2025 NHL Draft, Day 2 Coverage – 6/28/2025 – Teal Town USA

um yeah we’re actually doing this uh day two of the draft is happening and uh we’re going to go live for at least round two maybe round three uh I make no promises I’ll be here till round seven anyways enjoy Tealtown USA [Music] you know where to find us you know us you love us you can find us on the YouTube the X the Insta the socials um you can find us everywhere really uh I’m joined by the man the myth the legend Ian
yes hello
Ian the first thing he came in today when he came into the studio was “This is a horrible idea.” This this these are my words exactly uh I cannot wait to regail you with my indepth super knowledge of whoever the Sharks take in the seventh round because that’s definitely what I do
we all know the seventh round picks so well right Ian
yeah look I look I’m I’m looking forward to seeing what the Sharks do early on here obviously though where there’s still players on the board where you kind of have a feel of what of who they are obviously as the draft progresses it it’s it gets to a point where um you know there’s going to be digging and and that’s what tomorrow shows for because that’s what we do right we we do the usually we only do the live stream for for round one and then uh and then at the end of the weekend we collect our thoughts and do our research on some of the later on picks and then we talk about them uh on our Sunday show which will be uh this Sunday at uh 6 Pacific 9 Eastern and I know I’ve said this a million times but I’m just going to say it again because that’s what you do on the YouTube promote future shows yes
you don’t want to miss
um so yeah so I mean if uh for more in-depth thoughts I think on on the picks that the uh the Sharks take especially in the later rounds um tune in tomorrow i hope you tune in tomorrow for that because I think
today will be kind of broad uh more than anything uh Fiddler or Spence yeah that’s my bet i’d be shocked if it wasn’t one of the two um I mean you feel like you should probably go Fiddler just because of positional needs but Greer has said that he’s not going to draft position
i think here’s the thing right and I and I said this yesterday on the show um the draft is one piece of the puzzle it’s an important piece and I don’t want to like minimize the important piece but it’s not like you ha you have to address everything through the draft and if you don’t then
you’re right is not cooked in that sense right
i I I think there’s other ways to address those needs obviously I think you know Mark made a very good point here like anyone even like even if it’s Fiddler right who I who I like a lot you’re still talking this is a you’re talking middle pair guys at this point
at best like ceiling middle pair like you know what I mean you’re not drafting at this point you’re not drafting your future number one stud rightand defenseman
no and
I think people need to remember that at this point right so it’s like oh so so let’s say they take Malcolm Spence who’s a left winger I like a lot um you know and they don’t take a D man here it’s not the end of the world because again you’re not no matter who you draft you’re not drafting that top flight guy who’s going to be the the standard bearer on the right side forever it’s just not happening
yeah um fiddler on the roof Jules uh nice one Marty um no I’m I’m curious to see what the sharks do here because none of these um at least the D that are projected to go today none of them are top pairing D’s or even close to that most of them like their like their max capacity their ceiling is probably a really solid third pairing guy you look at this draft it’s filled with like when I was looking at guys they might take later today it’s like six foot five six foot three just hard-nosed D man and you know I’m ass sure Mike Greer will pick up a few of those guys but if the first pick isn’t one of those I don’t think it’s the end of the world this draft is has a lot of depth in that area where there’s a lot of pretty like project picks but they’re pretty good like defensive defenseman in my opinion go ahead
sorry no go ahead oh I was just gonna Let’s uh let’s do Pat’s uh comment here first and then the comment below i love
uh Rykin seems like a Carolina to me at 34 i feel like that’s too early for him because he’s fallen off so like he’s fallen so hard right i mean maybe I might be completely wrong but yes it does feel greer almost seemed to show contempt for everyone after his post request i think that like again I think Mike Greer obviously like these guys are the ones doing like it’s easy for me to sit here and be like they should have done this and they should have done that but like what work have I done i I sat down with my draft guides two weeks before the draft for guys that I haven’t seen to try and basically educate myself on these guys and now I’m going to be like the expert on what the Sharks need to do with this pick like I don’t know i mean like I’m not saying we shouldn’t have opinions like fans absolutely should have opinions and that’s what makes being a fan great but I think that the I think especially in a market like San Jose too where the fan voices are so loud like when you look at the San Jose like we have a disproportionate amount of podcasts per popularity of the team in my opinion that that hold a lot of I think that hold a lot of sway in the fan base right i’m not saying like I’m not saying like we like us specifically i think there’s us there’s JD like there’s all these there’s a lot of voices that are very very loud in this fan base and they eat a lot of the oxygen in this fan base i feel like and I I think that sometimes you we have to remember that like again like you know I I know JD talks to a lot of scouts and stuff like he has interviews with with scouts and on different guides and whatnot but like at the end they’re the ones doing the work not us
yeah I do want to address his comment um it seemed like Greer was annoyed with the whole Friendella discourse because he stated that Misa was always going to be the pick that was like he basically flat out came out and said yesterday that like we had Misa decided for a while and then like you know a week before the draft there’s reports oh yes the Sharks are going to take Anton second overall you know what I mean so I think I get why Gur was probably annoyed with that but I also wouldn’t be shocked if it was I don’t that will never make sense to me i think that was whatever but
I think and the thing is too right like you have to remember like a lot of these a lot of these people that are that were were talking about the this possibility like these guys are connected they know people in scouting c like in scouting circles they know they know team scouts and I’m I’m sure there were people in the San Jose group that were probably banging the table for Antonell that probably you know and and but obviously Michael Misa ended up being um the pick so I don’t I I I don’t think there was nothing to it i just think again it’s like is the guy that they’re talking to the guy who actually has sway or is this just someone where they say oh yeah we’ve you know in passing they go okay well you know yeah we had definitely conversations about Fondell and then that gets reported and then obviously the the aggregation sphere which we are a part of by the way
we are absolutely not help I was not helping that um
no but and that’s what I like it annoys me though because um not that I want to pick a fight with anyone but there’s but there’s people in this group that are really angry about like aggregation and whatever but it’s like that we are a part of that food chain we talk about speculation as much as anybody else maybe we don’t publish an article every time uh stuff comes up but I mean like what have been the Sunday show since the season ended it’s just us talking about speculation us talking about aggregated stuff like we’re just we’re a part of that food chain and it it drives me crazy that we’re supposed to be so upset about it when we are very much a part of that problem
real quick Fiddler at 33 and Eper at 50 i would be so glad if the met with that
sick man i’d be all over that
i’d be all over that eper for those of you who don’t know he’s a winger who actually did play with u Misa and uh Sherna and yes it doesn’t translate whatever but I I do like Eper as a prospect even though he is uh D+ but yes if it’s Fiddler and Eper I think uh Ian and I will be very happy with
two picks huh
nothing if I buzzed I’m just wondering if I’m getting in trouble uh no I’m not okay Ian’s like “Am I getting in trouble?” Okay predictions who’s the pick at 33 your final guess
i Okay so for me if if I had like my wish and again being just a guy who um
angry guy on
and being an angry guy on the internet um I I would really like obviously Fiddler um I think is the best D a like on the board right now um but like if they pick Malcolm Spence I’m not crying i am not crying in the club if they pick anyone else we’ll see what they do
um I agree with Jeff Greer said last night they’re avoiding drafting the for team need over BPA might be Spence at 33 i hope Sharks trade up 34 and 35 to get both Fiddler and Spence that’d be great i just don’t see Carolina moving back again um but yeah I I honestly think Greer has shown that he’s going BPA no matter what happens to a certain degree um and I think Joshua the goalie just kind of fell to them and they felt the need that it was too good of a value pick to take it at 30 and they were making a bet that hey maybe one of those Dman will be available but I I still think they go Spence here i just think we’ve seen how Greer has drafted especially early in the second round it was Halton it was Shernave and I think he’s going to continue that with Spence here oh yeah and I agree like that’s how you should draft to be honest yeah
yeah yeah hey you look at I I think again there’s there’s more ways to address your problems than just the draft i think again like the draft is an important piece and I don’t want anyone to get that twisted but it’s one piece it’s not the be all and end all all rebuilds have to be completely built through the draft show me a rebuild that was completely rebuilt through the draft with no free agent signings no trades no nothing like it you can’t
sharks forward seventh round of next year
yeah yeah 9:00 am podcasting what kind of It’s the world where Jules had went insane
noon here
in in my defense it’s noon here there’s no way in hell I was doing this at 9:00 if it was my time forget that cuz you can just take your BPA and then flip for a better established Dman exactly
like that’s why don’t be shocked if they do go Spence here um start off the day by drafting Fiddler i think that’s what Sharks fans are hoping for
that’s what I mean look at man again like I would be a static if if Fiddler’s the pick because Static Spence was the picker and if they pick someone else we’ll see who they pick and I’ll see if Let’s see what Let’s see what Let’s see what that they pick another goalie everyone’s rioting um uh Skyler saying “Also thanks for doing the show last night in SAP Center besides the the show the whole uh draft party was pretty meh.” Yeah I I don’t know uh how how was the uh how was the draft party i will say a lot of people left a before pick 30 because the draft took like seven hours i don’t think it was the draft party that was met i think it was just the overall draft that was really way too long or it just felt like it was way too long i don’t know which one it was
that’s that’s the answer right because here’s the thing if you go back and you look at previous live stream like we started a little bit early this year but if we had started at the same time as the draft our draft live stream would have been the same length as it was last year it just didn’t flow this year i think it was just bad television it was the same length like it didn’t it did not speed it up at all that’s that’s something for sure for sure and obviously again you know you got to you got to let the TV people do their interviews you got to pay the bills by commercials and so I I I didn’t think this was going to be like a 2hour first round like some people I think thought but it really was the same length but it did feel like a eternity yeah it it felt really long and poor Pat had was screaming about the Columbus pick hey at least we didn’t pick him nothing against that kid but it’s like that was an offthe-board pick for number 20
yeah and like so um it feels like right-handed defenseman are becoming premium they’ve always been it’s not becoming They’ve always been a premium in the league which is why I wanted to grab a bunch of ones and see which ones pan out i love Thompson Pole Camp and Misky but we need more no and I agree i I just think that you can but you don’t you can address it in other ways you can sign Aaron Ecklad as a unrestricted free agent you can you know what I mean you Noah Dobson just went to Montreal he’s a right-hand shot like it was it costly for the Islanders 100% it was but like you can address it it’s not impossible to get these guys is it harder 100% there is definitely a premium and they you know if you’re going the trade route they do cost and if you’re and if it’s sometimes they don’t hit free agency but again um but it’s not the you know but drafting them all isn’t the be all and end all
also shout out to the 109 people watching this right now good god I love it love you guys uh also Sam Bennett signing an 8 by8 just is going to piss off all the no tax people so um sorry I had to bring that up okay anyways um
I don’t know man
is that is that like I think that’s market value like not a sweetheart deal
i I still think going into it he probably was expected to get more but that’s I think Sure oh if he goes to the open market someone probably if you get a bidding war for him then can he get nine maybe even closer to 10 yeah probably listen I just want to piss people off ian it’s 9:00 a.m in the morning
but you’re going to piss me off now
that’s fine you’re coffee yes
we got to get an Ian rant going before the Sharks make their pick don’t worry we’re all leaving after pick 33 that’s sad
don’t leave after pick 33 are you guys want to see me like lash out again because we didn’t pick F oh we’re starting
all right
Bill Dailyy please make this faster than last night usually that usually this is
naturally we’re gonna jinx it right about now
yeah we’re gonna be adult
i I have to leave it at at 12:15 no matter what happens
um what do you guys think marian’s going to get too much money for a 30 however old he is
but someone’s going to overpay him if he’s a guy see Brad Marshian’s a guy if he hits the open market I do wonder if that number starts with an eight and has six zeros behind it um if he stays though again but like and here’s again right like this is a guy who’s always kind of like his whole career I feel like he’s taken sweetheart deals in Boston so
are they just zoomed in right now oh okay never mind the
is it uh I think it’s on ESPN Plus
i have it pulled up on the TV right now on NHL or NHL Network so
yeah NHL Network espn Plus in the States I think is where you can find it yeah i need more shin on the leafs for the memes alone yeah I would uh that I would laugh at that
all right so what are we doing we’re not picking anyone
what are we doing we’re not picking anyone
no they they just said we’re just going to forfeit the pick to make our fan base more mad you know
that’s rude
okay all right um got to say Yeah
the 65 monster
uh Ashawa Generals I think
yeah he’s interesting um oh I can’t hear if they’re making the pick so I don’t know if the clock even started who did they Oh they picked Simon Wang yeah wow
oh boy so that was Wow all right
i’m not mad 6 foot six
oh my god
it’s It’s a It’s a re Here’s the Here’s the problem it’s definitely a reach it’s a reach
it’s definitely a reach um but I that was kind of Huh okay
you You probably could have maybe you get him at 53 i don’t think he’s there at 53 but I just don’t believe he would fall to 53 um but I could be very wrong it’s it’s it’s a reach
oh it’s 100% a reach interesting okay where the hell is this guy i’m trying to find him on Elite Prospects give me a few seconds guys 49 thank you yeah it’s it’s it’s 100% of reach but here’s the thing though here here’s the thing like it’s a it’s a reach but one thing that I do really like about this is when you look at like um Elite Prospects their thing um this is a 6’6 6’5 6’6 guy and they rank his skating a seven out of nine
he can skate like the wind
yeah like
and yeah sorry
for a guy that size like that’s that’s really good skating like he’s he’s a like typically those tall guys struggle to skate a bit
um so Oh and another left shot D man i It’s interesting it’s like I think it’s a little bit of a project again i think it’s it’s it’s really high um
Oh there was there just a trade cuz now Montreal is on the clock
oh why did they say Montre Oh Ottawa
uh maybe I’m wrong
oh oh Alexander Zerowski for the Montreal Canadians so Fiddler’s still falling eh uh no pat uh Wang is a lefty yeah he’s a left shot D
left shot D dude why is Fiddler still falling
i don’t know
i just got a message from Kevin oh no julio come join i sent you a link on Don’t I don’t hate the pick i just hate where it is
i just don’t It’s a reach um Well that Yeah Simon so here’s the thing and I’ve said I don’t know if I’ve said this before but like Greer tends to value skating in his
Yes
defenseman like he’ll pick a Dman because of his skating
um it’s just it’s too high for a wing pick that’s all like it’s not nec I don’t mind it it’s just too high jacob Romach oh crap he was a guy wanted the sharks to snag um so an from elite prospects an enormously gifted skater with massive playkilling potential and flashes of vision the biggest development project in the draft but unique potential
that’s and that’s see and that’s where the concern is for me there is like I do worry about the Sharks ability to develop raw talent um so that’s like there’s there’s definitely some red flags here um I think to be 100% fair like there this is a project and I you got to hope that the Sharks can figure this out um but I mean like there’s guys that I that I kind of circled like I circled a guy like um Carter Amo who I think is also a big project and has more injury concerns obviously like at least weighing here is uh is is not Yeah he’s not like you know the injury concerns aren’t there but again I just it’s really high
that’s just too high oh so yeah Jordan Spence to Ottawa 67th pick this year and a sixth in 2026 yeah yeah and like Skyler I think is a good like it’s I think yes there’s a Keandre Miller because they were both like raw when they were drafted i think that’s probably where the comparison ends again like I think Miller um is a better player but I think from like the fact that there’s a lot of work to do there I think you could make that comparison i wouldn’t compare them beyond that though if that’s uh again like the Greer values skating and I think this came down to there’s it’s rare to find a 6’6 giraffe who can skate that well and he skates like the wind right
um again it’s a project pick i I I I still think it’s too high of a project pick
right yeah yeah yeah
but Fiddler is still sliding um which is shocking to me right now i think I But it it’s shocking a little bit but it’s also It’s not shocking because there’s really like this is kind of going how we thought right we knew that there was going to be that cluster at the top and then everything else was going to be jump ball after that we’ve seen a lot of players even in the late first round that are way ahead of where a lot of people had them ranked we’ve seen a lot of reaches uh so far um okay um the flyer I think there’s another trade coming here cuz flyers have been on the clock for about 18 hours
probably speed this up um so anyway I’ll just give you I’ll give you his tool grades um across the board so he has a seven in skating a five in shooting a five in passing 4.5 in stick handling 4.0 in hockey sense which is again the project part of it uh and a six in physical i mean it’s it’s um they compare him to Alexic i don’t know if I’d go there but all right listen if we can get any sort of Alex Vic dude the draft is moving slower called it um if we get any kind of Alex Vic from this pick I will be loving life um there has to be a trade here right because they’ve went past the Oh yeah simon Wang’s going to uh Boston University so God that blue line’s going to be huge lebron trade call pending uh still still pending but Jordan Spence to Ottawa for a third round that’s it i Okay all right um dude it was funny because I joked that they might take Simon like early second i need to stop joking that the Sharks are going to pick guys because Greer’s like listening to me and has picked Ravensburg and uh uh they picked Simon Wang a 6’6 defenseman committed to Boston University
he played in Ashawa for the Asha Generals in the Ontario Hockey League last year um well at least Wing will be on the same blue line as Bumadine I guess yeah they they can form the giant um the giant why is this taking so long the giant pairing does anyone know if there’s like a trade happening jules my Yeah I know my jokes are ruining the franchise ruining this franchise listen I am I I listen I will they’re going to take Blake Fiddler blake Fiddler’s going to fall and uh there it is uh I missed how you guys felt about the goalie pick um for 30
