MLB LIVE🔴 San Francisco Giants vs Oakland Athletics – Jul 6, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

And welcome in everybody. Glad you’re with us. Fourth of July baseball coming at you. It’s the San Francisco Giants taking on the Athletics. First pitch coming your way next. So, just about set now and today’s starter Mitch Spence. And Singi, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots.
Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got in this one. [Applause] Mike Yremsky leading things off and takes a strike. That misses and the count even one and one. The one-1 is fouled off and it skips in the dirt.
Two balls, two strikes. [Music] tapped softly on the ground and that’s just foul. Good eye right there. Full count. [Applause] That one misses. So a lead off walk. Well, that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat. Saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing the wall.
Very Willie Adam stands in. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. This one in the air right field. Rooker sizing this one up. Hauls it in. And there’s one away. Batty third.
Here’s the Giants lineup. And perhaps part of the game plan is to get into the bullpen as early as possible. They’re facing a staff that’s blown a lot of games in the later innings.
Booan is hitters. You’re aware of that. But you don’t want to become too relaxed in way too late in the ball game because you never know what could happen on any given day. But with that said, even if you fall behind early, you’ve got a lot of confidence that this game will not be over until that final out. Raphael Des in the box with one away as he takes ball one. [Music] Fouled off. He was late. [Applause] And there’s a ball. Fouls one off. Two and two. [Music] [Applause] Got him. Two down.
Well, I think that was just a case of a hitter quitting on a pitch. He was looking fast ball and didn’t see it out of the hand and just left the bat on his shoulder. That was a change up right over the plate. Probably not the location he was looking for, but the change of speeds is what fooled him and he got the out. Yensky off of first with two away. Next pitch misses inside and that is ball one. That one back up the middle and it gets through. They stop the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs.
Centerfielder Jung Hu.
Once you get the ball by the pitcher, there’s a lot of base hits up the middle, even on ground balls. So a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit. At the plate, Jung Hu Lee and the first pitch misses for ball one. Two aboard, two outs. Let’s go. Out there to center. And he’ll play it on a bounce and the Giants score first. It’s one zip. Couple of singles back to back. Pretty good spot hard and inside, but that’s a perfect example of keeping your hands inside the ball tight to the body. The ability to take that back up the middle. Shows his approach is to use the entire field.
First and second, two outs. Dom Smith stands in. Striking the outside corner one.
At this point, the clean inning is over. Got to settle in, focus on the hitter and get out of it with minimal damage. Two on, two outs. Jack Swain called strike.
And that is strike two.
All you got to do is concentrate and execute this next pitch. Get yourself out of the jam, back into the dugout. Foul ball still 0 and two. It’s great to get on the board in the first frame of the ball game, but here’s an opportunity for them to really open things up with a couple of runners on. Let’s see if they can cash in.
Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was.
At the belt and fires.
That one almost got him. First and second, two down. Hit hard on the ground to the right side. Fair ball coming home and he can’t come up with it. One run across rounds third headed for the plate. Safe at the plate and the misplay comes back to bite them and they’re up by three. Very costly error in the outfield on that one. Two runs come across. That’s just a tough one to swallow. You know, some errors you can get bailed out by your pitcher if he’s able to work around it, but not here. The damage is already done.
Tyler Fitzgerald the next to hit. He’s one of the faster guys just by pure sprint speed in the majors. Swing on the first pitch. Appeal down to first. And that’s a swing according to umpire Mike Filmore. [Applause] Inside corner and that’s called a strike.
No ball
runner at second. Two down. [Applause] Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. He won’t get there. That should be extra bases. Runner from second scores as they add on. Four hits in a row and they’re really swinging it here. You got that foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. So, runner at second, two down. Here’s the third baseman, Brett Wisley. That clips the corner.
