This is an absolute HEIST for the Rangers…

this is an absolute heist for the New York Rangers as the Rangers have gotten multiple steals in this year’s NHL entry draft according to multiple insiders and analysts we’re going to break down exactly who these players are what they bring to the Rangers organization and the subsequent moves the Rangers are going to make now that the NHL entry draft is done some of these players will be included we’re going to break that down and all the moves that are going to happen before Tuesday because it’s going to be absolute insanity heading into free agency just a couple days away we’re going to break that all down in this episode of Rangers Digest but before we do that a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button about 77% of you who watch these videos are not subscribed to the channel so if you want to stay up to date with everything that’s happening with your New York Rangers go down below hit that free subscribe button because this is the place to be for all your daily New York Rangers content but let’s get right into it we have the full list of the Rangers draft class from the 2025 NHL draft i’m going to go through them very quickly and we’re going to deep dive into almost every single player on this list because first of all Muel Ericson absolute steal we’re going to get into that malcolm Spence absolute steal we’re going to get into some quotes from Malcolm Spence right now we’re going to do a deep dive on all of these players but this is a very good draft class couple other names to keep an eye on too shawn Barnhill looks like he’s going to be a pretty sturdy defenseman and of course Samuel Jung is an interesting draft pick as well just a couple names that I’ve heard out there already but let’s dive right into it i want to start with Malcolm Spence just to piggyback off of a video we did earlier Brett and I on Malcolm Spence and what he brings to the lineup and this is from Malcolm Spence himself and he said it’s something pretty special uh Car and this is him obviously getting drafted to the same team that now obviously Carrie Terren is on because he came over in the trade for uh Chris Krider and he said “Carri’s one of my closest friends he usually spends time at my house during the summer and we will come down and hang out and beyond hockey we’re just really really good friends off the ice so for me to be in an organization where I have one of my best friends there it’s a pretty cool feeling knowing that I got to be there with Carrie on the daily just like I did the past three years obviously they played together with the Eerie Otterers in the OHL it’s pretty remarkable really excited to see him he also went on to say I was watching uh obviously his interview and his press that he was doing afterward and he said that he was very happy to be drafted by the New York Rangers because he wanted to go to a team that wanted him and obviously you know it’s no surprise that he kind of fell in the draft he was expected to go in the first round and he went on to say um that he’s been a leader his whole life and he’s going to continue to do that with the New York Rangers i love this kid he has a great attitude he has a lot of confidence and he plays with a lot of confidence and uh his own evaluation of his game he said “I’m a fast physical player that plays with a lot of pace high-end skill i’m going to be a guy that plays in all situations i’m going to be a guy that’s called upon for his teammates whatever they need.” And we were talking about that Brett and I earlier today in a video where we were breaking down this draft pick specifically and we were saying that this is a guy who can be a middle six forward in the future and not only that like he just mentioned he can play in every single situation we don’t know what the team’s going to look like in let’s say you know 3 or 5 years time he can play on the power play he can definitely play on the penalty kill he had 10 short-handed goals in the OHL which is absolutely insane he can play on the penalty kill and of course he can play five on five so I love that and I wanted to get into one last quote here from director of player personnel John Lily and he went on to say that Malcolm is an excellent winger 200 foot player power play PK plays the game the right way doesn’t cheat the game we value him for a or we valued him for a few years now watched him play quite a bit in Erie he’s been with a lot of Team Canada events and we’re happy that he is here at pick number 43 he went on to say that I think he was projected to go quite a bit higher so when we had the opportunity to pick him we were thrilled to get him in that spot and we think he’s got a lot of potential and a high character player so by all accounts this guy is going to be an absolute stud he should be a differencemaker at the NHL level the only thing I will say that could be a holdup here is the Rangers player development staff they need to be able to start developing these players they haven’t been able to do that they do have a better NHL coach that I think can actually work with younger players now at this point but that’s not even where it starts that’s kind of where it ends when they’re already on the team you have to develop these players properly and I am so hoping that the Rangers can do that with Malcolm Spence because I think he’s gonna actually be a very special player but let’s get into some other of the uh you know draft picks that they made here uh last thing I’ll mention is he actually has a 57% chance in terms of advanced analytics of being at a regular NHLer which for a second round pick is actually pretty high and pretty encouraging so I love to see that but obviously the Rangers development staff has to get to work on there uh another draft pick that they made is Shawn Barnhill who’s a very large 6’4 defenseman 205 lbs at 18 years old they picked him 70th overall uh you can see here that he was playing with the Fighting Saints in the USHL he played 54 games he had only 11 points this is another guy I mean similar in a way to EJ Emory last year where I think EJ Emory has more upside in terms of being a regular everyday NHLer but this is a guy who could surprise I think as he continues de to develop he’s another big body right shot down defenseman so I think this could be a very it turned out to be a very interesting pick for the New York Rangers so let me know in the comments how you feel about that pick another sturdy large right shot defenseman there for the Rangers i am not sure if he’s going to make the NHL anytime soon he seems like another project player but could be an interesting one now uh the next draft pick was Lefty and there’s been some uh controversy with this guy’s first name it’s Artium and it wasn’t spelled that way on the draft board or something like that so it’s actually Artium Gonchar and he’s