“Been Working The Whole Summer.” | Rob Dillingham Summer League Sound | 07.06.25
How’s uh what’s what’s the excitement level to start a summer league?
Uh super excited, honestly. We got all our guys back. We’ve been working the whole summer. So, definitely excited to go back and get to show what we’ve been working on.
What What do you want to accomplish personally?
Um really just getting back comfortable, like getting myself together, getting my confidence back, and just feeling natural out there and comfortable. And that’s really the main thing I’m focused on.
Where’s your confidence at? Uh, it’s there for sure. It’s just like the amount of basketball I used to play to what I’ve been playing now. It’s like you work out a lot and like you don’t get to show it. So, you feel anxious a little bit. A lot. So, it’s like um I’m just anxious honestly. Not that I’m not confident. I’m always confident. It’s just I’m just anxious to play honestly.
What does it feel like now that the rookie year’s done? Does it just feel like there’s an opportunity in front of you to really go after something? I know it’s only summer league, but just looking ahead to the season, does it feel like there’s something you can really go get right now?
Yeah, for sure. Definitely. Um, I mean, I had the same mindset last year and it’s the same mindset this year. You can’t really look at it like that because when you look at it like that, it might not go your way and it’s enough. So, u, I’ve been working hard and I feel like obviously I do des or not deserve, but like I do feel like a chance is coming. So, it’s up to me to make the most of it.
What’s different this summer compared to last summer? Obviously, you’re going into a rookie year, but you’ve learned a lot, I imagine, in the last year. What’s different a year later?
Uh, literally everything. Uh, just being comfortable. Uh, you walking into a facility, you don’t know a lot of people. Then just pop up one day, you got to do everything. So, it’s just like you spinning really when you’re a rookie. And now it’s like it’s just calm down. You know what to expect. You know what to do. And so, it’s way easier the second year for sure.
I mean, coach was just in here talking about it that, you know, making easy passes. defense is still what they’re really hoping to see out of you in summer league. How do you feel like that’s come along over the last year?
Uh it’s came very far for real cuz um like I played with so many great dudes on our team when it comes to Ant. So it’s like the minutes I did get I can’t just go in the game and not do the right things. I got to make the right plays. So it’s kind of starting to get natural because I’m playing with so many guys. So I definitely feel like I came far but I definitely got a lot more to go.
How how important was Mike with that?
Uh very important. like just watching him like even though I wasn’t playing I watch him do everything like how he set up from the beginning of the game how he set players up when he gets his shots and it it meant a lot for sure because just being able to see Mike do that even though like we didn’t get to win it all it’s super tough
I mean Mike last year said a couple times that his role was kind of keeping you sane throughout most of the season is that kind of how that relationship was like more of like brothers and teammates or uh yeah that’s my dog honestly it’s uh I I don’t even know how to explain. That’s just my dog. I hit him up for anything. Uh if I look thinking about something, he’s the most person I can relate to. So I always hit him up and he don’t ever hold it back or you tell me the real like exactly how it’s supposed to be. So I mess with Mike Gabby. That’s my dog. And I mean I saw you out there as fun last year with Pablo. Just how important was Pablo to your development as well? Uh very important because Pablo always coached me up like he speaks positive. Even when I do little things, he shows me how I can get better at it. He doesn’t really like put me in a box. Like Pablo always just help me, tells me positive things, and keeps pushing me. So, working with him means a lot, too, cuz he was a great player. Also,
I mean, it seemed like you put a lot of time into your jump shot as well. How’s that was something Finch kind of mentioned in his exit interview of wanting to see, you know, kind of the release point being the same. How do you feel your jump shot has kind of come along maybe even from the end of the season to today?
Uh, solid, for sure. I feel like uh jump shot is a jump shot. Like obviously you got to do certain things but you got to have confidence to make a shot. If you’re worried about missing a shot, you probably not going to make the shot. So I don’t really think it was more my shot. I feel like it was more just like shooting the ball. So now I feel like I’m getting better for sure and it’s starting to come big more comfortable.
How is it different this year kind of going through the whole summer league process? I mean now you got rookies and players coming from overseas to join the team. Is it more of like a leadership role that you’re taking on kind of with the summer league team at least?
Oh yeah, for sure. Definitely because it’s like we got a bunch of young guys. We got a guys that’s not in our organization who’s getting a chance. So it’s like someone has to lead us to win games in this little short time we get to practice. So that is one of the main goals leading and just winning honestly and showing making everybody on our team play the best they can, putting them in a position to play their game. I mean, kind of a personal question, but just Finch and um Connley both came out and just said, you know, this is your opportunity. I mean, what does it mean to you to have that kind of faith from the powers that be behind you?
Uh it’s a blessing, honestly. U really nothing else to say about it. You can’t really talk about it is for me to show that I deserve the chance they given me. So, uh it’s nothing really to say. It’s just I’m going to have to perform and that’s what y’all going to see. Anybody else? Anyone surprise you out there today?
Rookie. Rookie gold. Joan Jones solid. I’m not going to lie. Super solid for sure. I like him.

Watched this with one hand.
This kid is so young. He’s going to be a good one. When he gets confident no one will be able to keep up with him. Fantastic young core for wolves fans

Dilly is one of my favorite players, I'm happy he's still on the team.
“Rookie cold, Joan’s solid” 😂😂😂 let’s go 🔥🔥
He needs to smoke more of that green so hes hungrier at night and can consume more calories
Just need playing time
Wait, within first 25 seconds he says getting his confidence back.
Last season he said he was always confident. Which is it? It cannot be both things. Sooooo now having heard that i am even more sus on him as a prospect. Should have drafted Walter Clayton Jr. Smh
Also got from this that he did not fix his ever changing jump shot. Gonna be a long inconsistent season me thinks.
