Did Brooklyn Nets Just Pull Off the PERFECT Draft Strategy?

a lot has been said about what Shawn Marks did with his five first round picks in the NBA draft i’ve seen draft grades anywhere from C to F but really nothing good look the Brooklyn Nets had a tough year there’s no way of going about it too many dribble handoffs that didn’t work too slow in transition too low in pick and roll efficiency but in this year’s draft they targeted five very specific player today we’re breaking down why the Nets picked Jagor Dein Nolan Trayor Drake Powell Ben Sarath and Danny Wolf and we’re going to take a look at how each one fits into their future let’s get into it [Music] first up Yay Gord mean a tall point guard with elite passing and pick and roll vision the Nets desperately need someone to run those dribble handoffs more effectively and Demean can definitely be that guy he’s going to help turn those static half court sets into opportunities for open shots and smart drives he has some work to do with his shooting and explosiveness but the passing and size are rare and could be molded into a starting point guard wall next is Nolan Trayor someone who came into the year with everyone assuming he was going to be a top 10 pick an explosive guard who can help the Nets pick up the pace brooklyn finished bottom seven in transition points and bottom three in transition frequency last season trayori can attack the rim create space and add that dynamic element that’s been missing for this team he also gives their pick and roll offense some muchneeded punch but the challenge developing a shooting and overall assertiveness then you’ve got Drake Powell a long athletic 3 and D wing this is a perfect fit honestly for any team in the NBA but specifically for the Nets the Nets were ETH in three-point attempts and second in percentage of their threes being assisted making Pal an ideal fit as a spot-up shooter and perimeter defender as one scout put it Ben Saraf can make every single pass there is and more he brings sharp pick and roll instincts and creative passing that can help fix the Nets bottom six ranking and pick and roll points he has a great feel for the game and can make those dribble handoffs and half court sets more productive the key for him as we’ve seen with the other draft prospects will be refining his shooting and adapting to NBA length and speed finally Danny Wolf a point forward in a big man’s body the Nets operate in a much slower more structured halfourt style making Wol’s passing and floor spacing a really valuable fit he can connect the offense run pick and roll run the DHO and make plays from the high post his biggest test will be adding quickness for NBA defense and making sure that his shooting transmits these five picks aren’t random at all these address the Nets’s biggest needs smarter pick and roll execution more transition playmaking reliable 3 and D roll pieces dynamic ball movement and connectivity brooklyn’s trying to make a team that’s not going to be static and slow but more balanced and more structured and that’s what these five prospects are for so which of these five prospects excites you the most let us know down in the comments and if you like this breakdown make sure to like and subscribe for more content coming up very soon thanks for watching and we’ll see you next time

  1. People talk about this "strategy", I call bullshit. Does Marks and Tsai really believe the Nets will have people willing to watch them tank again? Because tanking is exactly what they are going to do. No thanks buddy. You can sugar coat this BS all you want.

  2. The 5 picks collectively make sense, high feel, high upside talents that bring skills that the Nets lack. Plus Jordi and the coaching staff got alot out of 2way guys last season, I'd imagine that they'll get a fair amount out of this draft class in 2025-26.
