The New York Knicks Are About To Make Some HUGE MOVES!

All right, boys. Welcome back to another video. Nick’s Daily here. Today, we’re going to be discussing two potential options for the Knicks in free agency that they can bring off of their bench. There was a report that came out that the Knicks are still actively trying to upgrade their second unit, even though they got Yabiselli and Clarkson. So, let’s talk about them. The first one is Ben Simmons, who already has been linked to the Knicks, according to Ian Begley of SNY, and Bradley Beiel. A report came out yesterday that the Suns are discussing a potential buyout for Beiel. The Knicks immediately come to my mind because if you look at the second unit, the Knicks have Mitchell Robinson, they’ve got Deuce McBride, Jordan Clarkson, Gabel, and I’ll throw Beakcom Dia in there as well cuz I think he’s going to have a huge sophomore leap. Beal fits in perfectly. You have to realize that he actually is still a really good player. We get lost in his massive contract, but he’s averaging 17 points, 49.7% from the field, and he shot the ball extremely well from three, 38.6%. His free throw shooting was 80.3%. So, we’re talking about a guy who’s extremely efficient, that can put the ball in the hoop, that can pass. Be an underrated playmaker. Four assists. Don’t sleep on that. Just off of the dribble, he’s going to be able to give the Knicks something they didn’t have last season. There was no shot creation off of the bench last year. Sham and Duce, these guys can catch and shoot and they could play within the offense, but they’re not going to go get a bucket. And that’s exactly what Bradley Beal does. But you could even argue that Ben Simmons would be just as valuable to the Knicks as Bradley Beal because he’s 6’10, 240 lbs. He can play any position. He can defend one through five. He averaged five rebounds and six assists a game, 52% from the field. And his efficiency was pretty good. But I mean, obviously, he didn’t make a three ball, but 72.7% from the free throw line means that he’s not a liability. You can’t just hack him like teams in the playoffs did with Mitch. I would love Ben Simmons. I thought personally in the regular season for the Clippers, he played very well. Didn’t see a lot of minutes in the playoffs, which does make sense in the playoffs when teams are solely focused on you and have time to prep. Yeah, I mean Ben Simmons probably isn’t that playable, but in the regular season to just keep the first unit healthy and to help the Knicks defense because Mike Brown, say what you want about his offense, he’s always been Well, Mike Brown’s actually a defensive guy. Mike Brown is known for his defense. It’s just the Kings didn’t have good wing defenders, so that’s why they suck defensively. But a team like the Knicks, OG and Male and Yavis and Mitchell Robinson, yeah, the Knicks are going to be very good defensively. the offense. There’s no question the Knicks are probably going to be the best offensive team in basketball. Cat and Brunson and then of course they’ve got a lot of good shooters around them. Male I know had a down year shooting but him and OG certainly are capable of shooting. You know Josh Hart personally I’m not a fan of Josh Hart in the starting lineup. I just think he’s he just doesn’t space the floor. I think spacing is is what the Knicks need. So I I personally am not huge on Hart, but also like who would you even insert into there? Like Mitch or or Yaba Saley? I mean I don’t know. But um Josh Hart is probably going to start, but we’ll have to wait and see on that. But a guy like Bradley Beal, the Knicks don’t really have like a true two. I mean, Male is a wing. He’s not a two guard. And Jordan Clarkson is a combo guard. Deuce McBride’s a combo guard. Bradley Beal is just a pure two. He could play the one, I guess, but when I think of just a shooting guard, somebody who’s going to put the ball in the basket and you’re going to run plays and sets for. I mean, it’s Bradley Beal. So, yeah, I 100% would want Bradley Beal if he gets bought out. be interesting to see if the Knicks are interested in Beal if he gets bought out. I’d find it hard to believe that they aren’t considering the fact of just how incredible he is as a scorer. But Ben Simmons to me is a name to keep an eye on. I mean, yeah, like absolutely, you know, the wing position with the is looking good and I feel like you can never have enough defensive-minded wings. I just Oh my god.
