And Harrison Bader, the former Florida Gator, is the nine man in left field on the hill for Minnesota. up the righthander Simeon Woods Richardson. So again, Buckton in center, Lick in right, Castro at second, Lee at third, Koreah at short, Walner the DH, Jeffers catching, Clemens at first, and Bader in left, and the right-hander Woods Richardson on the mound. Now the lineup for the hottest team in baseball, the Miami Marlins, who are 38 and 45, and they’re managed by Clayton McCulla. Xavier Edwards leads off and plays second base. Jesus Sanchez is the two-h hitter in right field. Otto Lopez hits third and plays shortstop. Batting fourth, the catcher, Augustine Ramirez. Five hitting left fielder is Kyle Stard. Eric Wagamman back in the lineup. He hits sixth and plays first base. Liam Hicks is the seventh hitting designated hitter. Connor Norby hits eighth and plays third base. Dane Meyers is the nineman in center field. Again, Edwards at second, Sanchez in right, Lopez at short, Ramirez catching, Sters in left, Wagman at first, kicks the DH, Norby at third, Meyers in center field. We’ll tell you about the starting pitcher for the Marlins in a moment. Right-hander Jansen Junk, the 29year-old from Federal Way, Washington. But looks like we’ve got some time to kill here before the Marlins take the field. Kelly Sacko, the vibes are immaculate in South Florida at the moment. And uh that clubhouse, they’re feeling it a bit. Heard Clayton McCulla talk in pregame today. He said, “Nobody really is willing to acknowledge it, but everybody’s aware that they’ve won eight in a row. Regardless, it’s good to be a Miami Marlin right now.” I’d say
I loved the quote off the top from Kyle Sters. I saw it on Marlin’s Instagram account and it just said that’s that’s two for two he is with the quotes. We’re going to have to add that to the board up here in the radio booth. But yeah, everything winning makes everything better, doesn’t it? But but the guys have really just come into their own and that’s what Clayton was talking about before the game. He said, you know, they’ve just really settled in. When you look at this group, it really is aside from a couple of starting pitchers and how Quantrol and Sandy Arc, it’s a group of young guys. It’s the youngest team in the league. It’s a bunch of rookies who are kind of like blind leading the blind in the nicest of ways. They’re growing through this game together. And Clayton was talking about this before the game, saying how they’ve just settled. They’ve settled into, okay, this is the big league life. This is the routine. This is what it takes to be up here. And now that they’ve settled and realized, hey, we can compete at this level, you’re seeing them at another comfort level. And we’re starting to see the fruits of that labor. So we’ve

three and two/3 innings eight hits and five earned runs the answer in that one might have been a soft yes it’s all about discipline around the perimeter of this it’s important to throw strikes but there’s a very big difference between good strikes and just leaving it right down the middle of the plate that’s one of the biggest difference you’ll see at this level and and AAA is at this level you’re not getting away with that
n there’s The difference between control and command finding that command and fish in the home white firing puck set to see him in the Navy uniform with Minnesota across the chest for the Twins at 6:41 p.m. That one missed outside and we’re underway. Game two of a threeame set between the Marlins and the Twins trying to match the franchise record with nine straight wins. One pitch swings and misses slider just off the outer black. One and one. Byron Buckton the best hitters in baseball this year. It was one of the hottest in the month of June. But final day of June, first day of July, not one fouled up and back at our level. That’s headed into the Spanish radio booth. And that is right in between Canana and Jose Napoulos. And Iki’s got that ball right next to me. Iky did not make the play, but he uh
he got it on the bounce. He did get it on the bounce. He’s taking a peek and we give him a salute. Next pitch misses outside and the count is two and two.
Hey, what a way to start it out.
No elbow guard for today, too. He’s not he’s not ready to go today. Does uh he does have a souvenir now. Two pitch runs high and tight at 93 in the count on Bucks. I was saying he was so hot in the month of June in OPS just under,00 mark in baseball in that his last two he’s over 8500 payoff hits foul off the back.
Three of those punch outs coming last night. The first two against just a red hot Edward Cabrera. He had six on the night. Two of them came from Buckton. Buckton and right on right match up ready for the payoff and that one the foul right side again. Buckton making Jones work a bit with an eight pitch on the plate here.
Yeah, he’s a veteran. He really knows how to work the count and he knows to look for what he can hit. It’s an incredible profile. A guy who’s a very big heavy poolside hitter to again that one. A ground ball through the middle and in for a base hit. Buckton hard around first, but he taps the brakes there as Meyers tosses it back in. And Byron Buckton has a leadoff single.
But that’s what’s so impressive. He got a slider on the outside corner and still managed to get out in head of that pitch and shoot it straight up the middle.
That was clearly off the bat. Somehow redirected the spin of that ball and right back where it was. Now Junk Trevor Varnick. Going into that at bat, the Twins were four for their last 57 cross backto back shut out losses. It was in recalled strike with fast pass knees. Delic one. Now they they did run into trick school on Sunday night baseball and then after the off day they ran into the best start of George Cabrera’s career. So I’ll cut him a little bit of slack. The one pitch is fouled back. The count’s down to two. All in all, this has been one of the roughest stretches for the Twins in recent memory that really started on the heels of 13game winning streak earlier this year.
Well, they got out to a really rough start. They were 0 for four to start the season. Lost 20 of their first 33 games before that 13game win streak. We know we know a big season can be a game of runs, but they’re never really as drastic as as what these guys have going on,
right? Dunk set at the belt. Puck first. A longer hole. O2 to Lik. This is outside. Lick. Former Oregon State Beaver playing his 81st game. 250 12 homers and 39 driven in. One, two. That was taken low. That kicked away from Ramirez a little bit and Buckton will push to second on a wild pitch. That
was a curve ball that bounced three feet in front of the plate.
That’s exactly what happened there. And Mer is not able to keep it in front of him. That’s with in scoring position. Double play out of order. Ground balls a part of junk. Not the overwhelming leader. Two two is foul right side. Only two twins reach second base in last night’s game. That was Lewis there with the double with one out in the third. Willie Castro go second base after singling in the seventh. Two from Junk. This is low and in backto back full counts to open Junk’s day. And that is on the heels of them not getting a guy in scoring position all night on Sunday school. Last two games they’ve had two guys cut second base. This being the third two. That one cut on and miss. Good slider. Would have been ball four, but it was too tantalizing for Lick to lay off though. Junk has a punch out and there’s one away with Buckton staying put at second base.
Yeah, they’re making him work. Another long at bat for Jansen. Junk, but comes out victorious in that one on the seventh pitch. Gets him swinging through a slider. That is now the third time that Lick has punched out in a row.
Castro and hitting second base. 266 on the year. First pitch called strike on the outer black. 266 on the season, but over his last 12y Castro hitting the Bucks 58 was allar. He’s got good eye black fashion. He has yellow line working between two thin rails of black on his cheeks. 01 is lined into center field on one hop. That’s in for a base hit. They’re going to hold Buckton knowing Meyers’s arm and he fires a rocket to the plate that likely would have caught Buckton, but there are men at the corners. That’s the second hit in three hitters against Jansson Junk from Minnesota.
Not only Meyer’s arm, but how hard Castro hit that baseball. 105 mph. Dne did a great job of reading that. He was charging all the way through. He yielded it on one hop. That’s how quickly that ball got to him.
And he did the uh the janitor throw where you leave your feet and then uh all of a sudden Yeah. You just end up on the outfield turf. So Dane got the entirety of his body into that throw. former pitcher letting it eat and out. Switch hitter in the cleanup man. Brooks Lee first pitch the junk and Lee hits one high in the air out to right center field. Sanchez and Myers converging. This is plenty deep enough to allow Buckton to score. Sanchez gloves it. He fires it into second base and Buckton trots in from third. That is a sacrifice fly for Brooks Lee. It is out number two, but it’s one- nothing Minnesota in the top of the first. Yeah, Brooks Lee debuted last season really having a nice breakout season here in 2025. He got a slider that Jansen left a little too high in the zone and did exactly what you need to do in that situation. Just get that ball deep enough to score your teammate at third.
Carlos Korea the five hitting shorts stop with Castro remaining at first base. Throw the check on Castro. He’s inside safely. That was the first run of the game which is brought to you by ADT, official security partner of the Miami Marlins. Make your home smart and safe with ADT and Google Nest products. That’s security from ADT in the intelligence Google for a home with no worries. Castro on the move. That pitch misses outside and Ramirez pockets the throw. Colen base for Willie Castro. Go to adt.com/marlins or call 1800 750647. Google Nazer trademark fugle Billy Castro his sixth stolen base on the year with seven attempts one takes the called strike had a slider on the lower outside 21 the count two men gone runner at second one nothing Minnesota Junk already at 20 pitches in the first inning on one that one cut on a miss sweeper got bare at a chase and that Yeah, swing and miss from Carlos Gray. One and two.
He’s having a bit of a down year offensively. Now, granted, for anyone else in the league, they’d say, “Okay, you know, I’ll take it.” Hitting 256, but Freya just has set the bar so high for himself. One, two, to him. That one cut on and miss. Tight turning slider and Koreah swung right through it. So Junk has two punch outs in the inning, but Minnesota strikes first on a sacrifice fly from Brooks Lee.

