MLB LIVE🔴 Detroit Tigers vs Washington Nationals – Jul 2, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Hello and welcome. Thanks for joining us. Inner League Baseball on MLB The Show. It’s the Detroit Tigers and the Washington Nationals. First pitch coming your way next. Just about ready to roll here. And on the hill, the lefty Mitchell Parker. And Singi, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots.
Well, he’s been a real quality starter for his club. And coming into this one, what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year. It seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone. So, we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one. Out of the ground to third. One out in the top of the first. Let’s take a check of the Tigers lineup. Sing the numbers tell us this is an offense designed to swing it. They’re not going to force a ton of action on the bases. And so obviously that is one of the focal points that we’ll look at. And you look at the quality of the at bats because of the fact that the legs aren’t a part of this game. They have to be very selective. Look for long pitch counts grinding out at bats and really barrels to the baseball because it’s a lot easier to jog around the bases than for these players to sprint.
Glabber Torres in the box with one away as he takes ball one. Two balls. No strikes. That one’s spoiled. And the count now two and one. And now the lefty. Ball three. That one finds the zone. That’s strike two.
One out. Space is empty. And they’ll do it again. And there’s ball four. That’s a great at bat. He saw a lot of pitches and earned a walk. Well, that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat. Saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the walk. Very gritty.
One gone runner at first. And now Carrie Carpenter. This one popped up. Garcia has this one sized up. Two away now. Here’s Riley Green. Chris, it’s been a good year for him, having already set a new career high for RBI’s in the season.
Go Nets. Swing and a highf fly ball left field. Wood makes the catch and that is that. Tigers leave one and now the Nets get their first opportunity. There’s no score. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back in Washington DC and on the hill in this one, TK Scoo.
Well, this guy’s just been filthy out there on the mound. hitters batting under 200 against him and they’re just having a hard time squaring up anything, doing any type of damage. The only way he hurts himself is if he gives up the free passes and surreners a rare home run. But outside of that, it’s going to be a tough job for the opposing lineup today. Now for Washington, CJ Abrams. [Applause] And there’s the strike. Good heater at 98. Now this is in the air down the line. Green going after it. Couldn’t get to it before it dropped foul. That one missing inside. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. Gets a piece and stays alive.
Flew open a little bit with that front shoulder, but was able to slow his bat down just enough to make contact with that pitch. Keep the bat alive. Next pitch misses and the count now even up.
This guy’s a fun guy to watch taken at bat. He just battles up there. He doesn’t take a pitch off at all. Makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there. You could tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away. That one misses. So a lead off walk
just missed his spot on the inside right there.
Batting second left fielder. Here’s the left fielder James Wood. Step off throw to first
and he’s back in easily on the ground is short. Could be two. One second over to first. Oh, but we talked about how the ball is coming out of the pitcher’s hand. The way it comes out of his hand as an infielder.
Wow. Really impressive.
And now it’s Luis Garcia. Pitch misses there. And that’s ball one. [Music] You’re the man. Swing and a base hit. They fired in quickly. So, it’s first and second with only one away. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. Didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. Two on, one out. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Nathaniel Low. And there’s the strike.
He’s a master at hitting fast balls. You need to be careful with location if you’re going to throw them. Wood the lead runner at second. Garcia over at first. So one away. And now it’s even up.
Way to lay off that pitch down. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Ground ball right side down the line and it’s foul. Really going after him here. All fast balls to get ahead in the count. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again.
Good zip on that fast ball at the bottom of the zone. If he’s there all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the hitters. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Pitcher having a pretty tough time getting that swing and miss. Third foul ball in a row. Two on, one out. That’s to third. McKinstre over to Torres. And that’s two. Poetry in motion there as the second baseman turns the double play. Nice throw to first. And that’s the way to end the inning. Back here in National Park and here’s the first baseman, Spencer Torqulson. Parker back to work. And it skips in the dirt. And a foul ball. [Applause] [Music] fouls it off. Still one and two. Keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. Gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. Strike three and a fast up in the zone. Wow, that’s a tough call for the hitter, but the pitcher will take that all day long.
