MLB LIVE🔴 Minnesota Twins vs Miami Marlins – Jul 1, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
from inside Lone Depot Park in Miami Florida Inner League Baseball on MLB The Show it’s the Minnesota Twins taking on the Miami Marlins first pitch coming your way next
miami [Music] so almost ready to get underway and getting the start for Miami sandy Alcantara and Singi we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots yeah he’s definitely had a struggle so far this year as evidenced by that inflated whip but he’s going to have to find a way to limit the base runners put his team in a position to win a ball game so we know he’s prepared we know this guy is a competitor and we’ll watch how he works in this one
swing and a pop off in foul ground norby makes the grab one away now the lineup for the Twins as constructed by Roco Baldelli not the highest team batting average for this squad they’re down towards the bottom of the league in total hits and Singi because of that they don’t score a ton yeah and Boo I’m looking for a little better performance out of them today i mean if they’re going to be dangerous if they’re going to be able to create scoring opportunities they’re going to have to start making some individual adjustments a lot of players in this lineup probably aren’t happy with how they’ve hit the ball so far so today’s a chance to get something going swing and a miss as he was out front that time on the ground to first he’ll do it himself two up two down
hey man four pitches two outs that is an excellent pace willy two down base is empty now the batter now Willie Castro come on Sandy right through there for a strike that one’s upstairs ball one
two out space is empty and that one is in the dirt two balls in a strike swang and a ball popped up norby gets under it makes the play and it’s out number three nothing doing here for the Twins now the Marlins will see what they can do no score you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back here in Miami and on the hill for the Twins Joey Wentz what do we have on him
well you know this guy wants to be better than that i mean the ERA is bloated he understands that he’s got to put his team in a better position to win ball games and at this point you have to forget about your own individual stats and you have to go out there and attack and try to get that W and if you do that you’ll look up and most likely that RA will have dropped over time swing and a highf fly ball left field lner makes the grab one pitch and one out and time now for the Marlins lineup they do a lot of things well in this offense Singi they control the strike zone they make pitchers work hard for outs and as a result one of the better OBP teams in the league
well what I love about it is it’s an organizational philosophy whether you go to instructional league whether you go to spring training you see these guys even during batting practice when it doesn’t matter they’re practicing that type of approach boo and when you have that filtering through the organization even when you call off a player he steps right in and continues with the pattern that they have established at this level which ultimately leads to a lot of success next pitch is outside you know you translate on base percentage it’s basically this teams that have a high on base percentage they don’t make outs at a very high rate as my buddy Joe Sheen says OBP is life one out base is empty this is a hitter who takes his game to another level playing at night that one missed recognize that change up right out of the hand just spit on it fouls it back with two strikes [Music] the 3-2 is outside and it’s ball four
a great back and forth in that at bat he had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow Boogie found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there i’ll tell you right now I couldn’t have done it
and here is Otto Lopez come on foul ball there man at first one away that’s a ball
squirts away a little bit two balls one straight the pitch swing and a ball lifted in the air and that’s a fair ball they get it in quickly so first and second down now one out that is good now it’s the rookie DH Augustine Ramirez fast ball for a strike it’s 0 and one runners at first and second with one gone and fouled off that’s off the mark and a count one and two
way to lay off that pitch down swing and a fly ball in the air out towards right center field brings it in that’s out number two [Music] kyle Stard the next to hit
i know we’re still early in the stages of this game but this at bat has the potential of being a difference maker you’ve got to stay calm in the box and the first pitch misses for ball one swing and a miss nice change up by really sells the change up with that arm action on the ground right side onto France out number three marlin strand a pair scoreless after one top of the second here’s the veteran shortstop carlos
Koreah alcantara back to work check swing called strike and that is strike one kareah the former first overall pick from Puerto Rico back in 2012 but he blossomed into the American League Rookie of the Year in 2015 got him swaging he chased the change up and one out now take a look at the three pitch sequence here pretty simple in terms of putting them away at the plate once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle and right there clearly he was in swing mower but all you can do is hope to foul that off and now Ty France that one close rule to ball ball one alcantara in his seventh season he features a sinker a change up a fourseamer a slider and he occasionally uses a curve tapped up the first base side and he takes it himself for the out good armside run to that same side hitter right there very difficult to put that ball in the air or get through it just bores in on the hands