Yeah. I just feel like you can never have too many wings. That’s the most important thing in basketball. You look at a team like the Thunder, they had a plethora of them. You go to last season when who won last year’s championship. Why does that feel so long ago, dude? Oh, the Celtics. Uh yeah, the Celtics. That’s why I don’t remember because it was literally the team I hate the most in the Boston Celtics. Yeah, the Celtics had a lot of depth. So, bringing in Ben Simmons, I mean, I don’t think he’s going to play every single night. I think he would only be used in specific matchups. Like maybe if the Knicks are going uh going up I would say Jason Tatum but if the Knicks were going up against a really good like Giannis if the Knicks are facing the Bucks yeah Ben Simmons is going to get that assignment he’s going to get that task and I think he would do a hell of a job of it and you have to realize again I know I said this earlier but scoring is the least of the Knicks concern right now it’s defense they need to improve the defense and if you think of one of the better defenders in basketball somebody who could switch everything that’s very versatile it is Ben Simmons. This would be a huge huge pickup. I don’t think a lot of Knicks fans understand how good Ben Simmons truly is. He’s not a guy who’s going to start. He’s not a guy that plays 30 35 minutes every single night. He’s sort of like a niche type of player, but that niche would be huge for the Knicks because off of the bench, Yaba, Mitch, and Ben Simmons defending, I mean, if you are up 10 and you’re the Knicks and you just don’t want to give up a bucket, you could and Deuce McBride also Deuce McBride and and even to expand upon that, Jordan Clarkson is a bad defender. So to have a bunch of good ones around him would actually maximize his ability and Jaylen Brunson and counter a good defender. So defense should be the priority for the Knicks and I was excited when they were linked to him and Bradley Beal if we do get a report on that of the Knicks being linked to him. Then I’ll probably make a whole separate video on that because I got to dig a little bit into Beiel. But I did watch a lot of Suns games because I bet on Beal, Kevin Durant, and Deon Booker more than I’d like to admit. So I got to to get to know his game pretty well and I think Beal is just a very good teammate. the fact he came off the bench and he took a sacrifice. I mean, he probably should have been out there with KD and Booker, but he said, “Hey, man, I’ll take one for the team. I’ll be the odd one out.” And I thought Bill honestly played better off of the bench than he did in the starting lineup just cuz he was a little bit more free. So, to be in the Knicks second unit, to just have a guy who’s averaged 30 a game, to have a guy who’s efficient, to have a guy who knows how to put the ball in the basket, who has a handle, who can facilitate as well. I mean, Bradley Beal can play the point if the Knicks really wanted him to. He wouldn’t obviously he would be a pure two guard. But yeah, I did see I think it was Let’s Talk Knicks on Twitter posted about how the Knicks need like a true two. It might have been someone else. I’m not Don’t like exactly quote me on that. I think it was Let’s Talk Knicks, but he said that the Knicks need like a pure two. And I don’t think Jordan Clarkson’s a pure two if I’m being completely honest. I think he’s just like a two/1. But I think Bradley Beal, man. I mean, yeah, like he did play some one with the Suns, but it’s Bradley Beal, bro. Like when he was with John Wall, this dude had one job and that was to score 30 every single night and to be efficient and to get buckets. So yeah, the Knicks would definitely benefit off of this. There’s no question about it. I’m excited just thinking about it and it’s good to see the Knicks are still actively trying to improve their bench because that’s going to be absolutely massive for the Knicks is just to have a second unit they could depend on, especially because last season they were last in bench scoring. They didn’t really play their team a lot, like their second unit. And you just look at the best teams, they always have depth. They have a ton of like the Thunder seem like sort of like an anomaly because I don’t know if we’ve seen a team like the Thunder who they can go like 13 deep into their bench and it’s pretty crazy. But not saying the Knicks need to be able to do that, but can you have five guys off of the bench that you can rely on and then maybe even six? Like Ben Simmons would probably be the sixth guy to where he could step in and and play a role. So yeah, let me know your guys thoughts overall on the Knicks potentially adding in Ben Simmons and Bradley Beal. Very interested to read the comments on this one.
