ressigned with different teams we’re going to get into it it’s going to be a really fun episode so if you’re watching on YouTube make sure to hit the like button if you can does help out the channel want make sure to give us a fivestar review wherever you get your podcast but let’s get into today’s episode so right out the gate the Detroit Pistons resigned Bball Paul Reed two years $11 million this is coming from Shams Corania of ESPN so they ink their third string center Paul Reid now look I thought Paul Reid last year for what it was worth when his number was called he produced he didn’t get to play a whole lot because Isaiah Stewart was the backup center for Jaylen Duran and in the minutes Paul Reed played I thought he did a pretty good job um and when Stu was injured in the playoffs he did his best to kind of contain Mitchell Robinson and Carl Anthony Towns but it was just you know the Knicks were just a really big team in the front court and gave him some difficulties for what it’s worth I mean it’s it’s a third string center that you know that’s reliable um I’m sure JB is really comfortable uh with Paul Reed just me personally I would have rather the Pistons maybe been a little bit more cheap in terms of a third string center like getting a guy on a bets minimum i think they kind of overpaid Paul Reed a little bit but that’s just my opinion uh could they have got a a cheaper center on the market i’m not really entirely sure but that’s just my opinion on on the signing i was kind of like uh okay kind of like a meth signing like cool’s coming back but that was one of the first moves that the Detroit Pistons uh did make in free agency uh one of the uh second moves that we saw was they decided to go after Caris Levert now there was reports that the Pistons were really zeroing in on two players it was Nquila Alexander Walker who we’ll talk about in a little bit where he went and Caris Levert now they gave him a 2-year $29 million contract now for what it’s worth I’m not really a big fan of the Caris Levert signing as of right now like free agency uh just started it’s 6:00 it’s 10:30 at night i’m kind of like okay Caris Levert cool uh the Mal Malik Beasley situation is you know still up in the air we we really don’t know what’s going to happen with him in the long term and I’ll kind of you know touch on him at the end of the podcast and why I think it kind of maybe put a a fork in the road for the Detroit Pistons free agency plans but I mean if you’re plugging in Harris Levert that can play shooting guard and small forward cool uh you know 14 points a game my my only thing with him is just like he’s not always available and he does get hurt which I think is somewhat of a red flag but if he can stay healthy I think he’s at least a guy that can you know initiate some offense off the bench in the pick and roll um kind of an average three-point shooter average defender i I I’m just not like really like pounding the table like we got Caris Levert like I know he’s a Michigan guy he’s coming back home but I wasn’t really in love with the idea of Caris Levert when I saw the report but I mean they signed him for two years and that that’s that like I I don’t really have anything more to say maybe you guys can kind of talk me off a ledge uh if you are watching live on YouTube i’m I’m just not really in love with the signing um I know some of you guys reached out to me on Twitter you’re not really in love with the signing either um but again I think the Malik thing kind of changed the Pistons plans um in just my personal opinion I could be wrong there uh one of the other moves that we did see really early in free agency was Santi Alama so Santi Alama actually resigned with the Memphis Grizzlies he signed a three-year $52 million deal now that was a guy that I thought that the Detroit Pistons were really going to actually target um and you know the AAV on it is 17 and a half million a year pistons had 17 million in gap space uh so they would have had to you know create a little bit more whether that’s trading someone um and I don’t really think that they were really going to you know possibly you know blow up the roster to go try to get into the restricted free agency with Santi Alama and the Memphis Grizzlies i think it’s a good value for the Grizzlies as well i thought they’ve had a you know a pretty good free agency um as well resigning Santi locking down Jiren Jackson Jr and I believe I saw Taius Jones earlier tonight so uh they’re having a pretty decent free agency uh so far but the Santi news I was kind of like damn like I really wanted a stretch five or a stretch four on this team but maybe we’re going to have to wait until next year maybe they can possibly trade for somebody or sign someone in free agency i I I just don’t know that that was one player that I saw very early on um in free agency uh we touched on the kill Alexander Walker when we were talking about Caris Levert because that was a player that Mark Stein reported that the Pistons and the Hawks were the two teams that were the most interested in signing him he got a deal from the Atlanta Hawks now he got a four-year deal for $64 million and the Hawks did send uh I think a couple of draft picks i I saw the Brett Seagull from clutchpoints.com reported to the Timberwolves so four years $64 million the AAV is 16 million a year um I think Atlanta had a really good first day of free agency as well they also signed Luke Canard which I don’t know where they’re getting all this money from but they got Luke Canard Nila Alexander Walker they traded for Kristoff Porzingis um they’re having a pretty good offseason as well they’re improving their roster in the Eastern Conference which um I expect Atlanta to be you know a much improved team as well but I mean Nikquila Alexander Walker I kind of was opening up to the idea of going after him and signing him as a Piston fan because uh I didn’t really know what was going to happen uh going into free agency and I thought if you got a plus defender like him it would you know help out your uh defense but you’re going to have to cross him off the list as well as Santi Alama so he’s going to the Atlanta Hawks which I was like man that sucks it really does uh we did see Dennis Schroeder as well um signed with the Kings now this is where it kind of gets interesting it was reported by The Athletic fred Katz I believe was the journalist that uh reported it and he’s a