Baltimore Ravens Defense Just Got BAD NEWS | There Is Pressure On This Unit In 2025

[Music] Welcome into the Ravens rundown everybody. My name is Joey Peterson. So happy to be joining you guys today. We’re going to talk about some bad news that could be headed the way of the Baltimore Ravens. I’ll give you a little hint. It has to do with defensive coordinator Zack Ore who’s going into his second season as a defensive coordinator and has a lot of hype surrounding him. I’ll break down what that bad news is in just a little bit. Before that, I got a question for you guys. Who runs the AFC North? It’s a simple question. Should require a simple answer. That answer should be the Baltimore Ravens. Well, I need that to be proved today because Steelers Talk got 450 likes on their video they just put out. This video, can we get to 500? Can we pass them? Can we prove to every single day that they’re the little brother in the AFC North and we truly run this thing? Y’all help me out by hitting that thumbs up button. I got to be honest, okay, Zachor, I truly believed was the Baltimore Ravens most improved, and I know he’s not a player, but I think he was the most improved Raven in the entirety of the 2024 season. what he was able to do from this squad who started off horribly in the first 10 weeks of the season. Him getting them to turn things completely around was I mean it was like a magician. 25.3 points per game down to 16.3 in the last eight weeks of the season. team yards per game, 367, down a 100red yards per game from the last eight weeks to the first 10 weeks. Everything just turned 100% on its heels. And a lot of that was because of Zachar, okay? And I’ll be the first to say it. You can look back at pretty much any video that I put out on the channel for the entirety of the first 10 weeks of the season. Fire Zachora came out of my mouth a lot. But I’m a grown-up. I can own up to my mistakes. I know when I was wrong and I was wrong about Zachor. A lot of that was because of him. But also, I think we need to agree and we need to look at the fact a lot of that was because of the presence of our Darius Washington. Once our Darius Washington came into this lineup and was a starting every down rotational player, this defense took a massive, massive shift. when they stopped messing with Eddie Jackson, when they stopped messing with Marcus Williams, when they looked at number 29 and said, “You know what? You’re the guy that gives this defense the best spark right there next to Kyle Hamilton,” a lot of things changed. I think that Zack Ore deserves a little more credit for how he was able to adjust along the course of his first year in the NFL. I don’t think people are talking about at that enough. Okay. I think a lot of times you come into the NFL as a rookie, as a player, and people say, you know what, it’s going to take them four, five, six weeks to adjust, right? These growing pains, they’re there for these players, but they don’t say that necessarily about coordinators. And I think it’s almost the exact same thing. Now, it’s different from going to college to the NFL and the fact that you’re not taking a jump up in competition, but your responsibilities get a whole lot larger. Zachor has had a interesting last decade or so. He was an undrafted free agent out of the University of North Texas. Shout out to my uncle Chuck Peterson who actually coached him at when they when he played there. He played for the Ravens from 2014 to 2016. led the team in tackles in 2016, but then after that season had to retire at the age of 24 after they found an issue with his vertebrae and then was promoted from defensive or to defensive coordinator from inside linebackers coach in the offseason in 2024. So, those are all great things, right? And we spent the first four minutes of this video talking about how great Zach or is. The unfortunate matter is sometimes when you’re really really good at your job and fans really start to love you, another team pulls you away because some think he might be in line for another promotion. And when you’re a defensive coordinator for a football team, there’s only one way to go up. So coming up, I got to talk about what Bleach Report had to say about OR’s job status after the upcoming 2025 season. Don’t go anywhere. You are not going to want to miss that. I can promise you that because they said some really interesting things and unfortunately they believe that Zach Gore might be out of Baltimore in a year’s time. I want to know how you guys feel though. Okay. If you think that he is the man for the job, do me a favor and cast your vote by liking today’s video. I would not have liked it if I watched this video in October of last year. But of course, he turned things around and I think we all have a ton of confidence in Zachor. So, Bleacher Report put out an article and they named eight coordinators who could be head coaches after the 2025 NFL season. There’s a lot of names you probably recognize from this last cycle of coaching searches, but there’s a new name, one Zach or that I think might have shocked some people. Of course, you got Joe Brady, you got Brian Flores, you got Vance Joseph, Cliff Kingsbury. A lot of these guys have been head coaches before. And then, of course, you got the two coordinators out there in Kansas City with Matt Naggie and Steve Spagnolo. But then you see right there, Zachor, the 33year-old defensive coordinator who just ended his first year as a coordinator. He makes that list as well. Bleach Report thinks that if he has a really good year, people could see him as a future leader of franchises. Bleach Report said that or had his fingerprints all over the Ravens aggressive defense. He owes the team culture inside and out and may need to adjust elsewhere, but the 33-year-old defensive coordinator could get serious looks for head coaching jobs next year or has a stacked unit that will include newcomers J Alexander, two-time Pro Bowler, rookie firstround safety Malachi Starks, and rookie second round edge rusher Mike Green. The Ravens could field the stingiest defense in 2025. If that’s the case, Ore will be a hot candidate. I got three thoughts to talk about with that quote with that article. Thought number one, I really do love that Ore is getting the credit that he deserves. Okay? I love that people are seeing uh kind of what his future could look like. They’re