i’m fine with it i’m I’m okay with it um I think that the Sharks have always really not really valued the goalending position in the draft i think that when you look at a player like Ravensburg and um the timeline like I know people are like oh we have Ascarov right and that’s true but I I think with the timeline of of Ravensburg and even if he comes in ahead of timeline like everyone’s going to tandemss now you it’s very rare like Connor Halabuk’s kind of one of the last hold outs of the guys that plays 70 million games a season um most teams now have like a good 1A 1B uh rot rotation and again like I think incredibly highly of Ascarov but like that’s all the eggs are in that basket right and I think that you I I think that you can’t just like not draft goalies and be like “Oh well it’s fine we’ve got Askarov.” I think that is um as highly as I think of Ascarov like we don’t I don’t know what the future holds so I think having a goalie uh drafted in the first round is it’s fine um he’s the top rated goalie in this draft i know people aren’t are really sour on CHL goalies at this point and I do understand that but at the same time um it’s nice to have that and I think the timeline is fine because he’s probably going to take some time to get going um so you’re talking you know he can come in um behind Ascarov and be the 1B and if there’s any trail off in Ascarov uh as he ages you have that kind of guy waiting in the wings and if everything goes as perfectly as humanly possible then you have an asset you can flip later for something you need uh real quick Seattle just traded up um and now they’re on the clock with from Philadelphia thanks Pat uh 36 to Okay that’s fine um
timeline I would say he’s look at Ravensburg’s going to play his his next two years in junior hockey unless he manages to to go to a college program uh and then he’s probably in the EHL for a year or two after that like it’s probably four four or five years before he’s probably ready to to play regular games in the NHL and then you know what I mean so I think it’s fine yeah it’s fine i’m curious who Seattle traded up for
blake Fiddler there it is yeah finally um good pick for Seattle 65 jesus I wanted him okay that’s unfortunate uh good good pick there for Seattle um I’m trying to think
it’s fine
it’s fine um I’m curious where if uh Capitals take spence here curious there goes Blake Filler why has Greer forsaken us cuz he heard all of my jokes and decided to make all of my jokes real i like I like it i I like I like Blake Fiddler but again I don’t think like is this the franchise altering mistake that’s gonna doom us forever no it’s not people are going to make it out to be but and that’s fine but yeah um trying to see if we have any yeah Jordan Spence is going to be good in Ottawa highest Also the Sharks made history highest drafted Chinese-b born player in NHL history that’s cool i dig it
so love that love that um prospect scrimmage is going to be really fun now with a ton of Giants showing up we have a 6 five goalie uh we have all the Giants coming um Phillies Oh Milton Gastron is off to Capitals so does does is uh does Malcolm Spence have like blackmail
i don’t again this draft like again I’m going to I’m going to repeatedly say this like there’s no consensus here
there is none and that’s the thing to remember like every team’s draft board is completely different and the public’s draft views are completely different than what the teams think right like the only thing that was arguably solidified and even that wasn’t solidified is that it was Schaefer at one Misa that’s it oh we have another guest Kevin kevin’s audio only today hi Kevin hey can you hear me
yep
yeah we can
oh awesome hello everybody i actually barely have a voice um but uh I’m happy to be here and hope you all are enjoying the beginning of of uh round two now uh unfortunately I I missed the first part of the stream here for those of you who did miss the first part of the stream you can catch the start on replay on our YouTube channel um
at Tealtown USA uh how are we in brief feeling about the Simon Wong
it’s a reach but I get it it’s a reach i don’t love it
i don’t love it but it’s fine don’t love it and there’s your boy Ian Carter Amo
mhm i’m Wow i’m surprised Amo went this high he’s another guy right like I kind of thought like in that 50 in the 50 range but like Carter Amo again he injuries obviously a concern here definitely a project um but I mean uh Connor Clifton has been traded to Pittsburgh so there’s the trade of the ages i like Carter Ramico i just I think again Hi but I think when like again like there’s not a lot of consensus uh in this range so I think you’re there’s going to be a lot we’re going to say that a lot
yeah there’s
there is no consensus after pick like two in this draft i feel like every team has its own draft board um Pittsburgh’s on the clock this is also taking obnoxiously long um so we’re already seeing a bunch of trades like this is what I actually thought was going to happen in the 20s range yesterday i’m kind of glad it didn’t given how long the draft was to begin with or round one was to begin with um the the team certainly were allotted a lot of time to make trades in between picks yesterday um but here we are
the timer doesn’t exist oh is there another trade oh my god is this the Connor Clifton into Pittsburgh can we boo Bill Daily also at this point what are we doing just do we have to announce every trade like Yes um so I’m I’m trying to Jesus so Connor Clifton pick 39 to the Pittsburgh Penguins buffalo receives Connor Timonss and Isaac Belle oh Bellevo
belu thank you interesting interesting oh they select Payton KDs that’s such a Kyle Dubis pick i personally love that Spence finally went but it wasn’t the Spence we thought yeah why how is he falling so much i do actually want to talk about the Jordan Spence trade i freaking love Jordan Spence um I think that he was the odd man out merely because Grant Clark is a vastly better defenseman of the same skill set and size um but I am a little surprised that they only got a third and a six for him i thought Spence could have pulled a second here and there goes the guy that I thought would go to Carolina at 29 last night Jack Myrtle
oh yeah i remember you saying that uh Carolina is now on the clock um Rebankan question mark i’m joking i mean they might it’s a very Carolina pick carolina is clearly not going Malcolm Spence here because they’ve already had two or three opportunities
draft them although Although if you pick a bunch of players that you think are higher and like Malcolm Spence is sitting there maybe
yeah maybe oh I bet you Carolina trades down again probably at this rate i think they’ve I just don’t think anyone likes this draft like I think GMs were just not a fan of this draft
i I I don’t either
like and you just have to pick people right um I’m curious like how many of these guys actually pan out and if this draft ends up being one of the better ones but yeah that’s what I’m saying pat this scream is for Rebecca i can’t pronounce that kid’s name i’m so sorry guys um
who are we looking at
uh Rebankin for Carolina
oh Rykin
rapkin i keep calling him Rebank i’m never going to get that right um
well we’re now in that range by the way i know you guys asked me last night would you rate Ravensburg over and Dranov yes
yeah i mean look at Ravensburgen was the like again you know when you look at the when you look at the scouting services all the like he was the top ranked goalie pretty consistently across the board from from all the major scouting services uh I think that Andreanov well his numbers in the NHL are absolutely goddy um it’s it’s it was a reach
finally wait to who ducks are trading Gibson
wow
no well I was going to say we’re about to get a run on goalies but that was not what I meant cuz Folvant Medv’s coming here soon but
Gibson into the Red Wings
i like that i like that oh I love that holy good job Red Wings that’s great they did need to I
The Red Wings have so many goalies but they need to like package three of them for one better one so it’s a it’s a good move for them
get Look I I really like this for I mean Steve Eisermanman sucks now um he’s apparently he loves this format he wants to put the red line back in hockey like if you want bad hockey opinions ask Steve Eerman however this is a really good move for the Red Wings who um have been languishing in that just almost there but not quite forever um and if John Gibson it’s going to be interesting right because obviously John Gibson’s a guy who I think I used to think really really highly of and it’s going to be interesting to see what’s still in the tank there did um Anaheim just completely tank Gibson’s value
a little but two what two picks are we talking here because that’s that’s going to depend on my next reaction
they they did but um one thing that I think people aren’t realizing because
it is kind of the how did you do for me lately league yes
i think people are a bit stuck on Gibson um burning out the Hang on i want to see what this pick is okay
are they gonna go Malcolm Spence is he still playing
okay so um Gibson had these brilliant first halves and then completely burned out the second half last year that did not happen now he played far fewer minutes obviously backing up Lucas Dustall but John Gibson had his like he had like a 912 save percentage in a league that averaged under 900 if I’m not mistaken so John Gibson showed that you know the Ducks don’t give up 55 shots a game
um he could still very well perform so I’m I’m I’m happy to see this i think this might be the the trade announcement Ron Gibson yeah they probably I’m curious to hear the picks for that trade
oh this is the Spence announcement oh my god wang is good friends with Raven dude we’re drafting the power of friendship at this point jesus Christ um another islander is uh Denil Para Porov
Porov okay yeah right silent care Russians man
can can the sharks make a trade please like everyone’s making trades you want to join in on that sharks please
they don’t need to yeah I But I want Chaos
mano
Morazzic and two draft picks i’m curious if it’s like seconds or I’m assuming so right we’re like I like it
so for now Cam Talbot will not bounce over to his 15th team um I actually I don’t know i’m going to ask you guys this what would you think about trading for Cam Talbet you know trading cheap but trading for Cam Talbot to pair with Escarov next year
it’s fine i mean that’s really when you look at the free agent market and you look at like who’s kind of available there’s just this homogeneous blob of goalies that are basically the same whether you’re going in free agency or you’re looking at a trade for guys that you know I think for a team like Detroit again where you’re where you’re looking at who they want to get rid of some goalies obviously now because John Gibson’s going to be the guy there so yep malcolm Spence just went 43 to the Rangers good pick for the Rangers detroit’s now on the clock oh sorry guys um just looking at some defenseman’s left on the board k I think Kettles was taken but yeah there’s

there’s a few guys that are still available um we’ll see what they do there’s the Sherks pick here is coming up at 54 right
i don’t really like left on Yeah 53 i don’t really like what’s left like a lot of the guys that I think I would still kind of look at they’re Oh I think they’re still left shot D which is fine again you
figure it out later
i want to see the Sharks i want to see Ger Package as many picks as possible
yeah I just at this point want him to stop drafting in this
draft up or up or out like Mark said it on the draft preview show that it’s time to go for the the core value you know the core players the the the the best uh skilled players for this team now we already got the quantity with Miss Key and Roberts and Law back and my Downey and dude the Sharks are going to just have a giant development camp just all giants um do we have another trade oh my god or is this the Morazzic announcement oh no I think you guys are ahead of me on the direction i’m sorry guys thrron is basically gone at this point yeah I would not be surprised to see Thronaded for a draft pick here in the next few hours
ian I’ll be devastated ian loves Henry right it’s super devastated
um absolutely that are still on the board that I kind of had looked um that I had circled um
I I think Kurban Limitav is an interesting guy again another left shot but I think of the defenseman left on the board that are he’s the only one that really sticks out to me um
yeah he’s a guy that I was I know I don’t think Kevin you don’t like Leov right
nope but the thing is is I think he I think that he um relates very similarly to Simon Wong so um I think his uh puck skill sucks and I don’t know about Wong’s sense but I’ve heard that Limitov doesn’t have hockey sense so I guess he’d be perfect with Sam Dickinson who doesn’t have much hockey sense he didn’t go jesus Kevin oh we uh really got taller in the last few picks a
So my highest available is the complete opposite it’s 5 foot7 Cameron Schmidt
oh I like him but I just appar GMs are going back to size it feels like
Yeah oh yeah the Florida Panthers ruined the league
yeah the Florida Panthers ruined the league league i have said it for 15 20 years the Sharks will win a cup when they stop chasing the league and start setting the example yep
so the Sharks need to figure out like I I think Rear was on the right track with trying to do something what was that brandon in the chat says 57 in skates
oh man woo
oh boy
all right bro i believe it that’s like Roco Grimaldi sometimes he’s 5’8 sometimes he’s 54 gibson trade call not done yet but no salary retained according to LeBron so that was interesting that That’s fun i love trades trades are fun
trades are fun and you know what else is fun the Sharks to pick a right-handed defenseman but I don’t think there’s any really worth picking right now
um and two picks not this season
go just went oh solid pick for Utah yeah I’ve liked what Utah’s done so far this draft um
I remember they had a good draft last year they traded for Sergeev and Marino last year i like and I just I love I love Caleb Doy for them you just love Caleb Doier point blank
i do like Caleb Doy a lot but I do I but I I I like I think it’s such a good fit for what they have though
oh 100% because they’re looking for like the second line center um Vancouver on the clock any fun things no no no
and I’m going to ask you this because I thought
I thought Utah needed Martone i think they need both Martone and Doyer but I thought they needed Martone more because they needed uh a winger not named Lawson Krauss who is taller than six feet
yes
um they’re extremely small on the wings oh there goes Metab oh
okay this is my second favorite goalie of the draft this guy they’ve been talking about him for years and years and he was a backup goalie for London this year
yeah but he oozes talent his his uh reflexes and um u reaction times there this is a real nice and look it it goes to he goes to Vancouver and uh you know there’s all the questions about Thatcher Demco and uh you know they’re going to have to do something with Sheilovs after uh two incredible playoff performances in consecutive years but they’ve signed Lanin in for like five years so like they need to get someone else in the pipeline and this is a nice nice pickup for Vancouver
i do i like it a lot um back to your question though um yeah I don’t it’s hard right cuz I think I agree like they’re small like outside of Lawson Krauss i know they they just got JJ Purka too um I still think you need like big centers to win yeah you do
oh they they they had that need also
yeah not wrong sharks
and I think it’s easier to get it’s easier to get a winger than a center
which is why I think you take Okay
d there
all right yui got me there i Yeah that’s a good point
uh then Sagi just went to the Flyers i think the Flyers are having a really good second round
just a really good draft in general um no their first day was saved by Porter Martone
yeah but like their second round is pretty going pretty good right now yeah that that one pick was really
the Nesbit was a bit high
that was a that was super high
yeah the Nesbit trade or sorry the Nesbit pick yesterday made me think well uh they need to replace Shan Coutureier although who knows maybe Couture will stick around now that um Tordella is gone
yeah yeah who knows it’s going to be interesting to see what happens uh in Philly because again like Tordella grinds guys down we’ve seen that all through all his stops it was such a weird fit for him too like I feel like John Tordellis to me is the guy you bring in to squeeze that last little bit out of a out of a aging out core and then you fire him before it gets That’s like that to me is John Tordella like Philly never made sense for me with John Tordella because it that team was not going anywhere fast um you could squeeze a little bit out of you could squeeze a little bit more out of that team and I think John Cordella teams have generally outperformed where you think they’re going to perform but when you’re the Flyers is that really what you want you want to outperform you want to be you know you want to be the uh you know like the the 19th place team in the league charlie Sorado the Kane’s finally made a pick
sharks pick is coming up in three for uh 53 um oh man I haven’t I haven’t even gotten him on my board yet charlie Sorado yeah 99 oh oh
yeah toella equals the break glass in case of emergency coach that’s that’s my that’s my take on him at this point
did he get hired again i don’t know right no yeah that’s what I thought
he he there was a lot of talk that that Philly was going to be his last coaching stop like he cuz he said like you know he doesn’t he can’t do this forever obviously but coaches say they’re going to retire all the time and then they coach for another hundred years
um so who is left for the Sharks okay Charlie Serado by the way got to love Sports Logic it’s like ranked 99th 91st 97th 94th blah blah blah overall 44 what anyway um
makes no sense
sado was that a kid when we were watching Lobach with Penn State’s deep run in the NCAA tournament sorado was a guy going out there and doing everything like kind of overachieving for his size and skill set so I’m very it’s a very curious pick because he kind of reminds me of Ethan Cardwell like that guy who you look at him and you go “That guy’s a top prospect but then you know you watch him more and more you go oh yeah he’s you know he’s damn good
he’s exactly what you want.”
Yeah I love that guy he’s one of my favorite players man like I think he gets it it’s going to be hard because again like I think you you when you look at the lineup depending on what they do with Misa if they’re you know I’m fascinated to see what Misa does this summer cuz he did say like he wants to make the Sharks but obviously like if he’s you know if he but if he doesn’t if he does you know because there is talk of him going to a college program um but obviously once you make that choice like the playing in the NHL is to start the seasons out so yeah
it’s it’s going to be fascinating man because again like it’s it’s it’s for for him at least for this year coming up it’s the Sharks or Sagena if you don’t go to college so
all right so let’s talk about this um let’s say what what would you rather see the Sharks have next year for a roster would you rather see Michael Misa on the team taking up you know in a top six role or do you want to try and bring in another veteran like Tyler Tofoley to continue to help nurture the the youngsters we already have on this roster it’s hard because I don’t like Muel Wenberg as a 2C
uh Alex Wenberg
yes what am I What am I Wenberg guys you’re here folks i’m just going to make up different names for people
dang you you you’re calling him vodka 2.0 that’s not 2.0 no but I I like I but again like but at least you you have that flexibility where you can kind of like put Misa up put Misa down depending on where they put it you could put him on the wing i I want the Sharks to focus more on putting somebody beside uh Sam Dickinson yes
that should be the that should be priority one is figure out who the is going to play with Sam Dickinson this year
and I think that is entirely the genesis of the Mark Edward Blic buyout because look this defense group needed needs change and needs players and and you know
um I think I may have already talked about it with you Ian but if you’re not um you know Mario Ferraro ain’t it for pairing him with Sam Dickinson vinnie Dehar ain’t it like
no like Vic wasn’t going to be it like
and I don’t think you can pair him with um
what’s his name that I hate
lukamad
no the um the guy they got from Toronto Lagrin
oh yeah no no no no no no no yeah but look look at the the Sharks best drafted best developed defenseman in the last you know you know existence basically you had Mark Edward Blastic who did they bring in they brought in Rob Blake for him yep
who did they bring in for Brad Stewart they brought in Gary Sudter like those are the types of veteran good you know two-way veteran players to pair and nurture uh your prized defensive prospects along
um real quick depending on who Minnesota here takes Kristen Eper will would still be available to the Sharks at 53 eper’s an interesting one i like Chris Epson a lot again there there’s more there’s more bias again we’ll have our biases my bias is obviously going to be guys I’ve seen play more cuz I can be like “Yeah I’ve had that wow moment right?”
