Royals vs. Mariners Game Highlights (7/3/25) | MLB Highlights

For Logan Evans, it is the third time that we are seeing him in the big leagues. He is making his eighth big league start coming off a rough outing in Tacoma where he allowed eight earned runs on nine hits on Saturday, but we know that he has shown a lot of poise, a lot of control up here in Seattle. Jonathan India is in the right-handed batters box. The O2 a swing and a miss and India goes down quickly on three pitches.
That’ll bring up Bobby Wood Jr. Swing and a miss. And that cutter is cooking early from Logan Evans. And now here’s Vinnie Pasquantino in play over to Young. A very quick nine pitch inning. And now the Royals hand the ball to Seth Lugo. Right man in the right place here tonight to get the split. This will be the ninth time this year that he has taken the ball after a Royals loss. And his ERA in the first eight is 2.28. Hit on the ground to the right side. Jonathan India shuffles to his right, picks it up, throws to first in time for the out. One away for Lugo in the bottom of the first. A rare walk for Julio. One out and one on for Cal Raleigh. Julio takes off, swung out and missed. The throw, the tag by Whit and Julio is safe.
Julio Rodriguez with his 100th career stolen base. Here’s Randy Rose Arena. A
Rose Arena punches it to straightaway center and hangs up for Kyle Isbel. One step back, he makes the catch. A Rosarin is out and the inning is over. Mikel Garcia leads off. Williamson, that’s a fair ball. Long throw ahead on a skip in plenty of time. And another fine play by Ben Williamson at third base. The pinch. Swinging a ground ball right to Cole Young at second. Gobles it up. Throws the first. That’s it for Rave. And the Royals in the second. Six in a row sit down. Designated hitter Jorge Palanco leading off. Line drive and it’s over past Quentino. Palanco will make the turn. This kicks off the short wall. Ray a throw to second base and Palanco is safe. Draws ball four. Is aboard. The Mariners have the first two men reach. Swung on and miss. Strike three. Elevated cutter. Can zone chased.
Here’s second baseman Cole Young.
Fast ball sliced in the air down the third base line. Mike El Garcia is underneath it. He makes the catch. Young’s out and that ends the inning. Nick Loftton leads off. Chopping left side, Williamson over to first. Well, you wouldn’t know it by the first eight batters that he gave up eight runs in just three innings in his last start in TripleA.
Here’s the 3-2 swung chopped right to second base. Young has it off a big hop. Little lob toss to first in time to get the out. Logan Evans an excellent start to this one. Nine up, nine down to start this game. JP Crawford top of the order leading things off on the ground and it finds its way through. JP Crawford is aboard. 02 pitch and a swing and a miss at a breaking ball. And there’s the strike out by Seth Lugo. That’s his third strike out of the night. So now Randy Arosa Rain is having a monster series. Another 3-2 and Salvi wants it and he’s got him with a gold glove play.
Salvi throws a strike. A blind throw. He had to get up and just fire blindly down to Vinnie. He got him. Here’s India. And Jonathan has a leadoff walk. So he’s on now for Bobby. He fouls it right back to the glove of Cal Raleigh. Second time that Logan Evans has struck out Bobby Wood Jr. So the Royals first and second, one out. And the batter is Michael Garcia. 2-1 swing and a grounder through the hole on the left side of base hit. India will be held at third base. Now, now the bases are loaded for Salvador Perez. Goes after the first pitch. Shadow right field. Raley and Young going out. It is Cole Young to make the catch and India stays anchored over a third. That’s a huge second out. So now it’s Rave. Ground ball finds JP Crawford onto first base. Logan Evans gets out of a bases loaded jam.
Here’s Palano for the Mariners. Bottom of the fourth inning. No score. Palanco deep fly ball out to right field. It continues to carry and continues to get out. Jorge Palanco gets the Mariners on the board. A go-ahead home run of the fourth inning.
Just over the wall in right field and the Mariners have the lead. It is one- nothing. Here’s a pitch to him. Swung on a drive to center field. Isbell looking up that smashes the wall. around first base. He’s steaming it to second. He’s got a double.
So the Mariners get a lead off home run, but after that they had a runner at second with nobody out. And Lugo pitches around that. One- nothing Seattle. Freddy Firm mean will make the turn and go to third and put two on, two out for Bobby Jr. You got to be careful right here in this situation through that bat. Swinging a fly ball straight away center field. Shallow Kenzone racing in on the run. He’s there. reaches up and he makes the catch and that’s going to retire the side.
And here is Julio with the bases empty. Rodriguez strikes out for a second time against Lugo.