Happy Taste is good. Only at participating locations. That was it.
That’s amazing. Great call. We’re in the bottom of the first inning. It’s one- nothing Minnesota and Simeon Woods Richardson is on the hill. That was the audio of Iki Canana calling a a ball into the Marlin Spanish radio booth. That was a great call from
Iota. That’s really good.
That was a great impersonation. I thought that they were playing it again.
First misses outside to Xavier Edwards, but that ball, it was a foul ball from Byron Buckton and it went flying into the radio booth just to our right. I mean, it was 2 feet away from me as X hits one high in the air down the left field line and fouls out of play. But down is one and one. It bounced right in between and Jos Napoulos sitting I don’t know maybe 5t away from him and I picked it up and uh took it in strike. Good for him. Simeon Woods Richardson, former second round pick of the Mets, fires a slider that’s fouled away by 22. He said he’s going to keep the ball and he’s going to get it autographed. Did he just sign it? I think he might have signed it.
There’s already a signature on the foul ball. Got it autographed by the team. Maybe by Right. Hey, Buckston. Here. I I autographed it. Now you add
to slap foul again by only one I think has ever come back here. I think it was a Brian de la Cruz foul ball a couple years ago, right? Look at me. Yes,
I remember things. I don’t think we get to see it anymore. Ball of two strikes. Edwards slashes one into left field. That’s hanging up for Harrison Bader to make a catch. And there’s one away in the bottom of the first and it’s one- nothing Minnesota. Simeon Woods Richardson, the 24y old from Sugarland, Texas, was part of two big trips. He was part of the Marcus Strowman deal that sent him from Toronto to New York. So Woods Richardson went from the Mets to the Blue Jays. Couple years later at the deadline, he was part of the Jose Bio. Sent him from Minnesota to Toronto. So Woods Richardson ended up in spun in a good curveball against Jesus Sanchez. Called strike. Simeon Woods Richardson in his career. He made 41 starts. Got a 442 career this year. 58 in the third innings and a 463 RA. Three and four. His last three starts has been better. Previous two, not so much. Woods Richardson. There’s the 01 fast ball though away one and one. And Woods Richardson last three starts, 16 innings, three earned runs, a 169. Before that, back-to-back starts allowing six runs. One shot on a miss. Good fast ball top at 95 ball strikes on Sanchez.
Then he throws that four team fast around 45% of the time. Mixes in that slider in the curve event. Occasionally you see the change up in the split two. It’s a Tomahawks one down the left field line. Long run for Bader. He’s on the move. He loses the cap. He lets the lettuce fly and he makes the catch near foul round number two. back put outs by Harrison Vader. That is a very good center fielder that just happens to be playing left right now because there’s a better one in center for the Twins in Buckton. But it was Richardson has two quick outs and now he sees Otto Lopez Lopez’s 10ame hit streak came to an end last night when he was intentionally walked. Boo.
Boo.
First pitch to Otto misses side for ball one.
Walked in the eighth and that’s when Nick Forez took it personally. Okay, you’re going to walk him. No problem. But that little pinch hit single. No pitch. Otto pops it up right side. Foul ground could be playable. Cody Clemens near the padded wall reaching over and that one hits the netting at top padded wall for a foul ball. It’s one and one. Yeah, but Otto still has a 13 game on base streak. alive and well. Intentional walks can help with that. We talked about it in real time. Stinks that he saw the 10ame hitting streak end where it did, but respect paid to him on this hot stretch. That was cool to see. One curve ball loaded away. Two balls.
I didn’t get a chance to chat with him today, but I’d be curious to know how many times in his career, in his life, he’s ever been intentionally walked. One pitch. with that miss slider chin two and two I would think not much it’s not like he’s a big guy by
right he does have pop we’ve seen it was telling us he goes hey you know I surprised some people I can lift away base is empty 2-2 a called third strike jumps up out of frustration it was the slider might have been off the lower outside corner but as for

Spatial awareness from the ever nimble Eric Wagman.
I was so distracted by Steven’s W he just threw up that I put a W on my scorebook instead of a P. I told him I’m going to do that for hits, but not for his defensive skills. And that’s what threw me off.
W’s for Wags.
W for Wags.

Oh boy. four wins above replacement for one pitch. That one missed outside. A pitch removed from a curveball off the outer black being granted a strike. That one firmly within the strike zone. A slider, but Junk did not get the call. So, all’s well ends well, I guess. 1-1 in there for a called strike. One and two. Fast ball on outside. Clemens and the son of Roger was acquired by Minnesota from Philadelphia earlier this year. Was playing so sparingly with the Phillies. He was a fan favorite as a Philly. I think everybody liked the spark that he provided, but at the end of the day, he’s probably worth a little bit more playing time than that. Minnesota took that chance. They haven’t really looked back. One, two. Lemon swings and misses up top of the fast ball. Dancing junk. Quick work in a one two three second through an inning and a half. It’s one nothing.

