Film Breakdown: Minkah Fitzpatrick is a GREAT Fit for the Miami Dolphins Scheme
we’re back people and today we’re breaking down film on the Miami Dolphins newest safety Minka Fitzpatrick he has returned Dolphins as you guys have probably seen traded Jaylen Ramsay Johnny Smith picks involved to get Minka Fitzpatrick back in Miami uh Mafitzer is actually one of my favorite draft picks that Dolphins ever made he was like one of the guys I actually really wanted at the time so I’m actually happy quite happy that he’s back obviously a huge upgrade he instantly becomes your best defensive back on the roster still 28 year old 28 years old you did save cash and cap during this trade uh I went over it in my live stream you guys want to see my full thoughts on the trade itself but just going over his MA as a player i still think he’s quite good does a lot of things really well there’s some struggles at time I think with you know playing a little bit rogue some mixed communications I saw in the secondary from you know the Steelers here with him but like he is a Swiss Army knife you can use him in so many different ways uh I think Anthony Weaver is going to really really enjoy his skill set he’s a great fit a lot of things that he can do he can come down fill verse the run very very effectively in coverage you can use him in so many different ways he’s a really good he’s really good at like disguising coverages pre-to postnap and we know if you know you’ve been following that how important that is in this system for Miami wouldn’t be surprised to see more three tight end sets for for the Dolphins in this upcoming season not three three safety sets this upcoming season for Miami and you know with their with their corner issues uh so hopefully Mink is willing to do that i know there was problems when Fitzpatrick in the past wanted wanted to trade but I think that was all like a Brian Flores thing so hopefully he’s happy to be back i think you know uh there was definitely some some lost time here missed opportunity was always a really good player played a lot of free safety for for Pittsburgh but he’s a guy that really can play anywhere like he can play as that nickel star role he can come down in in the box play versus the run if needed there’s a lot to like with his skill set you know we’ll go over some bad plays i think you know at times where he gets a little over aggressive he maybe can miss some tackles but there is still a lot to like with Minka’s game lots of good play so great job closing down Hill like I’m talking look at him play versus crossers helping guys out cuz Steelers you know running right here they’re playing you know uh one robber so I love Mink a robber he can just like roam the middle of the field like this but close downhill look at him see this mesh concept and mesh is a man beater he knows this this corner is going to get beat xavier Worthy underneath really fast receiver great angles closes super fast doesn’t give Worthy a chance and he shuts that down gets it to fourth down only ends up being like a one-yd gain on the play super impressive fast i like him playing downhill like all these plays him playing downhill where he gets to basically play as a buzz defender here he buzzes down steelers are in cover three he gets to buzz and be like a middle hook and look at him just play these these areas he’s he knows look at him he commits downhill pretty quickly he takes away this middle zone pretty quickly he identifies Herbert’s going to check it down he he gets aggressive goes downhill kind of works through this trash of who’s it’s going to go to the tight end or running back takes a great angle readjusts and then makes that tackle downhill and if you look where he’s aligned like they’re selling like this could be a too high look but no he buzzes to the middle of the field takes away that initial throw and he’s just playing at an extremely quick level cuz he’s a good athlete but also just very very smart uh you know sell single high look even just this little stuff that you know sometimes you don’t recognize you see open up your hips to the middle of the field the QB is going to see that and kind of think this could be single high they rotate into two high cover two daniel Jones thinks he might have this area open but Minka can close close the ground really really quickly shows off that range to get to the sideline knocks the ball out at the catch point very very good work there from Minka uh love this type of play look at him defeat the block of Isaiah Lley who’s a good blocking like tight end mover out in space like that he does a really good job like adjusting this so he’s following likely in motion he’s manto man he peaks back sees what’s going on then you have like right here this could be a huge game look how this is blocked up this DB has the back no one else is even close in flow here minka is the only one with a chance and he’s able to quickly shed likely and make that tackle on Lamar that could have been an easy 10 yard game minka right here off the edge avoid the block of the tight end take Saquon off of his feet he’s definitely got that ability in his bag to play play the run uh pretty effectively here downhill he can do it at the line of scrimmage but he also can do it from depth furious from depth stopping this Bejian Robinson run to a zero yard gain when he’s aligned about 12 yards off the ball uh get downhill avoid the block of the tight end meet Robinson at the line of scrimmage here’s the the stuff I love cuz they’re showing like look at this shell right here this looks like it’ be quarters maybe cover two with how they’re aligned but a two high safety shell they end up rotating this into being like a cover three with these safeties playing as like the hooks and they buzz down look how quick Minka compared to the other safety he just flies downhill he is ready to take away that the whole time if this ball’s thrown like accurately that receiver is going to get absolutely decapitated but Mink is there to take that away i just love his downhill quick play style get involved uh you know can lead to negative plays at time but I would rather you know have a guy be aggressive and make a lot of positive plays especially from a safety and I think he’s a nice blend in the room he’s definitely your best safety and he also like if Melopon was your other starter or you know if you’re doing three safety sets you know he’s one of the three uh him and Fitzpatrick I think have very good complimentary skill set so that’s nice to see here’s MA you know in man just nice reps to see here versus likely isolated