Well, it’s not the inning he was planning on to begin this start. But you’ve got to find a way to shake things off and give your team some length and put up some zeros. Swing and that ball smashed on a line. Drops in for a hit. couldn’t run it down. They extend their lead as the runner scores from second. They are really feeding off each other. That’s five hits in a row. A lot of times in today’s game, right fielders are able to get to a ball that stays in like that, but he hit that one pretty well. And if he hits it just a little bit different on the barrel, it’s out of here easily. But there’s nothing wrong with the extra bases right there. manager out of the dugout now and he will make a move to dip into the A’s bullpen. Mitch Spence is done and he’s responsible for the runner on second. So, the book isn’t closed on him yet. We’ll be right back. Now, PJ
ready out of the pen number 50. I think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pen when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard. just doesn’t have the same intensity to it. But he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score. Man at second here with two away. Andrew Kisner now at the plate. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Applause] And another ball. Two outs and one in scoring position. Swang and a miss. Now two balls in a strike.
One strike. [Applause] And there’s a foul ball [Applause] and down on strikes. Inning ends and that stops the bleeding. But nine batters hit in the inning. Five come around to score. On to the bottom of the first. It’s the Giants five and the Athletics coming to bat. Back here with my pal Singi and on the hill for the Giants, Robbie Ray. Tell us about him in that sub3 ERA. Sing.
Well, anytime you can keep your ERA under three, you’re doing a lot of things right and you’re putting your team in a position to win a lot of ball games as well. and he’s doing tremendous out there on the mound. Every time he gets the ball, you expect him to go out there and dominate. And that’s what he’s been to this point. We’ll see how he is today.
Ready to go for the last half of the inning. Here’s a speed threat. Denzel Clark. There’s the strike of the knees and the count one and one. swings through the fast ball up in the zone.
One ball, two strikes. And that just misses.
Really good take, especially with two strikes. Cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. You hear people talk about letting the ball travel so often in terms of a hitting approach. And that’s a great example why right there. If he’s willing to let that curve ball get a little deeper into the zone before he commits, he’s way more likely to recognize that it’s making a beline for the dirt on the other side. Still a nice two strike pitch though. swings and misses. And it’s 0 and two. One out. Base is empty. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. Oh, really expanded the zone right there with that fast ball off the outside corner of the plate. Got him to chase it.
That’s a tough one to lay off of because it starts close to you and just continues to run away from you in that batter’s box. So, it’s a really nice pitch with two strikes. Brent Rooker stands in now and watches strike one. Looks really sharp at the start of this one. This is how it’s going to be today. It’s going to be a tough one for this lineup.
Got him. Strikes out the side to begin the game. What a start. Nothing doing there for the A’s. Still looking at that five nothing deficit. All set for the start of the inning. Here comes Micros. First pitch and he just misses. swearing in a foul straight back. The 1-1. Just missed. Taps softly to the right side. Kurts steps on the bag and quickly one away in the second.
Now batting shortstop Willie Adamus. Willie Adamus the next Giant to hit. He’s 0 for one. Adamus goes 6’1 220 lbs. He joined the team as a free agent. There’s the strike. Highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side. That’s out to center field. Clark holds it in for the out. Up next,
two out and it’s Raphael Des in the box. Struck out looking at his first at bat. He swings and fouls one off.
Two outs. Base is empty. late on that fast ball.
No ball. Two strikes. Fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two. And a good eye there. and Rafi falls victim to the K.
Nothing doing there for San Francisco, but they hold a five nothing lead. And welcome back to the ballpark. And here’s the first baseman, Nick Curts, number 16. Nick, here we go. Ray back to work and first offering is fouled off. Got some cut action to it. Velocity pretty good on that slider so far. Moving the ball around nicely. Swing and a liner foul off to the right. Fouls it back with two strikes. make it four strikeouts in a row. Just cruising along. Boo. He was shopping at the buckle right there. The way that slider made him look, that was just nasty.
Maxy up next for the A’s.
That one catches the zone. That’s strike one. One down, base is empty.
1-1. Kenny Jansen doing home plate duties in this one.
Not a huge strike zone from Jansen, so he can’t really be called a pitcher umpire, but he does like the bottom part of the strike zone. We may see some pitchers steal a few strikes down there, especially the ones right below the knees. That’s if their catcher can present it properly. One, two. The shorts stop takes the ball. Fans don’t really understand the familiarity and relationship players and coaches have with umpires. I mean, you see them a lot.
Yeah, but they’re all out there trying to do their best and perform at a high level. So, when you respect that, I think over time you can develop a relationship with them.