actually the nephew of Sergey Gonchar former NHLer who’s won multiple Stanley Cups so this one’s a very interesting one his NHL projection is a depth defenseman he’s a good two-way defenseman uh light defender and a power play quarterback so this is an interesting one that at some point maybe in the future could quarterback the power play as an option there you know will he even make the NHL that remains to be seen you can see his point production here 50 games played last season in the MHL uh which is the Junior League for the KHL and he had 25 points in those 50 games as a left shot defenseman again nephew of a former Stanley Cup champion so pretty interesting pick for me there i would say definitely a two-way defenseman from everything I’ve seen in terms of the advanced analytics but more offensively minded just slightly more offensively minded than defense which is not necessarily a bad thing you like to get goals from your back end the next uh uh I just wanted to touch on this again to get back to um Sean Barnhill really quick before we move on to the rest of the draft picks guys who maybe won’t make it but could be some diamonds in the rough you never know i I do like one guy in particular could be a steal uh great selection by the New York Rangers athletic defender with size and intensity so he’s a big boy but he uh he can get around very athletic closes gaps well even flashes offensive upside as a puck mover because of his strong linear speed so he can move the puck but more defensively minded and obviously brings that physicality he can close gaps well and I think that’s a that’s definitely a big thing especially in the playoffs you see so many players in the playoffs especially defenseman can’t close gaps very well and that’s uh that’s the difference sometimes so I do like that he already has that uh added to his game now this I think is the steel of the draft for the New York Rangers a lot of people are talking about male uh and hopefully I’m pronouncing this correctly but male Ericson at 111th overall and he’s a center who notched 43 points 22 goals 21 assists in 40 games uh in Sweden in the Junior 20 National League i believe that’s Junior J20 National League in Sweden and uh he’s also from Norway and there was a lot of Norway and Norwegian uh representatives in this year’s draft which is nice to see so uh represented Norway national uh internationally as well while he’s on the national team and he was also one of the youngest players in the draft he turns 18 on September 13th so just narrowly missed that deadline to be a late birthday and be drafted next year so still a lot of room for him to grow a lot of growth there you can see here a lot of these are very encouraging for where he got drafted uh in the draft sorry this is a different player but you can see a lot of the numbers and a lot of what people are talking about on Twitter uh very encouraging numbers that’s for sure the next player we’ll get into is Zeb Lingren who’s another defenseman out of the same league in Sweden he’s 6’1 198 pounds so still a lot of room to grow as well very encouraging advanced analytics i’ll leave it at that for that one uh because again some of these guys you know as you know he does have uh an NHL comparable of Jackson Lome who’s playing with the Anaheim Ducks and actually had a very successful first NHL season so that’s a good comparable but I’ll leave it at that for that one we can deep dive into that in another video this one I thought was interesting because a lot of people were like “Hey um can’t find anything about this guy out there.” And if you look at his advanced analytics and some of the charts like this one there’s almost nothing on there so this one’s interesting obviously you have scouts if you’re the Rangers out there watching uh games and all that throughout the year and scouting so maybe they saw something that you know aren’t isn’t necessarily out to the public but uh thought this one was interesting very much off the board uh very very interesting one there and stat boy Steven chiming in and saying that some very exciting names here love the Spence and Erikson picks i think you know Spence Spence is just a no-brainer to me this is a great player uh and he’s going to be playing with Carrie Terrence uh in the system as well so made a lot of sense to me and Erikson I like that pick as well i think he’s going to be a sleeper pick uh heading into the future should be a good one maybe a steel a lot of people are throwing steel around this year with some of the players that the Rangers uh picked and Evan Pasmore is uh a pick that they made in the sixth round he also seemed like a no-brainer to Stat Boy steven you can see here um you know his NHL comparable is Zack Whitecloud he’s a defenseman another big defenseman a theme here for the New York Rangers 6’5 212 pounds already as an 18-year-old plays for the Barry Colts in the OHL big physical lowrisk with the puck so he just likes to make the play he’s able to make that play in those uh you know dangerous situations i like this pick and if you’re compared to Zack Whitecloud he’s a Stanley Cup champion so not bad at all i think that’s a good comparable for the New York Rangers as well and uh the last one we’ll touch on here is their last pick of the draft uh Felix Farhammer he was 203rd overall scored 21 points three goals 18 assists in 43 games in the same league in Sweden as well the Junior League and he actually appeared in two games for the SHL club as well so he’s called up to the men’s league in Sweden so left shot defenseman with two-way instinct so very similar to another draft pick uh that they made earlier in the draft in Gonchar as well so very interesting draft for the New York Rangers let me know how you feel and what you think about some of these draft picks in uh the system now i think Malcolm Spence is going to be an absolute stud hopefully they develop him properly take their time with him as well because I think he’s going to be a really good potential middle six player for this New York Rangers squad and can do everything all over the ice and play in every situation and that is very valuable and some of the picks later in the rounds as well really really uh like some of these picks I have to be honest like Zeb Lingren I think this is uh another really good pick and honestly the one to look out for for me is going to be Evan Pazmore another big body very very late in the draft uh but I feel like he could be a differencemaker and maybe actually develop a little bit faster than people realize and he’s playing in the OHL so uh we’ll obviously keep eyes on him as he continues to progress in let me know how you feel in the comments about all of these draft picks again very interesting draft for the New York Rangers uh and if you haven’t yet hit that subscribe button so you can stay up to date with everything New York Ranchers

