MLB Highlights | Yankees vs. Blue Jays – July 3, 2025
[Applause] 3-2. He got him right on the inside corner. Strike three call. [Applause] Archer hits it hard to the opposite field. It is off the wall. Springer is getting the wave around third and will come in to score as the Blue Jays have an early one to nothing lead. 3-2 again. Got him. So he had to throw a lot of pitches to PZA, but he eventually gets him and Strands a runner.
Big story for them early on. The way he was swinging the bat. Highfly ball left center. He has put a lot into this one and he has hit it out.
Gisham going to the opposite field for his 16th home run of the season to tie the game. [Applause] It was a cutter that stayed right in the middle of the plate. Kirk wants this to cut in. And you can see it just spun and spiraled and didn’t do much. And you know what they say about a cutter that doesn’t cut. It’s a bad fast ball. It’s my Yes, it’s only the third inning. And yes, it’s tied early. Ground ball to short. Clement to Jimenez and on to first and they turn a double play. We’ll take it. Well hit ball to right center field. It’s gone [Music] right on Q. George Springer with some more damage and the Blue Jays lead three to one. make the pitcher come into your zone. Just keep doing what you’re doing and it’s it’s a huge reason why they’re having a better offensive year. Here’s Jason Dominguez with another hit to the opposite field. And he is on his way to third and will be in there as the throw in from the outfield was a little too high for Clement to come down with cleanly.
Dominguez not trying to go for a double in his first atbat. This time he’s rounding second and going to third. And the throw is just a little high for Clement to corral. If he comes down with us, he may have a pretty good play at third base, but either way, he is in there safely. And when you do that, you can increase your bat speed. You can see the ball a little bit longer.
In the air to right and down for a base hit for Vulpi. Dominguez in to score. And the Yankees get back within one. does not want to go down by much more. That one down and in and it gets past Kirk and a run comes in to tie the game and a fair ball down the line. What an at bat for Nathan Lucas and a two-run double puts the Blue Jays back on top. Runner goes from first. They throw through and it’s dropped by Jimenez, but fortunately it didn’t get by him into the outfield. So Judge still at third has stolen base for Dominguez. Another slider and it’s hammered to deep right and it’s gone. What a night Addison Barger is having and what a force he has become in this offense. What a season Addison Barger.
That good load and that slow move to the ball. It allows you to see the ball better and longer you pick up. Judge at second, Bellinger at first, and a drive to left center field off the bat of Chisum and it’s off the wall on the fly. Judge in to score. Bellinger held at third. It’s a double for Chisum and it’s six to four and a ground ball to short. This will get a run home. Clement throws out Bulpi. So Bellinger scores Chisum to third. Two down and it’s six to five. [Applause] And Springer drills it to deep left center. And he’s done it again. What an incredible series George Springer has had against the Yankees. looking to do damage and always looking to get the ball in the air. Jo the 2-1 on the way and it’s lined to center field and the Blue Jays have just swept a four game series from the Yankees and are now alone in top spot in the American League East. What a week for How about those standings?
The Toronto Blue Jays secured the 4-game sweep over the New York Yankees with an 8-5 victory, and claim top spot in the AL East in the process. Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt logged 9 strikeouts in just 5.2 innings of work.

2015: The Blue Jays are 1st in the AL East for the first time in a long time

Two seasons ago, the Blue Jays brass kept touting this concept called "internal improvements". Both of those seasons were crappy, with no one really internally improving except for Spencer Horwitz, who is now with the Pirates, and Vladdy. This season, the term "internal improvements" has not been uttered once, but that's exactly what we have here. Bichette, Springer, Kirk, Barger, Clement, Lukes, Schneider and even the injured Varsho have all improved their batting this season over last. It has made all of the difference. And Vlad hasn't gotten hot, yet.
I am in the all black clapping at the 8th inning home run. First baseball game definitely wonβt be my last!!!!! The ball was like maybe 7 ft to the left (right on the replay) me but no chance I could have caught it. Amazing series go jays!!