Um
thing to remember though that is a D+1 pick so you are picking him in his second draft not his first so he’s an older he is an older player that did have a really good season um
really good i mean even before like obviously like him Misa and Sherneshov were silly but he was really good before Sherneshave got there
yeah trying to see who else is available i I I can’t even guess because whoever I guess they’re just going to do that or like jokingly say that they’re going to take um Minnesota now the clock uh also I do think there has ever been back in the day I would say um even was 100% okay what am I reading here okay also I do think if there was ever back in the day I would say I would want the shark to make the sharks even if I wasn’t 100% there like Smith a young team who needs help I’d try to be there Yeah look at I think I think Michael Misa is going to want to try and make that team out of camp um the thing the thing with Michael Misa too is uh Michael Misa is an exceptional status player so he started playing junior hockey a year earlier um than everyone else so he even if he goes back to Sagena this year he could be on the Barracuda next year uh or the Sharks obviously um the Barracuda would be an option next year because of the exceptional stats he’s put four years in and you can usually get teams will usually let a guy go you saw that with the um with the Seattle Kraken and Shane Wright uh they got Shane Wright out of junior year early and allowed him to start playing in the AHL um so that’s that’s something to keep in mind too um not that I think that Michael Mis would have to spend a ton of time in the AHL but um I I don’t I don’t think you should ever rule it out and be like “Oh if he has to go to the HL first then what the have we done?”
Real quick Sharks are on the clock right now um I don’t know i’m going to stop guessing because I think I jinx the Sharks this year so I don’t know
was it Pat last night saying Ivan Kovic cause more chaos jack draft all the goalies no let’s not we can’t no
I don’t know who they’re going to take um yeah the Sharks are not a playoff team next year i don’t think I don’t think that’s too crazy for me to say
um
I I think like with with like like I think it’s the same thing with with Sam Dickinson right i think you keep all your options on the table you let him let him start if he can hack it you then you adjust right i think Sam Dickinson you give him every chance to prove that he can’t play in the NHL for sure and you’ll do the same with Misa
um before the Sharks make their pick here um I I do low-key want them to go get a second line like at least someone not Wenberg for a second line center
yeah yeah unfortunately we’ve gotten this deep into the and normally in a normal year second round like you could you might be able to pull something you know a couple of picks to get a second round pick at in this year’s draft with this depth you’re you’re gonna have to package like your entire rest of your draft pool to get a second round pick even with 53 Shane Wright is is far from an example of success though i don’t I think again like the the thing is again and this is why I always like I always kind of like try and caution people right like it’s like They’re they’re prospects for a reason they’re not sure things and they they everyone doesn’t reach their
Oh I should have put it out there who
i I I almost said maybe they just go Cole McKini here and that’s exactly what I should have said
wait why do I kind of like that pick huh i don’t mind that i’m I’m not upset actually not horribly cole McKenna was ranked 51 by Elite Prospects uh a trustworthy 37 by Bob McKenzie
yeah a trustworthy two-way bottom six center projection who outworks almost anyone he’s capable he’s a capable play connector and offers a physical netfront presence with a scoring threat yeah uh I mean it’s it’s this you I like it
i don’t mind this pick that’s a nice highlight package they’re showing of him oh
that was a really nice highlight package i like it um I I like it a lot right another another center um but again like like you know um ranked a lot of people had them it’s there’s like a lot of 30s to 50s um here range but like a lot of people had them pretty high consolidated ranking uh on elite prospects was 30 um was the average that most people had them i It’s a good pick
i think Yeah I think if they Yeah led all uh ND NDTP skaters
it wasn’t a great year for the NDTP though but not that I’m trying to poo poo the pick but I’m just I I do want to stress it was not a great year for the N DTP uh going to University of Michigan
yeah solid program
yes 100% i just woke up uh to a fire alarm test no less see that we in in fact drafted Wang so there’s that we joked about it last night and it did come to fruition so
So the Shark’s next pick isn’t until 90 um unless Greer does his natural third round thing and trades up
don’t trade um but I uh yeah I dig it i like it yeah I like Kenny unless you’re unless you’re going like trying to get Ryobkin but like
I don’t see the Sharks
i don’t see it happening i honestly just want them to trade all their other picks in this draft it’ be a really short show tomorrow
yeah there you go um trade call for Gibson is done yeah people really like the Cole McKini pick i really like that pick i dig it i really like that pick
um that lowkey makes up for the wing pick a tad
what are we going to do with our decor we’re going to They’re going to fix it in other ways
yeah they’re not going to I don’t This draft was not the draft to fix your decor unless you got Matthew Schaefer there’s a defenseman and I just I was looking his name is uh Charlie T damn even for me it’s hard
truth
is that what it is i thought it was Trewaye but it might be Treway
i don’t actually know i just I recognized that so anyway I was thinking oh I could see him going at the next pick and for the Sharks and now I just looked up and he is going to Boston University next year
oh yeah he’s 196
so now yeah if a team doesn’t uh nab him first you are a San Jose Shark
i mean he Oh my god actually I don’t think he falls to 90 i think uh Greer would need to trade up to get him right there
oh my light just died so if my lighting is more trash than it normally is I’m sorry
i think it’s again I think it’s fine i don’t think like I think Jules said it best like this you this wasn’t the draft to solve all your D problems it was never going to happen and I’m not and I don’t like the way middle of your decor a little bit like you could fix like the bottom end of your decor I think draft but um this unless you got Schaffer there was no fixing the top end of your
and that was some of the like I saw some of the comments in the chat from last night’s first round
uh stream and we were screaming about get Blake Fedler and everything like that and then some of the comments were like but that guy’s like no better than a four or five defenseman and it’s like yeah we we understand that but that was the level of the back end of the first round that’s how lacking depth this draft is this year so like I was looking at who I wanted the Sharks to pick at 33 and there was like four names there mckenna was actually one of them where I’d be fine if he went 33 like Cole McKini
I would have been fine like I think if you flick Mckini and Wang it’s not a bad outcome right if McKenna goes 33 and Wang goes 53
i don’t even It’s It’s like It reminds me of one of the drafts where was it
yeah like if you flip those picks around
if you flip those picks around no one is mad
was it Hav and Bordaloo
no it was Hav and Cameron Lond
oh and Philip Beast it was Beasted i think people were saying that if you flip
around no it was Hav and Cameron Lond You would flip and if you flip those no one gives a
i think yeah it’s like if you took Cole McKenna at 33 I don’t think anyone’s mad at you for that pick like he was projected to go a little in that range i love that pick like I’m like that’s a really I He’s one of the guys I didn’t think would be available to the Sherks and I didn’t think they were necessarily going to pick him at 33 cuz they would go D um but yeah uh Murka could be a second liner but yeah besides Yeah Murka listen like again when I say bottom when I say bottom of I’m talking your bottom four i’m talking your three four five six
is what you you could fix in this draft i just don’t think you’re outside of Schaefer you’re not getting a one two in this draft that’s that’s all I’m saying i think Redeem Murk is the second best defenseman in this draft but the thing of it is that Redeem Murka does not play a sexy game or a game that’s going to jump out at you he plays the uh what you say like the type the the right way of playing defense which is he’s unnoticeable in every game but he’s very effective at his job
best way of playing defense
like I mean he’s not Jacob Slavven but like that’s the style of game he plays that he just
goes about his business and doesn’t get scored on um GM we’re not drafting for whatever other people might think that yeah that was I really like that quote from Ger yesterday i don’t know who ever watched Gers Presser um who’s trading up is my main question
oh and it’s and it’s true right and it’s and that’s the way it should be obviously again like
I I you know I said this kind of at the top of this show there’s a lot of really loud voices in this
Vegas is trading up sorry yeah so 58 and 122 for 55 so you’re already seeing like you know not much value just to move up three spots like there a lot of throwaway picks coming here uh in these late rounds greer calling out Reddit the The thing I’ve noticed with Greer is like his drafting is like his last two drafts were really good this year I think that honestly this is is weird i don’t know or the draft class is weird class
i think it might be the draft class but like you look at the depth of this draft class there’s not much vegas trading up with I think the Pred um curious what Vegas does here
um is
Do you like Zver Dickinson i like like look it I I I when when the draft pick happened I was I was all in on Z William but now I mean what do you What’s like I love Sam Dickinson now like I think either player would have been a great pick there um they’re like they what do you want like you you have in a guy like Z William won college you have a guy in Sam Dickinson won the OHL won the Memorial Cup like they’re they’ve both done just awesome things um and I think that like I like I don’t know I like Sam Dickinson now like I that’s that’s the guy we have right so I mean we can cry in the club about Zeke Buham forever but like I don’t know i think we got a really good player um and I’m fine with it
i think there’s always going to be the comparison between the two right um
there has to be yeah like there’s always going to be the comparison um look honestly and I said this I I don’t remember if I said this last year but the fact that both of them were available to us is kind of just like stupid um right because none of us I did not think that going in that either of those guys would be available um at least Greer didn’t channel his inner Doug Wilson and traded away the second overall pick for something this is the question of the ages is this Vegas pick going to be used to get McDavid
100%
probably probably this is their first pick right of the draft
yes yeah 100% um also like with this draft like I said there’s no consistency whatsoever like everyone’s board is completely different you know what I mean oh yeah absolutely i mean there’s I mean for us it’s going to be there’s no rhyme or reason for any but I mean this I think has more potential than any draft in recent memory for guys in what you’d consider like the top 100 on a lot of draft boards and I mean like a lot of guys in the top 100 on draft boards to not even go this year like I remember last year it was like Thomas Galvas was a projected top 50 pick and he’s available again this year um Sharks don’t pick here for a while so I’m interested
sharks are Hey just got here can you restate your thoughts on Wayne kind of into it but unsure to i I don’t love it i don’t love it at the pick where I don’t love it where they took him i don’t super love the pick um but again like I don’t have I am not a scout and I and I have to stress this a lot because I I just I’m not right so I think the shark saw something there i think he intrigues me a little bit because I he skates really well for a big like big players generally don’t skate well it’s
and I think you can you can work on the rest it’s a raw talent i mean the sharks it’s it’s it’s a project um and I don’t feel like the Sharks have a good track record of projects so it’s it’s it’s a it’s a risky pick um there’s probably safer picks on the board but I I’m it’s fine whatever
i will say if there’s any draft to swing for the fences it might be this one just because of the unpredictability of this draft but also I’ve said this before like Greer values high-end skaters especially in his D man look at who he drafted Leo Selenius last year skates like the wind sam Dickinson skates like the wind um Luca Kegnoni can skate till the wind like there’s a trend here with who he wants as a defenseman right really good skater really good mobility um it it’s I think if it was flipped again with him and McKini I think people would be less upset that’s all I’m saying but the fact that you took him at 33
yeah if you flip those picks I’m fine with it and it would be it would be it would be better yeah where’s a good pickup for Philly matthew Guard
oh I love that again Philly’s having a really good day too so I was uh on perusing the Ducks Twitter because I was curious to see there thank you John Gibson nah there’s nothing it’s just about acquiring Peter Morazzic so apparently f John Gibson um hey it’s all right man i I’m a Gibson guy always have been always will be but while looking at that more Roger McQueen Disneyland cuz I can’t get enough of it and apparently he went to Cars Land and took photos next to Lightning McQueen and there’s a nickname born for your new draft pick right there roger Lightning McQueen it the story writes itself i love it
that is a plus for
I realize that we are a Sharks podcast and you guys want me to shut up but uh I love it uh what about Cole people say I’m I’m happy i like I like the pick i think again there’s so little consensus uh this late i like the I like the player um from what I can see again I I think it’s if you reverse the order of the picks I I probably probably don’t have any bones to pick i think it’s a I think it’s value pick at 53 where the Sharks got him
yes
100%
agreed ivan Kovich just went to Nashville so they got their uh replacement for Escar off
there you go
good pick i was surpris I thought they were gonna I was I thought they were going to go goalie early on
i thought they were going with Ravensburg
yeah yeah that’s what I was at too
i was I was surprised that the Sharks got him i like Iva Kovic uh he’s he’s good uh from Steven Ellis Cole McKini mckini was one of the top uh UNDP player top forwards all year long and he was uh and he was also one of the most aggressive mckini is midsize two-way center who can play on the penalty kill block shots and win a ton of faceoffs that’s important
u McKini is also not afraid to land a big hit to channel some energy
yeah yeah uh point-ame player for the US development program too
yeah uh I’m really excited for the prospect scrimmage it’ll be
Me too yeah yeah me too
it’ll be fun seeing these guys like it’ll be fun seeing Dickinson Shernes and Misa together i’m going to keep harping on that off everyone um you know I know it may not translate but I do want to see them together at the Prospect Scrimmage uh sponsor uh
have you guys not They just announced the John Gibson trade which got a bit of buzz there at the Peacock Theater have you guys noticed nobody’s trading 2026 picks they are all 2027 picks yeah uh is the violent guy still available dave Badowowski
david Badowski was like
no he’s I think according to Elite Prospects he was like the most violent player in this year’s draft and uh we were watching film on him last night on the Discord
um yes I think David Bowski is still available for those of you
yeah I haven’t seen his name come up here so
if they take him at 95 I think we might have to do a life check on Pat okay I wanted to actually address this uh Wor Softi taking 200 ft center ice transition i mean look at all the centers the Sharks have they’re all 200 foot centers Celibbrini Mesa Beaststead a stop Chuck will put a pin on that mckini you know what I mean like they’re all 200 foot centers okay I do want So who does Misa play with next year celebr Misa Smith and then
I wonder if you do something like where you where you put Celebrity Smith um together and then maybe you put
Misa well I was going to say Misa Wenberg and then maybe Eklund on that line too uh because then you have a guy who can come in and because look at the one thing about the one thing about centers when they first enter the NHL they generally always get killed in the dot um even like even the best centers like Sydney Crosby got absolutely massacred in the dot his first year and then he worked on it all summer and he was better uh Celibbrini had some trouble in the dot this year so maybe you don’t put you maybe you don’t want me there maybe you and you want a guy who can come in and take a draw so I wonder if you put him with a guy like Muel Wenberg if he makes the team out of camp and then
Muel Wenberg again
i’m Muel Wenberg alice Wenberg i don’t know why he’s in my brain i don’t know why he’s Mikuel in my brain i don’t What the my problem today oh my god that’s awesome will Smith is not a center no I think they just keep him i don’t think he’s in the NHL either but um it’s too soon to to to
to say he isn’t for sure
i just think you keep him with Cabbrini like you have the lux like yes you want to develop him at center and like sure give him some reps there but he has the chemistry with Cabbrini and now you have Misa who I think maybe fits better in that 2C position than a Will Smith does i just think
I just I like I agree i don’t know if Will Smith’s center i just think it’s too it’s way too early to be like “Nope Michael Misa is it and and Will Smith is definitely not it could it could e it could very easily go the other way.”