Not quite in the strike zone, but he found a spot that the umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call. So, hitters are going to have to make an adjustment, but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit them if they can. Now, Zack McKinstry, first pitch, doesn’t find the zone. And another ball. One down, base is empty. Fast ball for a strike. No score here in the second on the ground of first and it goes just foul. Two and two. Fouled off. And they’ll do it again. [Music] That one the other way. On the run. Throw to first. On the money. Nice play. Batting seven. Catcher Dylan Dingler. Two down. Base is empty. Now it’s going to be Dylan Dingler. Definitely scuffling at the dish lately. Barely hitting over the Mendoza line this month. And there’s the strike. 01’s the count. Now this one’s crushed down the line. Hooking. Foul ball. Oh, good solid contact right there. Just a bit out in front of that fast ball. Got to try to stay on that back side just a little bit longer and see if you can do some damage.
Down to the dirt. Swing and a miss. Got him. Inning over on the strikeout. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Josh Bell at the plate now.
First baseman Josh Bell. Foul ball there [Music] and a one. That one missed. Just missed. Was good pitch there. really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Swing and a miss. Struck him out.
He came out of his mechanics there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time a little anxious. Here’s the rookie third baseman, Brady House. Right through there for a strike. [Applause] tapped softly on the ground and foul ball, stays alive. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was.
Highf fly ball out to left field. Green settles under it and makes the grab. And there’s two down. batting seven right fielder number 59 Den Ly now at the plate I’m liking what I’ve seen from him at the dish lately can make it a fivegame hitting streak with a knock in this one and that one fouled off two down swinging a foul back that’s out of Hey, Andy O2 and a foul ball. He stays alive. Got him. And good work there as he gets a one, two, three. Nationals go quietly. We’ll move to the third with no score. And we’re back. Here’s the center fielder. Parker Meadows. There’s the strike. [Music] Popped up to the left into foul ground. Makes the catch. And there’s one away. Batting ninth, shortstop, Javier Bayz. Here’s Bayz. Bayz hitting ninth in today’s lineup. And he was born in Puerto Rico. late on that fast ball. Instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended, tied him up a little bit. Slightly up, slightly in.
That misses the zone. And that’s ball two. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. That one fouled off. Two and two. Top of the third. No score. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. And a swing and a line drive into right field. Dives, but it falls. Could be extra bases now around second. Going for third and he’s got himself a triple. He was all over that one. Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line. You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages, working on going to the opposite field, and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did, and he did it perfectly. Runner in scoring position now, and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. And next is the designated hitter, Colt Keith. grounded out his first time. Next offering popped in the air right field. Lyle makes the play. Runner tags for home. In comes the first run of the game. It’s one- nothing Tigers. Sometimes all you got to do is your job and don’t over complicate things. Keep it simple. Runner third, less than two outs. Put the ball in play and a nice job with the sack fly. [Applause] Torres now in the box. Comes up empty with a swing there. [Applause] Just missed. [Music] [Applause] CL gets a piece. One and two. [Applause] Fights it off. He’ll see another. He’s getting the barrel to the ball. Just got to work on that timing a little bit.
Two outs into center. That’s a base hit. Hitting is really easy for some guys. One thing that I can see already is bat stays in the zone on plane for an extended period of time. And guys like that, they have a high contact rate and they have more barrels because of that bat being on plane. And even when you don’t get it great, it’s still hit hard enough to dunk something in like that in front of the center fielder. [Applause] Swinging a drive deep right field. That one is gone. That’ll fire up the dugout and they add a pair. It’s 3 nothing. already playing with the lead and now they’re celebrating a home run. They’re having a great time out there. [Applause] Yeah, Bu. Clearly some frustration out there on the mound right now. I mean, that ball was so close to going foul. would have been a long strike, but instead batter gets rewarded. Did a nice job of getting to the pitch and hitting it hard enough to get over the fence. And now here is Riley Green. Well struck right field and it’s off the foul pole for a home run. They do it again. Backto back homers. Home run number 20 on the year and they add to their lead. It’s 4 nothing. Well, he really crushed that thing down the line and everyone had to hold their breath until it clanked off the pole. And every time that happens, it just kind of feels like a trick shot or something, but really it’s just a stroke of luck that it stays fair long enough. At the plate, Spencer Torqulson fought off foul. [Applause] And that’s the inside edge and it’s one and one.