two outs base is empty and next for Minnesota brooks lead fell off to a great start he’s really cruising out there on the mound he’s got a chance to get through these first two innings with under 20 pitches that could set him up to go deep into this game inside just missed [Music] shoots a line drives single into right center so a two out knock keeps the inning alive ryan Jeffers at the plate and the pitch a little bit low ball one one ball no strike and a swing and a miss
one ball one strike no that’s a ball
two gone but the go-ahead run is at first here in the top of the second and that drops in for a strike fast ball right back to the mound over to first and that is the inning one left for Minnesota we’ll go to the bottom of the second no score back here in Lone Depot Park bottom of the second at the plate eric Wagaman eric and that one wrapped foul swinging and a miss and it’s 0 and two matthew Ross umpiring behind home plate for us in this one he’s got a reputation for having a bit of a wide strike zone Chris
yeah no doubt Boo he rewards pitchers when they’re working the edges and sometimes a little bit beyond that so for the hitters just have to really be aware don’t miss your pitch when you get it early in the count and a foul ball he stays alive how much were you aware of the umpire scouting report or even who was going to be umpiring
not a whole lot i mean there were a couple of umpires that
Oh now this one’s blasted deep to left way back there on its way and out of here and the Marlins jump out in front it’s one nothing that’s a fun way to take the lead just hit one out of the park that’s exactly the pitch he was looking for crushes it and hits it out of the ballpark [Applause] now the catcher up to hit liam Hicks in there for strike one
just got to delete it you give up that layoff home run go back to work focus on this next batter missed with a change up and the count is one and one the 1-1 is fouled off here’s a one-two tap softly to the right side france and that’s the first out nice recovery after giving up the homer conor Nory and up next for Miami Connor Nory it’s interesting he plays kind of a a power spot defensively but runs pretty well so when you’re looking at that position you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed but he does and I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed it makes the whole team that much better
top of the zone and it’s called a strike what about him playing another position on defense one that would require a little more range
absolutely and I think if push came to shove where they had to make a a move during a game it’d surprise a lot of people you might even be able to put him in center field one down base is empty line drive caught
well baseball can be cruel can it i mean sometimes it gives and sometimes it takes away he did everything right on that swing but he’s got nothing to show for it
and now for the Marlins Dane Meyers he’s already set a new career best for stolen bases in a season Chris that misses the zone ball one two down base is empty but one run across bottom half of inning number two that one hammered but pulled fouled fouls it off still one and two swing and a chopper out to short zips it to first that ends the inning one for the Marlins on the solo shot it’s now one- nothing you’re dialed into the show and we’re back and now the right fielder Matt Walmer i just love watching Alcantra get ready for games boog he turns into a different person just usually cracking jokes and having a good time but start days are a different story that’s when things get serious for this guy next offering misses down and away and that clips the inside corner swing and a miss had him out front for the strike out
he’s really good hitting the baseball the other way so credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch and clearly he had him fooled and now Bader up to the plate not even close there and that is ball one and that one missing low next offering way off the plate
well I would expect in this three 0 count you’re taking all the way see if he’ll walk you and that’s ball four
tried another slider but it missed the plate four pitches that’s an easy walk man he could have walked me right there boo last one wasn’t even close
here’s Byron Buckton when you examine Buckton’s career trajectory the thing that really jumps out the speed and the defense early on first pitch doesn’t find the zone
bader leads off first with one away line drive and that should be extra bases lead runner makes the turn at second coming home he scores to tie it up the throw to third and he’s out trying for three absolutely perfect execution of the relay right there to cut him down to third and he probably should have shut it down at second base and been happy with the double but it took a great play to get him you just have to tip the cap here’s Trevor Lick grounded out his first time that’s too low one and0 tied up here in the early going to the right side edwards handles throws to first third out that ends the frame one run one hit no errors and nobody left on we head now to the home half of inning number three all tied 1-1 and welcome back to the ballpark as we go to the last of the third now it’s the Marlins leadoff hitter Xavier Edwards first pitch just misses and there’s a ball that’s a good pitch there
billy had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it hit a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout fast ball for a strike swang of a line drive that’s a base hit into center field so runner aboard to start the inning hitting is really easy for some guys one thing that I could see already his bat stays in the zone on plane for an extended period of time and guys like that they have a high contact rate and they have more barrels because of that bat being on plane and even when you don’t get it great it’s still hit hard enough to dunk something in like that in front of the center fielder w checks over to first and he’s back now here is Jesus Sanchez highf fly ball out to left field drops into the glove and there’s one down the batter number six next to hit Otto Lopez one for one with a single so far definitely wants to stay out of the double play here ball on the ground in the infield should be an inning ending double play fast ball is outside next offering is fouled back and a big swing and a miss