In the bottom of the second inning, it’s one- nothing Minnesota after a sacrifice fly in the top of the first and Brooks Lee play by one to Augustine. And this is side a ball a strike defense real quick for Minnesota. Got Clemens at first, Castro at second, Kareah at shortly at third. Up to right, Bader Buck Lick and Jeffers doing the catching for Richardson who fires the one blow it away. two balls in front. There’s a unique phenomenon that occurs at home park for the evening game two-1 pitch on a check swing but Augustine clearly went around on a fast ball of that high now two and two during the national anthem every game the NCL home run harbor our friends we can cruise line goes off during the anthem and that creates this layer of smoke that kind of sits sprays one down the right field line that’s hunting the line. It is a foul ball. A couple feet to the right of the right field jock. Count down count is two and two. But after the NCL home run harbor goes off and the pyrochnics are deployed during the anthem with the roof closed, the smoke from that just hangs around and with the lights and the twilight from outside.
Two pitch going in on Augustine’s hand. Sprays one at a Twins dugout. Thankfully that avoided everything. Now he’s two and two on that ground ball foul ball. But that layer of smoke just hangs out in line with the upper level seating here at Lone Depot Park. You see that smoke just streaking through the air. It is a bizarre phenomenon. And if you find yourself at Lone Depot Park, take a peek at it. Two foul tip held on to by the catcher Jeff. 95 up top. Care swings and tips it. Second strike out for Woods Richardson. There’s one away. the bottom of the second and gets him on a force team up in the zone. Second strike out of the night for Woods Richardson brings up Kyle Sters who had the big home run last night. He’s had four across this eightgame win streak. And a great quote pitch curveball at the top of the zone in there for a called strike. You don’t have to win eight in a row, just have to win one in a row. That’s Stanford for you.
One pitch outside one and one.
Stephen, what’s our other quote from St. You don’t rise to the occasion. Sink to the level of your training. It’s a little bit more profound. One is 94 track one and two.
But how he delivered this one was fantastic. And if you haven’t already gone on the Marlins Instagram account, it was one of their posts. They’re just Julian and all of them there in creative do a wonderful job just capturing the guys as they’re, you know, going about their business. They’re all coming into the into the clubhouse and they’re asking them about the game, about the big win. And that’s when Kyle dropped that one and he goes, “Oh, you just need we win one in a row.” One, two pitch. He drills that one out to right in deep. Lick at the track. He’s looking up and it’s gone. Number five on the winning streak. and number 15 on the year. You can’t stop this guy right now. Kyle Sters ties this game at a run a piece with a solo shot. There’s hot and then there’s whatever this guy’s doing over the last week and a half. Absolutely incredible. gets the slider in on his hands yet again. Backto back games with a home run.
Football misses inside to Eric Wagman. One and0.
He’s done that once this season, a second time here tonight. One pitch valip held on to by catcher Jeffers and Wagman is even count one and one now. Kyle Sters again over the course of this eightgame winning streak plus Wagman takes that one low two and one curve ball. Sters extends the hitting streak to nine games. He was hitting 393 across this eightgame winning streak with four homers and 10 RBI. They’ll make it five nine two-1 missed inside a fast ball. Got three and one on Wag. And this too coming off the heels of not hitting a home run in 30 games. He went in that slump after hitting 3-1 pitch. That one hit high in the air. Shared away center. No problem for P. And there are two men gone. Kyle Sters had gone into a bit of a slump in California. He had put up a fabulous game where he had his second multi home run game of the season. And after that or third, that is multi home run game of the season. That was against the Chicago Cubs in Chicago. And really after that, everything went quiet for him. Liam Hicks the batter. First pitch from Simeon with Richardson just blowing in for ball one. This guy was dormant. He was like a sleeping volcano for about a month or so and then Sters found the power stroke again. He’s been unstoppable since the spinning breaking ball on the outer black called strike one and one.
He now has four home runs in six games. Five home runs across this win streak. He’s accounted for basically all of the power. The Marlins have four other home runs across the rest of the team in this win streak, but Kyle has five of them. 1-1 taking upstairs. Two balls in the strike. 54th game. We’re tied at one in the bottom of the second between the Marlins Quinn. Again, we were talking about it before first pitch. You know, there have been a whole bunch of different characters that have had their fingerprints on this winning stret Lopez has played a factor pretty much every Kyle Sters has played a factor in literally every game on this record. 3-1 pitch and misses outside ball four to out walk by Hicks covering Conor Norby the ditch. Augustine Ramirez had his fingerprints on most of these wins across this team. But it’s true. You know, it’s those three guys that it really feels like the Marlins fan base is looking at right now saying you’re here like you’re you’re kind of embodying what Marlins baseball is about right now. Scour and Augustine and Otto. You got to give several people a lot of credit when it comes to to Kyle Scout. Number one, Kyle. He put in a ton of work. Torby curve ball missing low ball one and but also Peter Bendix and his team because when they made the trade Kyle struggled he struggled when he came over here he was really especially with that basketball up in the in the zone and they said you know what you’re to play day in and day out and we’re to figure out together whether or not you can do this
pitch that one a chopping ground ball left side the third baseman Lee has it fires across the diamond that is in time to get Dorby and that ends the inning. We will continue that conversation in the top of the third. But we’re through two after Sters’s homer tied at one on the Marlins. Out of here. He is a fire. Change up game night with baseball’s biggest game changer. MLB Big Innings presented by Best Western every night all season long on MLB.TV. Columbia, Kevin Sacko, Steven Stum here with you. We’re in the top of the third inning. We’re tied at one after Kyle Sters’s homer. Harrison Bader, the nineman, and the left fielder, digs in to see Jansen jump, and the first pitch of third is whacked into shallow right center field. That might not even leave the infield dirt. Second baseman X is there on a step into the outfield turf. He makes the catch. One pitch and one out.
Junk has done a really nice job of settling down here as we enter the third inning. He’s retired the last five hitters that he’s seen. And after Buckston and Lick and even Castro just really working good at bats against Junk, he’s been doing a really nice job here facing the middle and the bottom of the order of getting them to swing and get out early. Now junk seeing Byron Puckstead pitch misses low a curve ball one during the bottom of the second you started talking about Kyle Sters and you were shining a light on Kyle putting in the work right to become this everyday very good major league baseball player pitch that one misses up top two and0 on you also Kelly shouted out Peter Bendix and his staff for identifying a guy like Sters and Dorby in that Trevor Rocky field this guy has blossomed and it has is so much fun to watch how he’s gone after this two pitch is dribbled foul by Buck two and one the other crew that I really want to shout out here there’s something about the way Pedro Guerrero and Derek Shman
agreed
go about working with these hitters that is clearly getting through and it’s been awesome to watch
that’s a great point
one pitch is hammered high in the air straightaway centerers is back Dane’s got room on the track he makes the catch that was very deep but playable for Dane. And that is the second out from the track flyyou from Psy. It seems like there are guys that each of these new pitching crews and these hitting crews have really gotten through to and we just talked about Edward Cabrera. Like it’s clear what Daniel Moscius alone and the rest of the pitching department here with the Marlins has done has gotten through to Cab. Same with Jansson Junk. Ster is clearly a guy that benefited from these guys. Got a bouncy ball called foul right side.
It’s so interesting because there can be 10 different people trying to tell you the same exact message, but only it it only clicked with that one person who maybe rephrases it, approaches it a little bit differently. So I guarantee you everyone’s everyone told Edward Cabrera, “Throw strikes, your stuff is nasty.” But there’s something about the way that this group has approached it that clicked for him.
One pitch. Lick takes a called strike. Slider on the back door was on the outside corner and the count’s nothing to two.
And too just something to say about the way that they went about preparing for the season, right? It sounds exhausting honestly just hearing it just challenging them at every turn.
But two pitch missing out. But when you train as difficult as that maybe you know game comes a little bit easier just a little bit easier. Two pitches outside.
We were watching these guys I hit in particular just run the gamut spring training at Jupiter I and you know we talked to them
they said the hardest rep they had that day was not in a game too. This is outside and the count runs full. And for 29 other organizations, I can near promise you the hardest rep that guy will have over the course of a given day is when they see a pitcher in a game set. For the Marlins, they just made sure that wasn’t really the case. 3-2. Little rip down the right field line. That is just foul. That was a shot ticketed to the corner. Sanchez picks it up, turns, and uh looks like he’s got to make a throw. Even though that was clearly about 3 ft right of the right field chalk, the count remains full.
Yeah, for Lick, you know, he’s going to be kicking himself there a little bit out in front of a slider that was center cut. That was a good pitch to hit for Lick. Junk working off first base side of the rubber. Try to put away Lick. 3-2 again. That one is a cold third strike. Perfect heater. Lower outside black. Jung has a punch out to end each of his