Well, a really rough inning out there on the mound and uh this is one of those where you learn a lot about a guy’s toughness and his ability to turn the page and keep pressing forward. two down on three balls, one strike. Swing and a chopper out to short. Abrams tosses the first and they get Torqulson for the out. And they’re happy to just get off the field after that frame. But two round tripers in this inning, the long ball was working. It’s now a four nothing ball game back in Washington DC. Bottom of the inning and here’s the catcher Drew Millis.
Drew Millis. Basketball for a strike.
This is a very important inning here. After scoring all those runs, you want your pitcher to come out and just mow them down. The offense has worked hard. It’s shut down inning time. swings and misses and it’s on two. Another 02 count right here. Pitcher just in the driver’s seat. He can go anywhere he wants to go right here. Breaking ball in there. Got him looking. That K is his third of the game. Tunnled that pitch. Thought it was going to be a slider breaking in off the plate, but it hugged the corner.
And at that point when he recognized it, it was just too late.
Next to hit for the Nats, Jacob Young. slashed foul down the right side. That’ll hook off into the seats. Next offering in there for a strike. And that’s strike two. Now fly ball to right center. Meadows makes the catch for the out. Now batting short stop
CJ Abrams now from the ball game. Close one doesn’t get the call. One and0. Next offering is fouled back. Swings and misses. And the count one and two.
Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it.
Throw on to Torqulson. That’s the third out. Inning over and the Nationals gone in order. They’re on the short end of a four nothing score. Back here in Nationals Park, John Shambi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Zack McKinstry. popped in the air left field and it drops in. And a good start to the inning. The first move felt like a bit of a guess. You have to be right in those spots or things get away from you awfully quickly. And up next for Detroit, Dylan Dingler. He’s 0 for one. First pitch, not close.
Well, these Tigers doing a good job of simply getting the bat on the ball in this game. And the numbers back that up. They’re hitting everything thrown at them. Their contact rate is in the low 90s. It’s like they know what’s coming. And that’s just pretty ridiculous what they’re doing right now. Those numbers are well above the major league average. That one way outside two and one. This one popped off. Milis has a beat on it and puts the squeeze on that one. And there’s one down. Now batting the center fielder Parker Meadows and stepping in is the speedy Parker Meadows. First time up was a pop out. That one finds the corner and one. Always tough to turn two on a speedster like this. It’s even harder with him coming out of the left-handed batters box. You really need something hit hard on the ground that they can handle to turn to quickly. That’s towards center. Young settles underneath it, snags it for the second out. Now batting shortstop Javier Bayz. And now it’s Bayz. He tripled and scored his first time. Now snap throw to first and he dives back in safely. [Applause] One left for Detroit, but they’re in front. Four nothing. Bottom of the fourth. And now for Washington, James Wood.
Left fielder. James Wood. Slapped foul. And that’s way high. And it’s one and two. Way to lay off that fast ball up right there. You’re looking for something you see well that you can handle, but you also This one swung on and hit well way back there and gone. [Music] His 23rd of the year and they’re chipping away. It’s 4-1. [Applause] Oh, that one got in the jetream on a line drive. We saw the numbers on the backs of the jerseys of the outfielders, which is usually bad news. And all of a sudden, they’re back in this ball game. So, up next, Luis Garcia, one for one with a single so far. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Part of the order coming through now. And with one home run already in this inning, they’re definitely looking to do some more damage. [Applause] And another ball right now behind in the count. Two balls and no strikes. No free passes. You can’t allow that. That’s inside. Three and0. Scoo maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run, Chris. Yeah, it seems that way. You know, guys, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch. They’re not trusting their stuff. Well, he’s been good for the most part. Is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit? Well, partner, every pitcher’s a little different. I I liken it to you. Sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show. Uh so perhaps it’s the same with him. Nobody really wants their rhythm broken out, but sometimes they need a little pickme up.
Nathaniel Nathaniel up to hit. He hit into a double play his first time up. It immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Next offering is fouled back. One out. Base is empty and a run in. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth to the right side. Torres fires to first in time. Now batting first baseman Josh Bell. Here’s Josh Bell. Went down on strikes his first time through. [Applause] There’s the strike. Oh, he’s looking great so far. It helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes. He might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up.
Swinging a miss.
Bringing the cheese on that one.
