So what has me a bit baffled here is if Toronto was trying to do the sign and trade with Vegas, they would’ve had to give Vegas the okay to negotiate the contract before the trade. So how the hell are you going to prove tampering. The deal they offered to Marner is the same one they would be offering him with the sign and trade. Maybe I’m just missing something idk

These things are nearly impossible to prove, and all sports worldwide have struggled with this, to the point that its now basically an open secret that it goes on. The biggest reason that nothing will happen here is the same as we see with all of these examples; if Toronto go after Vegas, then someone else will go after the Leafs – because you know they will have done it too – and this will kick off a chain reaction throughout the league.