And then Kyle Sters blasted his 15th homer of the year and his fifth over the course of this winning streak. tie this thing last inning. Now it’s a nine man Dane Meyers opening the third against Simeon Woods Richardson and Dane Corkcrews one foul the first base dugout nothing and one Dane a good example of somebody who didn’t have a great road trip but still found ways to impact winning one pitch to Meyers that would have called strike and kneeh high pass ball nothing two this guy had five stolen bases over the weekend in Arizona four of them the last nine innings of that road trip he was hitting just 143 but two pitch this is low away
he collected just the three hits but found a way on base collected three walks five stolen bases I mean it was incredibly gutsy of him too still in third a very risky proposition there in game two but pretty much single-handedly two pitch that one hit well out to left field but Harrison Bader underneath. He circles and he makes the catch shading a little bit to his right for number one. Dame almost single-handedly forced extra innings in that second game in Arizona. So that just a good example of ways that you can still impact the game. You still impact winning even if you’re going through it, which is going to happen over the course of 162. you’re going to struggle, but try to get on base and when you do and you got that tool set, you got that speed, put yourself in scoring position.
Take last night for example, first pitch to Xavier Edwards is a fast ball in there for thre one. Connor Norby was Steven’s postgame interview last night and know you heard that on Marlins on deck. You were tuned in earlier today. Conor Norby had a hitless day, but he had two great plays defensively. That was a winning game for Conor Morton.
Absolutely. And hit the ball hard, too. His first ground out 103 miles per hour to second base. So, he’s he’s right there. He’s coming along. He’s starting to see pitches a lot better. Starting to be more patient at the plate. Something that he’s always struggled with finding the balance of that aggression and being patient. One to X. A good fast ball. Chest flow. Two balls in.
Yeah. And he was really busy over there. Four put outs. Five put outs last night. Six. Two-1. Oh, misses. Up and out. Three balls to strike.
Lots of fives.
Yeah. Lots of fives on my score last night. 53. 53. P3. P. No. P5.
P5.
P5. P3 with Wagaman. W3 tonight. 3-1 pitch. Edwards takes outside. Ball four, one out, one pursuit to we’re tied at one in the bottom of the third. Marlins in the home whites. Minnesota with the road navy between Minnesota in white font across the chest. White numbers on the back and red lettering top the numbers. And Kelly, there’s a whole bunch of letters on the back of Simeon Woods Richardson’s jersey. It wraps the 24 on the back of his jersey almost entirely. I see Crow Armstrong do that on the back of the four in Chicago. Woods Richardson a little bit nicely.
Yeah, absolutely. He debuted back in October of 2022. And when he did, he became the holder of the longest last name to appear in the majors. So that’s 15 letters, not counting a hyphen. Now that beat former Marlin Jared Salsa Lamakia for those of you who might remember, however, that record, it didn’t even last a year. One pitch to Isu Sanchez is sprayed foul left side. Not a play. Now the following year, Christian Incarnation Strand debuted the following July. But Woods Richardson still part of a very unique record outside of his own last name 2023. His opponent on the mound for the Braves, fellow rookie Spencer Schwen. Two pitch that one lying down the left field line. That twisting foul in the seats again two. The two combined for the longest ever last names by two opposing starters. So 28 letters total, beating the previous tie of 25. What I’m telling you, you have lots of lots of last names. Don’t you love that baseball track for these kind of things?
It’s amazing. O2 pitch misses upstairs. And listen, I don’t know if TV is doing the same thing right now, but our monitor feed just showed a closeup on the back of Woods Richardson’s jersey. So there is a chance they’re talking about the exact same thing.
Are we on the same page yet again? We were on Cody’s name.
It’s just a a feel for the game.
Text Kyle Cos respond over to check on X. He’s back in standing up. Runner at first. One gone. The bottom of the third. We’re tied at one. And Woods Richardson is about to fire his 50th pitch of the night. Woods Richardson and Schwelenbot. Two guys that push the limits of my scorebook when I write in. Starting pitchers one, two. That one hit high in the air again out to left. That one going to be playable. Long run in for Bader. A step of foul ground. He makes the catch and X has to stay at first base for our two away in the bottom of the third.
And Bader’s got to get a new lid here. Keeps losing keeps losing the cap every time he takes off.
With with how much attention he pays to his hair and how luscious the locks are, I feel like it’s entirely intentional. He wants the world to see it.
You know who’s another one is Dane Meyers. Every time he steals the bag, that helmet goes flying.
Helmet’s
helmet’s gone. Such a powerful run. See the football player in him. Here to Otto Lopez from Woods Richardson on the way. Fouled back. Nothing one. You can see like Dane does look different when he runs. Dane looks a lot like Byron Buck when those two really get off and going with a really long stride. They lock. Speaking of flying, it’s been a little surprising to see Xavier Edwards not be off and moving as much this year as maybe we were anticipating. One pitch roll foul third base side meth two. X has stayed put at first base here. He’s sitting on 14 stolen base. This is coming into the season where he said his goal was 60.
Yeah. And looking at what he did last year too, you would think, oh, okay. Like, he really wasn’t healthy to start the season last year and he was still able to put up 30 52 stolen bases. So, you’re thinking, okay, over the course of 70 games, we’ve got 52 stolen bases. All right, 60 should be no big deal, right? Two to Otto Lopez on the way. X not going. Otto hits one in the air down the right field line. Lick coming in. Lick still coming. That is a foul ball.
Nice corrected there. 31 stolen bases. Mike 52 sounds a little high for me here. Hold on. What numbers am I looking at? 31 stolen bases. But you’re thinking, okay, you only had 70 games.
All right, you’re going to double the game hopefully, God willing, healthy, double the amount of games played. Should be able to double amount of stolen bases, but not the case so far as we enter July. 16 was a fair goal coming into this one, but
unfortunately looks like that’s
is still trending for about 30. You know what I remember from that 2003 season? Uh Juan Pierre was the stolen base leader that year. Otto that one popped up on the infield maybe right behind the plate but is in foul ground. The catcher Jeffers calling for it. He makes the catch right next to Minnesota’s on deck circle. That ends the inning for Juan Pierre. When we come back, we go to the fourth side of

MLB Big Inning presented by Best Western. Every night all season long on MLB.TV. TV. MLB Kelly Sack and Steven Strong. I’m Jack Mullen. dancing Junk back out there for the fourth inning and Junk will see Willie Castro singled and stole the base first. We were talking Juan Pierre and you mentioned the stolen base king in Major League Baseball in 2003 fires the first pitch and Castro swings and misses a big curveball shoot. He stole 65 bases in that 2003 World Series championship season. And I was a kid growing up here in Miami, big Marlins fan. And I remember cutting this awesome, awesome photo out from a magazine. Had this hung up in my room as a kid and it was Juan Pierre. He’s sitting in a living room setting or 01 pitch, pardon. That’s sprayed down the right field line. That is in. That is a fair ball and it’s rolling into the corner. Castro sheds the helmet. He’s around second. He stops right there. A relay throw coming in likely would have gotten him at third. But Willie Castro with a two for two day. He has a leadoff double down the right field line to begin the fourth.
He also has Jan’s conjunct number of the three hits that he has given up across these four innings. Two of them have come to Castro after that. He had gone on to retire. The next eight batters that he saw, but Castro getting the best of him here. His 13th double of the season. and gets that slider in on his hands and able to just sneak it down the right field line. Now it’s Brooks lead switch hitter on the left side against the right played the only run of the game for Minnesota to this point fly but he went around on a check swing basketball upstairs nothing in one
so finish that note on Juan Pierre so he’s sitting in a living room type setting sitting on the couch watching TV he’s got his arm his right arm around the World Series trophy which sitting next to him and scattered around the room 65 bases got his feet up on three bases on the coffee table to one pitch. A change up just off the plate blowing away. Now it’s one and one.
Or bases to his left on the couch. His face is scattered across this like living room setting. He’s just in there watching Major League Baseball on television with his arm wrapped around that World Series trophy. I thought it was just a brilliantly done.
That’s the good stuff. One-1 rolled on the ground right side. That is through the right side of the infield for a base hit. They are not sending Castro. Sanchez’s throw coming to the plate was up the third base line a little bit, but the third base coach Tommy Watkins from Minnesota did hold Castro at third. That’s backto-back knocks against Junk to open the fourth. Runners at the corners for Carlos Korea. A hot roller from Roy from Brooks Lee 99 miles an hour off. You see Royce Lewis, both those guys top prospects and first round pick to Minnesota. There were shorts stops at time of selection, but Lee is playing second, playing third. Lewis playing third is healthy because of this guy. Short stop Kareah first pitch. He rolls one. That is past the dive of the short stop. Otto Lopez into left for a base hit. Castro comes in to score. That three straight knocks to open the fourth. It’s 2-1 Minnesota in this fourth inning.
Carlos Perea getting way out in front of a sweeper that was on the outside corner. That pitch just at 81 miles per hour, but he’s able to get that just past the diving. Otto Lopez with RBI number 29 on the year. Now Junk seeing Matt Walner got the scoreboard in a hurry. Lot of power. First pitch up and out for ball one.
Yeah, he’s having a bit of a down year offensively, but still the seven home runs. dealt with that left hamstring strain back on April 17th. But talking to Marlin, assistant hitting coach pitch in for strike fast ball to
Derek Schman said he he he can’t say enough good things about Walner. He said he plays the game really well and he’s got some real power.
He’s listed at 64 220. Uh those might be underelling him. 111 a foul tip held on to by the catcher Ramirez one and two Walder okay 64 I’m not sure he looks 66 67 this is a gargantuan human being you understand why he gets into some of the mammoth power that he does I know Minnesota tried their luck on Joey Gallow experiment a couple years ago this guy does feel a little gallow but he’s going to strike out cross walks man
he will make it up with the power though. One, two from Junk. Walner pops one in the air down the left field line, but it’s just a foul sitting bolt out of play.
That’s a little give and take that you see across Major League Baseball. If you can get into one, that leash for the swing and miss is going to be a little bit longer than if you’re just gap to gap type of hit.
It’s a sliding skip, right? Exactly.
What kind of strikeout rate are you willing to pallet? The homers are there. One, two. This is low. Two and two. You know, with a guy that is basketball oriented, minimal power, you’re not going to stomach a high strikeout number if he’s not getting the ball out of the ballpark. Sacrifice punch outs for homers. Hope to keep it where it is. They trail 2-1 in the fourth. Two on, nobody gone. Two-2. Baller with a foul tip. That’s held on to by Augustine. Junk went right after him. 95 right down Broadway and Walner swung underneath it. There’s one away on the strike out for Jansen Junk. Yeah, Walner will be kicking himself there. That fast ball was felt high right down the center of plate. Junk is seeing Ryan Jeff the catcher. First pitchers rolls over to third. Could be two. Nor Dorby on to second for one. On to first in all the time in the world. 543 on the double play. Norby to X to Wagaman. And they got Jeff the big hits. All the great brats. You got to be kidding me. And all the swagger. Relive the day’s biggest plays all in one lightning fast hour. Space show. You better believe it.