Another one. That’s five straight strikeouts. Well, right now he’s in cruise control, autopilot, just dominating these hitters. I mean, doesn’t look like it’s a fun at bat.
And all of a sudden, you become in awe of this guy on the mound. Somebody’s got to break this thing up. That’s five straight strikeouts. Got to put a ball in play.
Austin wins. Stands in with two away as he takes a ball. late with the swing there instead of let the hitter get his arms extended.
Tied him up a little bit. Slightly up, slightly in. Fast ball for a strike at 95.
Looks like a really good fast ball today. You can hear that catcher mitt popping. Looking forward to hearing a lot of that one in this one. Fouls it off. Still one and two. [Music] And that’s in the dirt. [Applause] Swing and a miss for the strike out. And he strikes out the side for the second time today. A’s go quickly and quietly there. It’s 5 nothing. And we’re back. Here’s Elliot Ramos. Left fielder Elliot Ramos. There’s the strike. All these Giants doing a good job at the plate with runners on base and that can be a key difference maker in the game. They’ve been delivering when it matters most. Batting over 750 with runners in scoring position so far. It’s been impressive to watch. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another the other way. Pulls it in for the out. That at bat is a positive sign even though it probably doesn’t feel like it. He hit the ball hard but it doesn’t always work out in your favor. Sometimes a defender is there to make a play. Here’s Jung Hu Lee. Now, he was asked to rank his all-time favorite players last year.
Oh, yeah. Who made the list?
Well, his dad, of course.
That makes sense.
He also said Ken Griffy Jr., Ichiro, Hassen, and himself.
Well, I’d say that’s a pretty good list. One down, base is empty. Swanging a high-fly ball, ragged field. Rooker makes a nice grab at a full sprint.
Outstanding catch right there. And I love the commitment that he showed. He knew that the wall was close, but was determined to make that catch and a nice calculation of just how much room he had to try to minimize that contact. Smith stands in here, leaves that one off the inside. Outside with a breaking ball. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound. In this situation, a head 200, he’s put himself in a really good spot. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball three. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit and that keeps the inning alive. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Timing on the swing was good. Able to shoot the ball up the middle. didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked, but that’s a good approach paying off.
Tyler Fitzgerald, the next Giant to hit. He doubled home a run at his first AB. Fought off foul. Come on. Two outs. Ground ball left side and foul ball. Swings through that one. It’s a strike out. One left for San Francisco as they are unable to add to their five nothing lead. Bottom of the inning. Here’s Luis Rias. He’s got pop, which is a little sneaky because he’s so comfortable with taking his base hits to the opposite field, but he can jump you if you make a mistake. Ball one, no strikes. 10. And another ball. Two to count. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Yensky under it and it’s caught for the out. Batting eight left fielder Kobe.
Here’s the left fielder. Come on. Pitch misses there. One and0. swings through that one-1. A little out front there as he swings through it.
One ball, two strikes. [Music] Fights that one away. Still one and two. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Stays alive. That just misses. It’s two and two.
Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Quite the start to this game on the mound. Looking very dangerous to these hitters. Seven punch outs already. So, this lineup hasn’t had much success trying to figure them out. I’m impressed with what we’re seeing here.
Max Schuman, the next to hit, takes ball one. [Applause] Let’s go green, baby. Let’s go. Next offering is in for a strike. And that is out of play. Two down. Do on. Back to the mound. He’s got it. Inning over.
That’s an out.
Nine straight retired here to start the game. It’s the Giants five and the A’s nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. John Shambi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Brett Wisley. This one in the air. Curts should have this one and he makes the catch. And there’s one down.
That was a good pitch to hit. Right down the heart of the plate. Had pretty good timing on it. Just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up.