very wellrespected journalist um and he stated that the Kings did sign him now it hasn’t been official which makes you kind of believe could it be a sign and trade opportunity with the Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings the Pistons did have Dennis’s early bird rights which there could be a sign and trade situation and I was scrolling the timeline on Twitter and this isn’t official um this is just what people are speculating and talking about is could there be a sign and trade situation with Dennis Schroeder for a Malik Monk because there were reports that Malik or not Malik uh Dennis excuse me was looking for the full midle around 14 million uh that was a report that came from Mark Stein and Jake Fischer is that’s what his market was gauging to be so there could be a sign and trade situation with the Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings where maybe the the Pistons possibly get a player in return uh from the Sacramento Kings which I think would be really huge because as of right now I mean maybe you bring Tim Hardway Jr back i’m not really sure what he’s asking for the Malik Beasley situation no one is even talking to him uh because of the investigation of the alleged gambling uh so there’s that i mean if the Pistons could get a a Malik Monk I think it would be a very big uh opportunity for them to get a player of his stature really good you know sixman off the bench can shoot threes can score at all three levels very athletic uh I I would love that I if um the Detroit Pistons don’t really know how the second round Kings uh feel about a Malik Monk some some people in the Kings community have said that he’s kind of the odd man out uh with the Zack Lavine trade um in Demard Broen and all those guys over there but I mean if the Pistons do eventually make a sign and trade deal with the Kings for Dennis Schroeder um that would be pretty exciting i I just don’t know what’s going to happen it’s day one of free agency i’m sure we’re going to get a bunch of more free agent signings possible trades and rumors uh heating up in the coming days but I did want to end the podcast with this really short podcast only about 10 to 15 minutes i don’t want to waste too much of you guys’ time the Malik Beasley situation i I really think you guys really screwed the Pistons plans up because we got a report from Trump’s Karan yesterday that the Pistons were going to sign Malik to a three-year $42 million deal and bring him back they resigned Paul Reid i honestly think they were really going to run it back and maybe add a piece or two um and keep building on what they had from last season winning 44 games i think as soon as this Malik Beasley allegations came out they were not going to sit on their hands they weren’t going to wait to see whether Malik Beasley was innocent or guilty uh we just saw this morning that Terry Roier had a very similar situation to Malik Beasley of alleged gambling it took up to five months for his name to get cleared he just got cleared today i don’t know how long Malik Beasley’s case is going to take i don’t want to speculate or anything like that we really don’t know it could you know be a week it could be five six seven months we We really don’t know um and I think that’s why they decided to you know put all their eggs in a basket for Caris Levert for a two-year deal which I honestly think for Caris Levert if it works out and he stays healthy that’s great um but if it doesn’t it I think it’s a movable contract that the Pistons could try to trade at the deadline like Harris Levert was involved in a trade for DeAndre Hunter when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers which DeAndre Hunter’s a good player um I don’t really know what his market is i don’t know if there’s any you know other teams in the NBA that were really pursuing Harris Levert at that price point that the Pistons offered him but I I I just honestly think the Malik Beasley stuff just happened at just a really bad time like right before free agency i don’t really know if the Pistons knew about these allegations right away i don’t know how ready Chaz Laneir is to honestly play and just you know be a rotational player right off the bat i’m going to have to wait to see how he looks in summer league and maybe there’s more moves to be made uh throughout this free agency period or trades to be made by Trajan Leng in the front office and the Detroit Pistons but honestly just I think it’s it’s wild man it’s wild like the Caris Levert move maybe uh he can prove me wrong maybe he can be healthy maybe he can be you know that spark plug off the bench for the Detroit Pistons maybe they can add more three-point shooting in free agency i don’t know maybe you can get Tim on a cheap deal i think there’s a lot of questions that I have in free agency i think a lot of you guys have you know questions and concerns as well but um you know that’s that’s day one so far we’ll we’ll we’ll keep you guys updated you know throughout the free agency period and do short little podcasts like this but uh yeah they went to free agency for the Pistons they resigned uh Bball Paul they re they uh went out and got Caris Levert and they missed out on Santi Aldama they missed out on the kill Alexander Walker i just saw a report that Gary Trent Jr has signed a two-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks as I’m heading this podcast that was a you know a sharp shooter that I thought the Pistons could go after if they needed more three-point shooting but yeah we’re going to have to wait and see how this free agency period this really uh shapes out uh for the Eastern Conference and the Detroit Pistons but I will talk to you guys pretty soon hope you guys have a great night take care and as always go Pistons peace

Atlanta brought in all of these free agents they had levert last year but chose not to sign him red flag. Trajan Langdon is turning into a bumb I'm really he hasn't done anything since he's been here you got a young team ready to take the next. step and you're sitting on your hands
I think Paul Reed was higher price for a few reasons. It fit in the Room Exception. Only the 1st year is guaranteed, so very flexible and covers them with a 3rd big this year. If they do extend or sign Duren off of RFA, gives them 5.5M coming off book to put toward his new contract. It also gives them another 5.5M to aggregate into a possible trade at the deadline.
