Embiid looks slim af in this. Seems like he could move better at this weight. But then again I don’t know when this was filmed and could’ve been before the multiple knee injuries
I don’t know how to explain it but watching this (two stars going back and forth) makes me nostalgic of the pre-2020 NBA. It feels like a different game now
I always think of Embiid telling KD he can morph into Kobe to Hakeem to Shaq and KD agreeing
I’m all for criticizing his dirty play at times and flopping but Joel is insanely skilled his offensive prowess is incredible. A center moving and playing like that is wild
Shoutout to Tatum too he was hooping here as well
It’s kind of wild how much more athletic Embiid used to be
Embiid could move when he was lean and had two good legs.
I wish Embiid had the health that Olajuwon or Kareem had. It sucks that he’s been so limited his whole career due to his injuries. Could have been one of the best all time..
Probably the best handle for someone over 280 lbs in league history
These are some crazy buckets
I can’t believe I forgot how ridiculous he was. Injuries suck man.
I hate shirtless 1v1. Nobody wants to touch yo slippery ass.
Embiid’s bag isn’t talked about enough
He got moves fr. Hit Tatum with all types of shit lmaoo
Back when I thought the Sixers were gonna be the primary rivalry to the Celtics in the East for the next decade
Wow look how slim embiid used to look.
Im.assuming he is 270 in here? Now he is probably 300 right?
It’s a wild stat that Embiid averaged 10% more PPG per 36 than Jordan. 18% more than LeBron. 16% more than Curry. 20% more than Harden. Etc etc.
As much as this thread rips on him. He’s an all timer and can hold his own against anyone.
Embiids ability to recover defensively on some of these moves is insane
This is the reason why I will always give Embiid his flowers. He is so unbelievably talented, he just can’t stay healthy…this man has a deeper game than most of the wings in the NBA
surprised how Tatum looks almost the same height here.
If Embiid stayed this skinny and athletic he could’ve been up there in top 5 players of all time territory
Crazy how large he got over the last few years, i remember his break out year he was still this athletic and i thought he would just dominate the league for the next 10 years
I just wanna see one more Embid run
I can’t watch this 😢
Can’t believe how explosive Embiid used to be, i’d forgotten
I think that out of every player that had injuries plague them and stop them from reaching their potential, Embiid had the greatest potential of them all and this is coming from a die hard Knick fan that hates Philly and Embiid.
That baseline move to go up 4-3 was just so clean. Such a nice move.
The lighting in this is incredible like a dark short film
I miss Embiid man, one of my favorite big men.
The NBA was robbed of him at his peak.
He is not well perceived outside of sixers fans, and he will never reach his peak levels again. But, I do hope that as time passes people realize how great he was while he was healthy.
The stretch of games he played after his MVP season in ’23-’24 before the meniscus tear was one of the most dominant stretches of basketball in the history of the NBA. The guy was dropping 36 a game and we were out pacing or on pace with the Celtics in the standings in games he played to that point. He was sitting every other 4th quarter because he would put the game away in under 30 minutes played.
Buzzcut Tatum was a monster in 2020
This shit is actually depressing, yes, sixer fan reporting in.
It’s insane how good these guys are
Healthy Prime Joel Embiid … one of the most unguardable players in league history.
Ah so r/NBA is moving on from hating embiid to lamenting how he wasn’t injured
In 23-24 Embiid was on pace to have the best scoring season on a per possession basis EVER 😭
Damn yall.. is it fr that Embiid’s career is cooked?
Young Embiid was insane, he was already drawing comparisons to Hakeem before the draft in scouting reports after playing at Kansas, injuries really took his career to the wood shed which is a shame
