Twins vs. Marlins Game Highlights (7/1/25) | MLB Highlights

Great to see Royce Lewis is back off the injured list and he is in the lineup tonight hitting eighth and third base here in game one of this series, Rocco ball four and five. His career record managing against Miami Edward cabrera is just about set to go. If they do win their eighth straight, it would be the first eight game winning streak for the Marlins since September of 2008. Ramirez was in that lineup. Dan Ula was in that lineup and more will see Byron Buxton, the righty hitting center fielder. The 22 drops over for called strike three. We talked about the secondary pitches. The curveball just freezes Buxton for the strikeout. Nick drills high in the air to right center field. Sanchez and Myers going back on the track as room and he makes the catch for out number two Castro Spanks out to left field down the line on the, the chalk he’s got room and he makes the catch step into foul territory to end a 123 innings for cabrera right guy on the mound here and joe Ryan who’s been very good all season long coming off the loss. He is, he’s been, he sent for this ball club. It’s a legitimate question to ask, where would this ball club be if it were not for joe Ryan the way he pitched in June and you can look back to, you know, ever since Pablo Lopez went down , he has stepped in with confidence he’s taken on that role as the ace and you look at around baseball, every team, every good team I believe has that one pitcher that can stop a losing streak. Edwards in the air to right plenty of room for Walner and line in the center field and sanchez has a one out single and the 01 in the air to right and playable for Walder sweeper there from Ryan weak contact from Lopez who two down, sanchez remains at first to bring up ramirez on and bounce right back to the mound. Joe’s got it in his big red glove underhand flip to first and the inning is so sanchez a one out single but ryan strands him at first. We played one scoreless from Miami. Carlos Correa leads things off followed by Walner and Lee were in the top of the second from Miami. The 31 is ripped diving stop by Connor Norby to his feet in a skip throw to first. He got him pick it. Norb Connor Norby does that and purposely as he came up, he threw that ball on one hop, that’ll give him a little uptick there in the defensive runs saved metric column back here. Low Depot park scoreless after an inning and a half a plate and that came inside and hit to and joe Ryan now is hit 11 batters Minnesota. That got the, didn’t it? Oh, yeah. Didn’t hit his elbow after the calls over. That was not hit by pitch. It’s a foul ball. Right. Challenge twins keep the challenge and back to a fly ball in the air right field and deep w there is going back out of the warning track looking up and it’s gone one to the good for the Marlins here in the second. They break the ice. It’s one. Let’s take that challenge back. Let’s put this guy on with a hit by a pitch instead, second chance for ST and he blasts his 14th home run and it’s 1 to 0. Miami 7-Up and seven down for Eddie. That’s a strikeout, 34 flyouts, a couple of ground balls all over the place. Royce was swinging that really well when he got hurt, he got hurt on his second hit of the game. He homered earlier that this one skips by Norby watching Royce run here. He rounds first on his way to second base, so make it. And so Lewis is at second base with one out and the tying run is in scoring position and he got him with the curveball, second strike out of the ball game for Edward Cabrera, that’s now 399 strikeouts. Buxton and the pitch right there called strike 3, 400 major league strikeouts for Edward Cabrera. He becomes the third fastest in franchise history to reach that mark here tonight, it remains 1 to 0. Miami as we go to the bottom of the fourth. Otto Lopez covered to the plate shot to third base. A one hopper for Royce Lewis picks it up and throws him out and just like that one out. Otto Lopez bounces into a first pitch ground ball out Ramirez on Lowe to left center but in the yard for Willie Castro and there are two down swung on a miss and the inning is done. So Joe ryan is heating up another strikeout for Joe and he’s retired nine straight since the ST home run in the top of the fifth inning. It’s one over Minnesota thanks to a kyle Sto’s solo shot. Cy’s 10 pitcher bounces right side of the mound. Cabrera off the hill quickly. He’s got it. He flips to it covering hicks at first and here’s a slow roller out to second. Edwards waits on it gets the speedy lead. Two away. Last four outs have been on the ground, two pitch that one hit on a line out to center myers coming in. He makes the catch sprinting in to retire the side. Edward Cabrera through five innings of one hit shutout ball. Jory is