He sets his feet on the outfield grass and fires a one hop bullseye over to first base to get Augustine. That’s a nice play by Brooks Lee at the hot corner for Minnesota. There’s one away in the bottom of the board.
Yeah, that was uh deep in the hole there. The way that he was able to just get that girl crossing and and give Clemens a nice clean hop. That was a job well done. But just someone asked about what they put on the hot dogs. Okay. I didn’t know that this was a thing. Do people really Kyle Sters? He popped that one. Foul out of play left side. Have an issue with people who put ketchup on hot dogs. Is that really like a Cardinal?
Who gives you issue for that? Someone gave me an issue.
Not on this program.
No. Ketchup on hot dogs. I’m like, “Yeah.” Oh, one pitch again. Pops a foul left side out of play.

Two out.
Let me put something in my book first. There you go.
And Wagman does not look up again. I will say this. I I went to Iceland a few years ago and everyone, “Oh, this is a great foodie city, foodie country. You got to try the hot dog.” I’m like, “I’m from America. I I really don’t need to try a hot dog in Iceland.” Let me tell you, we do them wrong. Iceland does it right. Oh my goodness. Liam Hicks good spinning curveball in for strike one.
I’ve never had a better hot dog. They use lamb over there. And they put like they they’ve got this like a onion type sweet mustard concoction that they put on the bun. So they don’t put their toppings on top, they put on the bottom so you don’t spill.
For one bit just cut on and miss nothing too. That sounds good.
And it is. It’s incredible.
It sounds like they’re ahead of the eight-ball because in America I have no idea what kind of meat is in a hot dog.
It’s probably best that you don’t know.
And at least I know that it’s lamb. So like
lamb. Yeah, it’s like beat the freeze. Sounds like Iceland’s the freeze.
Do you like the woman who beat the freeze?
Yes.
Oh my gosh. She crushed it.
I saw that. Believe she’s an officer. Was a former track star.
Yeah.
She had the track run. Oh my goodness.

I didn’t know there were teams in Pokemon Go, but uh teams. Yeah, there are teams and there are colors associated. The blue team is team mystic.
Okay.
Uh and I have the details on the team.
Yep. Please, please refresh my memory.
Yeah, the red team is team valor and the yellow team is team in one one. That one rolled past the uh dive of the backhand and the second baseman Edwards who is Wagman that went stretching out the backhand and Edwards went diving to the forehand, but that kind of pinalled between the two of them and dribbled into right field. That is a leadoff single for Clemens here to open top of fifth. Clemens aboard for Harrison Vader who popped out second. But team Mystic, the blue team, known for their calm and collected approach, led by Blanch. Team Valor, the red team, is known for their passion and fighting spirit, led by Candela. And Team Instinct, the yellow team, is known for their reliance on intuition and their leader Spark just upstairs for ball one to pay. Want to see which jersey pitcher slashes one out to center field. Pretty deep, but Dane Myers has room shy of the warning track. He sets up shot, makes the catch, and that is out number one, pushing Clemens back to first base. I haven’t made note of it in the on deck circle, but Harrison Bader’s warm-up tool got some publicity last week on social media. the blue water. People are calling it the chug jug. It looks like something on a on Fortnite.
It It’s It’s very interesting. I mean, it’s got the water in there. It’s flushing along.
The whole idea is it’s a bat. It’s kind of half filled with water. First pitch to Byron Buckton here. That one popped up and foul right side. See nothing.
And it’s see-through. You can see this water
slushing around it.
Yeah. And the whole idea, it’s a lot like pitcher bat. I’ll explain that in a moment. But during a swing, Bader will feel kind of the weight transfer of the water to feel the pressure moving from the handle to the edge of the bat throughout the course of the swing. It’s this whole idea of pushing energy through the bat on the swing. One is in trick up two. It’s a lot like the backpack with the big water jug on the back of pitchers. And you might have seen Paul from Pittsburgh use that. The whole idea is you feel this water swishing around and you just work with the power of the water as it moves and your weight is supposed to shift with that two pitch is lined into right center field. Sanchez got a good break. He made the catch and he pump fakes firing it back in. Clemens dives into first base. There are two men going. Excuse my laugh. That was funny the way Sanchez completely faked the throw to first and then kind of turned over his shoulder. You do a somersault or something.
Look like a little ballerina move. U but yeah, back to the bats. I feel like uh bats have been getting a lot of attention this obviously to start the season with the torpedo bats courtesy of our very own Aaron Lenhard. That hype died down a little bit.
Pitch to Trevor Lick has spun in for a called strike. I think once people realized that the Yankees weren’t cheating and that it was just an entirely legal approach to hitting, it’s like, “Oh, all right. Everybody can use this. That works.
We’re good. This is the norm now. I think I saw Liam Hicks swinging a new torpedo bat today. One pitch. Trevor Lick pops that one up to shallow left field. Sters coming on. Still coming. And the third baseman Norby is out. He makes the catch in medium depth left field to end the inning. Lead off single, but jump strands him at first. We’re halfway home. Two-1 Twins on the

I sit underneath basically. Really? Two pitch. Meyers powers out to right field. That’s hanging up though for Trevor Lick who’s underneath to make catch. And there are two men going the bottom.
The reporters used to sit on the platform. And I hated it to be honest because it was just it was a hot zone for foul balls. And I used I’m like I’m bringing my glove because if a ball comes near me anywhere near our face, I’m going to catch it. Did you see the video of Melanie Newman?
Yeah, she fell right off her. I texted her immediately after.

