INSIDE the Sharks’ Home: Locker Room, Gym & Surprisingly Empty Arena
we are standing near the training complex of the entire San Jose Shark system here not only the NHL players and the main team prepare and train but also the team’s AHL affiliate the Barracuda this is basically what the arena looks like and and by the way it’s fairly new at least from the outside it’s beautifully done this is the main entrance I believe what I noticed in San Jose there’s really a lot of different arts and graffiti around what does the Sharks practice rink look like well friends it looks like this so they’ve got So they’ve got these metal bleachers here um sitting on metal bleachers is well it’s not the most comfortable feeling especially considering we’re next to the ice they’re really cold seriously overall the place doesn’t look brand new or super modern for example if you look at the scoreboard it’s completely basic and simple i even say kind of old honestly it’s really old let’s not kid ourselves this is the one that apparently was built back in 1994 before the expansions in 2000 and 2005 it really has that oldtime vibe to be honest and you can tell it’s more for figure skating most likely i mean people come here with their kids they change they’re on benches for changing here okay so the first drill uh you shoot then you go around the cone get a pass fire off a shot pass it back so basically these are Brady’s standard drills one on zero it’s just a warm up [Music] so the only place I know here this is the stick rack i’ve been looking for my stick for like 15 minutes for your stick what interesting stuff do you have here these are you know last year they made uh lights model what is it called hyperlight agent agent i think I just asked for the agent but they made hyperllight pouring oh so this is agent this is agent can’t you feel how light they are you’ve got a 28 curve right curve i don’t even know it’s Cucherov’s curve he kind of customized it himself so I asked Ba for Cooerovs oh really maybe maybe that way I’ll get some points too you’ve been playing with that for quite a while i don’t know probably for 4 years yeah in the NHL I was using CCM sticks i was with Alex Romanov and he told me that a lot of players are switching to Cuch’s curve because he scored 120 points i told him “Just give me at least 5% of that.” No they say it’s really easier for them to do different things like making backhand passes shooting digging pucks out along the boards i don’t know i heard a lot of guys saying that because uh the curve is too deep it’s awkward like it’s hard to receive passes i don’t know maybe I’m just used to it i can’t use anything else so I tried playing with Datuk’s curve this summer well that one’s a very specific set it’s the one really like if you just want to shoot low it’s It’s more of a playmaker stick yeah the guy didn’t even need to shoot he could just tie you up and nod yeah dital’s the same way you know Dital’s really wild with his little bit like Yeah like that they’re constantly texting each other no wait dital Yeah he he is close with him he told me last year you know like after games he texted something like “Hey what do you think about my mistakes?” But I don’t know how true it is just what I heard that’s what he said last year that’s interesting so friends here’s the San Jose locker room there are TVs here this is where they break down the games stick rack some other stuff there’s the saod door our doctor is a kind of a particular guy he asked not to film in the doctor’s room but uh basically you know it’s got like a cold tub hot tub massage chairs nothing too fancy honestly just like in any other teams your fields nothing’s different laundry set up here laundry washing room let’s go to the gym now yeah the gym is good here well the locker room here at the practice facility is really nice feel like that one in the main arena is weaker when I first came to the main arena I was like dude where did we end up jeez I don’t even go into that only in the summer i even tried to avoid it in the summer yeah right tell me about it i saw how you prep i don’t like it you know I’m allergic to chickens but seriously yeah I have to go of course man you’re always jagged i mean look at yourself i’m telling you is the [Applause] burgers look by the way here’s a cool feature check it out the seats light up in Columbus we saw the cannon and in San Jose we see how the players skate out from the shark’s mouth and here’s what it looks like [Music] this is what it looks like live in terms of little touches it’s pretty cool look they announce the players and the lights glow in different tones let’s say a different tempo you see that hopefully the camera is capturing it all hey look they announce and it’s like some kind of like starry Milky Way there’s literally no one in the stands i mean you can even see it behind me no one there and look it’s all empty empty empty completely empty almost all the seats even the $300 ones are empty and not just $300 even $19 seats are empty not to mention the $300 ones of course the team’s results really have a big impact on the business but the shark jaw hanging there just topnotch look at these big heavy duty mounts this looks awesome and by the way there’s Merllo’s banner up in the raptor so here we’ve got jerseys and laundry laundry the guys change over here that’s how they set up the lockers rows so this is where the food is yeah they play videos here daily is that the coach reviewing things with the But let’s just hope they don’t notice me otherwise yeah they just usually put food there some lunch you’ve got a fridge here and grab it while you’re eating you can watch TV for the sixth time man this is cool look he’s laughing the guys are eating here they post the schedule there you see and the lineups too so everyone knows who’s playing with whom and doing what the gym oh there it is yeah the gym and all the humblest guys gather here the real pros yeah all the pros spinning on the bikes for 2 hours after every practice oh you know what this gym is nice there are a dine bikes and so on the music’s playing you’re riding the bike with a view on mountain ranges some Albine Meadows it’s really really beautiful not even the NHL has views like this absolutely top level adjustable dumbbells and barbells oh there’s a second floor it’s all wooden here just as my arms okay I get it what’s upstairs um upstairs is another gym we’ll head up there now let’s go through the locker room looks like none of the guys are here right now it’s just a regular changing room here’s what the lockers look like is that your second spot for the sharks yeah they gave it to me can you show it please oh they wrapped it with regular packing tape yeah I’m telling you there’s no budget for the tape what’s up what’s up no idea who that [Laughter] is but I’m kidding all the guys are awesome here [Music]

I don’t know how you don’t have 500k – 1mil subscribers yet! Elite videos!!! Thank you so much for providing us with the behind the scenes access ❤. I also appreciate getting to know the Russian players a bit better. They are much more comfortable in their native tongue 😊
How many rinks are in there ?
It may not be be fulled NOW, but when the sharks were playoff contenders a few years back it was very different. For years the Tank was constantly sold out and it was the loudest arena in the League