throwing well again tonight but nothing yet in terms of offense from his teammates, one, nothing Marlins bottom five up the middle. It’s Lee on the shortstop side, long throw and a nice dig by Ty France and Brooksley. Another wonderful play on the infield. I think the Metros love the range on that play. That ball was on the third base side. Brooksley went all the way over probably 10 ft to the other side of second base and threw that ball from the outfield grass and hernandez is retired now, hicks this one more routine and rather elementary and skies. This one to center and Byron Buxton squeeze it and three up three down Edward Cabrera is back out there for a clean top of the sixth inning. He’s through five innings of one hit shutout ball. Chopper hit to short Norby cuts off Lopez off balance throw and he got him hit weekly, believe it or not to third nor he’s got it. Marlins flashing a little leather here tonight. Broken back ground ball, the third, Connor Norby does it all himself. Norby was a busy man but Cy is dialed six innings of one hit shutout ball in 70 pitches. Fars leading one nothing. We’re in the top of the seventh inning and Cabrera has played a big part in that the 22 pitches swung on and missed strike three and there’s one way to start the seventh inning for two hits softly, left side, Norby on the move has it fires it to first not going to get Castro. That is the first hit for the Twins since a one out double in the third snaps, a stretch of 12 in a row retired by Edward cabrera. And here comes Carlos Correa speed at first Cabrera looking in kicks and fires runner goes swing of the best throw down to second base. Not in time. Did he come off the bag? No, but that punch out two away. And that’s ball four first walk of the game for Cabrera switch hitting Brooks lead with two on and two out in a one run game here in the seventh as the Marlins get the bullpen going here, he struck him out with a changeup and Cabrera’s fired up seven shutout and he might have saved his best pitch for last Edward Cabrera Ks Brooks Lee and he’s through seven scoreless against the Twins. We go to the bottom of the seventh inning. A 10 game. Ryan still out there and they are two on now with two outs for Connor. No, his short career ranging that way flicks to suck it and, and he’s out and the Marlins holding up play here for a moment and they’re gonna say challenge the flip to Lee has the ball is that cleat engaged with the base. Any part of that spike on that corner after the call in the fields, runners out, Miami will lose their and Ryan’s through 71 run innings. It’s 1 to 0 after seven, a couple of brilliant outings turned in by our starting pitchers here tonight. 31 pitch in the center field and deep Buxton’s going back on the track. He is at the wall, he leaves and it’s still in play. He brought it back in. Sanchez is around second headed towards third and he slides in with a two out triple. I do think if Buxton doesn’t make a leaping attempt that that ball was going to carry him into the bushes there for a homer and the twins are going to walk Lopez intentionally some motivation now for Fortes here with two on slow build to this but some action late that is hit down the right field line could be trouble twisting and for a fair ball. 20, Miami and nick Fortes, welcome to the party and there’s a little bit of insurance. Nick came in for defensive reasons and something is triggered and Nick Fortes and he drops one in for a big insurance run bidding for his fourth save of the season in a two nothing game here in the n last chance Willie Castro, one for three twins. Only two hits Castro single in the seventh. A Royce Lewis double in the third. That’s it in the air. Should do it left center field by Hill calls them off. Give him a, it’s an eight game winning streak for the Marlins when the twins were shut out for the second straight game and Miami has won eight straight for the first time since 2008 2 nothing Marlins here in game one of this three game series.

    Baseball for Grandpas.

Me n my brother are on a mission to convert all the baseball fields to soccer fields. With the help of county residents so far we successfully transferred 5 fields. 7 more to go

  2. The Twins should be a super easy win for any team… You don't even have to pitch strikes as the Twins are the record holder of strikeouts in the MLB and on the verge of breaking that record this year.. They swing at just about anything that isn't above their head or thrown to first or 3rd base.. lol.. They also lead the league in throwing errors and are among the worst in the league in general. This is a Team I doubt should even belong in the AA mucless the AAA . If you lose against the Twins you are having a really bad day or throwing easy to hit balls down the middle of the plate.