well a hitter shows the pitcher that he’s willing to go after that pitch down in the zone so perhaps he’ll come back to it still try to get that ground ball double play foul ball still a one and two count runn good job to fight that one off swings and misses two gone next is the designated hitter Augustine Ramirez flyed to right his first time that one the other way and foul ball yes
here’s the pitch run around the go there’s the ball safe at second and he easily steals the bag when your catcher is not a great throw you have to do a better job at controlling the running game and that’s throwing over that’s stepping off doing whatever you can to try to keep that base Steelers rhythm off well they weren’t able to do it right there they’re going to have to make some type of adjustment our players are going to be running all game and that one is inside [Applause] that one misses three and one get ready for some action here good RBI guy at the plate runners in scoring position and a hitters count
runner at second two down here in the last half of the third fouls one away and now three and two instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended tied him up a little bit slightly up slightly in swinging a foul ball at the plate they’ll do it again runner at second two down and ball four two aboard so close to getting out of it right there but this inning still has life kyle Stard the next up for the Marlins strike one
well a come and get me fast right there he didn’t look ready for the velocity i think it’d be a mistake to throw him anything off speed right here and now the count is even
one
edwards the lead runner out at second ramirez on first with two down swing and a miss there’s the change up he’s gone off speed he needs to elevate here with two strikes out of the zone swaying a ball hit out towards left center field makes the grab and that will end the inning we played three full innings and we’re tied at one [Music] back here in Miami as we go to the top of the fourth and now it’s the switchhitting second baseman Willie Castro to third fair ball wastes no time there just found a way to slap that ball down the third baseline that’s really excellent back control and it kind of goes back to all those drills you see hitters do off the tee where it’s placed in different spots that was just nice go ahead run on base here’s Carlos Koreah he was a strikeout victim his first time upstairs line and that’s a base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out
two consecutive base hits for these guys here other than ripping one into the gap or blasting one over the wall there aren’t a whole lot of hits that are more satisfying than a nice line drive into center field so that definitely felt good first and second no outs france getting ready to hit he’s 0 for one line and a base hit into right they won’t test it here bases loaded no outs oh just a nice job coming through in a pretty high leverage spot right there showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn’t get jumpy didn’t try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit now it’s going to be Brooks Lee in the dirt kicks away from the catcher but all the runners hold here’s a rocket to right field brings it in runners tag up from second and third he’ll score on the sack fly and a 2-1 ball game now
that wasn’t your standard sack fly he barreled that baseball just couldn’t get it to drop in
and here’s the catcher Ryan Jeffers grounded out his first time swinging a popup that’s a base hit as a run scores throw comes into third and they’re at the corners with only one out
oh no waiting around right there he was ready to swing it on the first pitch kind of just punched it out there the other way didn’t hit it real hard but he got just enough of it to dunk it behind the infield and I tell you what you’ll take those every day you can get them runners of the corners here one away now it’s the right fielder Matt Walmer first pitch and that’s in for a strike swings through that one out in front that time
very well executed change up right there if he can command the fast consistently that’s going to be an important pitch in terms of him turning this outing around and that is downstairs now one and two movement in the bullpen jansen Junk appears to be getting loose quattrol warming up as well two on one out he’s trying to stay down in the zone but the hitter just will not chase now back in a two- two count he’s going to have to go to something else to get him out next pitch misses way outside france the runner at third jeffers over at first with one away and that’ll load the bases that’s a tough one to swallow right there if you’re on the mound you’re ahead in the count 02 and you just couldn’t find a way to put him away it’s going to be frustrating if that one comes back to bite him here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen sandy Alcantur won’t go any further two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout and we’ll be back with a new pitcher on the mound now valente Beoo well he’s been a really tough guy to take deep this season you usually have to string some hits together in order to get to him so bases all loaded up bader will hit next fly ball down the line sanchez ranging after it he’s got it and there’s two down
that’s just a really nice catch on the run right there he saved extra bases for sure if the pitcher’s his friend he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch
so now the DH spot byron Buckton yeah don’t need much damage here just a base hit likely will score two swing and a fly ball well struck left field he’s got it and that’s the third out but two runs for him and they jump ahead to the bottom of inning number four now it’s the Twins three and the Marlins one welcome back and they turn to a new arm as we kick off the bottom of the fourth chris Paddock
coming on to face a righty here and he’s been fantastic against him this year his numbers in those matchups are very good wagaman the lead off batter as he looks at ball one one ball one strike fast ball catches the corner at the knees gets a piece and stays alive and a one-two swing and a miss struck him out that’s tough if you see it well I mean that was clearly up and out of the strike zone but that’s one of the hardest things
but when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch if I can see it really well at eye level I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity
pigs now in the box comes up empty with a swing there pitch is in the dirt and it’s one and one
the Twins leading by two we’re here in the bottom of the fourth and that’s in there at the knees [Music] strike three and that’s two in a row very strong coming out of the pin so far as he punches out the first two batters he’s faced in this one getting straight to work man it’s talked about a lot but relievers are just so electric these days these aren’t fun at bats if you’re a hitter i’m so glad I’m retired stepping in Connor Norby and there’s the strike two outs he swings and fouls one off goes down swinging for the strike out and he strikes out the side here in the fourth
impeccable command in that one three batters three strikeouts that’s electric stuff out there on the mound back here at Lone Depot Park top five John Shabi with Chris Singleton and leading it off Trevor Lick bezo back to work ball one there bezo measures 5′ 10 in 25 years old and they went out and made a trade for him last season there’s a strike out to short lopez zips it across and a quick out number one this is Willie Castro one for two strike on the inside corner and it’s 0 and one that’s down and in base is empty one away and we’re in the top of the fifth just misses the mark outside the zone really good take especially with two strikes that just misses counts full three and two
he’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here i love it
swings through that one it’s a strike out and here comes Carlos Koreah sing you talk about a guy that has all the skills the range is really good but the arm just stands out and he makes all the plays in there and it’s 0 and one
and because of that big power arm he’s able to play a little bit deeper make throws from the outfield grass all the way across the diamond and still get a pretty good runner that’s impressive this one looks like trouble makes the turn and heads for second in safely it’s a double and his second hit couple of hits in a row for him here off the bat it was headed for the gap all the way and as a hitter you love seeing those as you take your first couple of steps out of the box you know you got some real estate to run on and such a good feeling nice liner into the gap right there
ty France the next twin up to hit he’s been a great free agent side that’s in there strike one out to short lopez slings to first that’s out number three twins wind up stranding one and the score stays three to one and we’re back we head to the bottom of the fifth and now the center fielder Dane Meyers first offering misses badly for ball one you know these Marlins as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate so many of their outs have come from weak contact on pitches they’re chasing outside of the strike zone you can’t do much of anything with those locations and that’s been true again today outside low and it’s two and one
and as a pitcher when the hitters are swinging at everything you feel no need to challenge inside the zone you just keep working the corners and expanding that strike zone and beyond and they just keep eating right out of your hand [Music] make it four strikeouts in a row just cruising along
well I have to think he was sort of leaning out over the plate trying to protect that outside corner since everything in that at bat had been away so that was a great call to run the fast ball inside he had excellent command with it locked him up couldn’t react and pull the trigger back to the top of the Miami order next to hit Xavier Edwards in the air left field down the line lick makes the grab two away the right field number seven now the number two hitter Jesus Sanchez he’s 0 for one popped up to the left into foul ground and that’s a foul ball he’s done a great job getting the first two outs want to get this number two hitter get back in the dugout and face 345 next inning swing and a popup foul territory for the catcher and that’s a foul ball
two down nobody on last half of inning number five pulls the string with the change up struck him out and one two three go the Marlins and it remains a 3-1 ball game and welcome back to the ballpark all right we go to the top half of inning number six now here is Brooks Lee and first offering is fouled off on the ground to third and he can’t come up with it still able to fire over and they get the out good recovery wasn’t easy following the misplay here’s the catcher Brian Jeffers first pitch misses doublebarreled action in the bullpen jansen Junk appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves this would be his major league debut quantrol getting loose as well high in the air out to right sanchez calls it in two away so digging in Matt Walmer he is struck out and he is walked hit in the air center field meyers makes the catch in and over nothing doing for the offense that time hard in the order 345 coming up it’s the Twins three and the Marlins won back here in Miami and now the shorts stop Otto Lopez in there at the knees strike one