Oh for sure um Sharks needs to draft Male Wineberg for Ian
yes I need a Muel Weenberg on the team so I can stop doing this let’s Let’s Let’s Maybe they’ll bring Male Wenberg what the
i am now prospect [Laughter] i don’t know why my brain is broken
ian are you okay
all right
there is one Muel Wenberg registered in Elite Prospect um he was born in 1966 so that might be a problem
yeah that’s that’s a problem
he last played in 1987 for overcision two
oh my god in Sweden
maybe we should maybe we should bring back Alex Granland great um the that’s too funny
that’s good yes we should bring back uh we should bring back Alex Granlin for sure
can we bring back Alex Gran i’d love that
um broke Ian’s brain lol oh Rebacon just went to Carolina
that’s a very Carolina pick
c uh Damore in the chat here saying Cabbrini had the best faceoff win rate for a rookie in forever and it was still only 48 friends exactly my point yeah 65 is the new 30 yeah pat congrats bud you knew it
you got it man
you got it buddy
hello pup pup
how’s the dog Ian good see if I can
Oh man
how was the midnight walk yesterday
it was good he enjoyed it i need I was like I was like my legs felt like they were uh Oh who’s here
give me a second Rebecca
that was cute though so Riabkin comes walking up to the draft uh stage with a big gold chain
oh
around his neck don Cherry is uh just flipping out right now everybody um but shirt like top two buttons unbuttoned and every Okay man but uh
can we get a trade i want something chaotic to happen the Sharks have acquired Muel Wenberg for Alex
oh my god um also quick promo again we’re doing um we’re doing shows on tomorrow night we’ll recap the draft and then we’re also doing uh yes this is Toronto’s first pick and then we’re also doing a free agency live stream on Tuesday i don’t know the time for that yet we’ll do probably some sort of recap also for that um and yeah so stick around um is SCTP also live right now no way i’m sure Hockey Guy and us are the only crazy ones trying at 9:00 a.m in the goddamn morning
and I was up at like 2 a.m last night so Jules is uh running on no sleep
so I I gonna um fill some time here and talk about Cole McKini a bit from the elite prospects guide here so one scout says that he relates a lot to Vinnie Trochek from the Rangers who I think is still an underappreciated forward uh no matter what team he bounces around to another scout uh says um he probably goes between 23rd and 32nd 23rd and 32nd yeah that’s if the Sharks take him at 31 none of us are complaining
yeah so I mean they got him at 53 so I do think despite his really impressive highlight package that they put up on on the broadcast I do think he relates more to being a uh a defensive center um you know a bottom six center but you know maybe you get a a Chris Tyranny out of him
that would be nice
so yeah I like it i have I feel like Eric Landy wherever he’s at would uh freaking love this pick right now
oh Landy would love absolutely love this pick um the hockey guy lost his computer what also 122 of you are watching this oh boy the draft must be really boring that a come now thank you for joining us thank you for I’m joining i’m joining
i’m joking i’m joking uh thank you for joining us um I thought we were going to have 20 people in here because we went live at 9:00 a.m in the morning but you know just the view counts are going down um oh that’s a name i’m not going to pronounce that right but Toronto made a pick oh oh my god no wonder no wonder Bill Dy was having problems with this um I don’t have him written down um but they called him Tinus which I feel like is going to be Tinus if he’s uh Swedish uh Luke Coobblar luke Cobblar that’s a name and a half
oh he’s Norwegian so it probably is Tenis um uh give me four seconds puck i just
He’s uh like I said Norwegian therefore when uh Norway goes to the World Juniors we will probably hear his name a ton because they usually um only have about four players who get mentioned over and over and over in their games but in fact speaking of World Juniors he did have four points in Oh that’s U8 four points in eight games last year okay in internationally uh Chicago Blackhawks are now on the clock this is
Yeah round two is now officially over so um I’m happy to see that only took one hour i mean it usually does and then the And then the the later rounds usually go even faster
go way faster yeah
round Yeah go ahead
no sorry i was fully expecting this to be like a seven hour thing and I’m glad
yeah round three traditionally is the longest round of uh day two um and that’s usually because you see a ton of trades and and and movement and such so we’ll see how this goes here i mean everything is kind of ranked evenly i think at this point the as I mentioned before I think Cameron Schmidt far and away is my highest remaining but he’s uh barely 5’7 as as someone mentioned in the chat 5’7 on skates so um I definitely understand the concern uh with drafting a player with high uh questionability about his translation to the pro game um being drafted in in the first two rounds but um it’s round three and I I say a team needs a swing for him
maybe the Sharks will
I want Greer to trade everything uh that’s left the third have a third fourth and a fifth actually the Sharks still have a lot of picks left so how about a third fourth and a fifth to move up here and uh grab Schmidt oh my god i don’t even know who’s left in this draft like besides Schmidt that I’m like worth it
limatov’s still on the board that would be an interesting one
trethi Trathway is still on the board
um uh Eper you mentioned um yeah the D+1 might make him fall a bit though but but it won’t um the Sharks don’t have a problem with drafting D+1 players
no they don’t they typically do that in the fifth though yeah and plus with the both the Sagenoth Spirit Connection and the Denver Connection um as he is transferring from Sagenoth to Denver next year
100% my girls pick him at 96 if he’s
a thousand% uh you just want the sharks to trade that so you don’t we don’t have to sit through another six hours um we are ending the stream at 12:15 Pacific no matter what happens i don’t think I’m going to make it more than the next few picks i
You’re
my voice is struggling guys i’m trying to hang on here um but I do appreciate everybody who’s been watching and chiming in on our chat nathan Beam’s a good pick for Chicago i think I have them like that again at this point like my list just emulates uh the a consolidation of a few um few sources um and then I’ll do the rest of my studying postdraft but I did have BM third highest on my board remaining
thank you to the 115 of you watching on this Saturday of the NHL draft all right hey Ian I have wanted to ask you about this player for a bit because I know or at least I think we both really like him but I did not see him um being available at 30 whatsoever and that’s Bill Zanon who went to Pittsburgh yesterday like how did you feel about that fit oh Ian you’re muted oops uh yeah I like it i uh I had um I I I liked him like if this if he was on the board at 30 I would have loved for the Sharks again the the the Pittsburgh Penguins have had a really weird draft this year considering where they’re at as a franchise um but like that’s probably to me the highlight of their draft class so far yeah I do i I I liked the trade up for Will Horov i just I did not expect it to be Pittsburgh weirdly weirdly I thought it would have been Detroit but that usually you don’t see a team where their father works in the brass unless you’re Chris Draper drafting his son but I digress um yeah but um I I I agree with you i think the Zon pick was um fantastic for them at 22 i think it’s right in the range he should have gone yeah yeah 100%
but um really liked that pick seems like are we trading here what’s taking so long la showing a plethora of family connections who’s out there at N dude I at this point it’s too early for me to tell who’s out there at 95
i have no idea man that
like at this point it’s lowkey a guessing game like when we get closer I’ll take a look again I mentioned Eper i mentioned Treway could be a guy david Bowski there’s names out there are they great eekes but we’ll find out eperson’s probably my top choice right now
branco Ratavoic’s kid is in the draft and I expect him to go around round four naturally someone’s going to take him round three just to piss off Kevin
ian please tell me you remember Branco because I know Jules has is like
no clue i was probably two when he was in the NHL
yeah I probably was do we have a trait here what is
who is the largest defenseman still available oh my god i don’t know
who’s committed to Boston what was the guy you were saying was committed to yeah
um Tre Treeway
yeah treway yeah is he not available though i thought or I don’t know man
i think we have a trade here is my best bet because this pick is taking about a and west
are we taking bets on who’s uh moving up moving
sharks
sharks
my bet is on the shark i just I just want them to pick I want them to get rid of all their picks right now
maybe the islanders okay are we going to take another six hours yeah we are cute awesome lovely hello [Music] all right we uh you were closer than I was it’s Charlie Treway
treth okay i thought you were talking about the trade i was like “Huh?”
Oh okay charlie Trethway
treth yeah uh Ian you mentioned uh Steve Eisermanerman uh wants to have no fun yeah last year at the uh at the draft I was uh working my way over to meet up with our old friend Keegan McN shout out to Keegan um outside of Sphere and the entire Detroit front office came out the door and I attempted to greet them uh until I realized they all looked completely miserable and unhappy and didn’t want to talk to anybody so I just went “Hello my Okay and I just stepped away and they walked right on by without even looking at me so uh I was like “Okay cool.” And he’s I don’t know man like great player right like amazing player obviously but like I don’t like some of his takes man are just they’re off like this is not good this is bad
have acquired pick 67 from LA for picks 125 and a 2026 third round pick i wondered if the Canes would but the thing is the Canes always trade down not up so it’s very strange seeing the Canes trade wait yeah it’s the Kane yeah
all right i’m waiting for Mike Greer’s natural um natural trade up in the third round because he always does that it’s like every single draft he’s like decides to trade up in the third round uh Jules needs a hit well luckily they have 95 and then 115 so that’s 115 is the farthest I’ll probably go depending on how Oh look at that so um the player that New Jersey drafted at 63rd is was born in Fairfield and uh and then also played for the uh De Mo Buccaneers in the I believe that’s the USHL and that’s where uh our old pal Eric Grunfast who used to work for the the Barracuda he works there now so couple of Bay Area connections there with Ben Kevin or Kavon I’m not sure uh Jules did you end up making it to Taco Bell last night
no I ended up uh going straight back to the hotel and ended up on a Discord call till 1:30 in the morning
oh that’s right i forgot I was on that call you joined at like 1:00 a.m yeah I I uh got done re-watching parts of uh last night’s Tetown USA stream which you can as well on replay on our YouTube channel
want to see the best photo ever i jumped on Discord Discord and saw eight people still chatting at 12:45 in the morning so I jumped in and uh we all were I want to show you guys this the funniest screenshot that uh Marty got oh no kevin knows where I’m going
give me a second i’m going to upload it um
if you missed last night’s stream um our very very initial thoughts about Ravensburg being drafted at 30th overall oh yeah it was it was hilarious i’m going to upload it and show people no all right kurban Limatov just went to Carolina i guess that Russian connection with Alexander Nikesian so for those of you who missed last night’s stream
I’m surprised he fell this far
yeah I am too i really am ian of course it’s also Carolina um real quick this was our reaction to when the Sharks picked the goalie [Laughter] oh man for those of you who are listening if we’re are we doing an audio only stream as well
not for this not for this okay all right well then you you got to be watching to see it so yeah no the uh for that’s the recap will be on the uh on the podcasters but this is
the initial thoughts ian and I and I think maybe Jules but Ian and I for sure warmed up to it once we got over the initial shock
yeah I did
i’m fine with it now yeah I like it i just had to get over the initial heartbreak that the Sharks gave me because I literally if you listen back to it I literally joke watch them take that guy
yeah you So you you said watch it be Ravensburgen or something yeah and before that you said if the Sharks go Simon Wong here I’m going to be so pissed off
dude I know and then they took they end up taking both of those kevin looks like Wait hold up what kevin got announced that he is
and I said there’s no way they’re taking Wong at 30 get out of here
well not three picks off uh uh the faces Ian Welp Mark hit what he Kevin Wow jules what the I who uh I feel like this is Jules Booya moment this year um I’ve had a few of those already this year though um yeah Pat fell to his knees i look over and Pat and I think Logan are just like “Oh no what are we doing here boys?” We’re already at pick 69
yay crusher in the chat
wait there’s a third boo jules Boo
oh there’s a third boo yeah Jules heard that i realized I realized what you said but it just looks funny to me side by side there uh funny number yes yes um yeah after sleeping on it I’m totally fine with the pick and I’m just going to take that they picked Cole McKenna at 33 and Simon Wang at 53 54 um whatever the Sharks want to do there is no one at the front row of the Peacock Theater yeah I mean I don’t blame them like the production value is low-key horrid um Petersburg 67 yeah that feels like a that feels like a Ger pick greer pick um we’re not even at the 70s yet yippi um if you guys have questions just throw them in the chat we’ll gladly answer them again we’ll have more consens talking points tomorrow the uh third round really uh I I I said it was the longest round every year but boy it really came to a halt huh
dude what is there another trade like what is happening
yeah I mean we got a full Steve Eisermanman interview and all that and we’ve had one pick since then two picks two picks will Will Reynolds went um yeah this needs to be sped up
cuz at this rank point I’m not sure we’ll even make it to 95 who uh who t who takes me Phillips i I I just want to see him uh say that i don’t know the name reminds me of Manteo oh my god how are Sharks fans coping let’s find out you’re gonna have to Yeah I might yeah I I did ask for a late checkout and they’re like “The latest we can give you is one.” And I was like “Oh boy.” Okay so I have to dip at 12:15 but and I think at by 12:15 we should be done with the third round if we’re not with done with the third round by 12:15 I’m going to have
Oh that would be astonishing that it it Yeah
who are we saying hi to simon Wang he’s very tall is there a Mr irrelevant for the NHL kind of um the thing about the Mr relevant pick this is John Swintenson’s question by the way um thing about Mr relevant in the NHL is there’s for whatever reason generally been some decent success out of the last pick in the in in the sense of the last pick in each NHL draft tends to perform much better than the other sixth and seventh round picks that we see drafted um but I mean you’re not getting a Brock party type situation there in in most cases but Boston is trading uh 69 wait yeah Boston is trading 69 to Montreal for 79 and 108 so I made the Chris Tierney uh comparison to Cole McKini earlier i put that out in the Twitter verse and Drew Weber immediately our good friend Drew Weber did someone say Chris Tierney when I said Eric Landy I should have also mentioned Drew Weber as they are the two uh leaders of the Chris Tyranny fan club tierney had a really good year overseas last year too i forget where he played but can we make a pick please guys what are we doing well there that there was the pick oh that’s a name
aiden Pop Popcus
popcus this draft has the best names i will say that i don’t know i remember a few years ago when Nashville drafted Gunner Wolf Fontaine that one is pretty hard to beat um can M I’m waiting for the Micer trade up i I have a feeling it’s about to happen i don’t know for who maybe David Bowski um uh I wouldn’t I wouldn’t move up for him i know i’m just I I’d get rid of all the picks uh this is a great name yep yep yep uh Rangers are now on the clock oh now it’s going a little faster now can we keep this speed up for the entirety of the draft like let’s not Yeah let’s just pick Canadians with the easy names please yes please let’s not let’s not over complicate it so Kevin what are your free agency predictions for the Sharks who are they oh wow for the Sharks
for the Sharks specific we’re Sharks podcast i’m not going to ask you who who’s Vegas signing for sake
okay I’m gonna have to look up the list here
it’s awful by the way the list so uh this is why I brought up the Cam Talbot trade idea is because to I’m not sold on Jake Allen being paired with uh Ascarov i don’t have high expectations for next season either i think the Sharks will finish around eighth or ninth from the bottom um so you know it really doesn’t matter you want the best goalie to um you know pair with a scarov and and and teach him and everything like that and just be a a good teammate supportive teammate um so maybe Cam Talbot’s not that guy because Cam Talbot um still wants to play number one minutes in the NHL and but I think from a talent talentwise I’d rather go that option than uh Jake Allen because I don’t want to see the Sharks get blown out of games next year still get blown out of games next year in the second half of the season in particular um so I wouldn’t mind a trade option for a goalie rather than uh a signing um but Oh do we lose Kevin oh okay something’s going on on the Uhoh oh are is there another trade is that why this is taking
No no no they’re doing a special Oh
okay okay
so it’s either a kid Oh a kid who was paralyzed in a traffic accident from the Junior Savers see I’m okay with moments like this um breaking up the draft a little bit um so he’s going to be introducing the P71 here
oh that’s awesome that is awesome i will still say the Buffalo Sabres uh reason that they can never win at anything continues to be that they have that horrible logo and need to go back full time to the black silver and red and until that happens
they’re never making the playoffs
they’re never making the playoff cuz their best best most prolific years were with that jersey and even the Buffa slug once they got rid of Buffa slug it was all over oh Alex Tuck pulling out the uh the Mark Wahlberg uh tell your say hi to your father for me all right here’s the pick curious who the Sabers go with hi Ian hello
i think we made it like through five picks since you were gone
oh my goodness well there you go Jules
is it Dave Bowski dude all right let me tell you about this man
he’s the most violent player apparently in the draft according to Elite Prospects and a few of us were watching his highlights on the Discord just it we probably will take some dumb penalties for you but he’s he’s fine he’s He’s violent all right yeah let’s get this going i thought they couldn’t win because my um taxes are too high yeah he’s a giant um he plays very violent and like lowkey will take some dumb penalties oh my stream just froze oh there it is oh nice play there or is that him shooting oh no that’s him shooting my bad see the thing is the thing I don’t like about the NHL draft cover and I get I get it but you get these highlight packages right you’re like “This player no offensive pure defensive defenseman uh defends the rush well he’s got good mobility and then all you see in their highlight package is them scoring.”