on the boundary just a lot of nice stuff uh and there’s definitely manto man tape to work with here down in the red zone just looking for work uh you know Burrow starts off to the side here he kind of you know peaks over to here sees he’s not getting threatened initially chase breaks to the outside peek back with follow Burrow’s eyes find T higgins take that away see that Burrow’s under pressure now higgins is now your guy basically like your manto man scramble drill stick with it give him no chance and then Burrow gets sacked uh just good work closing downhill gets a nice play on Gaseki there it’s a lot of work love this pre- snap disguis this guys pre snap look where he is they are clearly Steelers are showing this is going to be a postfield safety look potential cover one cover three uh but Mink is able to bail out last second spin out and they end up playing cover two get over the top leverage this break on the corner just allowing to confuse QBs it’s a big part of what Weaver likes to do minka I think is very comfortable doing that uh so great fit from that perspective another example of this sort of playing out where he rotates kind of late to single high or not to too high help take away multiple routes leverage multiple routes and then once you see the scramble drill stick with Devonte Smith don’t allow them to you know find anything late and and offscript stuff here you see where he kind of loses gets just uh Andrews playing from off man you see Andrews kind of sets him up he just opens up the gate too early and kind of gives up leverage in this situation this is something I think could happen to him uh NFL Pro had Minka listed giving up three touchdowns last year but I think honestly only one of them was really his fault the other two were kind of on his teammates and they just listed him as the closest guy but um you’ll see that the one that was his fault at the end of the video as you can see like showing too high he just sits on it plays as that that hook defender plays as a buzz uh doesn’t need to fly downhill he understands the situation he’s reading this leveraging two route concepts right here at the same time stay in the throwing lane ball ends up getting thrown too high it gets picked by the the corner he takes away the the underneath part of it just really really good work manto man on another tight end jake Ferg boom here goes slam on him he can cover that up down in the box phil versus the run just a versatile skill set this is the play like where I’m saying like sometimes they miscommunicate i think he gets stuck on it he doesn’t like I think you know him and this guy have a miscommunication on who should take Worthy who’s the running back out of the backfield he sees it too late he sees the ball thrown out he’s trying to stay on this guy uh sometimes I think he can be a little bit too patient when he’s trying to leverage multiple route concepts gets out and then worthy gets a touchdown this is one he was attributed like attributed to giving up the touchdown i think this was the one that actually was there was one for sure that wasn’t his fault and then there was another one that was questionable uh but I think it was just uh more of the corner’s fault than his on the play so yeah overall I like the trade for Miami i like Ma Fitzpatrick a lot as a player he’s younger he’s 28 you got at least two years on the contract for him jaylen Ramsey was leaving no matter what you know I I’ve talked about my thoughts on Janu going you know it kind of sucks but it also makes sense uh I’ve talked about that in depth on the stream if you want to hear those thoughts uh but yeah really like Megan Fitzpatrick’s player hopefully you know he wants to be here uh he also got a 2027 fifth uh which I thought was interesting that both of the picks that were kind of involved were 2027s kind of you know I feel like that could potentially tell a story that maybe people aren’t worried too much um but you do get Minka back so uh if you guys do comment and subscribe happy

Copyright was a pain with this one so had to cut some stuff. Leave a like on the video and comment your thoughts
It was tough losing him. Glad he's back.
I'm sure Weaver will know how to use him and relate to him. Coach Flo knew what he was doing on defense, but he didn't know how to relate to players. He has learned from those mistakes.
Damn it
I love the moves , hurts to lose Jonnu too but we got good value from both trades . Just hope we can bring in one of those vet CBs to add one more solid starter to the room whether that be fuller , Samuel or Douglas .
We have bout $30M in cap now right? Seiler contract and some OL depth hopefully.. Love the trade as long as we dont have a repeat of last time he was here. Believe he has been misused in Pitt the last x2 seasons so its hopeful he will like playing for Weaver. $12M a year for a TE that cant block, no way, thank you Pittsburgh 🙏
3 te set i wish 😂
Excellent work GM!
No way. No way. Seriously? He's back? No joke?
It's the Smith trade that doesn't make sense.
Stephon Gilmore or Asante Jr incoming. FinsUp
he better not fall off or get injured the second he gets here i swear to god
We are, as you say, back people. 😂
Welcome back!
Now trade the other drama queen reek.
Another bad choice for the Dolphins. The guy didn't want to be on the team before… Next season he wont want to there again. He we a problem and a whiney little girl. Too bad they took him back.
You're getting much better with the footage portion. Keep up the great work bro
Any indication what Minkah actually thinks of this trade? Considering he originally requested to be traded out of Miami, I'm thinking that might be significant. However the likelihood of playing him as the high safety — his preferred position — to act as a safety blanket for our young corners seems p good.
I'm glad we got minkah but I hope we are okay at CB and TE
At least we got rid of Ramsey too expensive and we got a 5th round draft pick and trading Jonnu Smith for minkah is okay so the deal was ok for both teams we really couldn't afford Ramsey
My thoughts….i hope he isn’t going to be a cancer just like he was in the past
Do your videos get claimed? Wanted to do something similar, but I'm concerned about copyright claims.
I thought I was reading some sort of joke headline about getting him back lol. That's crazy. I still hate the way he left, but he's a good player and at the end of the day that's the most important thing for the team. I really hope we let him hover near the LOS a lot this year. He seems to be at his best when playing instinctive and following the ball
