Development Camp Update (7/1): Marleau
What’s it like being out there on the ice with your dad?
Uh, I love it. I mean, it’s just uh like I think it’s a a kid’s dream just to play in the NHL, but then uh you know um getting my dad there, too. I think it’s like it’s pretty good and getting like all his info and everything.
And then for these next few days, what are you kind of looking to work on?
Um just develop, like kind of see where I’m at with everyone else. Um I’m just here to like have fun. Um, and uh, yeah, just kind of, you know, do as best as I can.
How long have you known that you were going to be coming to development camp? Obviously, we just, we all just found out yesterday, but sure you’ve known for a little while.
Um, I knew like, uh, I was for sure going after the draft, but like I think before that a little bit. Yeah, I think I had an idea. But
I mean, obviously you grew up here. You watch your dad play here and you see all the accolades. You watch his jersey go in the stands. You get to put on a jersey. I know it’s just a prospect scrimmage, but I mean, you think they might unretretire 12 for the prospect scrimmage? I’m trying to create your own identity here today.
I mean, it would be great to wear 12, but I’d kind of want to be my own person for a little bit. So, I mean,
yeah.
What’s been the biggest, I guess, uh, obviously, you know, playing where you have, you know, a lot of guys are juniors, NCAA, and you, you know, BCHL and AHL. It is, you know, another level up that these guys are on. What’s the biggest thing that you’re taking away from going against the Musty’s or the Mises or or or you know Dickinson?
Yeah, they’re just uh they’re like another another level like ahead. So, you kind of just like kind of take what they do like dayto-day and like on the ice and kind of like put it into your own system and uh learn from them.
Yeah. How much do you, you know, take what you’re going to learn from these three days and really,
you know, we know your dad is giving you all these advice, but just on ice, it’s just a different feeling guys your age. How much does that help take you in when you go into the game situations? How you can use these in those games?
Yeah, I just got to be a sponge like kind of take everything like and just put it into my own like own arsenal and uh like everything that they give me, I just got to store it in my brain and and like kind of think about it like later when I’m doing the drills or whatever. But yeah, just got to be sponge.
When you were growing up here and you’re on the ice with your dad, were you thinking, “Oh, I want to be like my dad.” Did you ever think that put on a jerseys, get on the ring here, part of an official organization for a little bit here? Uh yeah, I’ve always I mean yeah, I’ve always wanted to play in NHL, play for the Sharks, so it’s always been been a dream for me. So I mean yeah, even if it’s just dev camp prospect scrimmage. Yeah, it’s great.
What’s it say about the organization? Just they they I mean Greer, Chlo, all these guys. I mean your dad’s obviously here now. Jumbo sticks around. Just to have these guys stay within the organization, take care not only of their players, but now their kids, too. What does it say about the organization? Oh, it’s really like it’s really uh ran well like um I think uh they have something that not a lot of other uh not a lot of other uh pro like uh teams teams have. So I think it’s really special and like getting getting to know like from
I know me because I I’ve been around them all the time, but like some other guys like they get to learn from them and like see what they’ve been doing and like kind of get tips from them as well.
No more special treatment for you. Just want everybody else out, right?
Yeah. Yeah.
So, so what was your dad’s advice on how to how to approach this?
Um, just have fun. He just told me to have fun. Like that was it. So, just take it in. Have fun. Like, just be myself. Don’t Don’t be too stressed about anything. So,
And when did you guys get back from Seoia there? Oh, yeah. It was a It was a fun It was a fun little hike. Yeah, it was great. Yeah.
When did you guys get back?
Oh, uh, we got back the day of the draft, I believe. Yeah. Yeah. What were the emotion? I know it’s just dev camp, but what were the emotions of, you know, stepping out on the ice in a shark sweater?
Great. Like there’s nothing like else to explain. Just like a great feeling, you know? Um Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, just great. Yeah. Happy. Yeah.
Do they have you room with anybody or you just at home?
Yeah, I’m uh I’m with Nate MSY.
Okay.
Yeah. Yeah.
They you know, you still got to be one of the guys, right? You can’t just live at home and get family every night. Yeah. W want the full experience.
Sure. Yeah. Yeah.
Um, off the ice, I mean obviously you’re around your dad, you’re around Jumbo and guys like Will and Mac. Have you gotten any guidance from them? Of course. Yeah. Like just I mean like way to eat to nutrition to sleep to everything like just dayto-day stuff. I mean
they’re always like they’re my friends. They’re my buddies. So like take everything for you can’t take everything for granted from them. Yeah. Yeah. Chipotle sponsorship like maybe I I’d love that. Yeah. I think a lot of people would. What’s it like? I mean, you know, like you said, you’re meeting a lot of new guys. Has anyone impressed you with their game or just off the ice? What has that been like? Um, I mean, yeah. I think, uh, McKenna looked pretty good out there. Like, uh, liked his game. And then, I mean, I’ve seen most of the guys like from last year, they’ve all grown. like no one spec like specific but uh

He talks just like Patty lol
He talks smells and probrably plays like a patty lol
Would have liked more questions not about his dad. He has skill, let the kid stand on his own.
wow – like father like son. Love to see Landon working with the sharks…
The questions were weak. Why not ask about his future hockey goals?
Ask him about him, not patty, I get it but come on
Reporters today ask such stupid questions. They should start asking fans what questions they should ask.