seeing the ceiling for Zach or as a leader of men, as a head coach in the National Football League because everything that he did last year, all the growth that he made in a 18week season, it was absolutely wonderful. And I think people are seeing that the trajectory could only be going up. Okay, that’s my first thought. My second thought is a little bit more on the negative side of things. Okay, Baltimore’s defense as of right now and even last year before the season, but definitely right now after all they’ve added is thought of incredibly highly and with that comes a ton of pressure. You know what they say about pressure can make diamonds, but it could also bust pipes. Not only were they a good unit at the end of last year, but they added a ton of incredible talent, right? They drafted Malachi Starks with the 27th overall pick. And Zachor was so happy about this draft pick that after it was made, after he got off the phone with Malachi Starks himself, he went around the war room, started dapping up every single person in there and he said, “You know what? They messed up.” Now, this was the guy that Zach Or wanted all along and he fell to him at 27 and he got him. He asked Kyle Hamilton to play with right now. You added Malachi Starks and he didn’t think it was going to happen. It was more from the coordinator on his new chess piece. You see it on film, but then getting really close, you can really see the movement skills and the ball skills. He made a catch where he pedled, got deep, broke on the ball beautifully. Made an acrobatic catch. They had some tape and rope and he saved himself. Jumped over it all in one motion. Everybody in attendance was just wow. After that workout, I honestly personally was saying there is no way he’s going to get to 27. All the coaches were raving about him. It was one of the best workouts I’ve seen. So, you have a defensive coordinator who’s, like I said, on an upwards trajectory. Now he gets a great piece in Malachi Starks which only should mean great things. But it didn’t end there. Not in the first round. No, no, no. Cuz then they drafted Mike Green with the 59th overall pick. And many people believe he was the best rusher in the entire draft. And guess what? I many people I said it for the entirety of that draft process. He was one of my dream selections. So the draft came and went. Guess what? They dipped their toes in free agency as well. They added in Jier Alexander after he was released from the Green Bay Packers. So they added in the secondary and corner. They added in the secondary and a safety. They added an edge rusher as well. Three really, really important positions on the defensive side of the ball. Three really, really impressive talents. Two of them very young that could be expected to go on and lead this defense for years to come. Okay, this was a unit that improved along the year, already had great pieces, and then in the offseason, they just went ahead and added three studs. So, because of that, and now because Zack Ore is getting this look on like he could be a head coach in the future, the pressure is going to be really, really big. Really, really big. So, I’d say you guys, where will this defense rank at the end of the 2025 season? You let me know in the comments section down below. I think it’s going to be a top 10 unit personally, but I’m interested to hear what you guys have to say. Coming up, I got my prediction on his future. Don’t go anywhere. I’m going to tell you what I think is going to happen with Zack Gore over this next year. But before that, if you guys want to go to chatsports.com/lamar jersey, you can find your own Lamar Jackson jersey right there with our friends at Fanatics. If you’re looking for a reason to convince your parents to get you this gift, just say, you know what, it’s going to be an investment. He’s going to be here for a while. I’m going to be able to wear this jersey for years and years. You can get it in purple. You can get it in black. Just make sure that you get it. Lamarjack or excuse me, chatsports.com/lamar jersey. It helps us out right here at Ravens Oneown and we really, really appreciate it. My third thought on the matter is I don’t think he’ll go anywhere after 2025. I just kind of have this feeling like it’s not his time yet. His time might be coming, right? It might be coming pretty soon, but I just don’t think it’s now. I don’t think he’s been in the NFL long enough. I don’t think he’s been coaching long enough. He was a defensive assistant in 2017 to 2020. He had his first position coaching job in 2021. Last year was his first year as an actual coordinator. You don’t hire a guy to be head coach who didn’t get his first positional coaching job in like the for the first time in 2021. You don’t hire a guy usually to be a head coach if he’s only had two years of experience as a defensive coordinator. He’s also only 33 years old. And if you look at last year’s cycle, 39. Pete Carroll, a little bit of an outlier, 73. Mike Vrabel, he’s almost 50. Aaron Glenn 52. Liam Cohen almost 40. Brian Shottenheimimer 51. Kell Moore 36. But he’s been an offensive coordinator since like 2018. The average, if you take out the outlier that is Pete Carol, was 44 years old of coaches hired last season. Zachor is still so so young. I see him being a head coach in his future, being a leader of men. I think he’s got those qualities. I think he has that ability. Maybe in 27, right? If he’s great in 2025 and great in 2026 and at that point he’s going to be what, 35 years old, maybe they somebody takes a swing on then. But I think he’s still at the end of the day got a lot to prove. He puts together one good half of a season. He’s got to start putting together full seasons that are really, really impressive and really really something to write home about. And if he does, I believe one day he’ll be a head coach. Take a guess for me. When do you think it happens? If it does happen, let me know in the comments section down below. Guess the year. And if you’re feeling really spicy, go ahead and guess the team as well. Appreciate you guys for tuning in. Make sure if you are a Baltimore Ravens fan that you are subscribed to the channel. 1. If Baltimore have a great season Orr won't be going anywhere or taking a HC opportunity because this is only his 2nd season as a coordinator, he'll want more experience on how things are handled

