Orioles vs. Braves Game Recap (7/5/25) | MLB Highlights | Baltimore Orioles

It is Aaron Bummer on the mound. Little bit of a surprise because the Braves going with a bullpin game, but thankfully CJ Strider went six yesterday. So, the bullpin all in all in pretty good shape.
And Aaron Bummer going to be the guy who gets this opportunity. First time in his career at the big league level in which he’s going to get that chance to make a start.
And a good start for Aaron Bummer. He strikes out Jackson Holiday. And now Jordan Westber who had missed five games with a finger injury. And Jordan gets a sweeper
that got him in the foot. So Westburn takes a little O2 knock. More of a nick than a knock. And he is the game’s first base runner. And the Orioles have a base runner for Gunnar Henderson.
Got him. There’s that curveball while he was talking about the usage of that pitch versus the sweeper. And he gets Henderson on it.
Otto to Lauraniano. Fandm used a sweeper and Lauriano couldn’t find it on that swing. Had a good start for Bummer. Hit a batter, but outside of that, three strikeouts and D Kramer faces the Braves here at Truis Park for a second time. And the Atlanta Braves led to the plate by Ronald Akuna Jr. will be a fourtime allstar starter and a high fast punched into right by Aunia on an awfully sunny day. Tyler O’Neal will take control.
And one away here in the bottom of a scoreless first inning, sending Matt Olsen up to the plate.
Right center here for Matt Olsen. That’s going to plug the gap. And an easy peasy double here in the first inning for the Braves first baseman.
Runner at second. One down for Austin Riley. Never fun to face.
To center field off the bat of Austin Riley. Track wall. Gone. Two to nothing Atlanta. He set one flying across the yard. It’s a two-run homer to straightaway center. And it’s two nothing Braves in the first. That is his 13th homer of the year. And the Braves have the early lead. So check that box. Aaron Bummer will be facing O’Harn Sanchez and Cowser in the second inning. One, two, and he gets him to fish low for that curveball and missed every stitch of it. Strike out number four for Bummer. 3-2 pitch and he struck him out.
Dang. Curve ball from Bummer. He’s striking on everybody. That’s five. Bummer has tied his careerhigh with five strikeouts. All five of the outs he’s recorded. 01 on the air to deep left. Proofar going to go back to the warning track. Curls off his route. Makes the catch. Nice play. By the time his momentum came to a halt, he was right in front of the fence. Well, last series the Braves honored Travis Darno with a nice tribute video. They just did the same for Charlie Morton in between the innings. got to don his cap. Warm round of applause and CJ well welld deserved. It’s been two dominant frames for Bummer. Exactly what the Braves were hoping for. He struck out five and gotten six outs. O’Neal playing his first game yesterday. Just five for his last 54. And he has not homered since the 13th of April. O’Neal cracks this deep left field. Way back that goes. And that baby is long gone. Well, there goes your home run drought. Tyler O’Neal to left center field. A no doubter. 445 majestic feet. His first home run since April the 13th and a ball hit deep enough to count for two. That was the first earn run that Aaron Bummer has allowed at home since April 9th. Mullins gets to third base with just one out. And now Westber will bat.
Chance to do some damage here and tie this ball game up with a base hit.
Westber drives the ball to deep center field. Harris shooting back. That is long gone. Oh my. Splashdown from Jordan Westber. An absolute meteor to the second level of the batter’s eye. And Tyler O’Neal’s home run looks like an infield dribbler now. 461. I tell you what, the heck with a base hit. Jordan Westber says, “I want I want to just tie this game up. I want to take the lead.” And he does.
Matt Olsson leads off. He’s one for one with a double and a run scored.
Deep to right field. Goodbye ball. Hello, Chop House. Mario has tied it in the third.
That exploded off his bat. And both of these teams played a home run derby today. They both belted two homers. And the ball’s flying out on this Saturday afternoon at truest park.
The lead off double for Baltimore.
So that’s one out. And now Cowzero back.
Cowser. A highf fly ball deep right center. Another one. Oh my word. None of these are cheapies. These have been three absolute tanks from O’Neal, Westber, and now Colton Cowser. His first left on left long ball of the year, and the birds are back on top. First and second with two outs as Matt Olsen will come to the plate.
This year against the AL 20 games, he’s hitting .356 with an OPS of over,00. Matt Olsen, line drive, base hit. Nick Allen comes home. Matt Olsen stays hot and gets Atlanta back within a penny here in the fourth.
That base hit by Olsen drives in the first Braves run without a home run in a week.
And he’s a triple short of a cycle here again and we’re only in the fourth inning.
Austin Riley with a two-run homer back in the first inning. Also a strikeout. Can tie the game with a base hit
down the left field line. That’s trouble. Akuna’s coming home. So is Matt Olsen. Play at the plate and they got it. Akuna does score though to tie it at five apiece.
Matt slowly gets up, dust himself off, but the Braves have tied the game on the double by Riley. And they score twice in the inning.
