BIG-TIME Miami Dolphins Rumors: Trade For Another Tight End? Dolphins Trade Targets Ft. Mark Andrews

[Music] We’re talking Miami Dolphins trade rumors on today’s show because I believe that the Dolphins should still look to acquire another tight end. And we’re going to look at five tight end trade targets that the Dolphins could actually go after before training camp begins in the next couple of weeks. And I will stand firm on this position. Miami needs to add another tight end. They lose John Smith. They pick up Darren Waller, but the rest of this position group is just not good enough to be a team that has aspirations for at least being competitive in contending in the NFL playoffs. And I’ll also say this, like there is no guarantee Darren Waller gives you anything this season. And there is not even a guarantee that he makes the 53man roster. He didn’t play football last year. He was retired. So whenever you are having a player come out of retirement, I don’t want Dolphins fans to say, “Hey, Chris Beer made a trade for a tight end in Darren Waller who used to be a Pro Bowl caliber guy who had a thousand yards.” Yeah, that came five years ago. So, although I am a little bit excited to see where Darren Waller can take us and what he can show in training camp and in the preeason to make this 53man roster, I want to make it abundantly clear there’s no guarantee he gives you anything this season. So, adding another tight end should absolutely still be on the radar of GM Chris Greer. And before we get into some trade targets, make sure you do share the video. We’re trying to spread the word here at Dolphins today. So, click the share button, select Twitterx, and then click post to TwitterX. If you tag me on Twitter while sharing the video, Nick_rolloff, I’ll give you a shout out on the next show. First three get that shout out. The list that we’re going to look at today, we’re going to rank them one through five. This comes from CBS Sports. They gave five trade targets for Miami and ranked them. And I wanted to talk about each specific player and the likelihood that the Dolphins could actually potentially make a trade for that specific player. We’ll start with Numero Uno. That is a player we have talked about over the past week ever since John Smith got traded. That is Cole KT, the tight end from Chicago. The reason why we’ve talked about KT is because, well, the Bears drafted Coulson Lovelin this year in the first round. And it’s like, well, could they move on from the longtime veteran they’ve had? Well, I don’t claim to have sources often on this show, but when I do, I will make sure that you know it comes from a source, and I do have a source directly tied with the Bears organization that tells me the Dolphins actually reached out for Cole KT. They traded John Smith and then they called Chicago and asked if KT is available on the trade market. And if he was available, this would be an excellent addition. He is not going to be a guy that gives you a thousand yards. That’s not the type of play style he has. But he is a really good tight end in terms of his balanced attack blocking and being a receiving threat. He had a good couple seasons in 22 and 23 with Justin Fields. did not connect that well this past season with Caleb Williams and his rookie year, but it was good enough to get him a bigger contract after a couple good seasons in Chicago. Now, when it comes to Cole Kat, I do want to make it clear that my source also shared with me that the Bears shut it down relatively quickly when Miami called. They said they are not at the moment looking to trade Cole Kamat. And even though they drafted Coulson Loveland, they have an idea to play the two of them together. And remember, Loveland hasn’t even played in the OTAAS or mini camp portion of this off seasonason due to an injury that he suffered at the end of last year playing for Michigan. So they are not looking to trade Cole KT. We’ll see if that could be revisited in the future, but it doesn’t seem like that is going to be a possibility for Miami right now. But before we get into more trade targets for Miami, I want to know if the Dolphins should even trade for a tight end in your opinion. To me, I think they absolutely should. I want them to add another one. The best fragance available, Gerald Ever, and Hayden Hurst. Those aren’t good enough. So, should the Dolphins trade for a tight end? Let me know your thoughts. Tight end number two on this list is going to be Mark Andrews, the veteran 29-year-old from the Baltimore Ravens. And it’s been widely speculated that Andrews is available via trade. I firmly believe those rumors. He had a rough last season with Baltimore, which was encapsulated with the pair of drops he had in that playoff game against the Buffalo Bills, including the one that would have tied the game with a two-point conversion late in that fourth quarter. He is obviously one of the best tight ends in Baltimore Ravens history, and he’s been one of the best tight ends over the last five to six years in the National Football League. But he is 29 years old. He’s getting older. His contract is close to running out. And with Isaiah likely continuing to rise the ranks amongst NFL tight ends, Mark Andrews could ultimately be on the move. Now, with that being said, I think I would ultimately pass on the veteran tight end for a couple of reasons. One, I don’t think it would cost you much, and that’s not a reason in terms of trade value, but the price tag is a little bit high. Now, it’s unclear of what Miami would have to pay in taking that back, but it would be close to probably 10 to$15 million at bare minimum. That’s just a little bit too much for a player that is 29 years old. Plus, if I am the Dolphins, although I do want to add a tight end to remain a little bit more competitive this season and help that, I don’t want to make a trade for a player that is almost nearing the end of their career. If I’m trading for a tight end, I would rather do a Cole KT styled trade where the player is 24, 25, 26, somewhere in that range and has still probably four or five years left until they start to head on the decline. So that is why I’m a little bit out on Mark Andrews. The next tight end fits that Cole KT mold. Number three on the CBS sports list, Chicka Konquo, the tight end who is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He’s played in three NFL seasons. He has yet to be extended from Tennessee, which is why maybe that they would be willing to move on from a conquo, especially when you