  2. John Harbaugh will be 63 years old at the start of this season and fresh off of signing a 3 year extension. I really couldn’t imagine him coaching into his 70s.

I hope the team will extend Orr for the remaining two years of Harbaugh’s contract in order to transition him into becoming the next head coach. It’s clear that the defensive players love playing for him, and his energy on the sidelines is contagious.

  3. I gave you a thumbs down here’s why. Suspense is great when you have good news. With bad news suspense is annoying. I’m like will you get to the bad news already! Worse is elaborating on your wants when you have bad news.

Picture this, a cop comes to your door and says. I terribly sorry but I have awful new for you. But first I want to talk to you about the policeman’s ball. You see I’m in this competition to sell tickets. Kinda get how that would seem inappropriate?

Ultimately, there was no bad news, just possible bad news.
My reason for the thumbs down.

  4. two consecutive thumbs 👎🏿 down wow you're on a roll🎉 the third dumbest thing that you've said was that the Ravens didn't need Marcus Williams they couldn't use the experience of Eddie Jackson All for 5/8 ardarius Washington… Washington is no longer going to be a part of the Ravens… This is a business of racist white people moving chess pieces to fit their script… I got to admit you had me fooled 🖤

  5. No one is thanking the return of Dean Pees Ravens former defensive coach as an advisor to Zach Orr for the improvement in the defensive play. I think Dean Pees’ return was the main reason behind the improvement not Zach Orr.