Um a less scary moment, but could have very been scary moment was years ago. Our very own Craig Manini was uh standing up there.
One pitch. X squares to Butt. He gets one down. It’s a beauty down the third base line. It is rolling. Foul. Xavier Edwards sent a perfect bunt down the third base line. Brooks Lee was just letting it roll in hopes that it would flip the side of the infield turf and it did just that. X was staring a bunt single right in the eyes, but then it just veered left. Sundays at 11:30 Eastern. baseball on the Mon Marlins radio network. Bottom of the sixth inning and Simeon Woods Richardson is done. We’ve got a call to the bullpen on the Twin side. Brock Stewart is into the ball game. 33-year-old from Normal, Illinois to a junior college in that area. Then let’s take Illinois State University. Dodgers took him in the sixth round in 2014. He was with the Dodgers through the 2019 season. He made his way to Minnesota ahead of the 2023 campaign. Brock Stewart this year been a really good 24 innings had a 2.63 erra two homers and 34 and walked eight. Stewart during the back half of this ball game. This is upstairs with 95 to open the bottom of the sixth against Jesus Sanchez. And it’ll be the bullpen the rest of the way for both teams as we just saw Jansen Junk getting high fives and hugs. Simpson the lefty and Crochet the righty warming in the Marlins full time.
The guys Jansen Junk just went a career long six innings. A season high seven punch out for Jansen Junk as well. What a pitch when this is up and out. two and 0 behind Jesus Sanchez who’s flat out to left twice for the final line on Woods Richardson. We’ll give you after this 2 from Stewart which is on the way. And that one ripped out to right field and deep. Lick is back. He’s looking up. He’s going to play that off the wall. It slams off the padded wall. He fires into second base, but it’s a little bit offline and Jesus Sanchez in with a head first dive. That’s a leadoff double here to begin the bottom of the sixth. 10th double on the year for Jesus Sanchez with a runner in scoring position. That brings up Otto Lopez. Yeah, a job well done by Jesus Sanchez. Just missed a homer by a mere couple feet. Hits the top of that right field wall that puts himself in scoring position and he is a tying run. Lopez steps up to the plate against short.
Has been premier RBI man for the Marlins over the course of this winning streak. In the squad on the right side, ready for the first pitch from Brock Stewart. That one is in for a called strike. 96 off the inside block. Nothing and one. Bottom line on Simeon Woods Richardson. Five innings of two hit one-run ball. He walked two, punched out three. The only run came on the solo shot from Sters in the second. Wanda Otto and taken at the knees. A called strike on a sweeper. Nothing in two. Stewart digs his foot into the first base side of the rubber. He mentioned Sanchez. The possible tying run in scoring position for two to Lopez. That one lined into right field. That might be hanging up for Lick. It is. He makes the grab off his left shoulder and that sends Sanchez headed back to second base. That’s tough. Otto hit that one well. Yeah, he hit that nearly 100 miles per hour. Got a fast ball on the outside part of the plate. Hit it a little too hard. One of those situations. Oh, it’s Augustine Ramirez who struck out and bounced out to third. Right on right match up. Stewart fires the first pitch is in for a called strike. A sinker right over the heart of the plate. Nothing and one. Augustine hit a big piece of this stretch. Yeah, the 01 to him. This is low and away. Yeah, he had a hot road trip. Fllected 11 hits. Hit 440, four doubles, a triple, his first career triple. That is a home run and six RBI. Sanchez at second, the 1-1. Ramirez spins low sweep for two balls and a strike. Augustine started his career obviously so hot and so well documented, right?
And then you hit the skids a little bit. It seemed like opposing pitchers had a plan of attack. It was breaking balls blown away if they were right-handed. 2-1 is a sinker off the outside edge. Three balls in a strike on Augustine, but Ramirez has made the adjustment and gotten in that hot stretch. Again, the the arc of Ramirez and the arc of Kyle Sters have actually been pretty darn similar.
It’s all about keeping those slumps, which you’re going to have short. 3-1. Augustine hits the ball out to left straight on for Bader. Harrison Bader underneath. He makes the grab and Sanchez back to second or two away in the bottom of the sixth. And I think that’s another thing that this coaching staff has done a really good job of is just relaying the information to their players of hey listen you’re in Kyle Sters’s case for instance who sets up the box now coming into this season everyone was taking the information they had from Ster second half of the year that hey he can’t hit that fast ball up in the zone. Kyle worked at that. He started crushing that early. So they reacted and said, “All right, let’s go.” Breaking balls away. Pitch Sters rips that one up the gut and through that hit the umpire Emil Himenez. Jesus Sanchez around second. He comes in to score, but Jimenez is saying, “Hold on.
Hold on.” That hit him on the leg and that will in all likelihood put Sanchez back on base. That will not be an RBI single. That kicked off Emil Himenez and he waved that ball dead immediately and Clayton McCulla scratching his head chatting with the crew chief James Hoy. Sanchez will go back to second. Marlin’s bench coach Carson Vitali really getting into it. Man,
that’s a bad break.
Clayton frustrated, but there’s nothing he can do about that. That ball hit Emil Himenez
112 miles hour. So, number one, ouch.
Yes.
Number two, that got him. So, it is a dead ball. Sters aboard at first on the single, but that negates the run. Jesus Sanchez, instead of scoring from second on the two out single to tie the game at two, is now standing at second base. And it’s still 2-1 Minnesota. That is such a tough break. No chance anyone was getting there either.
No, I’ve never seen this. in three seasons here. I mean, I know it’s kind of crazy the coincidence, but that’s kind of wild.
Yeah,
that’s a bad break. I mean, he crushed that ball 112 miles per hour right up the middle. The only guy that could get to that was Emil Himenez. He got to it with his foot.
Yeah, Castro was going to get to that baseball. So again, umpire’s interference will negate Jesus Sanchez advancing on the base pad. So he is right back at second base. Sters aboard on that single and that brings up Eric Wagaman. This is a ball don’t lie scenario. First pitch, Wags takes a called strike. 96 right over the heart of the plate. 2-1 Minnesota. And if the Marlins do see this winning streak snap today, we’re going to point to this moment. 01. That one lined down the right field line. That is fouled off the netting. Count quickly. Nothing two on Wags. Brock Stewart is not afraid of Wagaman. He is offered two center cut heaters. He’s ahead in the count. No balls and two strikes. stands tall on the right side ready for the 02. Stewart comes home with it and Wagman swings and misses. 97 up top. A three pitch punch out and the booze rain down rightfully so. Here at Lone Gall Park, umpires interference takes a run off the board. We’re through six. It’s 2-1 Minnesota. take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager has the following.
I really don’t know what to say. I’m just uh so happy I gave something. These people cheer. We all did. I mean, it was a great game. Both teams played incredible. It was a great game.

Marlins got a really tough break there. Umpires interference on a single up the gut from Kyle Sters. It would have played Jesus Sanchez from second to tie the game at two last half inning. Instead, it clipped off Emil Himenez’s foot. Second base umpire that kept Sanchez at second. Eric Wagman struck out on three pitches in the threat. The Marlin still down by one. Simpson fires the first pitch. He misses inside for ball one. Instead of Matt Walner, it’s a pinch hitter. Royce Lewis is doing the pinch hitting for Walner. Lewis will assume the theatral lefty Simpson fires the 10 pitch and that one popped up back foul behind plate and out of play 21. 27year-old from Stafford, Connecticut. Marlins had hosted the Panthers. What is it? Rookie class, draft class. The draft class, the recent draft team, right?
There were like a 100 guys out. My goodness. Yeah. I don’t I know nothing about the neither. Neither do I. I know zero. I know. I know. The Panthers won back to back. I don’t think that’s the extent. Go Cats.
I know there was a huge crowded elbow room. One, two.
I heard miss inside. Two and two. And they they brought everybody back. They brought everybody.

Yeah, they Yes. Sam Bennett, I think they signed too. Two two from Simpson to Royce Lewis. about foul third base side. How many rounds? Seven. No way. There were there were like

The the funniest part about having the Panthers draft class out here was they were standing just over the third base dugout railing on the Marlin side. 22 misses low and in. And the count runs full on the pinch hitter Royce Lewis to open top seven. A couple of them were absolutely fascinated by Clayton McCulla’s media. They saw the cameras and the microphones around Clayton. They could not take their eyes off of