That brings up Cal Raleigh breaking ball high in the air. Shallow right center field. John Rae drifts in. He’s underneath it and makes the catch and the inning is over.
So two quick outs. Here’s Salvi.
Look at how far Cal Raleigh is set up outside. He missed the spot and there’s a line drive off the wall in left field for Salvi. A Rosa Raina’s throw comes in a little late.
That’s going to be it for Logan Evans who was brilliant tonight against the Royals. He’ll get a standing ovation on his way out. Logan Evans brilliant. So the Royals with two base runners now for Nick Loftton.
Swung on. Little looper short right field. Here comes Kzone ranging in. He’s right there to make the catch off the shoulder and that’s it for the Royals in the six. That’ll bring up Luke who’s walked and doubled in his two plate appearances. Swung on. Slow roller right side. Long run. India goes to a dive. Snares it. Throws to first. It’s wide. It’s near the Mariners dugout. It gets into the dugout. So will take second base. Here’s Kzone.
90th pitch of the night. And it is cut on and missed. So Lugo does not let the air bother him. Backto back walks.
There are two on with one out in a one-run game. Vargas is coming on. Bobby the batter in a big situation and a swing and a liner into left center for a base hit. Here comes Isbel around third. He’ll score going first to third is India. Bobby drives in the tying run. It’s 1-1 here in the seventh inning.
And that is a Royals record 23game road hitting streak. And
so now they’re at the corners with one down for Vinnie Pascantino. Then he swings and grounds it by the diving first baseman for a base hit. India scores with coming around third. Here’s the throw home. He is save. Two-run score on a base hit to right by Vinnie Pascino. And the Royals lead it three to one. And what a slide from Bobby Wit Jr. He comes streaking around third. The throw beat him to the plate. He slid in feet first, picked up his left arm around Cal Raleigh’s tag attempt, and then slapped home plate with his right hand. It was a swim move around home plate. That’s an incredible slide.
Incredible move cuz the throw did beat him.
That’s one of the best slides I’ve ever seen.
We go to the bottom of the seventh inning. 3-1 KC.
Williamson aboard to lead off the seventh inning. Immediately brings up the rookie Cole Young. That is a called third strike and good late movement. He had Young jumping backward and so Lugo will be coming out. Did exactly what he was supposed to do. Kept his team in the game till they got him the lead.
Good night for Seth Lug. And now there’s two down for the Mariners here in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Here’s Palanco. Pulls this down the line and fair that kicks around. That really kicks around and now they’re saying it’s an automatic double
and the Mariners bring the potential tied run to the plate in left-handed hitting. Lukeley and Muero is going to his closer.
That’s a bloop to right. Here comes Rave. He’s there and he’s got it. And the inning is over. Dom can zone will lead things off. This is cracked out to center field. Really driven back and gone. Dom can zone. The chef’s kiss. A one-run game.
And here comes a pinch hitter Miles Mastone to bat for Ben Williamson. up to right field dropping and it’s a base hit
and the winning run is at home plate and Cole Young swung on and miss strike three and that’ll bring up JP Crawford into left field base hit Matt Straone pushes into second base Crawford is aboard and the line keeps on moving here in the ninth inning
and look who’s coming up here’s Julio Rodriguez to the back stop and a 390 ft. Fast ball called strike three over the inside edge. An enormous pitch from Carlos. All-star Cal Raleigh just named American League player of the month. McCain comes to him now with two outs and two on.
Hit on the ground weekly right side. India scoops it up. Glove lit to pass Quentino in time for the out and the Royals hang on to beat the Mariners.

  1. Julio has to swing at 3-2 in that last at bat… A 3-2 count where you gotta protect & the double play was just erased via wild pitch. He should know that the pitcher needs to throw him a strike to avoid loading the bases for Cal. He takes strike three on a foulable pitch. Not to mention anything in play probably scores a run. GREEN LIGHT?!

  2. Julio is the least clutch "Superstar" I've ever seen. He has 1 career walkoff, which was last year, and unless he walks, he doesn't do a damn thing. It also pisses me off when he pimps a walk, as if it's a home run or something!

  3. Why salvi at first.. yikes 😬😳 don't understand that keep as a DH or behind the plate .. he is old and swimming.. and the days of Wade Davis are over.. 2015

  4. Julio has become a caricature of himself at this point. Its embarrassing really but I'm starting to enjoy the trainwreckiness of it all becoming entertainment😅😅😅😅
