Arbitration for Dostal

  1. It might go to an arbitration hearing knowing Pat “Mr. Krabs” Verbeek (please someone photoshop Verbeek face on Mr. Krabs)

  2. Would be absolutely horrible to overpay a bunch of old vets who aren’t a part of the main core and be stingy as fuck to our young goalie especially after trading Gibson for scraps, holy shit

  3. Commit to your starter by trading your other goalie. low ball said starter and go to arbitration with your starter. Interesting strategy.

  4. Dostal can’t sign an offer sheet now because he elected arbitration, so that shuts down half of that dumb rumor (no one was going to offer sheet a goalie anyway) by Jeff Marek. McTavish was always the only potential offer sheet candidate anyway because he doesn’t have arbitration rights.

  5. Trading Gibson preemptively before signing Dostal is crazy work. Dostal’s agent knows the ball is on his side of the court.

  6. 13 of 14 arbitration filings last season were settled before they went to hearing, including UPL getting 5 seasons from Buffalo. Every year people panic about arbitration and every year it’s typically a nothing burger. It says absolutely nothing about the state of negotiations and you actually *want* this to happen because it prevents offer sheets. Maybe it signals the team and player are far apart, but it’s often just paperwork. Keep calm and carry on, folks.

  7. Gotta pinch every penny since the Ducks don’t have any. A goalie is not important right? Ask Edmonton.

  8. Verbeek did say that he expected Dostal to file for arbitration, but he believes they’ll get deal done before it ever gets to an actual hearing.

  9. Overreacting again lol. Dostal can’t be offer sheeted now. He knows/management knows he’s our guy. This will be worked out in short time.

  10. Pretty sure PV said he (dostal) was going to arbitration in one of his interviews this offseason. This was expected by everyone

  11. Why is everyone freaking out? Verbeek said on the 1st that Dostal was going to file, to protect his rights as a player, and that they should get a deal done before arbitration happens.

  12. Dostal’s agent: so Pattyboi, do the Ducks still need to hit the cap floor?
