Bronny James knows the role that will earn him minutes: “I can’t lose that defensive drive that will get me on the floor, because there are going to be guys who can score 15, 20 a game. I’m most likely not going to be that guy right now. To get myself on the floor, I’ve got to be a defensive menace”

The Michael Jordan of being LeBron’s son
How is his hustle on court ?
I’m really glad that he’s already realized all of this at this early stage. There are tons of guys in the G League that never understand this for their whole career.
I love his mindset.
This guy is so humble. He was scoring 20 last year
This kid will do just fine
**Relevant Alex Caruso quote from 2020**
According to Caruso, most G-League players can’t adapt to playing more off-ball. They also lack the requisite know-how and attitude to play defense with the energy and awareness required in the league:
**“A big reason guys get stuck in the G-League is because they don’t realize the position they’re trying out for. It’s like going to a job interview thinking you’re going to be the CFO of the company and they’re looking for someone to clean the bathrooms.”**
I don’t KNOW this kid, like on a personal level.
But between his press conferences, podcast visits, and livestreams, it is absolutely amazing to me that despite who his dad is, despite the fact that he was born into billionaire wealth, all that privilege and warped sense or normality, that he seems to have grown into a very humble, respectful young man with a good head on his shoulders.
I wonder how much of that comes from experiencing a heart failure, or maybe having to face that he loves basketball but will never even be in the same galaxy of his father, let alone his shadow.
Meme him all you want, but he seems like a genuinely good kid. I know kids whose parents were significantly less wealthy and famous than his dad is who are some of the most entitled, self important, egotistical little shits you’ve ever seen
He did say he hopes to impact winning like Derrick White, Jrue Holiday and Davion Mitchell. He has been preparing to be a role player from the very first day.
James? Any relation to NBA star LeBron James from Akron, Ohio?
However much hate Bronny gets I think this kid gets it.
Yes his last name may have got him in the door but he clearly has the right mindset, the work ethic and the physical goods to make it in this league even if he maxes out as a bench/rotation guy.
Keep it up Bronny!
Fairs. That’s a good mindset on a young player. Hope it works out for him.
Gonna keep saying this, bronny’s game isn’t even that bad and he’s nowhere near the worst player of his draft class, he’s got a solid fundamental base that is far and beyond what guys like Cody Williams are currently working with.
I’m not sure if he will ever be an NBA calibre player but guys acting like he’s the worst player ever need to get a reality check he belongs in the league about as much as any 57th overall pick does.
He’ll be a great NBA player for years to come!
he sounds just like JJ Redick here
That’s a fair assessment.
Good kid, hope he reaches to his goals
I love Bronny. I have a feeling he’ll have a legitimately useful contribution this season, he’s got such a good mindset.
I’d like to think his father is realistic with him, and he has some humility to realize he isn’t going to be his father. I’d love to see the guy make his own way in the league and have a solid career.
Just a good teammate mindset to have. As well as an individual competitor. Even if he can get 5 minutes a game, he knows he has to execute those minutes.
Hell yeah my Man Understands the game.
I hope bronny turns into a lockdown defender. He’s a great kid man.
That “uuuuuuuum” when answering the question sounds familiar.
Bronny gets it. Keep at it brother
Big fan of Bronny as a person
A team wins championships by having all roles filled. Not everyone can be a ball handling scorer. You need the glue guys, the 3 point threats, the defensive stalwarts, the energy guys off the bench and even the bench warmers that hype up the team.
As a suns fan its painful to watch how my team had all those necessary roles filled in 2020-21 and completely blew it up.
One thing I never have to worry about with Bronny is him saying the wrong thing or being unaware of what he needs to do. Kid is smart and has a good head on his shoulders.
I just worry if he has the requisite talent to make it in the league and do the role he has to do, but I hope he can do it.
He will be out of the league a couple months after his father
Bron raised his kids right.
he knows he ain’t getting the minutes that he wanted, but still is mature enough to work hard. hopefully, he will someday
I actually think Bronny is going to be fine only because he is already in the right headspace compared to others his age. If he becomes a defensive menace and knocks down threes, most of the teams will want him.
I love the level of self awareness from Bronny, sincerely hope it works out for him!
Bronny understands what the team needs and that’s a good thing. People are bashing him cause of his name and connections, but I think the kid just needs a second look from those people. His mentality will help him last in the league, I hope he finds his way to make a name of his own.
Parts of media made it seem like Bronny was some Nepo-brat. Then, I posted to interviews like this and it really shows a very mature and self aware kid who really doesn’t want to live in the shadow of his dad and try to make something for himself. He doesn’t mind being the role player like a Caruso or Dort. He’s obviously got a long way to go to get there and has a lot of improving to make, but he makes me cheer for him more and more, especially after the heart issue he had
This guy is shit. What a joke
Are you paying attention Kuminga? This less talented player is gonna have a better career than you because he’s got the right attitude for his situation. He’s surrounded by future HOFers and he’s not trying to outshine them he’s trying to be an asset for them.
We need more young men aspiring to be Patrick Beverly like this.
It makes me genuinely happy to see how people are slowly changing the way they talk about Bronny James.
**For a long time, it felt like he was being judged before he even had a chance to show who he really is. But now, you can feel the shift.**
He’s finding his own rhythm, his own voice, and I truly admire that.
*You can tell he has a clear vision of the kind of player he wants to become.*
He knows that his gifts and talents are not meant to copy anyone else, not even his father, but to shine in their own way.
Watching him grow, stay true to himself, and keep working to get better is something special.
I hope he keeps going, keeps rising, and becomes the star he was always meant to be, in his own unique way.
This kid has all the right tools and mindset. I have no doubt he will succeed. I hate the lakers but am rooting for Bronny !
Board man gets paid
Bronny is undersized so his defence better be absolute amazing while shooting 40+% from 3.