Here’s Andrew Kisner. Went down on strikes his first time through. Baby, let’s go. breaking ball through there for a strike. The Athletics have some bullpen action. JP Sears getting loose out there. Now the one inside corner for a strike. 02 count. Both pitches on the inside part of the plate. Hitter is thinking I don’t want to get beat here. This is a good time for something off speed away. Base is empty, one away. Top half of inning number four. Going to count one and two. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Really great change of speeds. He goes off the off speed to the fast ball and the hitter doesn’t know what’s coming next. Foul ball. Still a one and two count. One down. Base is empty. That missed by a lot. And the count’s even a two. Ninth pitch of the at bat do next on the ground right side and foul ball. Breaking ball almost misses down and away. Recognize that change up right out of the hand. just spit on it up the middle dives and he can’t hang on. No throw and he reaches safely. Showing a lot of fight with two strikes in that AB. That was the 11th pitch he saw. Pretty remarkable when you can stay locked in for that long a time and still come away with a knock.
So the lineup flips over. Mike Estrenky up here and first offering is fouled off. Ker leads off first with one away and he boots it. Still able to fire. Wanted second. Now batting shortstop Willie Adam. Here’s the shortstop at the plate. Willie Adamus hole for two in this one. [Music] That one a little bit high. That’s ball one. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Drops into the globe. And that is that. [Applause] Bottom of the fourth now. Here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s, Denzel Clark.
Denzel Clark. [Music] Fly ball down the line. Corrals it. And there’s one down. Now batting third baseman, Tyler.
And now Tyler Soderstrom. His first at bat was a strikeout. Fast for a strike.
01. Just missed. [Music] And it’s fouled away. The Giants leading by five. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Well, he hasn’t gotten the result yet, but it’s got to feel pretty confident. Three foul balls in a row. He’s right on this guy. And now two and two. [Music] High in the air out to right.
Yensky pulls it in. Two away. Now batting the right fielder. Brent Brent Rooker up next for the A’s. He struck out swinging at his first at there’s the strike.
Not sure if he was expecting for the pitcher to come right at him, but he got a nice cookie there and just watched it the entire way. Two outs and a swing and a miss.
Strike out number eight. And we’re back. Raphael de up to hit. The designated hitter. Raphael
de in his eighth season, 28 years old. He’s usually a third baseman, but today he’s the designated hitter. And a first pitch fast is in for a strike.
Little bit of a day off for him. Instead of being at the hot corner, he can just kind of put the batting gloves on, hold the bat as he sits on the bench waiting for his time to hit. Ball one, one ball, two strike and a one, two again. Tap dances out of the way of that one. gets under and pops it up. Muny puts it away for the out. Now batting left fielder Elliot Ramos. So digging in, Elliot Ramos. Singled and scored back in the first. He’s one for two. Hit in the air left field. That one gets down for a hit. So a man aboard now with one away. Jung Huli the next Giant to hit. Fast for a strike. man at first, one away. And a foul ball. in the dirt. Throw to second. Not in time. He’s there easily. Ramos into scoring possession on the wild pitch. And there goes the double play possibility.
Well, that right there erases the chance at the inning ending double play. So, good job on the bases to move up on the wild pitch. Changes the outlook of the inning in a pretty big way. [Music] on the ground right side. Steps on first for the out. Well, he didn’t recognize change up earlier enough. Got out front a little bit, rolled over on it and beat it into the ground. Now it’s Dominic Smith. Let’s go green to go, baby. Let’s go. Swing and a foul back and that’s out of play. And that’s outside. Swing at a high-fly ball left field. And that is that. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Leading off Nick
Kurt base number 16. Ray back to work.
Yeah, that’s fouled off.
You know, these athletics, they’re not going to be happy with the at bats they’ve been having so far. We’re in the back half of the game and they’re still searching for a base runner. He’s been great out there on the mound, no doubt. But it’s also been a disappointing performance at the plate to this point. The next pitch misses. It’s a ball in two strikes.
And as we get deeper, it’s not going to get any easier. These at bats are going to feel more and more desperate with every out the rest of the way. Two two. [Applause] That one misses. Full count. Now
the only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. The kick, the 3-2 gets a piece there. We’ll do it again outside and that is ball four. And that’s their first base runner of the game.
What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that walk.
Next up for the A’s, Maxy struck out swinging his first time. [Applause] And that one’s a little bit low. Ball one.
Nasty back door slider. There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it. So that’s a good take by him. Swings through that one.
I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. To third might be two. Wisely to second on to Smith. Two.
Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish.
Now batting the catcher Austin.