factor in they drafted Gunnar Helm out of Texas in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft. So, they have a solid tight end in WY. They also draft Gunner Helm. A conquo final year of his deal could be on the outs. His stats are not gaudy. They are not going to wow you, but he has a good blend of size, athleticism that I think would play really well in the Dolphins scheme under Mike McDaniel. And he is a cheaper player to acquire as well. And this is a guy like a con or like John Smith, I should say, where I think the Dolphins would get the most out of Chica Conquo. I really think they would because you’ve seen flashes from him in his first three seasons and he shares some of the similar positive traits that Janu Smith had in terms of yak speed size and I think Mike McDaniel would get the most out of him. And I think in a trade it would not cost you that much. It would likely cost you a early day three pick, a fourth or fifth rounder. I think that because he is entering the last year of his deal, which takes down the price point in a trade a little bit knowing that that new team that acquires him would have to extend him to make that trade worth it. So, I do think Tennessee would contemplate dealing him away because of them drafting Gunner Helm in the fourth round this year and him projecting to be a potential tight end of the future in that organization. So, you trade an early day three pick where it’s a buy low, maybe high return. You can extend him and he fits the new younger timeline that you’re kind of going with as well. I think this would be a home run trade for Chris Greer. We’ll see if he tries to pull it off or if Tennessee would even be willing to budge, but I do think there’s a chance he would be available. I’ll tell you this, folks. If the Dolphins do make a move again before training camp, we will have you covered. We are currently on the road to 71K subscribers, we are about 316 away. Michael Mayer is a player consistently linked to the Miami Dolphins via trade, and I do believe he is someone that we could see the Dolphins ultimately acquiring if they wanted to make another trade for a tight end. unclear if Vegas wants to actually trade him. There was a beat reporter from Las Vegas that came out and said they have no interest in trading him away and want to keep him and Brock Bowers together as a one-two punch in that tight end room. But there is legit connection between Miami and Mayor. There was interest from Miami side on taking the Notre Dame tight end when he was coming out of the draft a couple years ago. And there has been multiple Miami Dolphins reporters and columnists to say that there are interested eyes from this Dolphins organization in the Raiders tight end. And there was a big report earlier this off season that mayor is available on the trade market. He just did not have a good second season in the National Football League. He missed six games due to a personal issue. And when you saw Brock Bowers be so dominant as a rookie, you could understand why they would be willing to move off of Michael Mayer who has a really good frame, is really physical, really strong, a good red zone target. He doesn’t give you those things that you’d want to see in terms of athleticism and yak that you would see out of a conquo and a John Smith type tight end, which played so well in the Dolphin scheme this past season. but good blocker and good body to put in the red zone to be a threat. We’re going to get to the final Dolphins trade target at tight end here in a second, but grab your Dolphins polo. Last chance right now. chatsports.com/mia Nike polo. It is $25 off, usually 65. You can get it for 40. Not many times you’re going to see that type of deal. So, take advantage. Links in description and comments of today’s video. One more time, chatsports.commia. Nike Polo. Final trade target we’ll talk about on today’s show is Tyler Hegby. The longtime Los Angeles Rams tight end. The 32year-old is kind of being pushed out of that organization at the moment. He did not have a good season last year, dealt with injuries and missed most of the season. And when he played, he didn’t show the same amount of flashes. This would be an extreme buy low type of trade for Miami where it would cost you probably similar to what you trade for Darren Waller in terms of being like a late day three pick swap where you send a sixth and get Higgby and a seventh in return because there just isn’t going to be a lot of trade value for the 32 year old. Now with that being said, would he be arguably your best tight end on the roster? Yes, he would. But I’ll take a hard pass. I’ll be honest, I would not trade for Tyler Hegby. If you’re the Dolphins and I’m making a trade, I would probably try to grab a guy that we talked about earlier on the show rather than the oldest tight end amongst this bunch, 32 years of age, who has a ton of injury history and has been unable to stay on the football field over the past couple of seasons. Yes, he was very good in the early 2020s, but not the last couple of years. So, before I give you my thoughts, I want to know which tight end would you trade for? We showed five. We didn’t talk about Kyle Pitts today. We did a full video on Pitts a couple days ago, but let me know which tight end would you choose for the Dolphins to trade for if they went out and grabbed one. Let me know your thoughts. CBS Sports ranked him as the number third on this list. I’m going to go with him being my number one. If I’m trading for a tight end, I’ll take Chika Konquo. I don’t think Cole KT is actually available right now, he’s obviously the best tight end on this list in terms of age and production, but with a conquo having so many similarities to Janu Smith in terms of speed, yak size, I think he would be able to thrive in the Dolphin system. He would be cheap to acquire on your books, but as well as in trade. You can extend him and then get the best out of him and have him under contract for three or four seasons and have your tight end of the future. I think that would be a home run trade for Miami. Unsure if Tennessee would be willing to make that deal, but if I’m Chris Greer, I’m absolutely giving them a call and seeing what it would take to potentially pry a conqu. 1. While yes Waller is intriguing, he isn't a guarantee. I think the phins should 100% find another TE to go alongside Waller or be a failsafe if he doesn't work out. So I would prefer a younger but vetted TE who fits our scheme. This is the Dolphins though so I guess we will see.

