I’d love to not have controversy about people not wanting to join my team in the off-season
If there are really some active teams in on Byram and the offers are close, then it makes sense to punt.
Related, I know if we match an offer sheet he can’t be traded for a year, but what happens if it goes to arbitration? Can he be traded immediately after with a potentially reasonable contract?
Can something old-school happen… like no one makes a move and he sits half/whole season? This would hurt Byram more than the Sabres, no? Sabres can’t get hurt more than they really are…
Thinking from that perspective because really hate current rfa players getting what they want and upper hand on this team (even though mostly warranted from mismanagement).
It’s crazy that this trade likely causes the outcome of this season. If we don’t get NHL caliber players in this deal we are 100% looking at 15 years straight.
No one can tell me this team got any better so far this offseason to produce 20+ more points to fight for a playoff spot.