No ball, two strikes. One ball, two strikes. [Applause] and the one two misses to even the count. Really good take especially with two strikes. [Applause] And that’s downstairs. And now it’s three and two. Two outs. Bases empty. swing and a miss. Struck him out. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. But the Nationals get one back on the solo homer. It’s now a 4-1 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark. Now it’s the DH. Colt Keith Parker back to work out into left center for a line drive. Bas man aboard on the leadoff single. You’re kidding me. Went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. I don’t know how he’s able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it. That pitch was inside and he let it get really deep. So, pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wood on it.
It appears Dave Martinez is ready to dive into his bullpen as he comes out of the dugout to make the change. Mitchell Parker will depart. And this is one he’d like to forget. Back with a new arm after this.
New pitcher on here, Trevor Williams. Well, he’s been hit pretty hard at times this season as you see with the big erra. So this is an important outing for him to get on the right track.
Glabber Torres up to the plate. That misses the zone. Ball one.
Well, these Tigers putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So I’d say mission accomplished. The one inside just missed.
Keith on at first. Nobody out. Fast ball for a strike. Good approach right there. You want to get something just a little higher that you can elevate. Stay out of that double play. [Applause] Late swing fouled off. 2-2 now. And that’s downstairs and outside.
He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Ground ball left side. Could be two. Abrams over to second. Relay to first. Double play. Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish.
The Tigers rightfielder Carrie Carpenter. And now the right fielder Carrie Carpenter. He’s already homered in this game. That just misses. And that’s ball one. Two down, nobody on. And we’re at the top of the fifth. So, two balls and no strikes activity in the Washington bullpen. Number 61 looks to be getting ready for Dave Martinez. Sarroa also getting ready. Just missed. Three ball. No strikes. Knee [Music] high. That’s in for a strike. And there’s a foul ball. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And a nice inning of work there as he sets him down. One, two, three. Tigers fail to make any noise as they hold on to a 4-1 lead. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Up now for Washington. Brady House. Brady House. Yeah, the first offering a fast ball for a strike.
You know, these Nationals just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. Chasing pitches has been a big part of the story. We’ve seen it quite a bit today. It’s been tough for him to make contact at times and it just doesn’t look like they’re seeing it very well as a group. Swinging a foul out of play.
And on the mound, you know, confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses. He’s had him eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game. That one 95 to finish him off. And now here’s the speed threat outfielder Dalen Lyle. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. He’s been going after these guys consistently and as a result he’s been able to keep his pitch count low. Throwing the ball very well right now. [Music] One down, base is empty. So a foul ball makes it one and two. Fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Now batting catcher.
Two out. Space is empty. Here’s the catcher. Drew Millis caught looking his first time up. That one finds the zone. Strike one. Next offering is fouled back. The Tigers leading by three. Last half of inning number five. That’s outside that one inside. Look out. Three, [Applause] making four strikeouts in a row. Just cruising along. Nothing doing for Washington. And this is still a 41 ball game. And we’re back. Top six. Now here’s the Tigers cleanup hitter, Riley Green. Late on that fast ball. I think he was sitting off speed there.
One’s the count. [Music] Next one misses. One ball, one strike. And that drops in for a strike. [Music] Got him looking. And one gone. Now batting first base hit Spencer Torqulson bowl for two in this one.
With this kind of lead, he can swing freely, try to hit the ball out of the park, do what he loves to do and first offering is fouled off. Base is empty, one away and we’re the top half of the sixth. [Music] swings through that. No balls, two strikes. And down on strikes he goes. And he’s registered three Ks in this one. Boo. He was shopping at the bump right there. The way that slider made him look. That was just nasty. Here’s the third baseman, Zack McKinstry. One for two. Right through there for a strike. Here we go. Nationals. That one’s in there. And that is strike two.
Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now in an 02 hole. He’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. [Applause] Liner to second and picked on the hop on to first and it’s a one, two, three inning. Offense held in check there. 91 and two scheduled to hit in the home half of the six. Tigers four and the Nats won. Well, we go bottom six. And now the center fielder, Jacob Young.