Conor Norby goes up to one of them. Hey, who’s a goalie? Who’s who’s a goalie? He was like dead set. I don’t know if you ever found him. Look for the goalie. Is there like anger in his eyes?
He was just like excitement like very intrigued. You know, I was fascinated to learn a few years ago as Ryan Jeffers comes to the plate that hockey goalenders are not big people. They look huge with the pass.
John Birdie was a goalie.
This is inside for ball one. Who’s a hockey goalie?
Now granted, he had older brothers, so he didn’t really have much of a choice, but he was the little guy. He was a goalie. He said, “All right, between the pipes.
Sure.
Block everything.”
Exactly. Lewis at first. Lefty Simpson fires the one. No, he does not. He goes over. Check on Lewis and he’s back standing up.
Mentioned this earlier in the ball. Ryan Jeffer is one of several Minnesota twins wearing a nasal strip. I’ve seen Carlos Berea wear a nasal strip as well. You try it out.
I do. I do it every night.
Nasal strip.
It kind of opens the airways of your nose. On a pitch, this is blowing in count two and0. the notable athlete that was wearing a nasal strip during the Australian Open, Carlos Alvarez, was wearing a nasal strip
and Alvarez said it just it kind of takes the thought away from you know needing to catch your breath. It opens your airways to your nose and he felt like his performance kind of upticked and maybe these guys feel the same way. two pitches about her foul into the camera. Well again looked out Jeremy Pache won the count on Jeff
John Tuito on camera who does such a great job of warning everybody.
Yeah. Seems like he’s good. He’s recalibrating. Good one from Simpson. That one just up and out. Three in one. It looked like it flipped the strike zone pretty clearly. Chief James Hoy, could he be hearing it from the Marlins dugout right now? He took a little peek over there. 3-1 pitch foul. Third base side again. Look at the camera. Well,
that’s three. Everybody’s all right beyond the third base dugout. That’s F runner at first. 3-2 from Simpson has to wait again. Throw over to check on Lewis. set at the letters. His payoff pitch that one wanded at and missed. 94 up and out. That was clearly ball four, but Jeffers with a reluctant check swing and he’s shaking his head in frustration as he walks back. Simpson has a good luck punch out. And there’s one away in the top of the seventh. Clearly not looking for that fast ball on the outside corner. The way he was choked up there a bit. Well, you see that swing. Maybe they can come in more inside. But, uh, hey, Simpson will take it. Daniel Mosquez, the pitching coach, out to give Josh Simpson the lowown on a pinch hitter. It’s no longer Cody Clemens. Rockco Beli turns to Tai France here. Haven’t seen any mid inning mound visits or pitching changes from Minnesota. Yesterday, I was told that Roco Belle will not be making the mound. Instead, it’ll be the pitching coach Pete Mack for the pitching change. Roco is having a foot peel. Let’s see if Rocco is okay. Now, his visit with Simpson is adjourned and have his team back into the crouch. Former Mariner, former all-star Ty France. First pitch Simpson with Lewis at first and the Marlins trailing 2-1 in the top seven is on the way having a chopping ground ball foul third base side nothing lot of fouls to the third base side the center yeah they’re really just out of front of Simpson that time a change up inner half the plate working off the third base side of the rubber and the home whites for the Marlins come second and his 01 pitch taking a called strike curve ball in the outer red nothing and two Royce Lewis was drafted as you know a five tool shortstop out of high school by Minnesota in 2017 number one overall but Lewis heavy of injuries. Shut down the stolen face in this game. Not really a threat to go over there. 02 pitch. That one bounced. That uh away from Augustine, but that was a foul ball. I guess that flipped off Franc’s bat. Or did it?
I didn’t think it did. What happened there? But Lewis is still standing on so the scoreboard has one and two. Game day tracker has 0 and2 that will foul it off Francis front foot. Our monitor the telecast has one and two. I just want to figure out what’s going on. I feel like 0 and2 is the correct count. But we’re violently out. Two-1 Twins top seven, one away. Two strike pitch is just low. See what James says the count is. He says it’s one and two.
Okay, so I guess foul ball of our verdict. The ball in two strikes to count. The one two on a ground ball over to third. Could be two. Norby backs up. Goes to second for one. On to first. Plenty of time. Double play rolled by Simpson and he negates the leadoff walk. 543 on the DP and it’s time to stretch at Lone Depot Park. Go to the bottom of the seventh. It’s 2-1 Twins on the Marlins radio network.

Down by a run, eight outs to work with. 200. Norby fouls it back over the top of the back stop netting again. That was a fast ball in on the hands, but Norby did fire at that and fouled it back. No torpedo for Connor tonight. He uh varies a bit between the torpedo and just normal bats. Two-1. Norby rips one into left. That is in for a base hit. He got a knuckle curve and Connor was sitting on that. Fourth pitch, the first nonfast ball and Norby aboard with his first hit of the night. It’s a one out single in the bottom of the seventh.
All right. Nice job by Connor Norby turning on that one. Passing the baton to Dane Meyers. Great spot to see Dane get going,
right? Really slowed down on that road trip. First pitch from Barl. Meers lifts it out to shallow right field. Foul ground. That twisting into the seats and out of play. And a nice grab by a fan in the Budweiser luxury seating area. I think he called for a fair catch and then caught it like a punt. I like Deon Hester. I used to love me some Deon Hester
as a Bears. Uh
no, as a you right here watching him on this holy ground in front of us.
Well, one Dane went around curve blowing away counts nothing. Two here at the Orange Bowl. Yeah, Devin Hester here at the Orange Bowl. I I was going to say as a Bears sort of kind of fan, I enjoyed Deon Hester.
That’s right. Get the ball to Hester. Sayanara sucker. Marians lead it first. Farland fires the O2. That one bounced. It wasn’t picked on the backhand by Jeffers, but he knocked it in front of him. Gots the ball in two strikes. I asked some people, he he kind of opened my eyes to know football creating in space. I asked people like if he’s so good at running with the ball, why doesn’t he play running? Right now, there’s this whole idea of like you need space to maneuver and things like that. One, two, Myers punches that one into left center field. That is dropping quickly. That’s in for a base hit. Bader again loses the hat. He fires it in. Norby stops at second base. Back-to-back knocks against Barland here in the seventh. All right, Marlin’s getting something going. Just a second time tonight, they’ve collected two hits in an inning. And for the first time tonight, backto back knocks. Able to turn it to the top of the lineup. Davia Edwards 0 for two with a walk in the third. Had that great idea last time out. dropped the bunt. Fortunately, just rolled foul, ended up striking out looking. Pete Mackey, the pitching coach, is out to chat with Barland and the rest of the Twins infield. Have a match up with Xavier Edwards. There is a lefty warming up for the Twins. Danny Koulong is up and throwing the former Baltimore Orio gearing up for Asus Sanchez on deck circuit. That’s a guy that you trust to do a job right now with the Marlins down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh. And you got Meyers at first, Norby at second, one man out. This guy is near impossible to double up. Action in the Marlins pen as well. Two guys up and throwing, Ronnie Enriquez and Valente Fosso. First pitch. X slaps one into left field. That is in for a base hit. Bader’s going to come up firing. Norby getting the runaround. The throw home. Perfect. Airborne all the way to the plate. Bader unleashes a BB to the dish from left and they cut down Norby as he’s trying to score. It’s a single for Edwards. Meyers went first to third, but Norby, who was getting the windmill from Blake Lai, was unfortunately dead to rights after that exceptional throw from Harrison Bader in left. It was a little bit high, but it got down play at the plate.
It got there in plenty of time. It was a high throw. Jeffers pulled it down and applied the tag. The Marlins are challenging. I assume they’re challenging for obstruction purposes.
That’s exactly what I thought. Taking a closer look, it looked like as he was coming down with the throw is when he was blocking the plate. I haters
and the terminology states if the throw takes you into the right takes you into the base running lane, it’s okay.
It’s okay. Like he had possession of the ball. Harrison Bader, that’s what he’s known for. He’s known for his great defense. He makes a perfect throw to the plate. And the Marlins are going to be aggressive in that situation. Kudos to to Xavier Edwards going the opposite way. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with there, but I’m thinking that Connor’s out of the plate there. There was no violation to the home rule and the out is confirmed. Miami will lose their count. Exactly what we were thinking. Out number two at the plate on this seven to2 put out the left fielder Bader to the catcher Jeffers. The throw took him right into the running lane for Connor Norby.
Just perfectly played all around by the Twins. And here comes Roco Baldelli. Joe Baldelli gonna take the ball from Louis Vland and they will hand the ball off to Danny Koul in a left on left matchup. Isu Sanchez may not be hitting here. While we do get the pitching change, we’re in the bottom of the seventh. It’s 2-1 Minnesota with two men gone and runners second and third. We’re not stepping aside. Instead, we go to Steven Strong. Well, we have a long Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is apo taco. I understand not wanting to attack Hernandez who has been very strong to open his major league career but one of the hottest hitters in baseball is standing in the on deck circle in Otto Lopez. 3-1 now with a check swing and a cold strike anyways on a cutter that was well off the lower inside corner. Count runs full. That’s a shame. This will be a tough test for Hernandez. really got to try to shake that off. It’s a tough thing to do. 3-2. That one misses low. A cutter about shin high. Hernandez stayed disciplined and he walks to load the bases for Otto Lopez.
That’s such a job well done by the rookie. When you get a missed call like you do, a lot of times you see guys start fishing out of the strike zone. in that situation. Just stayed composed, did not let it affect the next pitch. Well, that brings up Otto Lopez. First pitch to him. Takes off the inside edge. A fast ball for ball one. So far today, 0 for three with a 10 pitch. A called strike. A cutter on the lower outside corner. One and one. Marlins trailing two to one, but the bases are loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning. Out hitting Twins 7 to six. Home set 1-1. Otto swings and drills one high and deep left field. Strand bases loaded. Last half inning. Auto Lopez hit what really looks like a drink. Oh two. Oh, it lined right over Valente but right at the shift. Second baseman Edwards. He’s got it on a hard one up and he tossed first in time for out number one. That ball almost took Valenc’s head off. Yeah, that was I it looked like it was hit a lot harder than 94 miles per hour. I’ll tell you that it really looked smoked and Valence thankfully ducked out of the way and is playing almost directly behind it. Now they also seeing rocks kicks Indian. Buckton takes a tight turning cutter on the lower outside corner. Nothing one. Buckton so far today. One for three. Little runs scored the first one pitch. Buckton pops that one up high in the air behind the plate and drifting seats at a plate. 15 nothing two. Eeoso, 25-year-old from Mexalei, Mexico saw reporting that Valente has been contacted about being on team Mexico’s preliminary roster, but he was fouled back for the World Baseball Classic. Very cool. That’s very cool.
Also saw reporting from Kevin Bar first that Otto Lopez will be playing for Canada in the World Baseball Classic next year. Awesome to see those rosters starting to fill out. 02 lifts one high in the air out to center pretty deep back just shy of the track. Dane Meyers sets up shop and he makes the catch for out number two.
I do have an interesting note. I’m going to try to remember it off the top of my head about Otto Lopez and representing I think he’s he’s the only player I think it is who’s represented two different countries over the span of one year in international tournament.
Really? Yes, I I’ve got the note around here somewhere. I could see like the exact wording of it, but but yes, I remember on that over the offso first to Trevor Lick. That one ripped right back at him. That hit Valente, but he’s got it. He nonchalantly throws to first. It was a little bit low, but grabbed by Wagaman to end the inning. Valente is going to walk back to the third base dugout. Maybe get great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921.

