Charlotte Hornets Re-Sign Tre Mann

And just like that, Trey man is back. Come on, let’s go. I’m excited for this one. I’m This is really good news. Very, very, very good news for Charlotte. All right, here’s a Sham’s tweet just a little bit ago as as I’m recording this. Free agent guard Trey man has agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. This was a This was a bit uh shaky given the fact that the qualifying offer wasn’t I don’t know if it wasn’t extended or wasn’t accepted. Either way, Trey man hit unrestricted free agency. Always a possibility of coming back uh to Charlotte. The Colin Ston trade kind of seemed like insurance just in case this deal couldn’t happen or wouldn’t happen, but it did happen. So Trey man hasn’t been around for a very long time, but I think he’s made like a a real impact and put a lot of confidence in me in what he can be as a pro and his value to this franchise. So bringing him back is huge. And it’s only been 41 games from the trade deadline two seasons ago and then 13 games this year, this past season. the short amount of time we’ve seen of of Trey, man. And we’re gonna see we’re gonna see more of it and I think it’s awesome, man. Like, I don’t have enough good things to say about Trey. Um, from everything they’ve put out, their camp has put out, he seems to be fully healthy and ready to go. Um, which is sorely needed. And I know with the Colin Ston acquisition, you know, when you look at some of the people they they’ve brought in recently, a lot of guards and perimeter players from Conetan to uh Caniple to Liam McNeely to even Seion James to a certain degree, right? Nick Smith Jr. is still around for now. It’s not looking good for Nick Smid Jr. right now, by the way. By the way, uh we’ll see how that goes. But the the the perimeter, the guards, like it’s getting real crowded, like really real crowded. Um, and honestly, that’s a good it’s a good place to to be, man. Having depth is is important, especially what we know, knowing what we know about this this franchise’s injury issues. Trey man looks like he’s on the other side of it. And a fully healthy Trey man is a like legitimate sixman of the year contender. If the injury didn’t happen, I think Trey would have been the third leading scorer on the entire team last season behind LaMelo and Brandon Miller. Like, I think Trey off the bench is an electric bucket. An electric bucket, man. And now you’re looking at having potentially Trey man and Colin Ston in that second unit. I don’t know if Sexton’s going to start or not. We know Trey’s not going to start, but having a backcourt duo of Trey Man and Khan Saxon, like that sounds like a lot of fun. And I can’t think of another time where that second unit had that much life into it and with those two guys alone. And that’s without even mentioning whatever Canipple is going to bring, whatever uh Nick Smith Jr. is going to show us next, right? uh whatever KJ Simpson assuming he comes back like there there’s an element where things can can escalate higher and higher if everything is clicking and everyone is healthy and everyone’s available and so Trey man is like real NBA firepower like a legitimate NBA player with a lot of upside still he’s 23 he was a he was part of that 21 draft class and I think you know with his future solidified on a really nice deal for Charlotte. It’s a well, I don’t say it’s a win-win because I’m sure Trey would like to make more money, but he does have that security, assuming it’s all guaranteed, right, over the course of those three years, three seasons. He has long-term security, right? The Hornets retain a really dope player, and the squad overall is looking in a in a looking to be in a much healthier like place. And it’s been a long time coming. A long time coming cuz like I’m earlier today I was just thinking about the depth chart or like where the there’s different options and there’s so many perimeter players. And so there’s another element of this where you bring back Trey and I I I’m happy he’s here. I want him to stay. But there I can’t help but think like with all the crowdedness we have going on here, you bring back Trey, retain the asset, you could flip him later for something else if you want to go down that route. Like there’s a lot of ways to go about this. And in the short term, I’m this is a this is great. This is my this is up there with among my favorite things from this off season so far. And we’re only what a week or two into this whole thing. Like I’m I’m gassed by this. I love this. Like genuinely, this is on par with them trading away Meech. Like my dislike for Meech is equal to my love for Trey, man. I’m here for this. Shout out to Jeff Peterson who’s continuing to cook. This front office is cooking and I’m here for it, man. I’m so so here for it. And you know, not to be discounted, but this is really solid LaMelo ball coverage. They still don’t have a true point guard behind LaMelo. like it’s KJ Simpson. So, it leaves a little bit to be desired with with respect to KJ having two really competent and like awesome combo guards to turn to in the event LaMelo goes down with an injury. This is the most prepared the Charlotte Hornets have ever been to account for LaMelo missing time is like right now. And obviously no one wants to see LaMelo get hurt, but that that’s part of the package now. And LaMelo’s not going anywhere. So you have to have a real plan B. And now they have a real plan plan B and a real plan C with Sexton and man in the mix. Like I love this. I love this so much. I love this for so many reasons. So many reasons. So shout out to Trey Man. Shout out to Jeff Peterson for getting it done. And my excitement for this season uh is I don’t overstate it, but like it’s like a eight out of 10 right now. I’m I’m so excited to see this team roll out and to see what they got. I’m I’m I’m gassed. I’m gassed. I hope you are too. I hope you hope you’re happy that Trey man is returning like I am. Let me know in the comments below. Make sure you like the video. Make sure you subscribe. I’ll be making Hornets reaction videos as news comes out this off season. There hasn’t been anything super massive like earthshattering yet. Will it happen? Probably not. Jeff Peterson is they’re not out here trying to splash a bunch of money out. Um but these moves like this, they go a long way. They go a long way. And it it also not it’s also sets a precedent. This franchise doesn’t have a strong history of retaining unrestricted free agents. Like guys that have an opportunity to walk with real value tend to walk and seek new opportunities. Now, I know Trey’s coming off an injury, but this is a real like tick towards the positive of this franchise being taken more seriously. And I’m here for it. I’m so here for it. It’s It’s long overdue. And I’m so here for it. I hope you are, too. But until next time, I’ve been Sam. You’ve been great. Peace.

  1. Sam, I am cautiously "HYPED" GM Peterson is cooking with Crisco. Now if Hornets would pickup as Center Bryant from the Pacers 🤞🏾🤩👌🏾!!!!!!

  2. Either Sion James takes a 2 way or NSJ gets waived or traded. Likewise, Jeffries, Curry, Gibson and Okogi gone regardless. Believe the team can take up to 20 players into training camp including 2 ways but before regular season must get to 15 + 3 (2 way). How do you feel about Plumlee now? Connaughton will be the vet for Kneuppel & McNeely.

  3. I actually felt and documented yesterday, that they turned him down because they knew he was worth more. My number was $8mil for two years ($16 mil) … so for them to bring him back for threes at $24 mil … makes me very, very happy !! He's a good player and I know he will feel now, respected, play even better!!
