s largest injury law firm and proud sponsor of the Arizona Diamondbacks well now Senoha takes low for ball one one ball no strikes that count kelly now up to 70 pitches now another throw to first and again back there safely is Connor Norby that’s two disengagements now now we’ve seen Merryill go over there even with two picking a chance on that third one and he does go to the third first base for a third time it’s not in time and that’s going to put Norby into scoring position almost had a feeling that was going to happen the first pickoff attempt was just kind of the get me over one trying to set him up the second one I thought he was going to really try to pick him off and then try to catch him sleeping on the third but didn’t work one pitch missed outside Kelly two balls no strikes you know that’s a situation where we’ll see how the inning plays out Candy but you got the nine hitter up you have kind of the real quality hitters of this lineup with all due respect sitting in the one-two spot as now this two- pitch is low for ball three and 0 and with only one out you now lose the double play ball if you get Sonoha to put it on the ground almost guaranteeing a chance for Xavier Edwards to come up with a runner at second yeah it almost feels like he just gave him a base
and that’s a four pitch walk first and second and now Brian Kaplan off his perch up the steps of the dugout and out for his second mound visit of the day well with the walk right there it does set up you know a chance for a double play although Edwards runs about as well as anybody very difficult guy to double up marlins two Diamondbacks one this is a real interesting home stand for the Diamondbacks these three games against the Marlins and again they come in playing some of their best ball of the season offense has been there the defense has been vastly improved and they’ve won four straight they’ve won five to six but still the Dbacks had aspirations of certainly winning this series and then it’s kind of question marks after that not because of the Diamondbacks but just because in Major League Baseball from time to time you do play some quality opponents and you have the Giants coming up right after that you’ve got the Kansas City Royals had a pretty good back and forth with the Dodgers today before you go on your final road trip of the first half taking on the Padres’s for four games and the Angels for three not an easy stretch to close out the first half marlins lead it two to one one out top of the fifth runners at first and second and the first pitch to Edwards instead a check once again on Norby well I think Merryill also knows the game plan of the Marlins you mentioned it early they’re going to run when they get a chance so he’s been really trying to slow it down with guys on first one to Edwards now that’s a strike nothing won the count marlins have 60 stolen bases coming into play today one fewer than the Diamondbacks who have 61 no balls in a strike the switch hitting Edwards that’s from the left side deli is ready a quick look at second and the 01 pitch swung on looping liner foul that’s out of play the cow now nothing at two big moment in this game right here this at bat 02 swung on found out of play again edwards a New York native originally drafted by Tampa and then traded in the off season after the 22 campaign when he was still a minor leager along with JT Charis the O2 pitch in the dirt what a backhand pick made by Herrera that’s a gutsy call you miss it you put two in scoring position and they picked that thing like he was a 10-time Gold Glover at first
yeah I mean that’s really a situation trusting your catcher drops a change up in front of the play and Herrera just backhands that ball in a in between hop great play one out the one-two pitch missed outside tried another change up and now Candy two and two count what are you thinking here well you know that’s another change up that he’s missed with merryill is the guy that you just never know he’s clever i think he’s going to come with another change try to get that ground ball to the right side he makes your position for a double play ball the two-2 deflects off the glove of Kelly and no play for Purdomo it’s going to be an infield hit for Edwards not sure if that would have snuck through into center field but regardless the bases are now loaded with only one out
yeah I mean it was another change up he caught it down and away this ball’s only hit 68 m an hour and it looked like that probably would have been a double play instead trouble for Kelly the Dbacks already trailing it two to one the pitch count starting to climb and Vbeck Sev Kevin Ginkle up and throwing boy this is a tough match up for Merrill also Sanchez hit that line drive to right on a change up his last at bat lot of power first pitch an indecisive swing and miss and they count nothing and one norby at third he reached on an error senoha at second he reached on a walk as this one is swung on that’s a shallow pop up to left guriel hustling in he’s going to make the catch no chance for Norby to tag the throw is cut off and a very unproductive out by Sanchez as now there are two down and it’s going to be up to the shortstop Otto Lopez but what a great pitch after all the change ups that he has thrown Sanchez he gets him out with the fast ball and that’s why he beat him he was sitting soft and he got the hard stuff just another tough situation here lopez doubled to left his last time up he’s one for two and Kelly’s pitch a breaking ball weekly hit left to the mound kelly has it fadeaway throw to first and he throws it into right field two runs are going to score edwards rounding third he’ll know he’ll be held there and sloppy defense by the Diamondbacks is right now the thesis of this inning it’s now a 4-1 Marlin lead and runners at second and third still with two outs i guess it’s the old swinging bun they’ll probably give this a hit then an error on Merrill probably shouldn’t have tried to throw this ball and it cost him another run by trying to to force some action on a play he probably would have never gotten anyway here’s a great angle of the throw oh I mean a Naylor they need to have 30foot arms to try and knock that ball down need to be rubber band there ouch that hurts and now here is Augustine Ramirez he swings pounds it on the ground to third nice backhand pick by Suarez the throw to first in time and it comes to an end two errors in the inning a walk a buck and two men left in scoring position and moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921

