It’s not an overpay. The cap is $95.5 million. This contract puts him at like 2.9% of the cap. For a defenseman they’ll be able to slot in pretty regularly, that to me actually seems like a decent deal. But I get it, it’s cool to say everything is an overpay
He’s a young RHD, he was always going to get more than his actual value. I don’t blame Nashville for signing him, especially if they’re looking to make their roster younger. I hope that he can thrive in a different system.