The Marlins are trailing 2 to one and Griffin Jacks is into the contest. Griffin Jacks 30-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona is one of the best relievers in baseball last year. 72 appearances at 2.03 RA punched out 95 in 71 innings. Jack seeing Augustine Ramirez and he spins a sweeper onto the lower outside edge for a called strike. Nothing in one this year. 35 and a third innings for Jacks. He’s got a 408. But in those 35 innings, he’s punched out 60c. Augustine swings and misses at a sinker at 96. The knees nothing two. 15 and a half strikeouts per nine. That’s unbelievable. Jack set working off the first base side of the rubber. It is 02 to Ramirez on the way for misses low and away. Griffin Jax one of two players in MLB history to come from the US Air Force Academy. Jax was drafted out of the United States Air Force Academy. The other one was not drafted out of there but spent two years there. Paul Ste going to LSU and
two Mrs. Low away. Two and two. There’s some conversation around making Griffin Jacks a starting pitcher in the offse, but Minnesota felt like they had enough depth there and they wanted to keep him as their eighth inning guy in front of Yuan Don.
Well, he has five different pitches.
Two two game takes low a sweeper and the count runs four. So, he most certainly has the arsenal to do so. He uses that sweeper about 44% of the time followed by the change up, the forcing fast ball. 30 of those 60 strikeouts coming on the sweeper.
Two is a bouncing ball over to short. Fare’s got it. Let her high hop. He gears up for a hard throw over to first in time for up number one. Do have a defensive change. Deshawn Kerzy Jr. is into the game in right field. He replaces Trevor Lick. This is for defensive purposes. The Twins are effectively running out three center fielders right now. All three of these guys can go get it with Bader in left. Obviously Buckman in center and Deshawn Kersy Jr. right. Jeff seeing Kyle Sters first pitch. Sters out front. Dribbles one for the Twins dugout. Foul. Nothing one. Two-1 Minnesota. Marlins have won eight straight. One shy of a franchise record. one pitch or swings and misses that nasty sweeper at 89 at the knees. Nothing in two. Hour straighted time by the home plate umpire James Hoy. Eric Wagman waits on deck with a two for three day solo shot second. The only run for the fifth takes a deep breath and his O2 pitch is cut on and miss. 94 mph change up dove off the outside corner. Sters extended and he strikes out swinging for out number two.
And that pitch has the next most strikeouts in his arsenal at now 24. There are some guys, and listen, you have to be a certain level of nasty to be a major league bullpen arm, but there are some guys that take that to the next level. And this guy might be in the top five or 10 in baseball if there’s nastiest stuff. First pitch to Eric Wagon is a sweeper that misses low away. Ball one.
And generally too, guys coming out of the bullpen, you can eliminate a pitch.
Yeah.
Because they generally are only operating with two, maybe three. He’s got five. One pitch. Bagman takes a called strike. He stepped out thinking that sweeper was ticketed for his shoulder, but instead it was ticked for the inside corner. One and one. Jacks fires the 1-1 and Wagaman lifts it foul and back behind the plate. Got a play. One, two pitch. That one a fast ball again. Tagged out to right center field. Buckton on the move. Gliding to the spot. He makes the catch just shy of the warning track. And that ends the inning. Wagamman hit it well, but

Julie Castro sprays the first pitch into right field. That is in for a base hit against Valente Fosso. That was a cutter. And Castro drilled it for his third hit of the night. Castro singled to the first, doubled and scored in the fourth. And here he’s on to lead off the ninth. Marlins need to keep this at a run. Agree. Brooks Lee, the hitter now. He’s one for two with the sacrifice fly to play the first run of this ball game in the top of the third come set at the letterso’s first pitch and the switch hitter Lee batting left is on the way misses low and away a change up ball one got a note from Cory Provis the TV announcer Minnesota Twins he said Minnesota has lost nine straight eight one- run games.
Mhm. Pitch Lee drills one down the right field line. That is twisting foul seats out of play. Is right back to the field of play. Is Scour going to go get it? Or is the ball girl going to do that? Is a ball girl job. Scers will that happen? And now gear up for a 1-1 to lead. Castro at first. So holds and he fires foul back. You can see it clear his head. One, two. One misses low. A change up. A lot of guys have that patented Tommy John scar off the inside of their elbow. Don’t want to say if a right of passage among pitchers, but it’s kind of getting to that point. Same guys go through it twice. Two. This is outside. You saw Drew Rasmmanson throw twice for Tampa earlier this year. This guy had it twice while in college two at Oregon State and he recently underwent a UCL reconstruction. Runner on the move. Throw to second base is perfect. They get Castro try to steal second and it’s a strike him out throw him out. Augustine fired a bullseye to second base. Base is empty. Two men gone in the ninth. A job well done by the Marlins just like that after allowing a leadoff single. One pitch and two outs for Valente Beoso. Carlos Koreah first pitch at the blow and away for ball one and that fast up. Lee was late. He was expecting off speed. Marlins will have to cut through a very tough arm. Go on Durant warming up and a broken bat. A roller over the forehand of Lopez. He slides. He pops up. Throws to first. It is late. Otto covers so much ground. That would have clearly been a top 10 play, but instead it’s a two-out infield single for Carlos Koreah.
And that little slide that he has to the glove hand side, we’ve seen him perfect it at second base. Obviously needs a little bit more time when you’re over there at shortstop, but did such a nice job of popping up and getting the ball across the infield to Eric Wagman. Eric Wagamman and uh unfortunately just a little late. The Wagman will hold Koreah at first. Royce Lewis Bayo now two-1 game. Marlins trailing in the top of the ninth. And the first pitch to Lewis is a perfect cutter on the lower outside corner. Nothing one. Golan Dan warming up. Gon scoring a 1.69 ERA this year. for one pitch. He’s got a 1.69 RA. in 37 and a3 innings. He’s punched out 42 and walked 14. Don, the book on him, high octane stuff. He sits 100 m an hour with his fastball. And oh, by the way, he throws the best splinker in the game. A 98 mph splitter. This guy has stuff that you create in a video game. Oh, Don, the bigbodied right-hander who came up as a starting pitching prospect and has blossomed into the Twins closer, fires the first pitch and that one is in for a called strike and 88 mph curve ball with strike one to Liam Hicks.
In his last 44 games, a 1.45 erra, 52 strikeouts, opponents hitting just 196. on Don again. It is next level nasty stuff. A one pitch. That one misses low. A splitter at 98. The human body should not be able to produce that, but it does.

So good.
Conor Norby. First pitch to him is cut on a miss. The splitter at 98 at the knees. Brown. One of the few relievers that works from the wine in his one pitch in on Norby’s hands. That’s a job well done by Connor Norby. Swung through that same exact pitch. Just a pitch before. This time doesn’t miss it. Gets it past the diving Lee at third. Brings up Dane Meyers. see if he can get keep it going. But now it’s Meyers in the bottom of the ninth. It’s 2-1 Minnesota. Don from the stretch fires the first pitch to Kane right now. And Myers, the bouncing ball over to short. Perea has got it. He goes to second for one. On to first. That is in time for the double play. One pitch and that ends the ball game.