Yeah and it’s like what like you see it every single year and I get it because defense isn’t that’s why I said Read Murka for me is the second best defenseman but his highlight package is not going to wow you so let’s show him score the three goals he had last year
right so I saw no violence out of that package for David Bkowski but I will take your word for it Jules
well that’s what Elite Prospect said if you go look Yeah so I man I at this point Noah Reed is a
goals are sexy no oh my god we’re not even halfway through the
It’s fine we’re okay we’re fine everything’s fine um NHL hates defense they want I mean look at what the Sharks are building it’s hard to sell defense
yeah exactly what he wants attention
yeah all right all right all right give me a second
yeah you’re good i want to see if Evan Passmore is Steve Passmore’s kid nope carry on um uh what are we talking about uh we’re talking about David Bkowski and his violence yeah we don’t promote violence on this podcast
shy got drafted according to Marty uh oh we were talking about who um free a which free agents I think what’s your prediction for uh I got to look this up because so my problem was I thought Jacob Trouba would be I know he had a down year but I thought Jacob Trouba would be a great defenseman to pair with with Sam Dickinson next year um unfortunately he still has one year left on his contract with Anaheim so that’s out of the equation i there was rumors there way to or Trethway Treway to Pittsburgh
that’s a very Kyle Dubis pick uh I think is Yoki Haru um is Dante Fabro left or right i’m blank yoki Haru’s a lefty who plays plays the right side
right side yeah
yeah if you’re looking for pure right D it might be Fabro or Eblad i think I I suck with the handness so I’m the wrong person to ask as long as um as long as Eblad doesn’t tell Sam Dickinson what cold medicine to take during the winter um that would be an option so I’m going to make a little prediction here red Wings have backto-back picks 75 and 76 i don’t think they make one of those picks
i think one of them becomes a trade all right oh Gabricov’s still on the Oh yeah so Gabricov I certainly would like to have on the blue line i don’t I don’t know if that’s who I’d pair with Dickinson but I just generally appreciate Vladav Gabriov’s game and wouldn’t mind him uh being on the team but that like TSN’s projecting him to be paid about seven and a half million per year and that’s a bit rich for me h [Laughter] like the new five
if if I get it i get it but like if so this is saying Orlov projects at six i would rather take Orlov than Gabriov if that’s uh that if we’re shelling out the now cap space is of no concern i mean that I I
freaking out about us reaching the floor i would be a bit of a hypocrite uh if I complained about seven and a half for Gabricov when I said Wenberg’s contract’s inconsequential be yes 6 million is an overpayment but you got to pay somebody
so um I like Nate Schmidt but that’s not really the type of defenseman to go with I don’t really see anybody in in Um I don’t see anybody in free agency who really fits the what I think is the need for the Sharks blue line um but Gabriov would be a nice addition oh Kevin I saw you mean by the Roger McQueen at Disneyland picks
oh is it it oh man
dude it’s awesome
it’s awesome it It is awesome who just Detroit are you trading or are we going to take five years again well if Steve Eisermanman wants to be a proponent of the decentralized draft uh he should make his picks quickly to really hammer that point home right steve Eisermanman doesn’t believe in fun i wonder what Granland’s got granland back to the Sharks let’s start up
alex Granland
alex oh god is this a trade oh no they’re actually making the pick where’s the annual Greer trade up into the third round like what are we doing all right here’s um here is a as you would put it Jules a lowkey pickup brian Dumalin is available and his stock has fallen quite a bit yeah
um that’s a choice
but I mean for a long time Bryant Dumalan was in the upper echelon of defensive defenseman yeah I could see that uh Michael Pradle just went to the uh Detroit Red Wings oh wow that’s a good save
yeah got to gota gotta build that goalie pipeline after uh trading a goalie for a goalie and still have Augustine and Sebastian Kosa in
Kosa they got Kosa they signed a really good one out of the Czech Republic via free agency uh they’ve got uh Cam Talbot still and there’s someone else now i got to look it up because there’s still someone else playing
Augustine
oh and Tugustine yeah steve Eisermanman is like I’m just going to hog all the goalies got to have draft capital some or trade capital somewhere right
they just acquired John Gibson which Oh my god jesus Christ guys
so good that’s the play though right like
Yeah that is the play but I’m just saying now you have like 18 bajillion goalies also at the same time the only problem with having 18 bajillion goalies is making sure you have enough places for all of them to play that’s the only the only thing you have to worry about when you go really heavy in goalending is because obviously there’s there’s a finite number of of goalies that can play on any given night and that answer is one
um are we going to see a trade here who is even available at this point like I don’t
Cameron Schmidt we’re not that’s why this is a bad idea
we have 113 people watching Ian i think the viewers say otherwise so off ian literally for those of you who missed it the first thing he told me the minute he got in the studio today was like “This is a horrible idea.” And I was thinking like “Yeah you’re probably right we might get like 10 views.” And now we’re sitting here with 115 over 100 so Jules has good ideas occasionally yeah all right all right
um Detroit’s that one fantasy hockey player that drafts all the goalies forcing players to trade you’re not wrong uh yeah Eiserman just it’s going to be it’s just going to be an entire starting lineup of goalies starting in goal
okay I think this
Augustine starting on defense sebastian Kosa imagine
they’re all going to be in their gear too are we trading please please Sharks please get rid of all your picks i don’t want any more picks please not in this draft i can’t just draft up for
Cameron tickets it doesn’t matter whether it’s this year or next year they’re all scratchy tickets at this point anyway
next year I have more faith in Trey i called it who is it who is it who is it i’m just saying I called this uh can someone tweet it out here for the descent to madness oh that was yesterday the delirium kicked in columbus okay oh yeah me too i am also glad that there are 113 other shark sickos out there watching DJ yeah man
thank you for letting me prove Ian wrong everyone uh greatly appreciate all of you watching um as we approach the 95th overall pick pat how are you holding up buddy we should get you on here also at some point you know just make this utter chaos uh folks I think uh my voice has reached its peak so I’ll bow out here
all right but it has been fun and I will remain in the chat to join with you guys so um yeah what happens if we somehow acquire Gavin McKenna next year Marty well um let’s just find out
let’s just find out i’m joking
anyway um have a great rest of your draft guys i’ll talk to you online
yeah talk to you soon Kev um if you get Gavin McKenna then you just cancel the the Sharks have to play in their own league at that point they’re just better than everyone else
they’re forward core at that point is just ridiculous like at that point your forward core is just you know what I mean trade him for another
kick the sharks out of the league they’re too good they have no defense though Ian they have like the best goalending and no defense yeah yeah it’s fine it’s fine defense is for cowards that’s why Mike Ger is drafting all the two-way center
yeah the core six yeah exactly core four no core six
yeah I don’t think the cap will allow the Sharks to do that u fine they’ll take they’ll they’ll all take good deals to stick around wait I’m sorry can we just picture this for a second mckenna Sely Misa line ian just froze
broken ian’s brain is broken defense by more yeah we’re just going to win every game like 18 to five
right yeah look at if you can outscore your problems uh it’s fine doesn’t work in the playoffs very well but you can outscore your problems you’re fine in the regular season plus would be another completely different animal uh we need who needs defense as the oil well the thing is Oilers don’t have goalending we at least should have good goalending what else do we have after this i I think I’m I’m going to like after 95 I think
oh you’re fine
i I will go to 12:15 cuz I’m a psychopath but
Oh you’re What do they have left for picks here
uh 115 is right after so I’m going to try and stick out to
Okay I can stick around to 115
um and then I we will I’ll probably bow out also if it again i have to sorry guys you’re only getting about an hour and 15 more minutes of this but I’m shocked there’s still 115 of you watching this um
everyone’s like I like that everyone’s response is ask Edmonton about uh not be able to square your problem yeah I get it it doesn’t work in the playoffs but it’s it’ll be fun in the regular season
holy crap that’s a name francesco del Elchce um yesterday I watched the stream until 6 o’clock in the morning god damn it’s okay i stayed up till like 2 a.m watching all the stuff so uh fun oh now we’re now we’re just stopped covering the picks and now we’re moving on to interviews is that Blake Fiddler that is Blake Fiddler pat do you feel better about the goalending prospect uh Chicago not Chicago um Columbus picked and uh Logan I told you about Simon Wang and he’s now a shark how does that make you feel keegan and dude I also want Cameron Schmidt i’m rooting for Cameron Schmidt he was I think his elite prospect comparison was a jacked up uh Alexander Debrink i love Alexander Deorgid oh my god i just I I should keep the gimmick going though and just give him a random first name too this bad is currently the fat itself oh my god that’s awesome i love this oh and we’re we’re holding again for 18 million years oh
yeah i’m going to start giving other guys random names too that’s it enough
i think I’ve got
Sergey Cbrrini sergey Yaroslav Celebrini
yaroslav Celbrini yaroslav Cabbrini that’s That’s what we want
uh the Sharks are on the board at pick number 90 something three
95 or 93 i can check i don’t honestly remember what this team
90some
thanks Ian
yes
let me look it up this is This is the uh in-depth specific information you come to Tealtown USA for it’s 90 something
it’s 90 I’m trying to The Sharks posted it right yeah they
95 95 Britney McQueen uh where the can I see your picks oh okay 30 33 53 95 115 124 150 210 so I might say till 124 but we’ll see because other and then it’s 1241 friendell talk Friday it really I was stressed man I was so stressed um because like again like I think like when I I I want to stress this I do think Antonell is a good player and I think that Chicago very lucky to have him um but that being said like there was when you look at this and you kind of look at like uh other boards and everything else like there was there was a very consistent tier of Schaefer Misa and then all those other centers um and I tried to talk myself into it and I I think I did for the most part because I think I was pretty resigned to the fact until they actually did draft music and I was ecstatic oh yeah if you missed that check out the reaction that was just posted on the Tealtown USA YouTube account
so yeah but it’s it it did I was really bummed out man i thought I was going to be just bummed out um and like eventually like at at at some point it would be kind of like one of those things right where it’s like okay well this is reality though this is the guy you move on and and I was totally happy to do that right like I wasn’t I wasn’t going to come here and like just scream and yell about how the rebuild was cooked and Like I could I could understand the logic of why the Sharks would have looked at a guy like Fondell and there was even talk that they were looking at do at one point too and I could make an argument there that why that would make sense but um but yeah it was it was stressful man because I think you um especially when you’re when you’re when you’re hitting like when you’re picking in the top three like you just you have to hit those picks there’s no
you can’t really miss
you can’t screw those up and and and while maybe Fondell wouldn’t be completely screwing it up it wasn’t the guy that was the best player available at that pick and it you know that’d be hard to reconcile but fortunately Mike Greer doesn’t suck and Michael Misa was the pick so here we are
again the only pick that was a little the goalie pick I’m coming around Simon Wang’s going to be a project um but I think if you swi switch him with McKini it’s fine
yeah so the beat writers restoring the pop but like th this noise came from reputable sources right they came from guys that are very plugged into the scout thing who have connections in in you know in drafting front offices and I’m I’m sure look it again I think that you could have a I I think that conversation was definitely had right like it’s not like these guys just like go to elite prospects and go “Well this guy’s ranked two guys so I guess this is the pick right?” like they’ve done the the pros is like they do the work right um
Joel sorry
i could understand the the conversation there
uh sorry real quick hoofer from St louis signs an extension 3.4 mil from Chris Johnson i know Ian but I’m we gota you know
yeah yeah and people refer I and I I look at I think Mike Greer would look at a guy like Porter Martone and I think he would be very very intrigued by a player like Porter Martone i just think again you know you have to you have to draft who you think the best player available is and it was Michael Mis i’m glad the Sharks agreed i’m glad they didn’t go Frenell because that would have made this draft a little more iffy to me
i think I would have been more pissed off we’d be I’d be Yeah I would be pissed off i’ I’d be but I’d be very disappointed with it it this this draft to me right now I’d probably give it a B+ i don’t think this is Mike Greer’s best draft
i just I and this is not an excuse but I just genuinely don’t think it’s that good of a class either so I think combination of a lot of things right yeah
it’s not and again like you know everyone has their biases you’re gonna have biases towards certain players you’re going to look at the you’re going to look at the needs of the organization and you know which is why I keep stressing that we there’s there’s a lot of pieces to the puzzle of building a team and the draft is simply one of them um but yeah I I don’t know like is this going to end up being my favorite Mike Ger draft class at this rate no no definitely not um I still think it’s like right now I’d probably give like a B+ uh friend like and if maybe Frenelli over Misa like that maybe that’s a B maybe it’s a B minus at this point i still think it’s fine it’s just not outstanding it’s not There’s There’s There’s definitely been other draft classes that I liked um would I have been more pissed off if Greer traded down instead of getting Frenell yeah cuz look at the It depends on how far you trade down if you traded down out of two picked up like a decent another decent pick and then like let’s say you go to four or five and you get a friend a do for example right and that was your guy um I don’t love it i still think Misa would have been the pick there but like I would respect the trade down instead of just taking a guy like do at four or or maron at two right like I I would respect that more if that makes sense um yeah i just I’m sure Greer liked Fernandell like let’s be honest like he I’m sure he loved
He probably likes a lot of players that went in that top 10 like it’s not like
No he hated everyone but Misa
he hated everyone but Miso
also like the whole thing like they didn’t take Frenell out to dinner and that was the first sus like I think if they liked Frenell enough to you know what I mean there was apparently I’ve I’ve so I’ve heard scuttlebutt that there was there was there was a couple meetings that didn’t get reported that
there was two mystery prospects but then I think someone confirmed Fendell wasn’t one of them now again those people could be lying straight up but um ain’t no way a friend or
right no and that’s my point right like if you trade if if that’s your guy and you trade down to get him like if you move down and you take the and you take one of those guys that’s fine taking them at two take like again you I like Anton Fondell i just didn’t like him at two
great puck eyes here i’ll be right back
oh no wow hi
who are you too Jules yeah disrespect
oh okay i I see why okay go go go she has plenty of time to flip me off and and give me a heart sign but whatever
hey bud how are you
i’m I am somehow still going
i I can’t believe you guys are still going let’s Let’s be quite real here but hey we’re we’re getting closer and closer like we’re going to do the Sunday show and I’m just going to show and be like I don’t want to talk about any of these guys anymore i’m just I’m done except for Michael Misa i can talk about Misa all day
uh I will say I just been trying to keep up with all the news around the league not just the Sharks um TSN is reporting the Blues have and restricted free agent Joel Hoffer have reached a 2-year $6.8 million extension so that kind of takes a goalie off the boards even though he was an RFA so
yeah he wasn’t going anywhere he was a controlled asset he probably wasn’t going anywhere
right so there’s that h but uh I like like you said you you were talking earlier in the um about a B+ for this and yeah I I kind of agree with you i’m surprised by the wang pick
yeah I I I I under I don’t like it it’s an interesting look the the problem with the Wangpic again is that like it’s a project and the Sharks haven’t really done well developing projects so there’s no history there that that says that this is going to be something that the Sharks are going to do well um now it is a different coaching staff on the Barracuda not one that I think incredibly highly of but um and you know they do have like they do have development coaches that I do think kind of highly of so it’ll be interesting to see what they turn them into but but it’s it’s a kind of a situation like like Havl and Cam Lund where if you flip the picks it’s fine
right
and you know like I I don’t I don’t hate Wang at at at 53 i but I hate him at 33 like it’s not it’s not good
yeah it’s not like it’s a too much of a stretch at 53 as it is at 33 yeah i think 53 is where he should have been like that’s the range where I thought but but then again like another guy who um who kind of went around that same area that I was pretty high on but again look was kind of eyeing him for the 53 pick like Carter Amico goes in that range to the the Flyers in the same range right so right
and and Carter Amo similar player in the sense that project um Carter Amo mind you has more like has some injury concerns that are definitely concerning um so there’s that in addition so like it’s it’s not a it’s a pick that intrigues me i just think it if it was taken later then I I think it’s it’s better but at the same But at the end of the day like you just I I I it’s easy to get hung up on where guys are taken but at the end of the day what matters is what is the strength of the draft class overall and so far it’s it’s good it’s above average in my opinion yeah it’s not like oh my god you know but just think if it was Frenell how he would be thinking yeah oh boy uh Tommy Lafrenier is that any relation to I don’t know i’m just uh I I have no idea
i’m just I’m just going through this and uh Gabriel uh Deaggel
we’ll call it uh it was the the goalie picked by the Penguins at 84 uh Vegas is on the clock now so hi Jules
hello did I miss anything no we’re at pick Okay so when I left they were at pick 85 and I come back and they’re at pick 85 this draft
I I’m going to just say last year for day two and it was myself girlfriend Amanda and Kevin were sitting next to each other we I swear we left at 11:30 last year and I know The Sphere had their 400 p.m showing of of uh their their world movie but if if we’re going to be decentralized and take our sweet time we’re just not going to be decentralized anymore this was terrible and they should never do it again i mean Gary’s gonna be pissed he’s like “Uh yeah no we’re not doing this again.” Matteo Nobert uh goes to the Golden Knights
um real quick St louis Blues announcement for Joel Hull for signing joel Hoffer won’t be the subject to offer sheets after signing a 2-year contract extension worth 6.8 million
um so a couple things I I I want to hit a couple things in the chat here quick um one is uh do projects ever really pan out i can’t think of any ones that didn’t leak yeah Kandre Miller was a project man keandre Miller had a ton of raw talent but it wasn’t refined um you see raw talent kind of get there’s definitely guys that are raw talent that that teams can u develop into decent finished projects i think Keandre Miller is the most recent example of of a of a raw project obviously Kandre Miller had a lot more upside being a first round pick whatnot but it does there are guys that are more raw than refined talent you think that if you can get them to put the tools together there’s a player there um it does happen the Sharks historically though have not been fantastic at that are the Rangers going to still shop him if I mean we’ve had a lot going on between now and the draft but you know there was talk about Miller being moved
yeah and look and Lacy’s saying uh Steve Bernier was a project who worked out for a while yeah fair enough jonathan Chichu was definitely a project uh Jonathan Chichu um obviously had that outstanding year beside Joe Thornton but um yeah I mean Jonathan Chichu man like that dude could not skate even at his best could not skate and then uh after double hernia surgery obviously really really fell off um so Tyler Hopkins goes to Toronto at pick number 86 in the midst of a boatload of empty seats in that theater wow