Two down base is empty. Austin wins. getting ready to hit. 0 for one. He struck out swinging last time. Fast ball for a strike. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball.
There’s a strike. He doesn’t seem to like to pitch up. Hasn’t offered on either one of those pitches. 02 count now. I think the guy’s going to climb the ladder out there. Two down to and that one almost hit him. Straighten him up a little bit. That’s outside and the count is two and two. The A’s yet to pick up a hit here. And a swing and a miss. And that’s that. Top of the sixth inning. Here’s the second baseman. Tyler Fitzgerald and a swing and a miss. Movement in the bullpen. JP Sears up and loosening in the pen. in the air to left center. Clark and there’s one away. Now batting third baseman Brett Wisley. Now the third baseman, Brett Wisley. And a first pitch fastball is in for a strike.
He’s been very consistent with his command out there on the mound. Consistently throwing at the knees. Pretty impressive when a guy can repeat his delivery like this.
Misses the zone and he gets him to chase. Man, that was pretty gross right there. And that one is lifted in the air. Diving. It gets down. Could be extra bases. The throw in. Not going to get him. He’s in there.
Really nice job of two strike hitting in that bat. You can’t do much better than that on a pitch that far outside of the strike zone. Got him to chase on the two strike count, but he wasn’t fooled. He hit that ball really well. Andrew Kner digs in now. One for two. Inside corner at the knees. That’s a strike. Good fast ball. bring him home. And that’s off the inside edge. And that’s ball one. And that’s too high. One out and a runner at second. And we’re in the top half of the sixth. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike.
Two balls, two strikes. That misses the zone and it’s three and two. He goes down looking. So up next, Mikeieler, Mike Yastki. Let’s go to gold, baby. Let’s go. Pitch misses and it’s one and0. That one is absolutely belted. Gone. Mike Ystrepky leaves the yard. His second homer this series. And they add on. It’s 7 nothing. Already playing with the lead and now they’re celebrating a home run. They’re having a great time out there. change up in the zone is a hitter’s dream. It’s a BP fast ball, but you’re playing in real time. Most times the pitcher’s asking for a new baseball just like right there. [Applause] And up next for the Giants, Willie Adams. Right through there for a strike. [Applause] That misses and one and one. Foul ball. [Applause] Here’s the pitch to Adamus. The shorts stop takes the ball. Hacks and misses. It’s a strikeout. The Giants strike for a pair as you get another look at the two-run dinger. It’s now 7 nothing and welcome back to the ballpark. Now here is Luis Rias.
Luis Ras. Well, every pitcher wants run support and having a lead is nice, but it can be challenging for some pitchers. I think keeping the mindset to attack instead of trying to be too fine and have too much finesse. Go after hitters and get quick outs. The O2. Yeah, that skips in the dirt. swings through it and that’s a strike out.
Pretty electric stuff showing up on the mound right now. I mean, any double digit strikeouts, he should be able to rack up some more before he’s done in this one. And you know, not many of these hitters have had much of an answer for what he’s offering out there. Number 32 in the box now. No balls in a strike. One strike. Next offering in there for a strike. No balls, two strikes.
All right. Now, he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire’s calls, but at this point, he’s going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the zone.
Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Belly is ready for that fast ball right there. Really turned on it. Hit it hard. Had the distance but just too much hook to it. So might want to make a little bit of an adjustment. Let it travel a little more and see if you can keep that thing fair. Next one misses. Two and two. [Applause] Swinging a ball hammered left field. That’s back there and gone. He sends a rocket to left. His first homer of the year. And they’re on the scoreboard. It’s 7-1. [Applause] I wasn’t sure he hit that one as hard as he needed to to get it out of here, but it had just enough behind it for the homer. What an attempt at the wall, though. He really gave a terrific effort to try and bring that one back. [Applause] So, one out, nobody on. Max Schuman up next for the A’s. Just missed. [Applause] [Applause] That one missed.
I can’t play around with him here. It’s a six-run lead at this point. Got to attack hitters even if you give up a solo shot.
Breaking ball inside. And that’s ball three. [Applause] Late on that fast ball.
It really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. [Music] And that one is inside and it’s ball four.
