[Applause] well we’re going to find out The Sharks picking at number two The commissioner with the call [Applause] It It’s time for the second pick in the NHL entry draft Making the selection for the San Jose Sharks is someone born and raised in San Jose She’s a WWE superstar and twotime WWE Smackdown champion I give you Bailey [Applause] Thank you so much Nice to meet you Nice to meet you Thank you Hello Los Angeles hockey fans It is a huge honor to be here tonight and a huge honor to represent my San Jose Sharks Hey you better watch them booze All right so without further ado with the second overall selection in the 2025 NHL draft the San Jose Sharks are proud to select from the Sagena spirit Michael Misa Ah so it is Misa an elite offensive talent Sagenov’s highest player they’ve ever had drafted number two overall Remember Zane Car your boy went number nine to Calgary Steel Several teams are trying to trade up to get him but Megan it’s Misa in San Jose And I think Misa is just off the charts offensively You can’t really pass up that style of player Even if you want to go a little bit bigger or tougher it was just too good of a pick and he really makes an impact in all three zones I was going into this season thinking Miso is mainly playmaking and vision but he scored 62 goals in the OHL So he’s just everything
21-time so he has that weapon on the power play playing with Celibbrini Will Smith San Jose’s coming Yeah I was told ability to be a firstline center a top three forward when all is said and done And he got the experience of being at the draft last year His brother Luke was a fifth round pick by the Flames So um you know it’s kind of interesting to go through it A lot of these guys I guess keep getting told of how well polished and prepared they are Their agents are doing such a great job but then you see them today and there’s nerves that hit them right like once you’re here you feel it But there’s no nerves with this kid when he’s on the ice right we see
I I you’re exactly right He is very very confident and for good reason And as I mentioned in speaking to him this is down in the bowels of Amaran Arena during Stanley Cup final We were having a conversation about his style of game the people he patties himself after what he works on where he needs to get better To have the wherewithal and the level of composure to be engaged in that conversation while you’re at the cup final This guy won’t be odd by the stage He’s going to be high octane player for San Jose
I love that you’re having highle conversations in the bowels of Amar and Ben I was wondering where you were
I’m trying trying You win Stanley Cups with top five picks Third straight top five pick for San Jose I think they’re the team of the 2030s I really do And you mentioned you know the blastic buyout They can take all kinds of bad contracts for another year or two and accumulate more draft picks to package and move up maybe get more top five picks
They sure can And you know what’s coming right like we saw the flashes of Mlin Celerrini and Will Smith this year They’re only going to get better But this is as you mentioned Buchcci a team to watch because they’re starting to get off some of those bad contracts starting to start fresh and they’ve got a great core of players Again a really strong prospect pool that can all build together
It’s a competitive league though so I think you do have to go for best available and it’ll even be tough for San Jose to break through right
so young exciting but