yeah and and this is a good point too wang has another year in the OL and then college so he has plenty of time to develop with coaches outside of the Shark system as well and that’s that’s true you know I don’t I don’t uh I don’t disagree um Ian given this his size and take in and the fourth isn’t Keonia a project who seems to be developing well um you look it I So here’s here’s when I’m when I when I say project I’m talking about more about guys who have like just like kind of like a more of a I’m trying to articulate this well um Luca Kegnoni had things that he was very very good at like there was there was he has very specific skills that were very refined and yeah you have to develop that player into getting him to the next level to be an NHL player um it’s it’s really it’s I I’m trying my best to articulate this and I know I’m doing a shitty job so I do apologize yeah I mean look if by definition everyone you draft like later into the draft is a quote unquote project um but some guys like they have you can kind of see potential where if you can mold them into something um whereas some guys like Aluka Kaggnoni had a very good um had a very good skill set already had like things that he was already very very good at does that make sense i hope it does i I again it’s really hard to articulate roman Bosov uh defenseman goes to Carolina 87 la’s on the clock sharks pick is almost up
let’s go come on
eper oh he goes off to LA
ah LA is making me angry this draft man first Bus Nevich now Kristen Eper those guys i I I’m again Eper was a guy I wasn’t sure exactly where he would go he fell a lot further than I thought he would fall although it’s it is hard sometimes to rank the D+1 players because sometimes they they go on a tear and they go really high um I’m surprised i’m surprised you made it to 88 i’m not gonna lie
yeah me too uh at this point I have no clue who the Sharks are picking um yeah so yeah I get what you’re saying wang doesn’t have one particular Yeah exactly and that’s kind of that’s what I’m trying to say is he doesn’t have his that he’s particularly good at so you have more work to do to get him ready and that’s that’s Yeah that that is better articulated than I did r10 gone car to the Can I turn up the volume without you guys
i like Christian Everson yeah we’re getting there gang
can you guys hear what that I turned up the volume or no
we’re good i don’t hear anything i’m deaf the audience is now deaf
the audience is now deaf thank you to the 123 of you who are listening to this
craziness
ian can you just say I was right i’m joking uh listen i have to give Ian some today yes sergey Gonar’s I did not pronounce that name
gonchar’s nephew just went
uh what about the a trade for Brendan Gallagher would you take that
that was I think false but yes i don’t I don’t hate it though like it’s it’s
I don’t hate it i again like I think it’s a it’s another move where it’s like it’s a it’s a good for right now move i don’t think you have to like every move that you make right now doesn’t have to be with like the immediate future and like you know what I mean like for the long-term future and immediate future like I think you can make moves that are good for right now and then you can make moves that are great for the overall picture uh that that’s a that’s a fine rate now move for me if that makes sense um
Mason Mo to the Devils
okay
all right we’re getting there but folks
we’re getting there number 95 coming up and then he’s going to trade
dude I lowkey think he might trade down
watch and just to get a pick for next year’s draft or some like that which I really kind of want him to do at this point mike G my favorite Mike Greer thing is when he trades a seventh for a seventh the next year that’s that’s my favorite Mike Greer thing that he always does well that and also trading up in the third he typically does that cuz that’s where he got we already have a nolari kind of no actually that wouldn’t be a bad fit for our 4C i think that I just wonder if you’re blocking somebody with that I just need to be blocking somebody that that would be my I don’t know i don’t know my brain is mush at this point i’m I’m trying to to keep it spitting out cohesive thoughts but it’s getting harder we’re so close
so close and then you know I just Oh my god I see our logo we’re coming up i do like that all right
i like oceans and seals Marty oh dear Lord we’re not doing that now
uh so you guys excited about Sunday stream dude
I’m super excited because um
cuz we’ll actually know more about these players
we’ll have like a we’ll have cohesive thoughts then at least I hope yeah um at least I hope
you two are going home or already at home and resting for a little bit before you
even
I have like I have my my I have my document that’s already in kind of another window where I’ve kind of been poking at and just trying to
fill in stuff for tomorrow or Yeah tomorrow
is it tomorrow it’s tomorrow
it’s tomorrow um I need to get home and then once I get home I can process Owen Martin to the Dude I have no clue who the Sharks are going to pick
me and that’s that’s that’s and that’s kind of like I didn’t think this was a bad idea because no one would watch i thought it was a bad idea because it’s just like where they’re going to start picking players and be like that that sounds like a player that sounds like a guy who plays hockey um that is my insight that this sounds like a hockey player no I’ll be I’ll be uh basing it off a little off EP’s draft guide right now so Brady Pedal to the Oh I’m so late on that i’m so sorry
puck guy penguins are having a weird draft like there’s there’s a little bit of good and a lot of bad
i don’t know bad what the hell is happening okay sorry um Caps are gonna trade watch them because this is taking god forsaken too cameron never present taro simojo yep sounds real yep that’s that’s what I’m waiting for give me Cameron Schmidt give me Cameron Schmidt oh Utah got Cameron Schmidt oh did I miss that you’ve been here the whole time
dude i swear I didn’t process Utah taking Cameron Schmidt that went just over my head i’m sorry folks i got a dollar on I I’m going to up that name
that’s fine at least you’re not calling like you’re not mixing up guys first names and last names i’m looking forward to
Fabian and back sergey Celinov
sergey Celibbrini alex Granland and Mikuel Blackberg uh so Caps are definitely trading this right at this point can I
uh maybe Where the is the clock
there is no clock there is no honest Cameron Schmidt thank you Kevin i know I’m not going insane that clock you know was just for show because I mean three minutes and they did not get within three minutes no because they got to they gota they got to serve the TV gods
oh yeah i mean cuz we we need one more Enterprise ad or they paid good money for that yeah well you know what then this this whole draft should have been presented by Granger because they definitely weren’t the ones that got it done i mean no not a chance sorry what happened um so is there a trade this is where I feel like Greer just trades up like two spots to jump on a guy that we’re not
to jump on a guy at 93 yeah exactly i wish I was wrong but he’s done this before no we got to trade a seventh for next year’s seventh
so Ian you’re telling me you want to stay until the seventh round no no I know no because I mean like
need to make it better
we’re so deep in the draft now like I’m not going to pretend I know about any of these guys anymore
i don’t they just like I said you could you could tell me it’s like you know yeah that’s true kev I could see that oh are we still on no I think they’re trading this is has been more than three minutes i’ve had uh multiple
Yeah they got it look at Sam Cosantino i should say okay sorry i I mean last year’s draft Kevin I know you’re in the chat last year’s draft went way faster day two I don’t think so
yeah it did no we we left at like 11:30 11:45 from the sphere after day two
granted it started at an hour earlier but I mean at the rate we’re going this one’s going till Ask guys if he’ll give us another draft pick for free absolutely
heck yeah
i’ll take that all day
did you send Nar as long as we don’t have to put the red line back yet
hearing Minnesota could be trading pending restricted free agent uh Declan Chisum why does that kind of scream Mike Greer go ahead
sorry it’s always the slowest round yeah yeah why does no one want Marasi
um also I was right the sends just got that pick traded for the pick so I didn’t don’t know the return or
haven’t seen anything yet on the return for it
so Declan Chisum is being traded that pick just got traded and I don’t know any returns i’m doing so good guys okay
what do I think of Calgary’s draft so far let me take
It’s been good
it’s been uh Let me take a look
i’ve liked their I like their uh day two specifically so Julian McKenzie so it’s basically now that they got um
Chism got traded yep
93 96 and 97 for the sends so I’m waiting to hear a uh trade oh this is old sorry my bad so it’s uh 93 to Ottawa for 96 and the 2027 seventh round pick going back to the Washington Capitals
yep yep got to get those sevenths
yeah you never know you’ll find your Pavvelski or your Doatsuk in there um so Chisum has been traded um has G charge his I just don’t I don’t know we’ll see what I mean i don’t I just This draft is fine it’s justine
it is what it is
blake Vanic um
Oh Cameron Schmidt just went to Dallas
and so now the Sharks are now officially
finally or I have no clue who they go cameron Schmidt is off the board now so I’m at a complete loss for who the the Sharks are taking sorry guys kevin right off the That’s That’s rude yeah right before Dallas Dallas do I’m really mad at the LA Kings and I’m really mad at Dallas now um
I’m not really two trades involving players and seven picks we’re cooking with gas now yep kevin are you good are you is Kevin i don’t think is happy with Cameron Schmidt being taken right before the Sharks pick no I I um I talked about this here Marty actually going with what Puckey said do you think we find I still I still think you’re going to find guys that somehow slip through and then pop off right but I think that scouting is so much more uh in-depth now i think it’s easier it’s easier than ever to watch games in almost every part of the world uh now um and it’s teams value the draft way more than they used to so I think it’s going to be it’s it’ll be harder for those guys to slip through the cracks and get down to the later later rounds um but never underestimate the the perseverance of you know a player that goes
late and and turns into something regardless of where they’re drafted but it it’s going to be harder to do because I think drafting like because of those Detroit Redwing teams it totally changed the way that teams look at drafting
holy off the board
with the 95th pick the San Jose Sharks are proud to select Teddy Mutron a center
6’1 power forward is how a strong straight line skater
sounds with a powerful shot merchin has the proto a prototypical power forward style he fires off the rush after driving through traffic faking before curling the puck around his stick
boston College commit of course
Boston College commit uh was also on the national team uh didn’t put up that great numbers in 13 games two points um
I I I’m Give me a second and I’ll pull up more on the kid but cool where was he ranked uh rankings 85 by elite prospects 149 149 by McKin and Flow Hockey 59 by Central Scouting uh National
Central Scouting doesn’t matter because they’re
Yeah uh 175 yeah I mean elite prospects and uh is high on him and so I I
Yeah uh you have all Yeah oh come on i don’t need an ad for Hershey Land
you do need a ad for Hershey Land good sir
you always need a 85 i’m trying to read more on this okay teddy Murden right-wing Chicago dude he also played with He might have he might have played with Mlin Celibbrini i’m not even around at this point he was with the Chicago Seal in 24-25 and 23 24 so no he did not play with CBrini um was with the Boston Junior Eagles yeah this is uh definitely a Greery pick yep from Norwell Massachusetts so
of course yeah i to me again like this is obviously this late in the draft this is what you’re drafting but uh sounds like you’re you know a bottom six energy uh heavy winger like plays a heavy game um you you know you probably squeeze a few goals out of him but like nothing you know he’s he’s going to be your he’s your typical bottom six energy guy with like who’s going to probably pot he has a sounds like he has a pretty good shot from what I’m reading so it might you know there’s I can’t shoot first forward with flashes of playmaking and some dynamism the shot is the star of the show hammering onetimes and catch and yeah the shot is really what makes him pop it’s it’s from what all I’m reading g drafted lowkey another uh sniper basically yeah marty uh they play the right way i’m trying to figure out where Shism is headed to all right i mean I’m going to bring my dog in you got it
uh Washington sends Chase Prrisky and number 123 to Minnesota for Declan Chisum and number 180 that’s the weirdest
yep and as for the Sharks they have picks 115 and 124 in round number four uh I know you’re starting to get to be getting on close to the clock for you Jules
uh yeah I still have Is he D+1 i just read he might be a D+1 i don’t know someone just I don’t know if he’s D+1 i’ll figure that out later so so for those who aren’t as knowledgeable as you what is D+1 mean
it just means that he could have been drafted last year and didn’t and so moved on to it’s like he’s like this lowkey the same like at person in that sense
no I guess
but I don’t know if he is or not so I’m the Paul asking if did I get the RHI tanks yet no I’m waiting for the paycheck to come in i’m I’m looking forward to that we had a I had a chat with Brody last night uh about that so yeah Pepe a trades S3B don’t leave Jules we need you
no I apparently you’re
I think we’ll get to pick 115 before I have to leave so I hope so
i’m trying to figure out more of this kid february 16th yeah dude i don’t know when the cut off is i’m I’m bad in that so someone I I don’t for draft eligibility
yeah for draft eligibility so he I don’t think on elite prospects it doesn’t say that he’s an overager and they typically do so I’m just going to go by that he’s not an overager oh uh players be must be born between January 1st 05 and September 15th 2007 this means no players who are 18 year olds old by September 15 2025 are eligible okay
and North American players cannot be older than 20 while European and international players are eligible to age 21 as long as they haven’t previously played in the NHL there it is um which means we’re getting to the point where next year Joe Thornton had already been traded to the Sharks before these kids were born
yeah yeah
oh my god
which is insane um welcome back Ian how’s the pup
uh he’s fine he’s in the house again he’s happy how’s the weather up there i mean we’re um you’re they’re a little The dogs are a little stir crazy cuz he’s been uh it’s been pretty wet up here the last couple days nice sunny day so I think we’re going to get them out and do stuff whenever I’m done doing this
yeah maxine Schaefer uh goes to Washington at pick 96 and we have moved on to round number four and
the Sharks pick at 115
and we are already at 99 so Boston’s at 100 boy that ch that escalated quickly uh Lewis Beckman to Ottawa
oh now it’s moving super
julia Stump to Chicago the Devils have taken Trenton Bennett uh Boston is up or just waiting for the word uh yeah they are taking a lot of guys from the national development program that are low-key slipping I think not slipping but just like you know what I mean so yeah they seem to be targeting that right now
i just don’t think the SNDP was was good this year
no they weren’t like genuinely none of their guys were like top pick worthy but McKenna was the only one that I was like “Yeah he’s probably the best one.” Yeah no I think I but I think that’s the thing right because like it’s it’s easy to say “Oh he’s he was the top of that group.” Like but I think it was a really soft year for the national development team program
uh Anaheim takes Drew Shock now we’re moving
from the national development team apparently Boston’s pick is not showing up on the uh on the dot draft rack app so uh did anybody catch who Boston picked at 100
uh Vashect Vashik Glenn that’s probably why they couldn’t figure out how to spell it um yeah again the NDTP just did not have a good year this year
it wasn’t a good year for the NDTP whatever
no Boston did not forfeit the pick no they took they took it
they took someone it’s just not showing up on NHL.com
fasic Blenar
i think I jinxed it pick there he’s a defenseman
i don’t know anything like again this is the point where it’s like your guess is as good as mine
he’s a hockey player last I checked
yeah he he he is a guy that definitely plays hockey he plays defense um and uh that’s it that’s all I know i’m gonna have to find out what he is let’s find out
uh yep there’s a trade whoa what no adam Benick never mind i lied don’t listen to me ever folks that might not be a good thing since you’re on a podcast
i’m going to still don’t listen to me
don’t listen
oh my gosh
thank you Ian did I just Oh okay
um Adam Bednack uh Benak excuse me to Minnesota at 102 Boston they took someone Elite Prospects doesn’t even know and maybe that’s why anybody picked it up uh so uh so Vashek uh Richards or Blenar is a uh is a 6’4 left shot defenseman uh who has is a dual citizen of Czecha and the United States uh he plays in the J20 Swedish League i don’t recognize this team so I don’t know whatever it’s it’s late in the round right that’s what we do
yeah he plays in a league that’s definitely real somewhere uh I won’t even listen to Marty Cbrini nice uh he was born in um he was born somewhere in Colorado apparently no specific place just Colorado USA so maybe on the side of a highway somewhere i’m not sure oh my god i doesn’t have like I’m sorry just Colorado USA like no city so Oh my god swedish juniors there we go
there we go h for the fresh goose on the Kell one god damn i’m never down because I’ve said it like 17 times
yeah you did say it quite a few times
i don’t know why i I have it on the brain buffalo just took Mattius Kacharik hope I I hope I got that right uh Kevin uh from Slava Praa under 20 Shachia Jr left Shot Center
yeah so uh for anyone like again the stream’s been going on for 2 hours and 36 minutes um I will answer the Wang question again um because uh because why not um look I I again I think he’s um it’s an interesting pick i don’t like him where he was picked uh I think that’s my beef with the pick is where he was taken
um he’s a project uh it’s going to be interesting to see what the Sharks can do with him
um
I don’t I I just don’t love it where he was picked and I think if you if you switch their their that pick with the pick they took after I probably have way less gripes um but if you really if you if you super want some more in-depth answers on all of these questions I don’t mind answering it on the on the stream because it is a it is a long stream and people are obviously going to come and go but if you want a more concise something that you might be able to stick on your phone what do you want you were just outside i am doing a show here ian we’ve gotten to the point of the stream where Ian’s talking to his dog any stream freeze
anna no uh Anaheim just took and and thank you Kevin Elijah Noyen Noyen Shand jesus Christ
damn it
um so if so if you are looking for more in-depth um not maybe not in-depth but if you want more concise thoughts on everyone that the everything the Sharks have done over this weekend tomorrow uh we are going to have a draft recap show um it’s going to be nice it’s going to be concise and it’ll be something that you could take on your you know you could listen to it as a podcast you can watch it live on YouTube um it’s going to be more concise and and and better than two hours of dead air and me making up players that may or may not have ever played for the Shark
like ML Wenberg i don’t know why i don’t know why
you were thinking Granlin and in
that’s why we’ve decided he is Alex Granlin now yeah and and like and and and like um and this in this comment here right uh all these oversized D in the second round were taken together and he’s not wrong right like another guy I I mentioned this as well like a guy like that I thought might be available to the Sharks at 53 was Carter Ammo and he got taken in the exact same range uh and uh Wang Carter Amco very similar players the only difference is that Carter Ammo has some serious injury questions and and uh so far Wang doesn’t so uh it but it is a good point does need to uh it it it does need to be stated that there was a bunch of guys uh with that similar kind of profile that did go um there
uh Travis Hayes uh Sue Greyhounds goes to Pittsburgh
i like it does Dubis has to get in his obligatory Sue Greyhounds pick
you must always pick a Greyhound greyhound my bad i can’t speak English
good good on you like just way to keep it consistent Kyle i love it
uh Tomas Pollin goes to the Islanders and Parker Holmes just got selected by Chicago at 107 [Music] i like Travis Hayes uh I that’s that’s a nice later on pick for the for the Penguins i do like him oh my god
oh my god death taxes two greyhounds being drafted by Cal
yes oh my god
so actually people are pretty high on this murder some people at least are pretty high on this
it’s an interesting pick i I like the pick again we’re at the point in the draft now where you’re you know do any of these players that are playing in the NHL statistically no
right that’s the that’s the reality when you get this deeper into the draft uh I know uh I think you could probably I think it’s getting to the point now where you could probably axe round six and seven and it wouldn’t matter
right but I I am I know I’m in the minority in that but I I think you could axe round six and seven especially as the league keeps expanding um and the you know like if the NHL expands by two more teams i know I know people would be like “Oh but Ian Gary Bman said weren’t doing it yet but the CBA hasn’t been ratified yet.” Wait till the CBA is ratified and watch how quickly we go back to expansion
mhm
book it
book it you heard it here folks
uh and I think as as the as the draft gets longer like as as every round gets longer because you keep expanding teams I think that the later rounds are less important yeah I’d say Spence or uh Fiddler are probably the steel of the second um or do we have a trade here or are we just interviewing GMs
we’re just interviewing GMs we have to We have to Hi Barry Trotz how have you up the PRs this year yeah Atlanta again I’m not saying like it’s going to be like they’re going to announce it in like then the next week they’re going to be like “Okay and Atlanta and enter other team here at Houston they’re in this is what’s happening right?” I think but I think you’re going to I think you will see once the CBA is ratified and all the incas dried I think you’re going to see that that open up again and it won’t be like a it won’t be a bang bang thing but it’ll be it’ll be very similar it’ll be like “Okay these are we’re opening up for expansion and all the teams are going to get in quebec City is going to make this um this wonderful presentation and it’s going to get thrown immediately in the garbage because they don’t want them.”