We need a reliable shooter, we have to pay for Duncan Robinson and risk it
If we end up with one of duncan or Monk/Keon Ellis, I think people will change their tunes. Malik kind of fucked us here, Can't really come at Trajan IMO. We have more time for this to play out. Also, Caris is more of a "Bucket getter" than malik. Not useless by any means.
How can the pistons get "a malik monk" when theres only one of him dude? Please stop saying "a" before players names man they arent pokemon
Horrible FA day
1st day I would consider less than encouraging. May have taken a step backwards in not actually replacing/upgrading Beasley
Now we just need to have Beasley sign a small contract that is easily waivable.
I hate the caris signing especially for 2 yrs..if NAW didnt come to detroit then trades are the only way…even if we get monk…still do not like where pistons are at.
Ill take al Hartford over paul reed a vet with championship experience more length more spacing and dalano banton instead of LeVert younger more versatile more healthy better shooter and more clutch give pistons a D this Free agency terrible
LeVert familiarity with jb and being a Michigan why we got him i guess
Horrible Paul Reed is garbage 💩💩💩. They better get legit 5 that can rebound. Defend. Shoot.
They will have to make a big trade to get better. That was always going to be the case. Still wonder if Markinen is available.
Obvious, this dude reads no comments. UFA Trey Lyles. Kings would pivot to Westbrook.
As long as you have Cade, Ivey, Stewart, Duren, Thompson, Hollins, Sasser and future First round Picks, that's the Pistons bread and butter! Free agency has never been great to the Pistons. The Beasley situation is very unfortunate for everybody involved!! I would make a deal with Beasley under the table. I would still offer the same deal next summer if your name is cleared in the Gambling drama. For now, I would offer a 1 year deal, none guaranteed!! That's about the best I could do.
paul reed signing is puzzling, it a lot of other bigs out they could of went after. With D. Ayton being a free agent and waived the pistons could of offer hims something and he would of been a solid rim protector and defender.
Levert will become underrated signing at the end of this season like Tobias was last year.
We aren’t done. I hope we get monk on the schroder trade.
Lastly, Terry Rozier never was suspended while he was under investigation and played last season. Beasly is going to play this season. He only wants to be a Piston. If his name isn’t cleared for 5 months I don’t see why he wouldn’t sign another cheap 1yr deal with the promise that once his name is cleared we sign him to a multi year deal?
Does that make sense? Is anyone else thinking this could be a possibility and what most likely will happen?
He isn’t gonna be suspended anytime soon imo, and he’s going to play somewhere this season, I still think it’s the Pistons.
This is starting to look like the
Grant Hill era. A great player in Cade with no good players around him leads to mediocre. We are going to let players go instead of paying them.
I would be interested in something along the lines of Shroeder, Fontecchio, 2 2nds for Monk
Levert will become underrated signing at the end of this season just like Harris was at the end of last season.
I really hope we get Monk in the Schroder Trade as well.
We not done yet, upgrade for THJ for sure but we still got work to do
I love Clarios Levert, he's Michigan, so I know he's going to play defense.
And I spelled his name wrong
Dam Dennis Left. Seems like nobody wants to play for us because they feel like they on a win now mind set
Probably Fontecchio and sasser , hopefully they grab Tre Mann and emoni bates too