Matt Olsen was walking with a little discomfort, but he popped out of the dugout no problem. Back over there at first base. Yeah, watch that right foot ankle right there. And then the knee hits the ground really hard. Kind of see that jolt go through his thigh as well. So hopefully he is staying in the game. Jacob Stallings was enjoying it from the dugout. Now he’s called into duty. He replaces Sanchez.
A little shaken up on that play at home plate. So obviously something significant enough to come out of this game.
Runner at first and one out. And Marcelo Zuna the batter.
That is scalded out to center field. Mullins coming in. Goes into a dive and he makes the catch. Baldwin has to get back to first base. Mullins started moving in and at the very last instance decided he needed to dive.
Braves have him at first and second. Nobody out for Olsen.
Can he get a triple to complete the cycle? Well, there won’t be a cycle here. There will be a walk. Base is loaded.
One out for ProAr. How about a little run manufacturing here. Bouncer slowly to short. Henderson’s only play to first. They do get Proar, but the Braves have the lead. Whatever it takes, this will work certainly. Three and one. The pitch. A chopper to the right side. Holiday has it. He will walk towards first base. Underhanded to a Hearn. And that’s that for the Braves in the bottom of the six. And the Orioles avoid disaster. And Cedric is in scoring position as a tying run here in the top of the seventh inning. And now Jackson Holiday.
Orioles two for five today. Runners in scoring position looking to make it three for six and tie this thing up. And they will off the glove of Alb’s. Holiday shoots it into right field and Mullins charges home. Backto back left on left knocks. Mullins in the nine spot. Holiday at the top and we’re all new yet again at 66. Matt Olsen has had a huge game. Double, homer, RBI, single, and then a walk. And Matt Olsen has reached all five times tonight. Now Riley who has driven in three of Atlanta’s six
oh and to the count the next pitch a swing and a miss and a change he struck him out dropped by Stallings applies the tag Brian Baker K’s three in the eighth inning
Rice Celliglacius is in this ball game now on the hill for Atlanta
and with two outs in the top of the ninth and the go-ahehead run on base it’s going to bring up Jordan Westber who’s made his presence felt in the first two games of the series
and a fly ball to right field shallow right Azie calling everyone off and Obies has it for out number three. One run will win it for the Braves.
66 bottom of the ninth and the Orio closer will try to get us to the 10th and there are two away. Two walk-off hits this year for Marcel including one of those home runs that he hit against the Philadelphia Phillies back on April 10th.
One two swing and a miss. Got him on the split. So Ozuna strikes out. Baltista. It’s his latest one, two, three inning. And today we have got free baseball here at Truis Park.
Sets out number one, but West moves on to third base. And Raone Lauraniano will bat right on right. Well, Lauriano has been really clutch. It’s lined past third into left field. He got the splitter and he split it into pieces. Orioles take the lead on a two strike 10th inning double from Laurato. So first and second and Jacob Stallings who entered this game due to an injury to Gary Sanchez who left a knee pain. Stallings will bat looking for his first Orioles hit.
Stallings cracks it left side. Jacob Stallings to the left field wall. Lauraniano is in. Oh getting a ferocious wave home and he is save. A jolt from Jacob. The first oral hit for Jacob Stallings. their fifth catcher of the season with a two-run double in the 10th and it’s nine to six.
Luke Williams the last Atlanta hope 96 two outs bottom 10. There’s a ground ball chopped to second. A charging Jackson Holiday ends the game. The Orioles come back from a couple of deficits. Bang three home runs early. get a big two-run double from Jacob Stallings and they win it in 1096 and that is a series win in Georgia. [Music]

  1. Ugh why do these players wear white cleats with the grey pants (or grey uniforms) its hideous looking the As used to be the only team that did that crap and it was ugly af them too 😂 . Everyone is doing it now smh i mean if you wanna wear it with the white pants or all white then fone but not with the grey ! Black and orange 🍊! Lol

  2. Talk about living on the edge. Maybe they will be sellers after the break, but when they get pitchers they also need to obtain strength and conditioning expertise to keep them healthy or what's the point…..

  3. It's been a depressing year as injuries have killed us. This team still has the talent to compete. They just need consistency and continuity. Im sure there will be a trade or two, which makes sense. In my opinion, though, this team has talent. They just need to lock in and do it now. No more taking crap. Go take what's yours. The time is now. Kind of like the free agency period last off season 😂 when Elias left them dry. Elias believed in the team like I do. Go get em boys and prove we were all right. Tho, one top starter would have been nice.

  4. If a routine play took Sanchez out of the game like that he's gotta go on the IL and get his body right. There is no reason a routine play at the plate should pull you out of a game as a professional baseball player.

  5. Yesterday I firmly guaranteed that my O's would lose the following 2 games of this series after winning the first game. I stand corrected. Good job. Now let's see if you can win the vast majority of all of your series for this month.