  1. spence is pretty good in the OHL ,, hope he can develop his skills to play in the nhl , and with #71 pick we got a d-man who had 11 points in 54 games .. WHOO HOO.look out ovechkin .! he better work his butt off as a d-man cause there's not gonna be much scoring from him..guess we'll see on both . FIRE DRURY YESTERDAY !

  2. with all these 18 yr olds…that pressure of getting a sure pick in the 1st round is pretty iffy. at least round 2 on, there's less expectations and less pressure. you never know how teenagers will develop into pros. either way congrats to all the draft picks & good luck!

  3. Eriksen is my favorite pick. If he was born 3 days later he’d be in next years class. And good chance he’d be a 1st or at worst a 2nd round talent. But let’s see if we can develop him 😂

  4. You keep showing Chris Drury. WHY? F**k Benedict Arnold😢. He has to listen to Gary Bettman. We need more finesse more, speed. We need more rainbow and pride. We need more Eastern Europeans, they're great in the regular season. Somebody please tell me one good thing Gary bettman has done since becoming commissioner. The TV rating suck. And now his butt plug Chris Drury is going to make the Rangers tough again. And then turn them into a finesse team again. Get rid of that piece of s*it. 🎉😂❤ PS both of them.

  5. Spence dropped because he was perceived to be a power forward and measure way smaller than expected at the combine. Doubtful his playing style will translate to the NHL.

  6. We couldn’t develop a photograph…the draft really isn’t the rangers forté
How bought we just let small market teams take these picks, develop them and we swoop in a outbuy everyone…I’m tired..really tired e Dey year listening to this stuff and what happens…same shit
Once in a while we might develop a player here and there but cmon!