well in this one the offense has sputtered somebody’s got to find a way to get on keep the line moving and manufacture at least one run then maybe you get two or three just missed activity in the bullpen cole Sands getting loose out there colom the lefty warming up as well on the ground right side dives and he can’t hang on no throw and they can’t get the out the Ramirez now at the plate in for a strike one
now these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here try to close that gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game fought off foul with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here and that’s a strike out matthew Ross says he went around here’s the left fielder kyle Stard for two in this one delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 with the tying run at the plate here in the bottom of the six paddock moved to first and he dives back in safely swing and a miss and that’s strike two 02 and that’s outside lopez stands at first with one out in there got him looking and that one split the plate
oh interesting he’s looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the leadoff single back-to-back strikeouts so they haven’t been able to move that runner up get him into scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring i tell you good job so far on the mound he just needs one more out so two down now and here is Eric Wagaman he’s already homered in this game first pitch and he just misses
one ball go straight fast ball is outside
he hasn’t wanted to challenge him both of those pitches off the plate away don’t expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here that one hit to right walner on his way over and he makes the catch and that will end the inning so one hit is all they get we’re through six full it’s the Twins three and the Marlins won back here in Lone Depot Park so here’s Bader now and the first offering a fast ball for a strike and that one lifted in the air center field one away and now Byron Buckton pretty amazing athlete this guy is power and speed quite a threat i mean you’re talking about someone that could steal your bag and go deep bo Jackson anyone base is empty one away here in the top half of inning number seven fouled off left side he’s like Mike Trout you figure whatever you put in his hand whether it’s a bat whether it’s a golf club whether it’s a basketball he can do it and get it done and a rare talent so much fun to watch one down base is empty fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two swinging a ground ball up the middle fires over to first that takes care of Buckton [Applause] two down base is empty so up next for Minnesota Trevor Lick 0 for three with three ground outs [Music] there’s a swing and a drive and it bangs off the foul pole home run so he just clears the wall and they add on it’s 4-1 and that shot makes their grip on the lead even tighter well he really crushed that thing down the line and everyone had to hold their breath until it clanked off the pole and every time that happens it just kind of feels like a trick shot or something but really it’s just a stroke of luck that it stays fair long enough
and now Willie Castro two down to this one ripped but foul to the right foul ball still 0 and two i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up
swings and misses at the breaking ball in the dirt in time so the drop third strike doesn’t hurt him and that’s that minnesota solo shot extends the lead it’s now a 4-1 ball game it’s Major League Baseball on the show and we’re back and now the catcher comes up to him Liam Hicks pitches in for a strike 0 and one man i mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was fouled off he was late and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again and that’s in the dirt [Music] [Applause] fights that one away still one and two and a swing and a miss and he’s up to eight strikeouts in this one
well he’s showing some pretty dominating stuff out there in this one not just in terms of swing and miss but also in terms of command you know all the strikeouts they just kind of speak for themselves but when you don’t walk anyone you’re demonstrating that you have the confidence in your abilities to truly go right after opposing batters nor up for the third time and takes ball one
the Twins leading by three here the bottom of the seventh grounds one to short oh K pick it up cleanly and he’s going to make it to first and we’ll see how they score hard to tell exactly what went wrong right there that was a fairly routine ground ball but he just couldn’t get it to stick and the glove might have taken his eye off it a little early but regardless you’re going to have to work around that error
here’s the center fielder Dane Meyers the bit behind with that swing it’s strike one this is a good situation if you want to try to steal a base nine hitter man you’re about to turn this lineup over so get a little momentum as you turn it over swinging a miss at a slider
well you got the hitter already chasing that nasty slider if you’re on the mound you just want to expand the zone right now get a swing and miss and get through this at bat
norby over at first with one away swaying and a ball popped in the air and it falls and they’ll have runners at the corners after a one out single two on one out xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here one for three ball one no strikes first and third one down and another ball could be some action here on this next pitch couple runners on probably a challenge pitch coming the tying run at the plate that one missed [Applause] pumps in a strike and now
