Road to The Show: Brandon Pfaadt | Arizona Diamondbacks

brandon Fawn is delivering big time giving the Diamondbacks exactly what they needed tonight tweak and event struck him out and F struts off the mound [Music] do you have a first baseball memory t-ball backyard whiffle ball little league at my grandfather’s house we would always that was kind of the first time we were introduced to baseball and we’d play whiffle ball in the backyard the fence was probably I want to go 25 yards away and I remember we finally got to the point where we could start hitting the whiffle ball over the fence so I remember getting on the mound for the first time at 9 years old and and I loved it i loved pitching i loved hitting uh so I loved hitting homers as much as I liked striking people out now I we’ve talked about this before but coming out of high school no do you want offers was that
No no offers just going to a small school um I didn’t really know I would end up where I would be now um I think looking back at it it was like oh maybe I could have got a shot at a bigger school but you know I’m grateful for for where I ended up at Bellereman and everything that happened throughout my my journey
now there’s a family legacy with Bellereman right there is my my grandfather started it all he’s a professor there uh my dad works there my my two aunts went there uh it’s kind of a family school i got to play baseball with with both of my brothers [Music] with the 149th pick of the 2020 MLB draft the Arizona Diamondbacks select right-handed pitcher Brandon Fought from Bellereman University
2020 is a weird year to get drafted what was that experience like for you
it was weird it was all new to me i didn’t know what to expect and we were kind of projected in that round two through six and obviously there was only five rounds so finally got a call after it was probably 6 hours later we were all getting a little anxious and um got a call and that the Dbacks wanted to draft me and and we were all super excited because not a lot of people from Bellerin get that opportunity and uh we were just grateful but then again it was a weird time because CO was happening so I didn’t really hear anything for for a few months and then not till October finally got to come out here and and go to Instructs
so how long was that limbo period that’s really That must be difficult cuz they can’t tell you what they’re going to do cuz they don’t know cuz they didn’t know everything was up in limbo pretty much but uh finally that was my first flight ever was out here interesting
really
uh yeah so my first flight was actually in 2020 out here to Arizona i remember so I got here late that night so everything was dark i couldn’t see anything out of my Uber um I I remember waking up in the morning opening up the curtains of the hotel room and seeing mountains you could see as far as you wanted and I was like “This is weird cuz I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.” And there were no trees nothing and just just mountains and completely different completely unique but now it’s normal for Brandon F making his World Series debut the
cracks is B and a bouncer back to F there’s one there’s two
that World Series it’s I mean considering that journey very if you look at it a very brief period of time you’ve really been through a lot how have you handled it yeah it was like I got drafted yesterday and uh time flies and I think
all the experiences come into play and and build who I am the player I am today and just taking not not taking anything for granted and and using those experiences to my advantage

  1. Brandon has been doing terrible.

I think his problem is where he’s placing strikes over the plate against specific batters. You gotta learn your enemy.

Every strike can’t be down the middle in the MLB. The Dodgers will crush that shit outta the park every time. And that’s where he gets in trouble.

Being a pitcher is a huge mental game.

  2. Brandon is not there best. He doesnt know how to hit the corners and he gives up to many home runs. Hopefully this pitching coach can teach his pitchers how to pitch. Diamond back pitchers are so inconsistent its hurting the team. This team has no identity. There so inconsistent. Even merril kelly which hes been the best. I think alot of pitchers showed up out of shape. Lot of injuries to pitchers maybe out of shape and trying to throw 100 mph. That not finesse pitching.