i really don’t know what to say i’m just uh so happy I gave something these people cheer we all did i mean it was a great game both teams played incredible it was a great game that’s Mike Piaza after he hit an eighth inning go-ahead home run in the first New York Mets home game after 911 your moments like this and more on the MLB app and MLB.com sports betting partner of the Arizona Diamondbacks daniel Jewelers is the official sponsor of the trip around the diamond stop by any Daniel’s locations and say home run for your free team bracelet and $50 gift card toward any purchase of $99 or more and at Daniel’s Jewelers everyone is approved for credit daniel’s Jewelers own the dream arizona Diamondbacks play here arizona Sports 987 and the Arizona Sports app marlins have extended their lead it’s now 4 to one as we move into the bottom of the fifth inning yuri Perez still on the mound for the fish and first pitch Jake McCarthy he takes off the plate for ball one mccarthy with a walk and a run scored that was back in the third inning as the one now McCarthy again takes up and away for ball two two balls no strikes the count the have just one hit the Marlins have five but it’s the two errors by the Diamondbacks that have led to two runs it makes this game feel a little bit different now the two- pitch mccarthy swings hammers it deep to right that thing is gone his first of the season a no doubter and the Dbacks pull it back it’s now four to two that ball was a rocket 111 miles an hour off the bat of Jake McCarthy and just sizzled into the right field bleachers and with that trip around the diamond stop by any Daniels Jewelers and say home run for your free team bracelet and $50 gift card toward any purchase of $99 or more daniel’s Jewelers own the dream good lord i didn’t see that one coming that ball was leaned on
wow
and now Thomas he goes after the first pitch and he hits it high but foul left side they count nothing and one now the 01 pitch thomas sends a highf fly to shallow left center field cutting into his right soa and he will give way to Hernandez rookie left fielder makes the catch i still can’t get over how hard that ball McCarthy hit
it’s not that he doesn’t have it in him he does but the word unexpected this was a guy who was struggling mightily before he got sent down i mean his average coming into play was 082 which is not indicative of McCarthy’s talent as now Herrera takes out a strike to make it 0 and1 that first game against the White Socks back it it looked a little bit like what we had seen before he was sent down some kind of in between timings kind of catching the ball off the end of the bat make trying to bunt his way on that right there was a confident swing and that thing was flushed it was
oh look out the 01 it was inside sent Herrera jacknifing out of the way into a pushup position breaking ball way down and in almost like a cutter he does a push-up and gets back up who do you think can do the most push-ups in this radio booth as this one pitch is up and away i’ll tell you right now it’s not me i have deceptively weak upper body strength i’m going to give it to Zen then with the old Zinfidel
yes he’s got that dad strength now as 2-1 is low tried to frame 97 Augustine Ramirez but it bounced out of the glove and now we get a shot of Mart he’s having an apple well there you go
now that’s the secret why lift weights when you can just have a Granny Smith have an apple hit a bomb
the 3-1 and Herrera takes low that’s a walk on the bottom of the order having some great at bats here as there’s some man on with one out now back to the top of the order ronaldo Purdomo really good at bat drawing that walk that was a low fast ball but pretty close to the bottom of the zone and going to be it for him that is going to be it the Marlins being extraordinarily cautious with his pitch count as he continues to build strength from Tommy John it’s called to the bullpen brought to you by Sanderson Ford best play in Newport is Sanderson Ford dbags trail 4 to2 but have a man at first with one out see if you can figure out the following baseball slang term today’s phrase is oppo taco do you know what it means combo taco a home run hit to the opposite field taco 13 then it’s a one-run game

but this is where you need that productive a bat if you scratch out a base hit an extra base hit get on base and give Marte a shot at this really hard thrower good swing and miss stuff as that pitch is inside and the count is evened up at one ball and one strike and he does it with a kind of a rare four pitch mix fast ball slider change up sweeper we’ll use all those occasionally now the 1-1 swung on hammered highfly ball that’s to deep right swimsuits oh and a splash landing into the pool for Purdomo it’s a game tying two-run shot his ninth of the season and we’re all square at four perdomo keeps delivering in the clutch he got a middle fast ball and he just put the screws to it and with that trip around the diamonds stop by any Daniel’s Jewelers and say home run for your free team bracelet and $50 gift card toward any purchase of $99 or more daniel’s Jewelers own the dream two home runs this inning and now Catel takes a first pitch fast ball right down the middle and the count is 0 and one merryill was very appreciative of Cardomo walking by in the dugout getting this back to even there’s the 01 oh Catel thought about it and then nearly got hit in the back of the leg one ball one strike that was a nasty slider the seventh home run allowed this season by Ronnie Enriquez this one is low home run per nine of 1.4 coming into play today you’re a bit better at saying whether that’s good or not so good on a pitching side of things two balls and a strike wind in the pitch marte pounds it on the ground right side and foul and the count now at two and two well you know Catel wants to deliver so badly right now fans gave him a lot of love prior to his first at bat and he wants to return the favorite at some point with one big swing he’s so far 0 for one with a walk and now the two pitch swing and a miss got him with a change up and he is down on strikes two down for Pav Smith
wicked pitch he put on Marte great arm speed on this change up even had good movement pulled him