Yeah
and uh it’ll be announced you know it’ll be like Atlanta and maybe Houston uh put in bids and then you know and then in four years or five years they’re they start playing do we have a trade here hello
no they’re just taking time to talk to Braay Trotz but yeah I think Houston and Atlanta are almost surefire things houston already has a building ready to go for hockey it’s the same one that the Arrows played in when they were in the AHL um you know and honestly if if Phoenix can ever get their crap together which doesn’t sound like anyone
they got to get a building right
yeah they got to get a building first
nothing’s on the radar in Phoenix i’m sure that’s kind of grinding Bettton’s gears
i don’t think so i think he’s I think he was happy to wash his hands of the whole situation
yeah but I I mean for him he’s like okay I exhausted everything
and this idiot you know just put it into the ground so um Pepe saying you know Kansas City has a sprint center and what it was ready to go that was supposed to be
oh uh Tampa just traded up for the pick
the um I think like like well the thing is too like you have to remember too but that’s the same as Quebec City the Quebec Ramparts play in an NHL ready arena right
a QMJHL team um you know a junior hockey team plays in an NHL arena because they were told build an arena and we will consider it but what they didn’t tell them or what they didn’t say was uh you don’t increase our American television footprint that that was left out of the build an arena it’ll be fine we’ll we’ll come back build an arena um yeah i mean Kansas City was was basically built ready for the Penguins until
Cindy Crosby saved the franchise again and so did the state of Pennsylvania oh we got some chat uh who plays the other way with I I I Here’s the thing right um just because guys play together good in junior doesn’t mean you immediately put them together in the NHL i think Sherneshop has a chance to be on the on the Sharks next year though although Misa coming in if Misa comes in that does that I think that does limit his chances a little bit more because there is still a finite number of space uh in in the forward group um but uh I don’t think Sherneshaw being on the NHL squad for stretch of the season is is a crazy thought give me a second i got put this dog back outside i don’t know what’s promised what i mean Jules let me ask you about you know where Quinton Musty kind of fits in with this if you’re getting
Luda
well yeah but I mean you you look at you know like a guy like Teddy Mertrin and and you know what was it cole McKenna i mean does that kind of put a little more pressure on
No they’re they’re different players musti is gonna if Mussi projects out he’s he’s a top six player with those two at least Cole McKenna I think you’re probably getting a really good good third i’d say it more puts pressure on Philip Beastad more than anyone
like those two put pressure on Beaststead more than a call it puts pressure on Beastad Colin Graph Cam Lond’s low-key taking shots at guys who project to be third line wingers but who knows maybe they pop off and you know McKenna proves everyone wrong and becomes an elite you know second line forward right he he’s taking those bets on these guys um I know you got to wait you’re just going to go there and bark and make my neighbors angry with me he’s having a conversation with his dog there’s a dog and it So there’s a dog that walks by every day and he just barks the whole time and he always makes Titan want to go play with them oh my god all right piss off my neighbors uh Sharks are three picks away here four picks away thank you to the 108 of you guys watching i would put Misa on the It depends they need they need to trade or get or get someone who can play the second line center role um I don’t know who that is because the free agent market sucks but we’ll see what Mike Greer does i also just think no one wants to pick in this year’s draft all right hi
what were we talking about
that no one likes this year’s draft
okay fair
i mean uh Sharks are three picks away and if you were asking me who they pick I’d just throw a dart board on the elite prospects page so uh Flame would you want Rasmus Anderson to help the young guys i I don’t I don’t hate like
depending what the return depending on what the return is right yeah i think that’s
because you may have to that may cost you a first round pick i like the idea of Raspus Anderson i just don’t know if I like the idea of the return that’s probably the best way I could answer that is did LJ Mooney get taken yet i don’t know
okay i I I don’t He’s 57 from the And if Greer continues his NDTP trend he is a guy i don’t love it but he is a guy but the issue is he’s 5’7 so never mind ignore me he will not be taken by the sharks i’m just trying to see what Greer could be thinking here maybe he goes the He has another pick at 154 uh 124 um I don’t think I’ll make it to 124 but we’ll find out um depending on how fast these next few picks go i’m I’m I’m really curious to see who Greer takes uh John Mooney just went to the uh Montreal Canadians and the Sharks are picking right after the New Jersey Devils pick yeah that’s the that’s what I I was just reading off names at this point but yeah I I read his profile a little bit more and I was like “Okay wait no never mind.” Um I don’t remember if he went yet i’m not sure kevin Morat probably knows um I don’t think he did yeah okay he’s a guy i could see the trucks taking any other um
He’s a guy that’s something Sharks fans are probably like that’s the horrible That’s the worst way you can describe someone
no I just He’s a guy
no no no that was a really bad description of him give me a second but yeah he is available i would not
Yeah I don’t disagree with Shernaw but I think a lot of it comes down to what happens in July with you obviously yeah free agency can change uh can change things significantly i think Misa making the team can change things um significantly because you you don’t want like you you’re not going to just roll all kids right like I think the Sharks do want to improve this year
kevin sorry um so I don’t know i I I I I think they do want to improve and you can and you can’t do that if you’re just going to roll you know Wenberg and the children to fully Wenberg and the children i don’t I don’t know
this is my round four like you know let me uh Sharks are on the clock i have no clue they’re taking
yeah sharks never before shut up sharks have never had a guy before this is exciting yes that’s that’s Sharks notably not a guy factory team
what’s the weakest overall position in your organization uh right D
defense right D yeah
not even close
right D it’s the right side of the of the blue line is pretty barren i don’t think defense overall is a is a strength of of this prospect pool um prospect wise but again like you can you can fix that right there’s ways to fix that like the draft isn’t the I know I’ve said this a lot and I apologize my god what is that name sharks elias Mango Mandust okay what is that name elias man [Music] i remember wait I know this kid holy not actually but All right elias Mang Moose of Sorry guys all right what do we got here um ranked 9676 for NHL scouting uh elite prospects kills plays early in the sequence spotting puck carries as they exit the zone and enveloping them with his four-way mobility and range he disrupts rushes and barely gives time to attackers to make plays in the defensive zone closing in on them as soon as they get the puck uh let me find him in the EP rankings because I didn’t see him listed or ranked actually let me Oh why am I hearing an echo oh he’s back i came back just because I was like Ilas Momed Satanov wow that um
that is a mouthful that is a fun one for
and it’s probably gonna turn into Momed Sultanov but yeah in any event let’s just call him No let’s not call him Mago because that sounds too close to uh something else uh I’m trying to find him on the Elite Prospects and I’m
Did like Shakir Mama Dulan fall asleep on the keyboard that they This is end up got found him a uh oh boy okay 5.5 out of nine for skating five out of nine for shooting four out of nine for passing four out of five for handling 4.5 for hockey sense six for physical considering he is one of the best tools foundations in this Russian class we could see a team drafting in the late rounds of the draft trusting their development team to transform him into an oh another project m
they’re all projects at the there’s not one player being picked who isn’t a project
at this point
he had a a big chance to skate up the ice taking the puck up to the right flank but was too reliant on his feet and weren’t able to burn past the defender who was easily able to slot oh boy so he’s physical plays the right way and he’s 6’2 and another left shot defenseman
and another left shot defenseman all right um so we’re we’re trading for Eric Carlson is that what we’re going for at this point uh any Boston collections connections no he’s right now in the MHL and the loco Yara Slav
uh
oh Loco didn’t they didn’t they just win a championship gagarin Cup
they may have uh he’s in the MHL yeah for
Right yeah but I think I think their parent club won the Gagarian Cup
the Lo locomotive yeah
and then Loco 76 yards off three games two assist the Loco regular Yarlav I guess is 40 games played one goal six assist seven points yeah he’s he is like 6’2 but weighs only but he’s going to fill out he’s 18 years old he’s going to fill out
wait till he has some In-N-Out burgers um I cannot wait for that pairing of him and Muka Madulan yeah not really um
I have to do more research on this kid um
he’s not really This is This is an like again this is later on pick so whatever but like it’s a it’s it’s a player who wasn’t really ranked by a lot of people
um recruit scouting has him as low as 220 i think Future Considerations is the only other uh service that has has him at 96 um but like he didn’t really make a lot of other people’s boards the one thing that I will remind people though is is Russian players are incredibly hard to scout right now um with given world events and yada yada yada it it it is harder to scout like I think Russian players is still going to be kind of the blind spot for a lot of people because you don’t always get access to you you might want to go there and scout some players but you might be able to get in you might not there’s still there’s still challenges when it comes to scouting Russian players i think that’s the one maybe if you’re if that there’s still a blind spot it’s it’s especially in these lower Russian leagues
john Swinson god
what happened uh Ilas Magdum Mets Solanov was named the player most likely to have his name continued on to the next jersey i that that totally blows away Ivan Ejenankov which was already crazy enough along with Muka Medulan but wow
uh the Darks also have another pick in like four picks so I will make it to 11 12:15 and uh we are dipping after the fourth round
all right uh and sources this is from Darren Drager sources say talks are ongoing between Vegas and Toronto about a resign and trade for Mitch Martin
oh no
really
oh no oh off Vegas with what oh Christ
cuz they’re Vegas i knew it was going to happen um yeah so so he is ranked 76 by by Central Scout you have to remember they Central Scouting splits up players by where you’re from and what your position is and everything else so so he was their 76th ranked skater among European skaters so that’s not an overall ranking that is just among European skaters specifically oh boy so Vegas is getting Marer we all saw that coming
so does that mean Tomas Hurdle you are
Hurdle is a
Toronto relief m no whoa wait oh chaos
i mean they they got to clear the cap space for
they got to clear Carlson has to go
yeah and that does mean like Kevin just said a resigning trade means eight years for Marner
true
yeah you got to get your eight years in now because that’s not going to be available
did that shrink i didn’t see that part of this
yeah so in the new CBA uh the new free agent signing term is six years seven for your player sharks are like one two picks away well the I mean um yeah it’s Petrangula to the LTR yes cuz he has an injury that’s happened that’s also the last year to this is the year if you want to abuse some LTI man this is the year to do it cuz that that party is over to
i mean so maybe Vegas thinks of going all in to get one more cup before all the restrictions that they helped out
uh Professor Hockey with the tweet of the year i feel bad for Randy if this player ever makes the NHL even more syllables than Luke i know i I mean I’ll have to ask him that before next season because I remember him saying he he had a tough time with Sudtor Stewart Sturm Stern Sutter yeah um
John is there anything in the CBO about LTR yes your uh the the new rules in the next CBA which I believe starts not this season coming but next season is that your playoff team has to be cap compliant the the you can have a hund00 million on the books at in the playoffs but the team that hits the ice has to be cap compliant i believe Nick Roy will be going to Toronto if this is done from Elliot Freeman so they’re keeping i’m just wondering all right the Sharks are on the clock by the way
in the midst of that uh Kaden
Harrington went to LA lammedovski and Carter Clippenstein I mean are we just making up names now in round four holy crap both went to Minnesota
and Alex Hang uh no relation to the one the Sharks picked uh went to Nashville in between the Minnesota picks so yes
on the clock
oh Shark Hill shut up for a minute i mean the pick isn’t isn’t in
it’s not even in yet and you’ll see Jules have a stroke i mean can we come up with a different name at this point
yeah can we have a like just a normal name that Jules can pronounce
here here’s the thing i’m going to talk about Marner going to Vegas like it’s it’s it doesn’t it’s not is it good for the sharks no but I I I still think that when the sharks are good Vegas is going to be on their the the wrong side of their window so I don’t think it it doesn’t matter the Sharks aren’t competing with Vegas now oh we chose another D zachary Sharp a regular name thanks Gre not a regular name but an easier to pronounce name
uh give me a second boys and girls and everyone oh oh Zachary Sharp defense so left D [Laughter] he’s God what are we doing what are we doing
cuz there’s probably no uh Zachary
so here’s the thing about Zack Sharp zach Sharp is a double overager
he’s D+2 uh he’s 20 years old so he’s D+2 um he is a uh American 6’2 left shot defenseman uh who is playing in the University of Western Michigan uh in 42 games had five goals four assists and nine points
yeah this draft sucks um not for the Sharks just I don’t know this i don’t like this pick western Michigan didn’t did they
they won the championship I mean good um listen I I have to do more research on this pick i can’t speak it’s also just a shitty draft and and that’s where Sunday 6 p.m comes in for the both of you um
correct
we can’t we can’t stress that enough gang and I know there’s over a 100 plus watching you so tell
four or five of your friends tomorrow at 600 p.m pacific uh check us out on the Tealtown USA YouTube channel please
holy teddy Murden’s dad played the quarterback for cost of Boston College his mother played lacrosse there as well he’s following in his family’s footsteps next year oh my god that’s so funny
d plus two yeah I I like I I am going to I I agree i still It’s kind of high for a D+2 player um but again I I think it just
I do think though that it speaks to the depth of this draft a little bit i’m not I’m not trying to let the sharks off the hook here i don’t love this um but I don’t know i I’m curious i’m I’m I’m curious to get Mark’s take on this tomorrow because he watches a lot more college hockey than I do
um I don’t
Yeah he just won the Frozen Four yeah so he’s just he’s he’s he was on the national championship team i don’t know like I’m not going to sit here and tell you how big of a role he had i don’t know um it’s it’s interesting i just also think that like the I don’t know once the I think the Shark Sex picked is 150 there’s no way how we’re um we’ll have more consensus thought tomorrow this draft Loki also this draft last wonderful um does it change your your B+ status yeah I think I’ I’d have to do I think it’s a B
i It’s Yeah I think it’s sliding a little bit i I think given I don’t know it’s somewhere in that range it’s It’s a BB plus somewhere in there for me right now um obviously I want to I’d like more time to think about it um it can’t be understated how much
fear this draft if you’re going to It seems like Re is really just going for projects they’re all projects he has that much faith in John McCarthy in that case then um that tells you something gang uh where is Okay I do have to hop off here in a second but
I’ll say kudos to Toronto if they can get something for
is a part of the mate i want to see what this martyr trade is
yeah I’m staying on till the m trade
no so Jules you can log off ian you logged in yeah I’m a diamond charge it’s fine
i’m audio message from Kevin
kevin is this okay to be played on he just neutron i don’t know what’s happen anyways uh Sharks got two days without blast then immediately drafts gazillion lefty uh I really like the Ravensburg pick
i do yeah so the Pagnota tweet and take that as you will there’s even talk all week over Marner in Vegas with the Knights looking at moving out a roster player and Nicholas uh Wah uh and the likelihood that Petrangelo’s season is over some unconfirmed chatter of a 4* 12 range type deal for Marner if he ends up there i’m fascinated to see where this goes i I wonder how close it is to be done oh no so th this is Mui and Terasanti
oh is this Pegnota i’m done i’m done
yeah no no that’s why I was saying it take that what you will take it with a grain of salt
oh I didn’t realize I didn’t realize this is Pegnota talking this is This is This is garbage so because he kept saying Meren instead of Trin sorry sorry uh yes oh my god
Marty no
join no we literally had a conversation about this at like 12 a.m in the morning it was It was great shenanigans in the Discord
yeah yeah uh Crafty Qual can we skip Scammer and just go straight to October i’m melting i Yeah I Crafty I don’t know where you’re at but uh I am too which is why Jules got her wish uh today even without the super chats so [Music] So uh Jules it’s 12:08 just giving you a heads up
oh I’m aware i’m I’m really curious who what the the monitor is
right you know is is
if you want to join the Discord uh hit up Hockey Jerk on the on the Twitter machine he has the the keys yeah Freriedman also did tweet it out about this
oh now see now I’m interested again ian
but have we learned anything from everything that we just went through uh yeah that everyone should be fired the rebuild’s there it is everyone should be fired
well no what I’m saying is is that to not overly trust some of these insiders or guys who have information i think if a guy like Elliot Friedman says it there’s something to it
right right whereas David Pegnota has like the the hit rate of like a I don’t even know baseball so whatever whatever is the level below
oh the Mendoza line 200
and then the level below that that that’s that’s where pig notice hit rate is i lowkey feel that Greer’s just like taking a dart board and just saying the board i’m just going to throw a darts and we’ll see if we can swing big on something um I don’t know the sharks Where do they pick oh I’m not waiting for that no that’s at 150 all right folks it was a pleasure jules is gonna go home um because I’ll be we’ll be back on tomorrow at 7 the
six you guys I I’m I’m so tired of everyone being like you know what i’m just going to make up my own time and that’s what’s going to happen
i listen I just Okay 9 just for Ian off 9 Eastern correct 9 Eastern
yeah there you go 9 Eastern um
you are correct oh my gosh
the draft board might be how Zack Sharp was selected the
dart board yeah the dart board
oh Ryan Miller is back in the league to pit for 130 that’s good i like it
well I we say good luck to Ryan Miller and thank you for your services as a goalending consultant for the Sharks good for him drafted the rip age of
Well Pittsburgh needed a goalie i
That’s true no it’s a center similar name going to Pittsburgh so
Brian Miller the center i look at I think if you’re going to go back into the NHL uh as an older gentleman uh goalie is probably not the way to do it probably center is a better way to do it so congratulations Ryan Miller
all right lovely people i’m out i will see you all at 6 tomorrow uh Sharks draft is it’s fine it’s It’s not one of my favorite draft classes so far um definitely not one of my It’s not as good as last year but last year’s hard to pick
last year’s draft was better last year’s draft was better there was a lot more depth
um
who else has a name we can pronounce pick them greer maybe who else’s name sounds Also if we can just pick a right D that’d be greatly appreciated at this point um
what’s Ryan Miller from the Sue that’s great
okay but I’ll see you all tomorrow i got to get home
all right
is tired bye guys
my dear all right so come on Vegas just get it over with
yeah I sure is um and then we can clip it and make all the little shorts and Yeah this is definitely one of the drafts of all time yeah that’s how I feel about it too it’s definitely one of the drafts of all time