Just missed his spot on the inside right there.
Up next for the A’s.
So the batting order turns over and here is Denzel Clark.
This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. off the mark there and that is ball one.
I was always told it’s hard to take you off the field when you play really good defense, especially at a premier position and that’s what he does.
And another ball. The hitting’s going to come around. He’s going to figure it out. But right now, his big asset is the way he plays the game on defense. That’s down and in.
Signs of movement in the Giants bullpen. Ryan Walker getting ready to come in for Bob Melvin. Bird song getting cranked up as well. Here’s a three 0.
That clips a corner. Schuman, the base runner at first with one out [Applause] to the right side to second. Pulls him off the bag. up for the
unfortunately they’ve got a big lead on the scoreboard so the error shouldn’t hurt too much but you have to be careful about losing concentration at a game like this can be an easy trap to fall into. So, first and second with one gone. Now, the number two hitter, Tyler Soderstroke, popped up to the left into foul ground. Reaches over the wall and he’s got it. Boy, that was a hanging breaking ball right there. I think he tried to do a little bit too much. Sometimes those eyes can get really big. I think his swing broke down as well and that’s what caused him to pop it up. So, first and second with two outs. Now it’s the right fielder Brent Rooker and ball one. First and second, two down here in the bottom of the six. [Applause] He swings and drives one out to deep left field and it’s a one hopper off the wall. Should be extra bases. One run is in. He’s in there. It’s seven to three. Gets the job done as he brings home a pair. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. Could be a chance here for them to start clawing back into this ball game. Bob Elvin hands the baseball over. That’ll do it for Robbie Ray. And he was a tough nut to crack. Pretty stingy from start to finish. Back with a new arm after a quick break. Now pitching for Mason Black gets the ball now. And he’s got a nice lead to work with so he should come in throwing strikes, attacking these hitters. So, runner at second, two down. Next up for the A’s, Nick Curts. He is struck out and he is walked. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. [Applause] man at second. 1-1.
Squirts away a little bit. [Applause] And that’s outside and the count. Two and one. [Applause] That one fouled off. [Applause] Two- two cut on and missed. And it’s a strikeout. And that is the inning. But three score in the inning. Two of them on this two-run double. It’s now a four-run lead at 73. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound, JP Sears.
He’s been so good against lefties. [Applause] Now it’s De at the plate. For three in this one, Raphael Des. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Robert to right field. Way back. Gone. That’ll fire up the dugout. His 18th home run of the season. And they boost their lead. It’s 83. And that shot makes their grip on the lead even tighter. Looks like this guy was looking out over the plate, but he was ready to turn on the inside. Fast ball. So direct to the pitch. Absolutely blasted out of this ballpark. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Elliot Ramos. [Applause] And there’s in for a strike. [Applause] [Applause] Swing at a highf fly ball that’s out to center and there’s one down. [Applause] Now batting center fielder Jung Hu Lee. And now the center fielder Jung Hu Lee. Let’s go to baby. Let’s go. [Applause] Line drive ripped down the left side towards the left field corner. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Now batting the first baseman,
Dominic Smith, the next Giant to hit. [Applause] And there’s the strike. [Applause] Lee stands at first with one out. [Applause] Swang and a miss. Missed that by a mile and the count is 0 and two [Applause] and the pitch is outside. Ball one. Rarely will you see a pitcher just to waste a pitch like that. The batter wasn’t even tempted to swing. Every pitch needs to have a purpose so that it can set up a following pitch to help you get that out. And a foul ball. He stays alive. [Applause] Got him. Now two away. Now batting.
Next to hit Tyler Fitzgerald.
Tyler Fitzgerald. [Applause] First pitch misses.
Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it.
One run across in the frame so far here in the top half of inning number seven. Next offering is down low. Foul ball there. [Music] [Applause] swings and sends a rocket to right. Rooker makes the grab and that’s the third out. It’s a run for the Giants on the Solo Blast. It’s now 83. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. set for the last half of the seventh and the batter will be the shortstop Maxy. Maxy that clips the corner. No, inside. That one finds the zone and the count. One and two.
Fly ball. Two strikes. Now fly ball to right center. Yensky on the move to the alley. No trouble here. Puts it away for the bad.