earn points for Dbags rewards on game tickets exclusive merchandise and more by shopping Kors Light at Fry Food Stores visit friesfood.com/dbags for details there’s a swing and a foul by Pav nothing and won the count it’s a threerun bottom of the fifth inning to tie this thing up to four both teams are going to be into their bullpens merryill’s day is done perez clearly already out of the game as now going to go and burn a mound visit because the pitch clock was winding down all the catchers have that clock right in front of them up there they can see that you’ll see this happen quite often bases are empty two down daven 0 for two with two strikeouts he’s faced nothing but firm velocity there’s the 01 there’s a check swing did he go yes 0 and two henriquez has a really good slider not sure about how often he can throw it for a called strike but he gets guys to chase at it the 02 pitch swung on haven just got a piece to stay alive i mean we’re talking about off speed here that has so far been 90 to 93 miles an hour it just feels like an unfair game that’s some serious power there’s the O2 swing and a miss a hat-tick for Paven the inning comes to an end but the Dbacks score three runs they do it on two homers and we go to the six tied at 4 on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio network watch all Debbacks games both live and on demand with a DBX TV subscription start your 7-day free trial today by registering at dax TV visit dbax.com off base is coming in a brand new format join Lauren Gardner and Xavier Scrugs as they explore all the baseball buzz across social media pop culture and around the majors the Offace Podcast Sundays at 11:00 a.m eastern only on MLB Network the MLB Network podcast is here join your favorite on-air personalities for unique perspectives in-depth interviews and untold stories from on and off the field the MLB Network podcast presented by New Balance Sundays at 11:30 Eastern

smith courts went into right down the line it may go crazy folks go crazy it’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the three-2 and a home run by the Wizards catch the next unforgettable call on the MLB app and MLB.com let’s see if you can figure out the following baseball slang term today’s phrase is oppo do you know what it means taco a home run hit to the opposite field with an oppo taco his 13th it’s a one-run game
expand your vocabulary by listening to every game on the MLB app and MLB.com sports 987 and the Arizona Sports app beck’s going to turn the ball over to hard throwing right-hander Juan Mario and Evbecks now trail at 5-4 mario really burst on at the scene this year then kind of lost his form for a little bit had about a twoe stretch where he really struggled seems to have found that form again all in all on the year he’s got a 403 erra this will be his 26th appearance and his first pitch to the right-handed hitting Eric Wagaman he is swung on and it’s a two hopper to first backhanded by Naylor he’ll go to the bag by his lonesome and a one pitch out for Mario to begin the sixth inning yeah that’s a good way to start well fast ball and nails it right to Naylor had him played perfectly here is Eraberto Hernandez so Kelly’s line is now finalized and for the Dback right-hander kind of an up and down outing for him five innings pitched five runs only three of which were earned on six hits as this pitch swung on by Hernandez and fouled he walked one struck out seven and just gave up the home run not more than 5 minutes ago to Sters and it’s an outing that would have looked a whole lot differently had the two errors not been committed in the top of the fifth inning i agree he had such good stuff tonight the 01 is grounded up the middle cut off on a backhand by Marte and a perfect throw to first in time and now two down and here’s the third baseman Norby nice play by Catel just kind of circling to his right a little bit getting a big hop throwing him out cross body he bags from now until the All-Star break will play a baseball game at least one every day and given the upcoming road schedule good weather should be in the forecast is there a swing and a foul at a 100 at the top of the zone if they can won the count getting good starting pitching performances are going to be important and obviously trying to manage the bullpin going to be a huge challenge with no off days in sight the 01 there’s another swing and another foul by Norby as he’s now behind nothing at two another 99 mph fast ball i tell you what in this game we’ve seen some velocity 02 that’s a hard hit ball to first it pinballs off the arm of Naylor and it goes into shallow right a base hit well again 98 mph this time and that ball was a rocket ship leaves the bat at 99 and just kind of ate Josh up awkward hop naylor tried to get the body in front of it by moving his arms and just rolled up that right forearm here is Shenoha the nine hitter the pitch to him swung on hit towards right slicing foul mccarthy will not have a play and look we said coming into this series the Marlins are playing better baseball as of late the thing that has really stood out is what they’ve done with the bats second highest average in the majors this month this month pardon me behind only Tampa and they’re almost hitting 290 as a team two outs runner at first the 01 that one hammered left center field that’s going to get down and go all the way to the wall and that’s going to bring home another run norby coasts around third heading to third is Senoha the throw is not in time it’s a two out triple and the Marlins now take a six to4 lead he just nailed that fast ball right to that left center field gap all the way to the 413 mark thomas playing a little bit towards right center they weren’t expecting him to pull this ball and he found that gap and that’s why he was able to get all the way to third 16th RBI for Senoha and that ground ball to Naylor hurts doubly now it’s a two-run six to counter the three-run fifth now Edwards the leadoff man foul tips a first pitch change up and the count is 0 and one now he’s going to use his timeout here still a lot of baseball left the Dback offense seems to have woken up in that bottom of the fifth we’ll see if it carries on into this game we know this offense can put some runs on the board and they can do it early middle or late yeah it’s all really about you know preventing them right now 101 on that fast ball but with two outs this is a run that you desperately need to be able to to preserve one-1 pitch and outside and it’s now two and one the two-1 found away got away with that pitch high change up above the strike zone got to get on top of that one get it down two outs top of the six the Marlins have scored two runs in each of the last three innings and now there’s 22 here’s a breaking ball and Edwards just used his hands to foul it that was a slider that was hung up there fortunately Edwards not known to be much of a power hitter another offspe pitch at the top of the zone got to be a little careful with those those are mistake pitches runner third two down and here comes the two two pitch missed upstairs with a fast ball full count thomas not playing particularly deep in center nor Guriel in left guriel actually playing very shallow yeah sometimes when you play shallow it’s not about whether you catch the ball but if the ball can scoot by you one way or the other you got to be careful of stinger foul left side that’s exactly right the way that Edwards likes to line the ball all he has to do is just punch a liner over the head of the shortstop Pommo and that thing could split a huge gap
