  1. Lmao this is ridiculous. « Ok let’s wait at least a few minutes to make it sound like we just drafted this 75 pages contract just now, you guys cool with that? »

  2. I like Martin Biron’s admission on TSN they had worked out his deal in 2010 the night before 😛 And everyone in the studio going ‘Ooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!’

  3. They should just do what the NFL does and allow a tampering period prior to free agency start.

  4. There’s a few PR jobs on the line today then, huh? Any slip-up will be costly.

  5. Wasn’t Vegas the team that was warned? The team that got the top FA in Marner already. I’d likely get a good reaction if I just trash Vegas but I honestly don’t care, fucking Bettman give me some Canada Day free agent signings

  6. If they really want to stop the tampering then just make it so all offers between clubs and agents have to be done publicly and registered through the NHL. Contracts are published anyway, so we know the contract when it’s signed, and failed offers usually get leaked after being made. So it’s not like we don’t find out even anyway.

  7. Yeah, because if you wait until FA opens to begin talks you are already behind. So we will keep talking before FA opens but we will wait a while before we announce signings because we don’t want to “implicated” as having tampered.

How about the NHL figure out how to consistently determine what is and isn’t goal tender interference that would be a better use of their time. Or how about they finish the fine details of the upcoming CBA agreement so we don’t have another lock out.

Vegas has been talking with Marner all year. What are the “sportsbook” odds they actually get penalized for tampering? Especially now that Marner has signed prior to being traded to Vegas?

    What a joke!

  8. Gabrikov was always linked to New York as soon as free agency opens he signs in New York. I call tampering.

  9. Why not just bring back that one week negotiation period (where you can negotiate but not sign)?

It actually removes some of the incentive to tampering.