One up. One down.
The catcher Austin wins. Now Austin wins, who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. And the first pitch misses for ball one. One ball.
The Giants leading by five here. The bottom of the seventh. Just missed.
Struggled a little bit in this one. couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter’s count at 2 and 0. Inside three and 0. There’s a strike. Three balls, one strike. Swinging a foul out of play on the ground right side over to Smith. Two gone. Up next for the A’s, designated hitter Luis Urias.
Two outs, space is empty. Now it’s going to be Luis Urias. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. And that gets the top of the zone for a strike. Fast ball is outside.
I don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count. Just tried to overthrow that pitch. Fouls it off. Still one and two. Swinging a ground ball up the middle. Adamus the throw to first that ends the inning and the A’s are gone in order. Can’t chip away at an 83 deficit. New inning getting started. And now Brett Wisley. Sears back to work and first offering is fouled off. Top of the zone for a called strike. That’s a ball. Tried the sweeper. Not close with that one. Now two and two. [Music] Swing and a highf fly ball in the air left field. Makes the catch and there’s one gone. Now batting catcher Andrew Ker.
Andrew Kizner will hit next. One for three. Let’s go to baby. Let’s go. First off and it just misses.
One.
Base is empty. One away. And we’re in the top of the eighth. Next offering is in for a strike.
One ball, one strike. Way high. Next offering is fouled back. This one smoked. Could be trouble. Now he’ll turn for second. The relay not in time. It’s a double. Everything came together for him. Man, that feels so good to shoot an absolute both the opposite way. Split the gap and know that you got extra bases right off the bat. That’s the kind of thing hitters dream about when they’re falling asleep at night. Mike Ystreky, the next Giant to hit. He’s already homerred in this game. That one catches the corner for a strike.
01. [Applause] Ker the runner at second with one away. Swinging a foul straight back. And that one upstairs. Ball one.
One ball, two strikes. [Applause] That misses the zone and the count is even. Two and two. Runner at second here. One gone. Just misses with that one. back up the middle in a base hit. Just kind of sliced that one into center. Now batting shorts stop Willie Adam.
Now Willie Adamus 0 for four. Three fly outs and a strikeout. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. A runner at third with less than two outs. This is the guy that usually comes through in these spots. Runners are at the corners. One away. Three to go, baby. Next offering is fouled back. [Applause] Lefty out of the stretch. Runners at first and third. Hit on the ground to the right side and it goes just foul. Swanging a ground ball base hit right field. Runner in from third to extend their lead. It’s an RBI single and it’s now a six-run lead. That’s a good job right there.
Got two strikes on you. Just got to battle. Manager out of the dugout now and he will make a move to dip into the A’s bullpen. JP Sears out of the game and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this now pitching
new arm out of the bullpen, Jacob Lopez.
And with the big deficit on the scoreboard, he almost has to just put that out of his mind.
Every outing matters for relievers and their numbers, but I think it’s tough to get up for this type of appearance the same way you would for one in a close game. Devils. Now he’s already homerred here in this one. First pitch just misses. Runners at first and second with one gone. Fast for a strike. He’s trying to stay away from this lefty knowing that a lot of left-handers like the ball down and in. [Applause] Right back to the mound. Could be an easy two. Quickly to second for one. Double play. What a twin killing to end the inning. But they push across one run on three hits. No errors and one left. Last half of the eighth coming up. It’s the Giants nine and the A’s three. This game’s a bit of a blowout singing. Let’s talk about something random.
Let’s do it.
Singing, did anybody ever give you the silent treatment?
I don’t remember that they did. I think they were pretty cool with me in terms of celebrating my rookie year. First home run came in Anaheim against the Angels. And I always love to watch now though, especially when that player is unsuspecting. You know, some guys, they they’ve been around long enough to know there’s a good chance I’m going to get the silent treatment, but when that player’s maybe been grinding it out for a little while and finally gets that home run, is expecting the big lift coming into the dugout and they just stonewall him, it’s awesome. Next offering misses down and away. Every once in a while, they’ll work that same trick on a veteran player. if say he’s been cold or hasn’t hit a home run in a long time. And that’s always fun when you don’t see it coming at all and everybody in the dugout goes crickets on him.