yeah and with his speed I mean it’s definitely going to be extra bases just how many 3-2 ground ball to short perdomo gets a friendly bounce and a quick throw to first is in time the inning is over but the Marlins score twice they do it on three hits a double shy for the cycle that inning and we go to the bottom of the sixth inning marlins six Dbacks four on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks radio network let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term today’s phrase is oppo do you know what it means taco a home run hit to the opposite field

he takes a front door sweeper for a strike 88 miles an hour suarez one for two raque is ready the 01 pitch pass ball upstairs one and on the count boy some massive score lines in baseball today some ridiculous offense as the 1-1 swung on and grounded foul the Blue Jays shut out the Red Sox 9 to nothing the Reds beat the Padres’s 8-1 the Orioles good lord erased a 6 nothing deficit and hammered the Rays 22 to8 oh my goodness that is a big score here’s the one two reached for little floater left field that’s down for a base hit suarez now two for three and that will bring the tying run to the plate and Lordis Scuriel not one of his two hits has been hit hard at all he had a reach down and away to kind of protect on the slider and just onehanded it about a half a swing and got himself a knock just to finish up some scores the Pirates beat the Mets 9 to1 the Nationals and Angels are tied at nine the Phillies lead the Braves 11 nothing horrible day for the unders as taking a strike is Lord is 98 on the corner and the count is 0 and one and somehow in all that you have a complete game Maddox by Sunny Gray how many pitches was it again
89
with 11 strikeouts and the 01 takes a second strike apparently well off the plate one out one on 6-4 Marlins bottom of the sixth and Enriquez CO2 off the end of the bat foul good swing by Lordis sometimes it’s just about staying alive let’s get another guy on for McCarthy in beyond deck circle he juiced one his last AB big hole right side of the infield second baseman Edwards up the middle the 02 grounded foul left side another breaking ball this just has the feeling i’m not saying it’s going to happen but it’s not going to surprise me if there’s a swing and Lordis throws the bat just has that kind of vibe to it right now like it’s a bat throwing contest well his last at bat they struck him out on a slider that was way out of the strike zone so you get the sense sometimes that he gets himself into swing mode and now the 02 pitch swung on another shallow fly to left but it’s going to hang up for Hernandez to make the catch learned his lesson on the Suarez play two down and here’s McCarthy he’s kind of dorked it down a little bit of lay and just got it up in the air but McCarthy’s having a great night though a walk he scored a run he’s got a stolen base hit a long hold run to right looks like that is going to be it for Enriquez called to the bullpen brought to you by Sanderson Ford best play in New Ford is it Sanderson Ford he gets a couple fist bumps on his way out he will step out i’m guessing a lefty is coming in we’ll tell you who it is right after this on the Morgan and Morgan DBEX

the new pitcher for the Marlins is left-handed thrower Kade Gibson gibson was originally drafted in the 10th round out of Louisiana Tech he’ll face a pinch hitter in Randall Britic so McCarthy’s day comes to an end at first two down we’re in the sixth inning and with the Marlins leading six to four the first pitch for Gibson is inside for ball one so far on the year a 27y old rookie 1.80 erra this is 18th appearance as the 10 breaking ball didn’t break two balls no strikes that was nowhere even close that was definitely an uncompetitive pitch just a non-competitive pitch you say whatever you want it wasn’t close put it that way richard 244 average three homers 15 RBI’s and now the 200 swung on and found a way to the right gibson started the year with Triple A Jacksonville threw the ball very well then he was called up towards the end of April two balls in a strike that was shortly after the series at Lone Depot Park between these two there’s a swing and miss he just dropped the curveball on him richard swung right through it two and two the count so you just hope he makes a mistake pitch just kind of hangs it somewhere in the middle of that strike zone let Randall take care of it lefty ready and here comes the 22 instead of stepping a throw to first Suarez was drifting towards second base fortunately back in there safely the New Mexico will likely leave Gritic in right field I’m guessing for the start of the seven two outs the two-2 high full count and a gap shot now has a great chance to score suarez will be getting a nice little lead be going with the pitch the payoff is fouled trying to tuck that curve ball right in the low inside corner but the injury to Corbin Carroll as earlier we talked about the starts for Herrera with the injury to Moreno a lot of starts for Randall three and two the count and here comes the pitch from Gibson swung on and fouled tried to sneak 94 past him and a good defensive swing there little high fast ball he connected on that that ball’s still going randle likes the ball middle in the 3-2 hammered on the ground to third it’s backhanded by Norby and the throw to first a good one it’s in time for the out the inning comes to an end and the Dbacks get a hit but don’t score they strand one and after six Marlins have a six to4 lead on the Morgan and Morgan Dbacks

