BREAKING: Corey Perry signs with LA Kings

Cory Perry is no longer a member of the Edmonton Oilers as he is signed in a one-year deal with the LA Kings as reported by Pier Lebron. It’s looking like the deal could reach up to 3.5 million with bonuses and his salary combined. The Oilers couldn’t really invest that much money into a 40year-old player. Obviously good period here for Cory Perry. 119 regular season games and two runs to the Stanley Cup finals with the Edmonton Oilers. 27 goals during those 119 games, 19 of them coming this season, which made you believe that, hey, maybe the 40-year-old Cory Perry still has a little bit in him, which he quite frankly probably will as he goes down to Los Angeles and reunites with Ken Holland, who of course brought him to the Edmonton Oilers from the Chicago Blackhawks midway through last season. And and great in the Stanley Cup final and throughout the playoffs as well for Cory Perry. 10 goals in total. He’ll be missed on this Oilers team. Obviously, we talked about it earlier. They’ve already moved on from Victor Ardson as well. So, the Oilers now have $4.55 million in cap space. It looks like they’ve missed out on Brock Besser, who has resigned with Vancouver, but they were heavily linked to him. Obviously, I think the money got a bit too high for the Oilers to go out and get him there, too. There’s still a few other names. Andrew Manopani, someone thrown out there, too. Like I said in the earlier video, if the Others move Max Jones into Bakersfield, that will free up $1 million for them as well. So they can get up to 5.5 and you can go over the cap a little bit too uh before training camp and get everything figured out there. So still lots to come here for the Edmonton Oilers. I believe it also sounds like Connor Brown might be signed in with the New Jersey Devils. So once that gets locked in, we’ll discuss that too. But Tyler and I will be live at 100 p.m. Mountain time for Oilers Nation every day. 1. As an Oilers fan I'm wondering what big move is planning to be made. There are 4 players eating into a lot of cap space with Bouchard and Nurse being problematic contracts. I hate saying players shouldn't get a certain amount considering baseball and soccer players can make half an NHL teams salary, but it is what it is and there are some contracts that aren't team friendly. I think the Oilers have begun to make themselves harder to compete unless some serious magic is being worked.

  2. I guess Perry learned his lesson and won't be Cup chasing anymore. Why didn't he sign with Anaheim and end his career where he started? The Ducks won't be contending for the playoffs.

  3. I think a lot of fans need to take a deeper look at players that are already a part of the organisation, as in the pool of young prospects and experienced professional players they have signed playing oversees. Given what they already have available, the Oilers don't need to do a lot acquisition wise to check off the boxes of improving, and getting faster and younger. They have a glut of potential talent waiting in the wings at just about every position, including Matthew Savoie, David Tomášek, Atro Leppänen, Samuel Jonsson, Sam O’Reilly, Maxim Beryozkin, Roby Järventie, Quinn Hutson, Josh Samanski, Phil Kemp, just to name a few. The team is in so much better shape than a lot of people seem to realise. I have no doubt that a few of these guys will be a major part of the team in 25/26, and they are going to shock the hell out of a lot of people. Sure, adding an elite offensive forward (and a couple other pieces would be great), but the Oilers are going to have a new look and are going to be a much improved team over this past season, mark my words.

  4. You guys wanna sign McDavid and you’re doing absolutely nothing but losing players. That’s a 19 goal score just walked out the door for nothing.

  5. Seeing a lot going out but not much coming back. I said days ago a true starter goalie or I take the year off. There's still time but so far it's the usual case of seeing everyone else restock while for us tradez r hard.

  6. We kings are getting every oiler player first Warren and next Corey WE ARE GETTING MCDAVID NEXT YEAR COME HERE MCDAVID

  7. Got Guys who want to win the Cup for minimum Like Perry while we have guys who want a bigger paycheck and destroying team balance Like Bouch

  8. Also hey guys who thought Eklab would go to EDM….scope these thumbnail titles…."
Aaron Ekblad: Signs Eight-year Contract with Florida Panthers, Says He Never Wanted to Leave" hahahah He literally says FLA is his home and his families home.

  9. Maybe this is the thing that breaks the curse? Kings grabbed Penner from the Ducks in 2012 and won their first cup. Perry won a cup playing for a California team. Who knows? We’ll find out come next spring.
