This is an all time dumbass move
i don’t know if this is how you treat your all-star franchise goalender in an elimination game and it might mean the end of this iteration of the Dallas Stars After letting in two goals on the first two shots Peter Dbor calls a timeout and lays into his team And fair to him that second goal was atrocious The Oilers beat them on a line change where the Stars jump off with the urgency of a beer leaguer I’m faster than them on Saturday night pickup and I’m not fast And as Jake Auer starts skating back to the net Dbor starts heckling him to get his ass back here because he’s done for the night in Casey Des Smith is in That is the quickest Otter has ever been yanked just over 7 minutes in this one And it wasn’t over there Dbor continued and doubled down in his postgame presser and throws Jake under the bus saying “If you go back to last year he’s lost six of seven games to the Oilers Then he gives up two goals on two shots You know that status quo has not been working and that’s a pretty big sample size So yikes You got to wonder if this is Pete’s last game in Dallas or if they’ll run it all back next year But I don’t know I’m doubtful You want to talk about sample size Peter debor over the last seven seasons You’ve lost in six conference finals Six of them So I don’t know There’s a glass house with a few cracks in it So maybe put the stone down And how did pulling Otter go in the end well also not great because just 2 minutes later Jeff Skinner Jeff Skinner would score his first career playoff goal as Dallas just completely fails to track the puck and it’s three nothing oil pigs You’ll love to see it You know somewhere in a Buffalo Wilds wing a man just fell to his knees crying Beautiful That’s the Stanley Cup playoffs But even with the goalie shenanigans we did have a game on our hands as once again Jason Robertson shows up to play and gets one back before the period’s through giving Stars fans some hope Then in the second Rupe Hence gets one on the PP to bring them within one But unfortunately the best player in the world did play for the other team last night and he makes them pay with an absolute dazzler just 2 minutes later just destroying the hope of Dallas fans Matias Ekholm by the way first game back in the lineup He blocks a shot and the puck goes flying to McDavo who gets on his horse He grabs it streaks in onto Smith hints on his heels and he fakes backhand before pulling it back tucking it 4-2 Oilers And honestly one of the nicer goals from McDavid even though he’s the fastest man in the NHL Hence did a great job keeping up with him It just wasn’t quite enough Jason Robo would score another one off the top of the third But then Edmonton responds in a matter of minutes as Evander Kane gets his fifth and deflates the whole barn I was worried and I still am worried about the loss of Heyman but man does this Oilers team have some depth scoring The Stars would never look close again as they only get off three more shots the whole period They lose 63 as Kappa gets another empty netter And so we’ve got ourselves a rematch of last year’s cup finals between the Oilers and Panthers The first Finals Cup rematch since 0809 when we had Panthers Penguins battling it out in back-to-back years Fun fact we were still in high school back then and Brandon was the one who hosted the big game seven watch party at his mom’s place Shout out Joanne And we’ve got some fun comparisons to that year as well It was the first year Crosby and company made the finals They don’t touch the Prince of Wales trophy They lose in seven to Detroit Same as the Oilers last year This year Mc Jesus grabs hold of the Campbell trophy while Dry Cell takes it back to the dressing room and gives it a stern talking to But remember that’s also the move Crosby did on his second run against the Red Wings And what do you know it worked as Crosby won his first cup in seven Sid also scooped up the Wales trophy when they won backto back in 1516 So we’ll see in McDavid gets the same luck For what it’s worth if we go back further the rematch before Pens and Wings was Oilers and Islanders where the second run is where Gretzky won his first cup against that Islanders dynasty Seems like history might be ready to repeat For Canada’s sake I hope so But what do you think the Oilers this time also have home ice advantage which believe it or not they haven’t had the whole playoffs Are the Cats going back to back or will Connor and Canada finally get some hardware let us know below
Peter DeBeor pulled Dallas’ franchise goalie 7 minutes into an elimination game and it did noooot work out for the Stars. The Oilers score on their next shot and still lose. Pete then decides to double down like he’s a KFC sandwich in his post game presser. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!

Edmonton Oilers will finally bring a cup to Canada 🇨🇦
That gieco checking add is actually the worst thing ever
No Cup for DeBoer
The only thing you do with Peter DeBoer is beat the Avalanche. That is it.
Stars should learn how to win games 5 v 5 rather than relying on being awarded power plays to win games. I think this would be a better approach than blaming the goaltending.
I’m not exactly a hockey expert but I thought the same thing…he pulled him during a pivotal game and then dragged him in the press afterwards…
Hinz had a broken foot on that chase, so doubly impressive for him keeping up to McJesus
florida in 6
Damn calling the oilers oil pigs is a little uncalled for
Great historical tidbits, never would have known about the back to back stuff
The funniest thing about that Det/Pitts back to back was (and I really like and respect Marian Hossa) Hossa losing with Pittsburgh in 08, only to join the Red Wings and lose TO Pittsburgh the following year.
Ghost of Mike Keenen!
Remember they paid Rantanen 12 mill for this 😂😂😂😂😂
You guys are gonna lose Robertson lmao
I wouldn't have made the move if I were in DeBoer's shoes but if, after the game, he'd said fair or not, a goalie has to make magician-level saves in the playoffs for their team to win the cup and Otter wasn't doing that, so he decided he couldn't risk the game getting more out of hand before he did something, I wouldn't have loved it, but I'd have understood and been okay with that. The team clearly wasn't headed for a victory as things were, so he tried shaking them up. Fine.
But doubling down in the presser was BS, and really stupid. Talking to the media and placing ANY blame on Otter has zero benefit for him or the team. The only thing it can do is further damage (and possibly permanently destroy) his relationship with his franchise goalie. WTF? And the way he made the change? Letting Otter start back toward the net and then yelling for him to get off the ice? That's the kind of move a petulant bully makes, not a leader.
If I'm Jim Nill, there's no way I'm gonna risk losing a top-tier tendy in the league who's still young and hungry enough to grow and improve a whole lot more. The guy could literally become the best keeper in the league over the next few years. So the first thing I'm doing is figuring out if Otter and DeBoer's relationship can be salvaged, and if it can't, DeBoer immediately becomes a memory. It's just way too much easier finding a cup-capable coach than a cup-capable goaltender. Oh, and as a final thought, if I'm any of the numerous teams in desperately need of an upgrade in their crease, on the off chance Dallas's front office has gone brain-dead, I'd already be on the phone trying to work a trade for Otter.
I feel like Florida is winning the finals in 6, and if not in 6, then in 5. Edmonton is playing a lot better I find this year compared to last year. Skinner is also playing a lot better in goal, and Darnell nurse isn’t punching in own goals. (I like to call that nursing the net) however, Florida has better D core, Brad Marchand, a lot of chemistry despite new players, they are very constructed, and I just feel like they are all around the better team. They also have no injuries, and Zach Hyman is injured for Edmonton, and obviously he’s a pretty crucial player for them.
No choice but to switch when they're at that point..
It means the end of DeB00b.
No it isn't Deboer sealed his fate. Especially with his interview blaming Otter for his last two series against Edmonton. Get your team ready to play, wide open players in front of the net. Buh Bye
Send DeBoer packing!
This American hopes Edmonton ends the drought and brings the Cup back to Canada. 🇨🇦
This is how you use elite player material.