swinging a foul by Sanchez two balls one strike six to four Marlins lead it we are in the seventh and quickly running out of time in this series opener i’m not sure if something happened that time if maybe Herrera hurt his finger or something he keeps showing but they’re ready to go now the 2-1 inside and that one escaped the clutches of Herrera three balls one strike down all right no walks going to come right after him here this is dangerous 3-1 pitch swing and a miss and that is going to fill up the count of three and two
i don’t know if Sanchez could swing any harder than he just did that time friday pitcher lefty hitter here’s 3-2 swung on that one fouled back he’ll do it again he was working on the ladder well up above the strike zone and Sanchez fell straight back the payoff is popped up long run for Suarez and not going to have a play off the top of the netting before Ricochet back onto the field they keep working him up high in the strike zone and it really doesn’t look like he can get on top of that ball at least with the swings that he’s taken so far in this at bat three and two the count remains the pitch is found away again this strange line here is a look at Perez and Enriquez for the Marlins yuri Perez Miami starter went four and a third innings allowed three runs all earned on two hits as this pitch is swung on and just cute fell he walked three struck out three gave up the one home run to McCarthy and Ronnie Enriquez the reliever behind him an inning and a third pitched one run allowed on two hits snow walks three strikeouts also surrendered a home run see the way they were those two pitchers were throwing you think they were better than that even check swing sanchez went around he started to run up the first base line and then he just gave up you turned back to the dugout
sanchez was swinging at anything i mean he was in swing mode after the third pitch of that at bat he chased the ball completely out of the strike zone but we’ll take it here’s Otto Lopez well now nobody on and the pitch to him is a breaking ball dropped in there for a strike lopez tonight for the Marlins is two for three now he swings and he is still at the plate after that foul ball and boy does he swing hard him and Ramirez the guy on deck man they both let it go this was a line drive and missed by the foul line by about two inches tell you what Alan Porter with the moves over there third he had to self-preservation
absolutely here comes the O2 swing and a miss got him with a slider and now two down on back-to- back strikeouts by Ginkle ginkle looking really good good looking slider had great shape to it no contest with that swing and that brings up Augustine Ramirez and the first pitch in the dirt from Genkl the count one ball and no strikes now the pitch swing and a miss violent swing and a count even at one and one and just showing you right now the hitters are letting Kevin know that his slider is elite right now he’s gotten some really ugly swings with it
there’s a strike it’s now one and two just the way he stands at the plate and the way he swings reminds me of another powerful swinging catcher guy who’s still playing now but got his reputation back when he was in New York here’s the one two swing and a miss got him with a slider and Kevin Ginkle strikes out the side in order here in the seventh and that sends us to the bottom of the seventh stretch time in the desert where the Marlins are holding on to a six to4 lead back after this on the Morgan

the new pitcher for the Marlins right-hander Calvin Coch a 29year-old out of UC Irvine in his fourth season in the majors he spent his entire career in the state of Florida two years with the Rays then he got traded to the Marlins this year an erra just under four in what will be his 34th appearance this season 13 runs allowed in 29 and two/3 innings pitched 26 strikeouts 13 walks the guys put the ball in play against him and Purdomo first pitch he takes inside for ball one switch hitter batting from the left side he’s already homerred today a two-run shot in the fifth it’s a 65 game with one out bottom of inning number seven and the one that’s slowing in two balls no strikes boy just any kind of base runner right now purdomo he’s got speed out there he’s also got pop he’s shown that this year you can’t just throw him pitches over the plate
here’s the two outside ball three and he can also work a walk about as well as anybody in baseball o’shea shakes his head as he comes set like he was shaking off the sign and the three 0 doesn’t matter that splits the plate in half another one of these guys traded from the Rays to the Marlins as a 3-1 like a statue he takes and Jim Wolf that late strike call three and two now up there just looking to get walked that was a pitch he could do some damage with there cutter a little bit inside but in the strike zone clearly there’s the 3-2 pitch that is a fast ball that missed high and outside ball four and before Catel comes to the plate we pause 10 seconds for station ID the Morgan and Morgan DBEX radio network kmvp FM
arizona Sports the local sports leader
on the Arizona Sports app and on 987 all right Candy here is the big man for the Diamondbacks and this right here feels like the big moment trailing by one runner at first and the first pitch is taken for a strike that was at the top of the zone a cutter and they count nothing and one
well this is the situation you really wanted patel coming up with somebody on base the one swing and a foul tip that was about a hard of a swing as you’re going to get you couldn’t pick a better fast ball to go after
i mean that was just metal middle hit it if you can and big cut he came up empty though nothing and two bosch he throws and he missed outside one ball two strikes the count double barrel action up in the Diamondback bullpen lefty Beaks is throwing here comes the one two breaking ball too high two balls two strikes the count O’Shea ready the two- two pitch missed outside had the count now full at three and two not really wanting to challenge Marte at all even after he got ahead in the count two pitches that really weren’t that close here comes the payoff and strike three called got him bounce ball bottom of the zone and Marte goes down watching yeah a little cutter like right at the bottom everything that these Marlin pitchers have been throwing it seems to have been up and he threw one down and normally Catel drops the head on that pitch but that time fooled him
six to five Miami leads we’re in the seventh and first pitch pave he goes after it fouls it back
boy another middle middle pitch pave with a big cut but just kind of pushed it foul
