Not entirely surprising given it’s his right under the CBA. Probably the best way for him to get what he’s worth with the unlikelihood of another team giving an offer sheet. A good sign he’ll be tandem with Knight again this year.

They can still negotiate in the meantime, right?
If he asks for anything more than 2 mil we should let him walk. Stick with Brossoit or sign someone like Samsanov or Georgiev and hope they rebound.
Given what Knight makes, Sobderblom is likely worth whatever he gets. Young goalie coming odd a good year, he’s gotta be a decently hot commodity. Wouldn’t surprise me if his actual goal is to get out of Chicago, being stuck behind another young goalie on the depth chart.
Fuck em let him walk
More than likely he is a trade piece. If it plans out Knight gets 60 games and Broissert is there for the back up role with Drew C in the wings.
There is demand for Goalies and Soderbloom is a more valuable trade piece than Broissert, so having a decent contract is key.
I wonder if this is why the Hawks didnt buy out Brossoit. Keep him around in case Arvid goes to arbitration, and if the judgment is more than the Hawks are willing to give, and the team walks away. This way they have a backup plan for backup.