Jacob Young. Young goes 5′ 11 in, 25 years old, and he was drafted in the seventh round in 2021. Next pitch misses inside. Now 2 and 0. fouled off down the right side. Swing and a ground ball base hit right field. Solo runner aboard to start the inning. Not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play. That’s a team at bat right there. nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep. And now they’ve got some speed on first. So, we’ll see if they try to get him into motion. So, the batting order turns over. CJ Abrams the next to hit. Here comes the pitch. Runner breaks for second. Strike in there. Save at second with a stolen base. Chris, his wheels were the difference maker on that play. Just got in there. Yeah, with Statcast’s help, we see his top speed on this stolen base. And that’s a big number. I mean, man, he really made his athleticism work for him on that one. Man at second. That one not close. And one and one on the ground to the right side. Torlson tosses to the pitcher covering the bag. One away. Bottom of the six. Now betting left fielder James Wood. Digging in. James Wood. He’s already homerred here in this one. The goal is to give your teammate a chance to score from third. There’s a few ways he can get it done, but his best chance is to drive one in the air. Look for the right pitch up and then smoke it. swings through that one for strike one. He got away with one there, but he knows he can’t go into that spot very often against a guy like this. [Applause] That missed by a lot and the count is one and one.
Young takes his lead at third with one away. Swing and a miss. One ball, two strength. That’s ball two. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Hard hit to third. Throw on to Torqulson now. Two away as they get a run across. So important to really lock in on an at bat like this. It seems easy with the infield back, but you got to make sure you put the ball in play. Put on the ground that run.
So, two down now. And here is Luis Garcia. And that misses and that is ball one in the air left field. Green going after it. No trouble here. puts it away for the out and that’ll do it. So they get one run, one hit, no errors, no one left. We’re through six full Tigers four and the Nationals two. Back in Washington DC, new inning getting started now. Here’s the Detroit catcher Dylan Dingler. That misses and that’s ball one. The Nationals have some action going in the pen. A lefthander appears to be getting ready. Breaking ball misses down and away. line to left lays out and makes the play. Really nice job of tracking that one down. I noticed some initial hesitation ball off the bat. Didn’t look like he got a great read, but he made up for it by closing on it quickly. Laid out and hauled it in. So digging in Parker Meadows and that’s through there for a strike. It’s 0 and one. That’s out. Here we go. And a swing to miss. One ball, two strike. That’s inside.
Ball two. Here we go. Yeah, that’s too high. And a swing and a miss. Down on strikes. He’s notched four strikeouts now.
It’s a good breaking ball there just off the corner where you can’t really do much damage, but it’s close enough to where you got to protect. And he just couldn’t find a way to fight it off. The batter now, Javier Bayz. The shorts stop takes the ball. Two down, nobody on here in the top half of inning number seven. That’s in for a strike.
One and one. [Applause] out towards right center field. Lyle on the move to the gap, brings it in and that’ll do it. [Applause] [Music] Back here in Nationals Park ready to go for the last half of the inning. And now the DH Nathaniel Low and that is downstairs. Ball one moving in the bullpen. Grant her up and throwing. Canley also throwing. And that’s in for a strike.
Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. And that’s outside. Two and two. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another and a fast ball misses outside for a ball and the count is filled up. [Applause] Swing and a miss and he’s down on strikes. Strike out number eight. A big first out here in the seventh via the punch out.
Yeah, it just does so much to change the outlook of an important inning like this. You got the leadoff hitter so critical in setting the table when you got a tight game like this. So a strikeout really puts them on their heels. Bell the next to hit takes outside [Applause] that misses the zone and the count now two nothing. Struggled a little bit in this one. couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at two and 0.
That one fouled off. The lefty closing in on 100 pitches. And there’s a ball. [Applause] [Music] One down. Base is empty. 3-1. and he couldn’t come up with it. And that’ll bring the tying run to the plate.
Well, it might be time to dig into that bull pan. He’s looking a little fatigued to me.
And here comes the Tigers manager to the mound. Pitching change coming. Trick Scoo departs. He exits with the lead and gave them a really nice performance. New pitcher on the bump when we get back. Now for a lefty out of the pen, Rant. and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. Now the third baseman Brady House. Now these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important getting back into this ball game. The tying run at the plate and that’s ripped for a base hit. They get it in quickly. So first and second now one out. Well, that was an important this game. So great job there stepping up to the challenge. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. Allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. Now a huge bat in this game coming up.