for Domo at first with two down o’shea pretty quick to the plate as his 01 tying outside almost an unintentional pitch out that time to make it a 1-1 count nommo leads the team with 12 stolen bases haven’s got a big gap at right center swings hits a liner caught at second by Edwards and the inning comes to an end dbebacks do get one back on the home run by Thomas and we go to the eighth it is the Marlins six and the Diamondbacks five on the more off base is coming in a brand new format join Lauren Gardner and Xavier Scrugs as they explore all the baseball buzz across social media pop culture and around the majors the Offace Podcast Sundays at 11:00 a.m eastern only on MLB Network the MLB Network podcast is here join your favorite on air personalities for unique perspectives in-depth interviews and untold stories from on and off the field the MLB Network podcast presented by New Balance sundays at 11:30 Eastern

going to dip back into that bullpen and they have called upon right-hander Taylor Scott call to the bullpen brought to you by Sanderson for the best plan in New Ford is at Sanderson Ford the Johannesburg native who played his high school baseball at Notre Dame Prep here in Scottsdale is on for his sixth appearance with the Diamondbacks and his first pitch to Kyle Sters is in off the plate for ball one been a bit of a turbulent start for Scott he’s allowed six runs in seven innings has just as many walks as he does strikeouts as now Sters takes a called strike and the count is even at one and one but right now Marlins leading six to five in the eighth just put a zero up on the board and give this team a chance now Ster swings at a high heater and he comes up empty one and two the count this bullpen as of late has really come together for the Diamondbacks had a great road trip josh and I talked about that several times as much malign and injured group as they have been as the one two now swing and a miss scott him with a beautiful change up the bullpen has flexed its muscles as of late what a guy like Scott can do is really give a different look to the pen most guys coming in throwing really hard as we’ve seen but he comes from a little bit low arm angle and relies on that change up and sinker and he gets a really good hitter and sters out in front and now the first pitch to the first baseman Wagaman is off the plate ball one talking stick resort playation is back stay in play with rates as low as under $29
i know what you’re thinking about
well there’s a foul maybe bring your station to the cation you might play Major League Baseball the amount of video game consoles that find themselves on the team playing count is one and one now the pitch is grounded to first again this is Tawa who has it and steps on the bag two down and that is going to bring up the right fielder Roberto Hernandez throw strikes get outs that’s exactly what he’s doing right now now you want to see him close the inning out ginkle perfect inning struck out the side in the seventh now Scott trying to get a 1238 and this pitch is a little bit low for ball one and is 0 for three with a couple of strikeouts a one pitch tried to check his swing did he no chris Seagull says he did not that’ll make it a 1-1 count came into this game hitting 340 in 17 big league games obviously a small sample size as that’s another check swing this time no swing two and one might as well check just in case two balls one strike and here comes a pitch that is on the edge for a strike two and two the count dex will have Tawa Suarez and Guriel coming up in the bottom of the eighth inning a two- two from Scott is just a tad bit low herrera had a tough time displaying the pitch
yeah that low arm angle and delivery when it starts down like that it really dips and he almost got him chasing right over the plate but down out of the strike zone full count nobody on two men down the Marlins lead six to five and the payoff that is swung on and barreled out towards deep left field and the Marlins going to get one back on the home run by Hernandez it is his second and it’s now 7 to five Miami the fast ball up in his own 92 but had a lot of the plate and when a ball that normally is sinking it’s not riding and able to catch up with that pretty easily second home run allowed by Scott that was an elevated sinker middle in yeah the sinker when you get it up in the zone it just flattens out like that and he put a swing on it
here’s Norby first pitch and he takes outside on the ball no strikes there’s a swing and a liner past the outstretched effort of Suarez down the left field line into the corner and into second is Norby with a double so with two outs the Marlins have gone homer double with the seven and eight hitters respectively and here’s the speedy Javier Senoha who tripled earlier in this game he’s had a nice night he’s got a walk scor a run and RBI triple not an easy out there hiding in the number nine spot right-handed hitter right-handed pitcher and the first pitch is down the middle for a strike well now it becomes even more paramount taylor Scott keep it at a two-run deficit one and it’s a little bit low splitter that time one ball one strike count really just got to get that ground ball here pop up anything
here’s the one-1 and dropped a breaking ball in there for a strike down in Scott’s favor at one and two yeah nice pitch nice placement more than anything down and away just nipped that outside corner marlins seven Diamondbacks five Dbacks have just five hits on the day made the most of them as this one too is swung on popped up that’ll scooch out of play he’ll do it again debac’s really giving him all the room in the world out in left center and that’s where he plugged the gap his last at bat with that triple not only that again Thomas not playing very deep either as the one-two pitch swing and a miss and he is down on strikes the inning comes to an end but the Marlins get a run on two hits and the home run by Hernandez sends us to the eighth it’s now a 7 to5 Miami lead

down by two the 1-1 pitch is low two balls one strike so the new outfield for the Marlins Javier Senoha moves to left you got Senoha in left Meyers in center Sanchez in right field and it’s now the 2-1 tried that front door breaking ball but he missed now the count in Tawa’s favor three balls in the strike bender really slings it out there wide arm angle and that ball never came back over the plate walks as good as a hit right now and the 3-1 pitch is a check swing dribbler right back to the pitcher who gloves steps and throws to first in time not what you’re looking for with a 3-1 count that’s a tough start to the inning