  2. Imagine if we could have made the trade for Minkah and still kept and paid Jonnu. Our holes would have just been Oline depth and Corner. Not bad for a team that drained a lot of good players

  3. if we wanted a good tight end we would have just paid jonnu it would make no sense to get someone like mark Andrew’s. It seems to me the dolphins just want a TE that’s cheap and won’t cost a lot of money

  4. The dye is cast at the TE spot and the Dolphins are committed to not paying much for this position. Focus will be, and should be, back up OL, followed by CB – and Dolphins might decide to stick with the young CB guys.

  5. I believe trading Bradley Chubb for a DB or good capital is the next move. First you rlly focus on the Grayson Murphy hype, you get another DB that you could start, and even more money you can lock down another FA DB

  6. ITS NOT A RUMOR ITS THIS JOKERS OWN BS OPINION LIKE MOST THE TIME. WALLER IS IT AS MUCH AS ID LIKE PITTS. WE NEED CB OR 2 AND MAYBE DEPTH OL and DL. Unless free up cap space can only get a CB and maybe a cheap depth piece

  7. Rather continue upgrading the Oline depth. We don’t need another TE imo. If they must… Andrews is the guy. I honestly have no faith in Miami this year. Tua needs to be replaced. GM and owner also.

  8. If there doing more signings they need to first extend sieler and brooks.if there trying to contend they need to restructure tuas contract and then they can get 2 cbs and a te