three and one the count and that one fouled off [Music] tying run at the plate and that one is popped in the air shallow center and it drops in the run scores from third it’s an RBI single and it’s 42 oh that gets him a little closer in this one when you flare a ball out behind second base it’s really a tough spot for anyone to get to and you’re never trying to do that as a hitter but when you do I tell you what you’re yelling at it the entire way to get down now a huge at bat in this game coming up so up next Jesus Sanchez fast ball for a strike at 95 one out runners at first and second this one lifted in the air left field makes the grab and there’s two out otto Lopez digs in now this is what stat nerds like myself might call a high leverage situation yeah boo not sure what the numbers say but clearly an at bat that could change the course of this game dramatically line drive base hit here comes the throw but it’s off round he will score and it’s a one-run game well he delivers in a huge spot right there well he’s so dialed in i don’t think he even realizes how much pressure exists out there very easy swing nice and relaxed this is the type of approach you want to see guys take in this situation here comes the manager out of the Twins dugout and he will make a move to the pen chris Paddock out of the game and he leaves in a one-run game new pitcher coming on we’ll be back in a minute cole Sands on the pitch here these are the spots relievers really make a name for themselves late and close there’s not much margin for error but at the same time there’s a reason they’re put in these situations first and second two outs here’s the cleanup hitter for Miami augustine Ramirez out towards right center field bader sizing it up drops into the glove and that is the inning so two runs on three hits an error but two are left stranded eighth inning coming up it’s the Twins four and the Marlins three and welcome back to the ballpark now koreah up to hit Bezo back to work
and that one just misses a ball and no strikes action in the pen down there jansen Junk the hard throwing righty is up and loosening bender also throwing next offering in there for a strike and the count even at one ripped in the air left field and a’ll touch down for a base hit man aboard on the leadoff single anything but pretty right there but he’ll take it every time there are a lot of nicknames people have attached to hits like that blooper flare ducks snort lawn dart etc but whatever you want to call it it’s a knot and those are the ones that’ll make you smile as a hitter just about every time
and now it’s going to be Tai France just missed next offering upstairs [Music] and another ball at this point in the game you cannot issue free passes he’s going to have to challenge this hitter hitter’s got to be ready to swing it fly ball center field meyers makes the catch and there’s one down now at the plate Brooks Lee there’s the strike
dangerous spot for that slider right there didn’t seem to quite finish out front and get that sharp break tell you what he doesn’t want to throw that pitch again and that’s downstairs and outside and that one upstairs karan the runner at first with one gone in the inning and there’s a foul ball brown ball to the right side finds its way through base hit quick throw back in lead runner holds it second with one gone he kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock and you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole first and second one out brian Jeffers the next twin up to hit
we just might be talking about this at bat in our postgame rap he’s proven he can drive in runs in these spots could use a ground ball here something in the infield runner at first base get two get out of this two on one out in there at the knees going to count one and two
just a really nice slider down and in there he wants to get the hitter thinking fast ball speed him up and just subtract some velocity and add a little movement and that misses off the outside edge
man oh man i don’t know how you take that pitch that’s as close as it gets left field sters sizing this one up he’s got it and there are two down just pulled off of it a little bit right there that front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed if he does that he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left
now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen valente Beayoo is done and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this new pitcher now Anthony Bender and one thing on him he’s been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park not an easy guy to take deep matt Walmer the next to hit at 96 that pitch is in for a strike first and second two down and we’re in the top of the eighth a little out front there as he swings through he finds himself in a tough situation early just going to try to simplify it take a knock the other way if you can this to third that ends the inning as they squander a chance to pick up some insurance nice work from the Miami Pen there last half of the eighth coming up it’s the Twins four and the Marlins three back here in Miami ready for the bottom of the eighth leading off Kyle Sters popped up foul territory behind the plate great catch foul ground up against the wall one pitch one out eric Wagaban the next up for the Marlins he’s already homered here in this one and that one is downstairs and that’s ball one just missed holding on to a one-run lead here in the bottom half of the eighth inning and a foul ball makes the count two and one late swing fouled off [Music] swings and miss has struck him out and here’s the catcher Liam Hicks 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out and that’s through there for a strike and it’s 0 and one and there’s a ball swinging a foul back and that’s out of play very solid inning on the mound so far here in the eighth holding on to this narrow lead this is exactly what they were looking for almost got him straighten him up a little bit [Music] looking to get the tying run on base on the ground right side france takes it to the bag marlins set down in order nothing doing here this half ninth inning coming up it’s the Twins four and the Marlins three harrison Bader getting ready to hit twins the center and the first pitch misses for ball one meanwhile activity in the bullpen jansen Junk the young right-hander up and throwing hard hit to third sends it to first bader is out so now the DH spot byron Buckton great speed and great power a great athlete quite simply right through there for a strike when you have a real athletic player and who’s able to do the baseball mechanical things really well look out because the sky’s is the limit on that potential foul ball it stays nothing and two