oh that was a gift for Bender i mean Tala had him right where he wanted to and tried to hold up his swing and just tapped it right back to him suarez two for three and the pitch from Bender inside ball one bender 30 years old this is his fourth season in the majors this year at 248 erra it’ll be his 34th appearance but he’s 1 and5 as that breaking ball in there for a strike one and one the count on Gino 25 strikeouts 15 walks it’s a little high for a high leverage reliever candy as now this 1-1 pitch is swung on and foul tipped well we’ve seen on just in this short inning here his balls all over the place that was another kind of a low arm angled breaking ball that he just really yanked one and two the count bender ready the pitch broken back grounder to third glove by Norby two shuffles later the throw to first in time and now two down for Guriel that ball had a chance to get by Norby but he stayed with it kept down on the ball and as he was moving to his left he gloved it threw him out on the year marlins relievers as that’s a broken back grounder right back to the pitcher he’ll underhand first in time a one two three inning and that will send us to the ninth marlins lead it seven to five on the Morgan and Morgan DBEX radio network

the Skipper joins Burns and Gambo Friday afternoons at 2:30 never miss another TEX conversation when you subscribe to the Arizona Sports YouTube channel arizona Sports 987 and the Arizona Sports app the local sports leader and the home of Arizona Diamondbacks baseball back’s front office focus Wednesday mornings at 11:45 on Arizona Sports 987 and the Arizona Sports app we make our way into the ninth inning marlins have a 75 lead now they’ve got the right part of the order coming up one two and three taylor Scott is still on the mound for Arizona chris Garajel alongside Tom Candyotti well definitely a big inning here to put that goose egg
first pitch swinging xavier Edwards grounds it to first on his back foot it’s glove by Tawa flips to Scott covering in time one pitch one out nice start here for Scott in the ninth inning great way to start just an easy two hopper you’d like to have some kind of momentum from your defense coming in if you have a clean one two three inning sometimes you get pitchers that are strikeout pitchers that can strike out the side kind of charge in but for a guy like Scott maybe just a quick three or four pitch inning get off the field and see what happens here’s Jesus Sanchez that ball stung in between first and second and a one out base hit sanchez has been swinging pitches all night long but they’ve been up in the zone and he can’t get to him that one wasn’t quite as high it was still up there trying to get it up there but he found pay dirt that time well now if you’re Scott just trying to get that double play ball get out of this inning backs trailing seven to five here in the ninth and now the right-hander comes set and first pitch Otto Lopez and he takes a breaking ball for a strike there’s the 01 pitch and that one’s low hey look mistakes errors they happen in baseball it’s part of the game but doesn’t take the sting away from the fact the Dbacks trail by two runs they’ve given up two unearned runs with some pretty avoidable defensive mistakes in this game
yeah they weren’t tough ones one-1 throw to first you’ve heard myself Candy probably at times Coley gripe about sometimes base hits being awarded when you could make an argument these were errors but the two errors today for the Diamondbacks anyone anywhere could easily rule that it was a defensive mistake there’s a swing and a ball hit towards the gap in deep left center field thomas on his horse looking up it’s gone and Otto Lopez into the overhang with a moonshot home run as he is likely put this one out of reach it’s now 9 to5 split finger it was little bit elevated up in the zone and a little bit on the inside part of the plate and he just didn’t miss that it went up on the overhang just kind of stayed right there i think he was hoping that ball would dip but it did not it dipped out of here second home run of the game allowed by Scott his third in the last two appearances yeah the ball’s been flying here in Chase Field tonight and the first pitch is off the mark for ball one there is Augustine Ramirez the one pitch to him and Scott just missed two balls no strikes rightander ready two pitch and that one dropped in there for a strike it’s two and one now the two on that’s a called strike two and two here on the right-handed hitting Ramirez from the belt right-handers two- two pitch is a line shot up the middle into center field it got past two gloves first the reaction of Scott then the shorts stop Purdomo and that’s another base hit for this Marlins offense well no one played up the middle that time i think they’re expecting him to pull a little bit at least Purdomo was and he just shot it really hard up the middle 99 mph well you can understand what the strategy here is for the Diamondbacks again we talked about it before you’re coming off your last off day of the first half you’ve got I think 17 games in 17 days you’re trying to manage your bullpen and you’re you’re down but you know unfortunately this is a situation where the Dbags you make a choice with a pitcher you’re hoping that in a a non-winning situation that your non-leveraged guy can come through and unfortunately for Scott it just hasn’t been his night three runs allowed on five hits two homers and while the Diamondbacks are not out of it they could easily score four in the ninth you are asking a ton for your offense when they had just brought it to within one
yeah that one when it was a one-run game you felt like you this is it you got a chance and now the runner just takes off Ramirez and steals second nobody covering the bag not even a throw 9 to5 our score one out for Kyle Sters miss with the pitch now the one and Sters a swing and miss one and one the count from the belt here comes the one-1 pitch from Taylor Scott and Ster swings grounds it foul brings the batter to a knee and the count is one and two star way he’s been swinging the bat tonight i mean this kid looks like he’s ready to take another step marlin’s very happy with him that a step and a check and Ramirez back to second safely one two swing and a miss he got sters to chase he’s down on strikes and now there are two down for the first baseman Wagaman i
think that’s the pitch he was trying to throw to Lopez the splitter that was down and really went down and Styus chases it out of the strike zone runner at second two down and the first pitch from Scott is swung on that is fouled straight back into the third deck no balls one strike to count wagamin tonight hitless marlins have pounded out 13 hits the Dbacks just the five and unfortunately none of his teammates willing to share with Wagace hanging on to an over
