(Braves Today/Lindsay Crosby) The Braves Don’t Need a Miracle. They Need a Plan for 2026

And that plan… is a miracle!
Two things can be true at once. I really like Lindsay. I don’t always agree with him.
The first step should be deciding Acuna’s future. If not extending they need to get trade him and restock prospects. Unfortunately, the Braves are cheap and he’s as good as gone 😔.
First step is not trading Acuna. You won’t find a more team friendly deal in baseball. Off load some vets and expiring contracts to retool for next year. If the Braves offense returns to form soon, they could be a wild card team by the end of the season. They dug a hole early in the season without Acuna and probably won’t make the playoffs but they are far removed from having to rebuild.
I still think you unload Grant Holmes this deadline. He’ll be on the wrong side of 30 next year, and I don’t think he’ll be this solid/good again. You’ll see have Sale, Strider, Schwelly, Lopez (hopefully) and more next year. If you packaged Holmes with Murphy, you could possibly get your SS of the future in Wetherholt from St. Louis or Lawlar from Arizona.
Some more informed braves feel free to correct me but I feel that sale should go. He’s got enough good pitching left in him that a playoff team would be willing to hand over some decent stuff for him and we have players like Didier and AJSS coming up to replace him. Then we extend Acuña forever and hunker down for the winter
I don’t really disagree with much of this at this point. Let the kids pitch. This team is clearly not making the playoffs with the current roster, so let’s see what some of the younger guys can do.