Yeah. And and that veteran player’s usually got a response for those individuals with one or the other hands. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strike out. Schuman batting with one down. Takes the strike.
The Athletics with a lot of ground to make up here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. That was your worst start one year. Didn’t you start like three for 33 or something? Oh, it was awesome. It was I mean it was awful. Not awesome. It was awesome. It was awesome for pitchers facing me, but it was
awful for me. It sounded like some type of deal at a fast food restaurant. Like three for 33 or something. And that one ripped to left. Ramos makes the grab and there’s two gone. Now batting center fielder. Denzel Clark.
Two down. Base is empty. Here’s the center fielder. Denzel Clark 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. Outside corner. There’s the strike. And this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. They say win. O2. And now one and two. One, two. [Music] Keeps the bat going with a foul ball. [Music] Ground ball right side. Smith takes it to the bag and it’s a one, two, three inning. This one pretty well decided at this point through eight full. It’s the Giants nine and the A’s three. And we’re back. We go to the ninth. Here’s a cleanup hitter for the Giants. Elliot Ramos left Elliot Ramos. [Applause] And first offering is fouled off. [Applause] ball on there. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Justin Sterner, the hardth throwing righty, is up and loosening. Nukem also throwing. [Applause] And that’s a little bit high. [Applause] [Applause] swings and misses. Struck him out now. Daddy.
And up next for San Francisco, Jung Hu Lee. [Applause] on the ground to the left. Whips it to first and a couple of quick outs. Now batting first baseman Dominic Smith. Stepping in Dominic Smith. [Applause] Ground ball up the middle and that chance handled. Whips it to first on the run. Nicely done for the hour. Nothing doing here this half. 234 set to hit in the bottom of the ninth. It’s the Giants nine and the A’s three. Now pitching for stand.
So out of the paint comes the right-hander Ryan Walker. And as relievers go, he’s not a big strikeout guy. He tries to force weak contact. So command and execution are huge for him. Tyler’s third baseman Tyler Soderstrong. [Applause] And the first pitch misses for ball one. [Music] Well struck left field. Did one hops off the wall. Should be extra bases into second easily with a leadoff double. Well, that’ll make you feel good as a hitter right there. That was maybe even a little off the plate, but no problem getting the barrel to it. Man, he does such a nice job. And that’s what you’re supposed to do with the pitch in that location. And now the right fielder Brent Rooker. and downstairs. One ball, no strikes. [Applause] And a slider in the outside corner for a strike. [Applause] Swang at a highf fly ball well struck ranging back pulls it into the warning trap. Runner tags and will move up to third. Man, I love watching an outfielder take on the wall to make that play. And it’s a lot easier to watch from up here because that can be painful in the end. You know the wall’s coming up on you quickly. So you have to maintain concentration in able to make that catch and hold on to it after contact. Herz stands in now and watches strike one. [Applause] That one inside ball one.
One ball, one strike. [Applause] one away with a runner at third. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. Fights that one away. Still one and two. He got it. Hit on the ground to short. Adamus the throw to first now. Two away as they get a run across.
Well, a run comes across to score right there, but defensively when you have a lead like this late in the ball game, you’re counting outs. Nice job of simply just trading a run for now.
Short stop.
The Athletics down to their last out. Next up for the A’s, Max. [Applause] A short stop takes a ball.
10. Pop foul out of play off to the right. [Applause] Two outs. And now two balls in a strike. [Applause] [Applause] Walker is just one strike away. That just misses. Full count. Three and two. That turns out to be a really good take right there. But you don’t want to end this game with the bat on your shoulder. [Applause] Three and two. The pitch is outside and ball four.
Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance.
Man at first, Austin wins up next for the A’s 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. [Applause] And there’s a foul ball. [Applause] And a breaking ball misses outside. [Applause] Ground ball to short and this ought to do it. That’s the ball game. Well, this team was ready from the first pitch of the ball game, swinging the bats, scoring runs, just very aggressive. I feel like they set the tone and that tone created a momentum that took them all the way to the finish line. Nice win today.
94 our final score for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shi saying so long.
