“Ayton, who turns 27 next month, had $35.6 million left on his contract, which was set to expire next summer. Ayton and his representatives approached the Blazers about a buyout and Ayton wanting to play in a winning situation, sources said.

He is now free to sign with any team, including those in both aprons, despite earning greater than $14.1 million. The waiver restriction that would normally prevent a player with Ayton's contract from signing with a team in the second apron applies only during the regular season, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.”

  1. Lakers told him to do it

It all makes sense, reject mark williams cus u and Ayton agree to a deal for next season.

  2. So when he was in a winning situation he basically quit on the team. Then he was in a losing situation but now wants to be in a winning situation.

    Diva

  3. most obvious laker lol

they can get a center and also upgrade lol fuck this shit man

  4. Lakers probably poached.

…but they don’t know that Ayton will get the last laugh.

  5. How does a buyout work? Does he get paid that $35.6m from Portland, then his new contract goes on top of that? Does he get that number regardless and the new contract just reduces the bill for Portland? Is the buyout for less than the owed value?

  6. when this happens, the player usually goes to a team that’s supposed to be way better but finishes worse than the team he leaves

so congratulations Portland, you’re going to be better than Ayton’s next team

  7. No I think he just wants a new contract and knows the Blazers aren’t going to max him, so he wants to get to a desperate team asap

  8. He wants to be on a “winning team” for visibility, so he can get another big deal after this season, lol. I support my Nigerian brother. Go catch lobs from Luka and LeBron for a year and then go get a second bag.

  9. This is a guy that could get 15+10 in sleepwalking. I never understood why he couldn’t play harder.

  10. He is still a very good player when he actually tries. He was probably Portlands’ best player during their long winning streak.

  11. More like he saw himself losing minutes to younger players during the last year of his contract.

  12. So what’s the number!!!

We can dissect this shit until the cows come home…

    “Spin it” however you want…

    What’s the number?

  13. Built like Wilt Chamberlain but soft like butter. He could be so much more.

  14. LMAO! Deandre you had a winning situation and you didn’t want to work to help the team get better and just wanted a max contract that you didn’t deserve. and ultimately that winning situation disappeared because no one could stand you work ethic or effort.
