Giants vs D-backs Game Highlights (7/2/25) | MLB Highlights

Right hander Mel Kelly, he’s lost twice in his last three starts beaten by the Padres in the Marlins. However, when Merrill faced the Giants earlier this year at Oracle Park, he went a strong seven innings, didn’t walk a batter struck out eight gave up one earned run on eight hits in that ballgame. Hopefully a repeat performance tonight for me. So here’s Mike Yrs, he’s going to leave things up, got some extra base on, on me, Kelly and he hits one high, he hit it and out of here, what I say, extra base, you just said it, he has some extra base on and no later than that, another one he already had three home runs coming in to tonight versus Merrill Kelly and make that four on is on as your partner usually says, that’s a way to start the ball game off and Merrill bounces back from the leadoff homer back to back strikeout the 31 and it’s off the plate ball for two out walk and it keeps the going for a nifty hitter, Jung Lee at least four for his last 53 at the plate. He is definitely struggling Lee drives one to deep right field headed toward the pool mccarthy back. He’ll leap and he can’t catch it. It’s off the wall coming around third. W Flores, he’s going to score racing to third Lee. The throw is, he slides in safely with a triple and it’s two nothing giants stretch it out. W grandson of the win was catching Wilmer Flores. Wilmer chug it and makes it home and Jung Lee scorched one just a little too much top spin. Otherwise that was going to be a splash home run Arizona style. And it’s the young commander as I like to call Landon root for the Giants on the hill today. 6 to 5 with a 343 81 in the third inning, 74 strikeouts, 34 walks. He works fast. He attacks here’s a swing, fly ball right center field that is sinking quickly and it’s down in front of a leadoff base hit ahead of the all star Marte and a pop up. Adam chases wisely and makes the catch one away and up comes Pavin smith now a ground ball right back to rope. He’s got it throws to second low for one. Adam to first in the dirt pulled out by Wilmer Flores and the Giants get the double play. Josh had a 13 game hitting streak snapped in that game against Miami Friday the last time he played and welcome back , Josh Taylor dunks it into right center starts a new streak that swing a little more under control that time on. Go ahead of a Suarez swing and a Miss Suarez is out. You have to respect that. He’s got the big lead right on the fastball and Then this change up and it’s just kind of middle of the zone all the way down to the bottom of the zone that starts up high. That Logan drop the change up. It is nice to miss what pitch was that, joe that be the change up? Second strike out for Landon and a nice for him here is Lee Kelly set down five in a seven of the last eight since the Lee, I have just the two hits the leadoff homer in the lead and it into the gap and Lee is on the move and Lee is going to wisely stop at second base. Now there you go. A little leadoff, double two absolute bullets after just one little day off, freshen up, get the mind right and maybe something in the swing maybe just feel a little bit looser. But man, has he been right on everything for me? Kelly, that’s two just purified line drives right in the gap and second for luis Matos Matos got under this one and way under it for gurriel Lee is at second and he’ll be content to stay there. There’s one out in the fourth, they’ll bring up the catcher Patrick Bailey from the stretch , the 12 broken back chopper to third Suarez gloves, Lee stop now goes to third and Paven wisely not going to make a throw because now there are two outs and here’s the number eight hitter Tyler Fitzgerald swung on and a fly ball to right mccarthy once again is coming in settles and makes the grab. The inning is over and Meryl Kelly has done exactly that leadoff double for the Giants fails to score. The Diamondbacks against the Giants this year have won four out of the five match ups. They’ve hit 13 homers hit 292 as a team. Here’s another base hit pa splits the gap. Lee over to cut it off. Pavin’s digging for second. He’s got a hustle and he’s in there aggressive turn there from Pavin Smith and it’s a leadoff hustle double. That is a hustle double right there in line and threw it off line into second base. Nice slide there by Pavin to avoid any possible tr B I chance for Josh Naylor picks up a base hit in the second. This is way out in the left center field. John Lee is on the move. He’s going to track it down. Smith is going to go back in tag and he will get into third. So that’s about as long a productive out as you’re going to get in this ballpark. Here’s Suarez swing and a miss struck him out. Groom, a 32 change up big time pitch there from Landon Roth two gone and goal takes the walk, second walk by and mccarthy has a chance. Jake is strike out his first time swings here grounds it right to first on one hop will field it and Then just one step over the bag to get the out on mccarthy is over. Very nice work there from Landon rope. After the leadoff double James could use a big hit from Rafi Devers. He’s one of the better run producers in the game has not been doing that kind of damage in a Giants uniform Devers hits one sharply into right field base, hit past the dive of smith in to score wisely. It’s three nothing giants big two out hit for Devers and that’s the, you’re talking about landed with a 30 lead. He’s won three of his last four starts here. Alec Thomas starts the fifth. Alec Thomas hits a high fly ball to ride and the Diamondbacks are on the board. That’s the fifth for Alex Thomas , the eighth home run given up all year by Landon Roop. This is his 17th start. Here comes josh Naylor, chance to make a big splash back in the lineup. He’s already got one hit, lifts this out to right. Yastrzemski is there. Herrera is at third. Here comes Hosey and it’s a 3 to 2 game for Josh and is the batter he is facing the left hand Miller 1st and 3rd down by one. Suarez strikes out swinging on a slider. That was good work for Miller. Maybe his best outing in a long time. A single and a walk 12 on for Patrick Bailey hits a liner into center field base hit Lee will score. Patrick Bailey drives in the run. It’s 4 to 2 giants. That’s a big hit. Wiseley will be wisely pulls one into right field base hit coming around third is Monto and he’s going to score, it’s 5 to 2 and will get second base mccarthy up to the plate. Mccarthy knocks it into center. They will win. The throw is cut off and it’s 5 to 3. The RB I for Jake who’s two for four, tell you what he is back from Reno and he is here to swing the bat. He’s hit safely in seventh straight for no aboard for the fifth time. And that brings the time run up to the plate. Here is the all star second baseman for the national league with a drive. The all star comes up big time. His 18th has made it 5 to 5. They don’t get much bigger than that. You think he knew it right away and a strike away from extra innings as the two swung on and missed, he’s down on strikes. The D backs have life. Once again thanks to the Marte home run, we go to the 10th on the corners. No outs. Bailey has walked, he had an RBI single against Woodford Bailey swings hits a fly ball deep left center field tagging a third heading home and he’ll score without a throw and the Giants have reclaimed the lead at 6 to 5 and there are two out now in the bottom of the 10th one is in the, and the Giants get an enormous.

  1. Glad to see the team wash off the stink of the losing streak and this was a good ball game. If SF could absorb a little if AZs style of play it would help to patch up some cracks: base hits, steals, scoring runs, hustle: this is how they started the year, scratching at runs, small ball, and manufacturing runs and wins. Its also a satisfying and engaging style of play for the fans. Right now it looks like SF is a game or game and a half behind STL for the third WC slot and a half a game behind the stinking Friars but still a lot of baseball left isnt it the greatest sports season and such a fantastic treat in the summertime!

  2. SF, where hitters go to die. Can we send Fitzgerald down and get someone else that can freaking hit? Oh and trade Doval. He's a blown save waiting to happen, ffs.