First and second, one out. Now it’s the right fielder Dalen Lyall. And that’s him for a strike. And it’s all in one. [Music] [Applause] Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. [Applause] Two on, one out. Oh, one [Applause] and just misses with that one. Man, oh man. I don’t know how you take that pitch. That’s as close as it gets. swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat. Oh, tough night at the dish. Punching out for the third time right there. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable at the plate. A little unsure of his timing right now. Not picking up the spin and location of these pitches. They’ll have some adjustments to make.
Next to hit for the Nets, Drew Millis, who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. Highf fly ball right field. makes the grab. That is the inning. Nicely done from the Tigers bullpen there. We look ahead to inning number eight. Tigers four and the Nationals two. Now pitching.
Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the Jose A. Ferrer.
Oh, he’s been a really tough guy to take deep this season. You usually have to string some hits together in order to get to them. Back to the top of the order now for the Tigers. There’s the strike and that’s in the dirt.
All one strike. [Music] [Music] and a swing in the miss away.
Oh, really expanded the zone right there with that fast ball off the outside corner of the plate. Got him to chase it. That’s a tough one to lay off of because it starts close to you and just continues to run away from you in that batter’s box. So, it’s a really nice pitch with two strikes. It’s in and out of his glove. Still able to fire over and it’s in time. It wasn’t the smoothest play you’ll see today, but they still get the out.
Now that right fielder Carrie Carpenter. So, up next, Carrie Carpenter. His two-run homer back in the third was an important swing of the bat in this one. Yeah, there’s no doubt he helped set the tone fairly early and certainly part of the reason why they’ve got the lead right now on the ground to first. Bell takes it to the bag and the Tigers retired. One, two, three. Tigers are shut down there, but they still lead this one four-2. Ready for the bottom of the eighth. Here’s the center fielder, Jacob Young. Center fielder, Jacob Young. Herder back to work. Pitch misses. One and0. [Applause] line drive and foul ball. Not close with that one and it’s two and one. [Applause] [Music] And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. The two- two gets a piece and stays alive. [Music] gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. [Applause] Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. That’s foul off to the right side. keeps the AB going [Music] and it remains two and two [Music] up the middle now. The throw to first on the run and save. He busted it down the line for that infield single. So, back to the top of the order. Here’s CJ Abrams to hit. That’s inside and it’s one and0 with the tying run at the plate here. the bottom half of the eighth inning. [Applause] Tying run at the plate and a count one and two with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. [Applause] That one misses. Two balls, two strikes the count. That’s a really good take. [Applause] So, here we go. Base runner at first. Could be running on the pitch. He’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position, even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate. Here’s a high chopper. Bayz safe at first as they can’t make the play. Two consecutive base hits for these guys here. Really important coming up now.
James Wood. James Wood digging in for the Nationals. We just might be talking about this at bat in our postgame rap. He’s proven he can drive in runs in these spots. He’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level for him right now at the plate. It’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. Misses inside and that is ball one. [Applause] And that one fouled off [Music] and fouled off. Here’s [Applause] a one-two outside. Lefty continues to work, but the closer getting loose in the bullpen. [Applause] That one misses and it’s a full count. This is a really good feeling for a hitter at this point in the ball game. You know that they don’t want to walk you. So, you’re going to get a pitch to hit. You just better not miss it. [Applause] Hit on the ground. Might be two. Torres tossed to second. Not in time at first. It’s a fieldielder’s choice. That play won’t be trending on social media later on, but it’s still important to execute it to perfection. This game is a lot harder than it looks. Partner manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Grant her gives way and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. back with a new pitcher after this. Now pitching for
So the Tigers get a new arm from the pen. Tommy Canley. Well, the best relievers love the opportunity to come in and protect a tight lead late in the ball game. Some of them are just wired different. So we’ll see what he’s got here. And here is Luis Garcia, one for three. And there’s no doubt that they’ll feed off the energy from this crowd, right?
I mean, yeah. I’d say the intensity level has gone up a few notches for sure. Got the dish looking to lift the ball in the air in this spot. Anything but the inning inning double play. Boo. There’s the strike. 95 of that one.
Got no problem with that take. First pitch from a reliever you haven’t seen for a while. Going to make sure that you can pick up the release point. splits the plate and the count is 0 and two.
