It’s a small free agency when a 20-25 goal scorer is the sweepstake player. He’s still good, I’m not hating on him! Just a sweepstakes makes me think of Tavares, Kane (a few years ago), panarin, etc.
When Ehlers is one of the top players available you know it is a weak FA market. Sweepstakes is really stretching it though 😂
A major free agent wanted us! Finally
I think he’s better than what his stays with the Jets are showing. I would put money on him taking it up a notch with the Canes.
60 point guy and the only real playoff team in the running was probably Carolina. Lol.
Hard to believe you would leave a team (The Jets) on the upswing with the best goaltender on the planet……
(And just won President’s Cup – sounds familiar hey pre Stanley Cup Champions….Capitals, Knights and Panthers??)
….for a team that has no reliable goalie, no chance it will ever get past Florida, and has a head coach that absolutely will stifle/kill Nic’s playing style/creativity…???!!!
Guess that’s what $8.5 million/$51 million over 6 years will do to a guy who prioritizes money over championships.
Is it really a sweepstakes if you are the one paying out the money?
I think it’s fair to say Carolina is committed to making this team 3rd or 4th best.
A surprise to absolutely nobody
Lifelong Jets fan here. Ehlers is injured a lot and he almost spends more time falling on the ice than skating. Big heart and great speed, but inconsistent.