that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was
good eye right there one-run game here in the top of the ninth and now two and two [Music] fouled off and they’ll do it again battling here as he fouls it away
oh he’s desperately looking for that swing and miss he’s going to have to just change speeds a little bit try to move it around create just a little bit of illusion at the end
ninth pitch of the at bat do next that misses the zone and now it’s three and two three and two the pitch is outside and ball four it wasn’t easy but he earned that walk after a long at bat
runner on at first with one gone and now for the Twins Trevor Lick and the first offering is not close maybe losing command a little bit after the walk next pitch not even close [Music] one- run game one out one on tapped out in front of the plate and that one handled throws to first he’s out up next for Minnesota the second now it’s the second base Willie Castro and the first pitch misses for ball one and another ball two and0 two and0 to count here it comes little chopper rolls fouled runner at second two down here in the top of the ninth comes up empty that’s strike two [Applause] bows that off to the left and will do it again man on second two down still two and two after the foul ball swaying and a miss and that is that so it’s no runs on no hits no errors and one man left 891 do up in the bottom of inning number nine it’s the Twins four and the Marlins three so the closer summon from the bullpen Yan Duron
save opportunity for him right here and he’s their guy time to lock this one down and get out of here with a W and at the plate for Miami Connor Nory 0 for three in this one [Music] that one in triple digits
one next offering is in for a strike ball there that’s a really good job of laying off the O2 high fast ball is going to make that pitcher really have to respect this hitter even though he’s behind in the count one-run game bottom nine that one is upstairs
that was absolute gas triple digits on the gun it’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by hard ground ball for bas and the tying run is on base here in the bottom of the ninth a perfect example right there that plate discipline it pays off the deeper he gets into account the more comfortable he becomes and he usually wins the battle so digging in Dane Meyers and a good fast ball to start him off at strike one [Music] there’s the strike and that’s a great take right there even though it’s a strike with the situation runner on first base you want to keep the ball off the ground and you swing at that pitch most likely you roll into a double play fights it off you’ll see another Tying run at first the winning run at the plate hit in the air right field walner coming on no trouble here puts it away for the out and there’s one down second base he’s two outs away xavier Edwards will hit next swing and a miss that one at 101 so many hard throwing relievers in the game these days you would think that hitters have made the adjustment but I don’t know if you ever get used to it just pumping gas out of the bullpen so hard to play catchup [Music] brock Stewart ready or not in the game now after the injury and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year the numbers stack up with some of the best in the game highf fly ball out towards left field and it hops over the wall for an automatic double and boy do they catch a break otherwise you’re looking at runners around the bases and probably run that scores jesus Sanchez the next up for the Marlins and that’s in for a strike the winning run on second base swings and chases a low one there well if he’s going to do something special right here it’s going to have to happen with two strikes one and two
in the dirt wow that’s a great job behind the dish there two on one out and that one almost got him got him swinging it’s a strike out and the Marlins with just one out left now this is where the team aspect really comes into play on the offensive side of the game right i mean missed opportunity to tie it up with the runner at third one out couldn’t put the ball in play so now it’s time to pick him up and that’s where good teams they go to they operate so with second and third occupied they go for the intentional walk base is now loaded and there’s a force at every base two outs base is full now a chance for Augustine Ramirez trying to deliver as the hero
oh how he’d love to walk it off right here that’s a strike
tough situation right here so important as a pitcher to get ahead in the count as he did right there next offering is in for a strike
perhaps not quite ready to hit first two pitches by him for a couple of strikes now back is against the wall he’s going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly the Marlins down to their final strike [Music] got him and that’s the ball game well this was a pressurepacked finish tying run at third the winning run at second base somehow he found a way to make his pitches got his team out of the jam got the win everybody’s happy
4-3 our final score for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show i’m John Shami thanks for joining us heat heat stop it