Big pitch right here. He’s going to try to make a pitch that’s going to produce a strikeout or a ground ball double play. [Applause] Next offering way off the plate.
Young the runner at third. Wood at first. One gone. [Applause] Swings and misses. struck him out. Here’s Nathaniel Low 0 for three with two ground outs and a strikeout. That misses the zone. Ball one.
Well, this is a critical spot for both the pitcher and the hitter. You can learn a lot about a guy by how he handles these pressure situations. Two on, two outs. Swing and a miss and a count. One and one. Activity in the bullpen for Detroit. Carlos Hernandez preparing to come on if needed. Holton a left-hander also throwing. [Applause] And that is out of play. [Applause] Two outs. Swims through it and that’s a strike out. Sometimes he wears the emotion on the sleeve, but that’s okay as long as he’s getting results. And right there, thrilled with the punch out to get out of a jam. And welcome back to the ballpark. Now the left fielder Riley Green Ferrer 25 years old and he was born in the Dominican Republic. On the corner for a strike 0 and one. They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away [Applause] in the air left field down the line. Nobody can get there and it’s a foul ball. Hit hard on the ground to short. Slings it across and they get the lead off man in the ninth. out. First baseman Spencer Torlson. Spencer Torqulson will hit next. 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. [Applause] Just missed. [Music] Next offering is down low.
Two count. Great hitter at the dish. If you’re going to miss, you’ve got to miss outside the zone. You miss inside the strike zone, you’ll be asking the umpire for a new baseball. [Applause] Base is empty, one away. You’re in the top of the ninth. Ground ball right side and that chance handled. Tosses to first and they get Torqulson for the out. Now batting third baseman Zack McKinstre. Two down, base is empty. Zack McKinstry digs in now. [Applause] First pitch misses. [Applause] And there’s a strike. Good heater at 90. [Applause] The next offering misses two and one. Three balls, one strike. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. That’s a walk. Went with another change up but missed the spot. One of the things about that two out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best.
That is if you are the offensive side of it. [Applause] Dler stands in now and watches strike one. There it was a high velocity fast ball in the zone. I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter. He’s got good stuff. Pitch inside the zone and trust it. [Applause] Little bit low now. Two balls in a strike. Cut on and lifted in the air. Lyle. And that is that. So no runs, no hits, no errors, and one left. Five, six, and seven will lead things off in the bottom of the ninth. Tigers four and the Nationals two. We’re back and on the mound is the closer Will Vest.
Well, he’s the guy they hope to turn to out of the pin to lock down wins. So, this game has gone to plan more or less. Let’s see if he can wrap it up here. And now the switch in first baseman Josh Bell and a pair of strikeouts. [Applause] ripped but a curls foul [Applause] and that one fouled off [Applause] the O2. two smoked on the ground to second. Torres fires over to first, one out, bottom of the ninth.
That’s a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game. It might not be the most challenging we’ve seen today, but it needed to be made. That’s helping your team.
He’s two outs away. Here’s the third baseman, Brady House. [Applause] And first offering is fouled off. [Applause] And that one sliced, fouled. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] One down, base is empty. Foul ball still 0 and two. [Applause] Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. [Applause] Fouled off the plate. They’ll do it again. [Applause] had a good eye there.
Really good slider. He’s up there just hoping that it ends up off the plate away. Swing and a miss. And they’re down to their last out.
Just a mid90s challenge fast ball right there. Not much to it. And I’m sure he’d love another swing at it because
it was in a very hitable location. Those are the swings where you can sometimes start to question yourself as a hitter and say, “How did I miss that?” But you know, it happens. Lyall in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike [Applause] that clips the corner.
He doesn’t seem to like to pitch up. Hasn’t offered on either one of those pitches. 02 count now. I think the guy’s going to climb the ladder out there. Vest is just one strike away. Swing and a miss and he chases that one in the dirt in time ball game and the strike out ends it. Well, this was a tightly played game. Got a little of everything. Some timely hitting, runs on the board, key pitching and defense in certain spots. Definitely a fun one to watch. And your final 42 for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shami. We’ll see you soon. What the move?

This is so FAKE.
If it is a fake, how come they allow it to deceive the fanatics of these teams
Why the AI garbage ?