they combined six home runs tonight three of for each team and that one is low one ball one strike count on deck the catcher Nick Forez who has not had an at bat tonight and here comes the 1-1 swung on popped up should end the inning it’s a short stop for Domo just onto the first blades of turf he makes the catch and that’ll do it for the Marlins they tack on two on three hits the two-run homer by Lopez sends us to the ninth diamondbacks four to tie the big hits all the greats you got to be kidding me and all the swagger relive the day’s biggest plays all in one lightning fast hour space show you better believe it
quick pitch late nights and early mornings only on MLB Network let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term today’s phrase is oppo taco do you know what it means taco a home run hit to the opposite field with ano taco his 13th and it’s a one-run game

what a beautiful pass of the ball that was we said he likes throwing the ball he’s got some movement going away from a lefty and he goes just textbook with the pitch and just rewards himself with a base hit to left now you got top of the order already homerred tonight the pitch to him is low and inside and now you can just imagine for the pitcher the pressure starting to tighten here’s the one and that is outside two balls no strikes right now is trying to pass the baton from one teammate to the next phillips ready and the two is taken for a strike a veteran move there by Purdoma yeah middle middle fast but he was in take mode all the way going to make him throw a strike with the bases loaded not now if he gets his pitch though here’s the 2-1 check swing foul on a pitch just a smidge off the outer third it’s now two and two phillips ready the two two pitch and that’s low base is loaded nobody out purdomo the tying run at the plate could tell the winning run on deck and a 95 ball game walks as good as a hit right now the 3-2 and that’s low ball four he has walked in a run the Marlins have still not recorded and out and the Diamondbacks one magical swing away from a walk-off got the tying run now at first base and with some speed and Catel who hasn’t done much tonight but he’s an extra base hit machine well you knew this was going to prompt a mound visit from pitching coach Daniel Moscus we have not seen much of him well we said it his last time up that this was the big man for the Diamondbacks looking for the big moment perhaps that at bat wasn’t meant to be perhaps right now a chance to give the Diamondbacks another improbable ninth inning win he’s been the hottest hitter in this lineup in the month of June and he couldn’t be in a better spot bases are loaded nobody out he’s got to throw him a strike you would think and let’s see if he can elebrate and then allow all of us to celebrate first pitch swing and a miss he was banking exactly what you were saying but he got a breaking ball in the dirt the 01 pitch and that’s low well he’s all over the place marlins have someone throwing in the bullpen in case they want to pull the plug on Phillips 96 our score bases loaded the pitch swing and a miss and a count now at one and two
well you’ll see missed too many pitches like that that was 95 pretty much the middle of the plate just a little tail on it if he wanted to you would think with his hands he could serve a base hit into left center a one two from Phillips strike three called and Catel knew it he knew it he was just waiting for the call which like you’ve been saying all game has been delayed and for Clayton McCulla and the Marlins a huge sigh of relief now a double play ball would end it as the Dbacks are still trailing by three winning run at the plate one out haven 0 for four three strikeouts first pitch in the dirt diving to his right is Forz they have a count one ball no strikes just wants to keep the ball off the ground needs the ball in the air here double left center would be perfect one that is low two balls no strikes much like Purdomo he’s got a very good eye here comes the two- pitch check swing and that foul ball nearly took the helmet off of Tim Tawa on deck it’s two and one they even look for something middle in right here two-1 swung on that’s ripped into right center field thomas scores here comes Herrera peromo to third it’s a one-run ball game what a beautiful pass of the ball a high outside fast and Pavement just put a perfect level swing on this ball and drilled it into center field scoring two more and now Dbacks with runners at the corner and now the Marlins are going to have to bring the infield in the tying run at third the winning run at first and a chance for Tim Tawa to send everyone home happy for the Diamondbacks he had an accidental check swing comebacker his last time up and now Phillips he’s set infield in the pitch swing and a miss well that’s a slider i got to believe you’re going to throw a couple more after seeing that swing he was very fooled by that pitch the 01 from Phillips is on the way swinging a miss again the count nothing at two same pitch same result now for you just got to be a little bit disciplined you’ve seen the same pitch twice now on the outside should be able to recognize it now phillips ready the O2 in the dirt wonderful block made by Forz given the stakes i mean that’s that’s how you teach it yeah i mean textbook he just wanted to block it keep the guy at third base that’s Purdomo blaze Alexander the pinch runner at first here’s the one-two pitch swung on qe to second they’ll flip over to Lopez for one and the throw to first in time that’s a double play and the Marlins hang on and win by a final score of 9-8 heartbreak Hotel for the Diamondbacks they were oh so close for another magical comeback but not meant to be and Candy and I will wrap it up right after this on the Morgan and Morgan Bags radio network bear down for UFA night at Chase Field on July 22nd this special event ticket pack includes a lower level ticket and a co-branded UVA cap visit vbbacks.com/Uova hi this is Luis Gonzalez with the Arizona Diamondbacks inviting you to the final days of true employee pricing at Arizona’s largest Ford dealership Sanderson Ford it’s been a great run but it’s coming to an end on July 7th now it’s time to purchase a new 2025 Bronco Sport for only 20 take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following