yeah it it is
it’s definitely that we got Misa number one yeah look it man i mean at at the end of the day right like it’s it’s what you do at the top of the draft that’s usually the most important i think the Sharks at the top of the draft out of the park yeah this just crazy how everything is
i feel like like looking at Vegas like Hurdle has to go right like it has to be Hurdle or Carlson like one of them has to go i’m Yeah let me go look on Puckedia here because I mean how big is Petrangelo’s deal and especially if you’re going 12 million right now Vegas has 5.6 mil of cap space right
going in
yeah Petangel makes 8.8 a year so if you LTI
there’s 13 and you know so I guess they decided hey I’ll take the year off um I mean you can do it that way and then you don’t have to move hurdle um you’re just going to be very tight cap
well you have to still fill it like the bottom of your lineup right like you need some flexibility there so do you see like a guy like I don’t know this has you have to move Carlson or Hurdle in my opinion it’s like do you move I know Saw just reuped riley Smith just reuped i’m just wondering if you move somebody a little smaller yeah i just think you need more flexibility like does Brady McNab go Zack Whitecloud i mean I I’m just I’m just trying to spitball here ideas of what they would do
for Vegas wise you know yeah William like William I think it’s there’s William Carlson to me I agree like William Carlson is the is the like seems like the obvious choice out of that group um but I’ve just heard Hurdle’s name out there more which is why I think that he’s very much in play especially with Carolina um we heard rumors of that over this past week
i mean yeah Hurdle and and Carlson would be it and obviously be now clear this up for me Ian
sharks can’t reacquire hurdle because of the correct right so all those back up
and it doesn’t make sense what are we doing but with everything that’s happened what do you think the Sharks do forward-wise in free agency defense I think it’s kind of obvious But um I don’t know cuz I think that this free agent group is so thin and I think that there’s going to be a lot of like with the cap going up and teams having more money i mean the Sharks can throw money around with the best of them right now like the the money is not an issue for the San Jose Sharks
the problem is is that guys generally want to win and the Sharks are on the path to competitiveness but they’re not there now
right um so unless you can sell a guy be like “Hey look it you know we can give you this money and in X years we think this is we think we’re X years away from being a playoff team maybe you can get a guy to sign.” But I still think like with the with the cap not being flat anymore I think you got a situation where having a ton of cap space doesn’t just mean victory anymore like guys are going to weigh guys are going to weigh winning in situations like that uh yeah like
the Kevin asking they can’t require him because why because they retain salary so I don’t think they can i maybe they can because I think they you can’t ret you can’t bring back a guy you bought out i don’t know if they because they’re retaining salary they they would just take all the salary back so maybe they can i don’t I’d have to go double check that i know you can’t bring back a guy you bought out for obvious reasons um but I do wonder if I I think if you retain salary guy you can’t take him back but I could be wrong yeah and it’s it’s true it is a domino effect situation right if you can get one good player to sign along with young talent then it improves the sell jobs others look at the I mean look at the the Rangers right the Rangers go and bring in um what the his name why am I Why am I having this day i This This is how mush my brain is
because he weren’t expected to be on here
that’s true um who did the Rangers bring in oh my god somebody saved me from myself
mike Sullivan
no the player they signed uh they signed him as a free agent when things were not good
oh Paneran
paneran thank you thank God jesus Christ Ian yeah they signed our Timmy Paneran right and then it kind of like and things kind of fell in after that right um you look at Columbus obviously you know Jean Gdro signs there and then some other players uh see that and they start signing too you know obviously that ends in in tragedy obviously but it’s I I still think it’s a a good example of how like if a player says you know what I like what you’re doing here and I I believe in the process it does make it more appealing to other people but you need that first domino to fall i agree
right right so we are currently at pick
so if you retain cell you can’t take them back for one year which is that sounds that sounds like the role
so they they I guess they could go and reacquire Tomasur but why as I aside from it’s Tomas Hurdle and we love Tomas Hurdle but
I mean maybe I mean you you try to just because you need to get under the cap i mean that Gadro went there first and then Monahan followed him i thought I thought that was a big reason why Monahan signed there was because of uh Johnny Gadro oh yes big time yeah yeah yeah um what’s uh Mike Drop um asking what’s the percentage you see of Misa being a center and I’m assuming what he means by being a a winger where would you put that range um I think that Michael Misa is probably more likely to be a center than Will Smith at this point but I wouldn’t but it could go completely the other way and that would be fine uh as far as like putting a percentage on it I don’t know i feel like I don’t know 75 25 like I feel 75% that Michael is a center over uh whereas Will Smith I could go either way at this point i get to go maybe 6040 60 is not 40 he is
mhm so how would I spitballing here for
cuz we’re waiting for the sharks at 150
and the Marner trade if there’s going to be one
yeah let’s go
yeah it’s like let’s make this happen we have lives to enjoy it’s It’s Saturday 4 p.m
i need to get done with this soon cuz I have to start preparing for tomorrow’s show which I need a break before I do that cuz I think my brain will be just absolutely
I need to make graphics for you too so um what do you how do you see the top six opening night with with this is and of course before free agency but like right now it would be what Ekkan Celibbrini Smith and then
it’s all the usual suspects right it’s it’s just how it’s like the fringe guys it’s like does does Misa or Shernishov like I think Sherneshave to me is the guy in that like that has the bigger chance of being in the opening lineup i think Quinton Musty spends most of the year on the Barracuda and that’s fine that’s not a concern um I think Shernish it could be that guy that comes up but again if if you sign Michael Misa and you give him a chance to go like that probably bumps Shernes down to the Barracuda for uh a significant amount of time right cuz again you you they have forward sign but like you you still have to like let me look at the the forward group here as I um Marty’s saying you know the that 70s line stays together with the Eklan celebrating to Foley
yeah so you know um like you you obviously look at Noah Greger is not coming back clim’s not coming back it’ll see it’ll be interesting to see what they do with Kovalinko um but like you still have guys that are that are still going to be there um you know Tofo’s Wenberg Goodro Coral Crunchstrom like those guys are probably all th those guys are probably all like locks to to make it right so there’s there’s there is some room there but I I would like to see some veteran players come in also to kind of keep it balanced that you don’t want to go completely just turn it over to the kids we’ve seen teams try to just completely turn it over to the kids without really reinforcing it before uh and it just never works man we are currently at Oh and Vegas can potentially also sign monitor to an extension but one of the names that we’re hearing that could go back to Toronto if this does get done is Nick W the Vegas center who’s under contract for a couple more years w’s a good player that would be if Toronto is going to salvage something from losing Marner’s rights that is a good option for them but I understand that he’s a name that’s been coming up in the conversations uh there have been some others not sure at this time but seems to be the one that definitely could be in the deal
so that’s from Elliot Freeman on the broadcast right now so I like I I actually do like Nick Wah as a as a for the um for the lease because I think they do need like their they do need to address their their center depth lower um in their bottom six
um Nick’s an interesting Yeah Nick is an interesting pick for them there i don’t I don’t hate that
yep so we are about 10 picks away from 150 um
I’m probably going to Yeah yeah and then I think we’ll shut Well you have the keys right now so you you’d have you would shut this bad boy down
i’m disheartening that Greer won’t take a run at someone like Eers to help build out our top six i don’t think it’s um I I know he doesn’t want to sign I I know he’s talking about not signing out handing out like big term right now but I don’t I don’t I think he I I think I think he probably takes a run at some of these guys maybe that Mike is very quiet about what he does like he doesn’t really like to tip his hand too much i don’t I don’t think just cuz he said I’m not looking to hand out term means that like he doesn’t take a run at some of these guys that are going to be out there
but definitely we hear the we heard the opposite from Mitch Martner over the week including from Elliot Freriedman and company where he said oh maybe I’ll take a threeear four year deal or two-year deal
sure
now we’re hearing it’s eight for for Vegas well um I mean I think
Well I look at hockey players are dumb no they are because really the most injuries that you get in hockey are recoverable right
right
um now there are exceptions to the rule where where guys have gotten hurt and thank God they signed that you know super max term deal and they got taken care of for it but most of these guys like even if they get hurt they’re they’re recoverable injuries and it doesn’t really we’ve seen guys get paid um after some pretty gnarly injuries where you think “Oh they can’t give them that much because of the injury history or whatever.” And and then they get paid right if I was an NHL player man I would I would sign shortterm why because with the cap going up you’re just going to keep ringing the bell at a higher amount y
um I and I think they’re dumb for not doing it
and the ether is enticing right like it’s it’s look and again it’s this is the last summer of eightear deals maybe maybe the last time maybe the second last I don’t know when the new CBA officially kicks in maybe it kicks in September so maybe I think it’s this coming season is the last year the current CBA and then we go into
Yeah if it starts in September and you get another July 1 before it kicks in you see what I’m saying ooh I getcha no that that might be something
so maybe there’s another summer of of eight-year deals left but so we’ll see i mean it depends on when the CBA kicks in right so but I but yeah I mean if you look at this is the this is going to be one of the last maybe the last opportunity but at least one of the last opportunities to get that eight-year uh to get that eighth year and hockey players they like again they’ve shown time and time again that they would rather the long-term stability over uh short-term monetary gain
yeah uh so they are in commercial which is great so this is probably where everybody starts running up to the podium and and uh select so and so
yeah so July 1st is the start of the new fiscal year for the league but the thing is that the CBA is supposed to expire September 15th
yes and so if you would you would assume that like unless there’s a memory of understanding that things are going to start before that um I I would assume that’s when the new CVA starts but yeah September 2026 so you could have another summer unless there’s something in the CBA that says that these rules are going to be retroactive to this free agency period i don’t know i haven’t seen no one’s no one has seen the uh we we’ve all we’ve all kind of seen snippets of this but it’s not ratified yet they haven’t signed the the papers aren’t signed yet so we’re still we’re getting snippets of what’s in it but we haven’t seen the document yet
yep so there’s there’s still a lot of uh there’s still a lot of speculation uh as as to what like officially is going to be here but it sounds like I mean this is great because uh the cobba obviously um was with labor piece but I mean the could the players really afford to go and be like “Nah this
we’re not doing any of this.” And like you know like that would have been the worst thing they could have done and uh but I’m I’m happy that we’ve we’re going to get another 5 years or whatever it is without uh without labor strife and I think it it helps too that like now all these players they’ve they’ve all played under the cap they don’t know of a world without the cap so it’s whereas like I think when you had a lot of those contentious CBAs after the cap came in you still had a lot of those players like no I hate the cap and we have to get rid of the cap and I’m going to shut down the league for a hundred million years or you know half the year or whatever to to not have a cap all these players that’s all they’ve ever known so um does anyone know what the story is with the full-time Ebug does that mean that they’re going to employ a amateur goalie oh you’re it’s weird so my understanding is is that Yeah it’s it sounds to me like that like I wonder if like the they want to obviously get to a situation where if you’re in a situation where the points really matter later in the season i love the Ebug stories the Ebug stories are great right like the never was comes in and
and does whatever um I think you’re going to see
guys like to me the the Ebug system like that’s for the Sharks that’s Arendelle isn’t it isn’t Arend Deli like your your Ebug now i I know AJ would probably say Nabakov to get the double dip but yeah it’s got to be Dell
it’s like But that that’s that’s who I feel like is going to fill these ro the the the older journeyman guys that have kind of just hung around to me that’s Arendelle
uh makes the most sense there but you maybe you know it’s a guy who you have around as kind of like a veteran guy but you’re not you know you’re not he’s not developing into anything at this point
right
um but I I don’t know that’s that’s the way I think it’s going to play out i’m curious to see how it actually plays out
right no we we need more info once that thing gets ratified i’m sure there’ll be a lot more doing you know going on and I knew one of the ebooks for the Sharks back was it 2014 i think it was right before Thanksgiving ryan Low uh was a goalender for San Jose State and he was actually in Los Angeles at the time he gets a call at 12:30 i think Niami had gone down and I believe I want to say it was was it Stale that year
probably
probably i might be wrong don’t quote me on that but he gets a call i literally teased him it’s like um so when are you getting a call from the Sharks he’s like I just did i’m getting on a flight right now to San Jose and changed and got in got in there and he he’s like you know he’s a he a huge Kings fan he was there for that tragic game seven like a few months prior and now he’s suiting up for in teal so that’s crazy uh so um mentioned yesterday there has not been a written CBA since 2013 interesting
i I mean the co the COVID CBA was an interesting one right because obviously it was a completely unprecedented situation i mean it had to go on paper at some point though i mean you can read it it’s online um uh the Sharks are now on the clock at pick number 150 uh we have Aiyoki went to Dallas at 146 male Fodorov went to St louis at 147 quinn Bushain went to Pittsburgh at 148 a defenseman and Ottawa just selected Dichi Isov uh at 149 so the Sharks this is their for now second to last pick in this draft
oh just a Okay it was an MOU that makes sense yeah memor of understanding yeah all right so waiting to hear from from those in the building that would probably be the first indication of who we get but then again you know
yeah I think after this I after this we are going to we are going to cut it short and I do appreciate everyone who hung out with us all this time i mean
um I hope this was good yeah it’s uncharted terri i mean still we’ve never done this before on the second day cuz again like my when when they said they’re going to do this I I did and it Jules is not lying i I I came into this dream I’m like this is this is a terrible idea just and my point was just because like it’s going to get to the point now where we’re drafting players where like we don’t really know anything like you the the first one’s good because like you you kind of know all the names and you’ve you know you’ve seen the names and you’ve kind of seen the hype and whatever but once you get like into this point in the draft man it’s like they drafted this guy he plays in you know Kazakhstan uh and that’s that like right so waiting any moment now for that last pick uh there’s stallings which which of course come on Mike come on Mike anytime now but uh
yeah kevin Kevin saying “I think the Sharks might be trading this big.” Uh Jill Jules is saying “Ian is mean to me.” Uh is that the case the Sharks just got a warning oh boy uh oh nope uh with the 150th pick in the 2025 NHL draft the San Jose Sharks have selected Oh crap where’d it go damn it i hate when that happens uh Max Heist max Heist all right let’s find out what we got here belongs to
how dare they
max Heis uh is a player from the Western Hockey League he is a D+1 player um he plays for the Prince Al he played for the Prince Albert Raiders uh he is a he’s jumped from the BCHL he played in the BCHL last year he’s playing for Prince Albert this year uh and he’s also committed to the university uh Michigan State University uh the year after apparently uh Pentictton V’s like if you’re going to draft out of the BCHL that’s the team to draft out of pentictton Ves are actually going to be in the Western Hockey League next year if I remember correctly
uh nothing nothing amazing here um 40 points in the BCHL again I don’t I don’t rank that super high uh Jerry with the super chat before we get out of here
yes uh hi Jerry thanks
thanks for doing these two live streams uh my youngest son and I have been following on and when we have been able great coverage well thank you
thank you very much Jerry appreciate it
yeah um yeah so another D+1 player but again I don’t I don’t know i’m I’m not fussed here uh what they do at this like what they what they do here doesn’t really isn’t going to impact my grade significantly at this point because again it’s just it’s just it is what it is right all right Ian we need to get some rest take us home
take us home right um
I got to press all the buttons sorry I don’t have them
you can’t make me you can’t make me i have to stay on forever can’t make me
i I swear that I swear that was you earlier when we were me trying to come dragging me in all right h in case you missed this or for some reason if you ever want to watch this again uh you can find it on our YouTube channel uh this will not be on our podcast stream just due to the length and the the format of the show however if you are looking for something on your pods draft stream we will be on tomorrow at 6 Pacific 9 Eastern we will be talking about the uh entire draft class giving our thoughts so please tune in for that uh if you want to listen to the comment I always read the comments if you want to leave us like subscribe do all the YouTube you know how to do it by now uh I am tired i am probably going to lose my voice at some point so that’s the other reason I need to get the hell out of here um but yeah I mean that’s that’s it man when the Sharks do good it’s good i think they’ve done good i don’t think they I don’t know if they’ve done great i’m gonna I’m gonna let this go we’re gonna get some thoughts and we’ll and we will uh deal with this tomorrow
absolutely yeah appreciate uh everyone coming on marty no it will not be a six-hour show tomorrow
no no god no i have to work at I have to work the next morning man it’s going to be nice tight concise so that we can get onto the uh
so we can get it on the podcast stream because obviously I want something for the for the audio people to listen to um only weak people shut up Kevin who also lost his voice and had to bail
uh and not the least of which is plenty of content we will separate the interviews that we did at the draft party and put them on the audio stream as well and then don’t forget I guess tomorrow at 6 p.m uh Jules will do a free agent live stream uh so there’ll be a bunch of us coming in and out for that
i’m going to say that’s a terrible idea too just because why not and it’ll be a smashing success
absolutely uh and then I believe Jules and AJ will be at the prospect scrimmage and then it’s kind of a summer vacation we just don’t have any cottages to go to and like the
in right so expect weird summer content to
Yes july 16th definitely we’ll have the uh schedule stream as always
yes all right uh so with that good night thank you
good night [Music]
