Sharks linked to SHOCKING move…
The San Jose Sharks have been linked to a shocking move after a new report states one of the decor is on the way out of the Bay Area for a potential winger in return. In this video, we’re going to talk about what a trade looks like and some potential players we could see brought in to the San Jose Sharks before the season even starts. So, you’re not going to want to miss this episode of Sharks Digest. But before we dive into everything here, we just want to say 66% of you guys watching these videos aren’t subscribed to the channel. So, if you want to stay up to date on the latest news around your San Jose Sharks, we’re going to be here every day keep you up to date on everything heading into uh this season and and a still a very busy off season to uh yet unfold. But uh with that said, we got to jump right into this report. We got multiple reports here about this defenseman trade. One from David Pagnota, one from Elliot Freeman via uh Shangpang article is where where I seen it. But the first one is from David Pagnota here saying the Sharks are looking to add another top six winger willing to dangle defenseman Mario Ferraro. I think this is something we’ve been uh heard talks about all last season going into the trade deadline was that Mario Ferrero had the potential to be moved out of San Jose at the deadline and obviously he stayed there. I like his game. I think he’s very good for the young defenseman that they do got coming up. And I think he’s one of the best um you know two-way, you know, leaning more defensive defenseman type guys uh in today’s game. And I think a contending team could really use him. I would hate to see him go because he’s such a good player, such a likable guy as well in all of his interviews and stuff. Always says some has some great comments to say about the fans, about the Bay Area, about playing in San Jose. So, it would hurt to see him go that way, but in a potential return where you’re getting a, you know, a maybe a younger winger that has that top six potential, maybe playing middle six at the start is where I’m thinking this is going. I think it is worth it. I think it’s, you know, you kind of bite the bullet. You’re like, ah, that sucks, but we’re getting, you know, X back in return, which I think is definitely something that Mike Greer and the Sounds the Sharks will look at. in this Shangpang article via Elliot Freeman said on his 32 thoughts podcast whether it’s Throne Thompson or Ferraro something is going to have to give here and this is basically him saying hey uh you know we know the Sharks have a surplus of Dman now because going into free agency we were all saying we need defense we need defense and then we go out and get so many defensemen we just picked up two just the other day so that just fills a log jam on the back end and it just seems like something is going to have to go here. Either one or two moves need to happen to uh free up some space for even a guy like Sam Dickinson, Luca Kagnoni, a lot of these young guys that I suspected we were going to see going into the season. There’s not enough room for them now with all these veteran guys there with bringing in Ley and Orlop. So, like Elliot Freeman says, something is going to have to give here. And I think the the defenseman you’re going to get the most return for in this scenario is definitely Mario Ferraro. So, I, you know, like I said, I hate to see him go, but it seems like that’s where they’re going here. I mean, looking at it, it says Ferrero, Lilligrin, Thron, and Thompson are all entering the last year of their contracts. The alternate captain is the most likely valuable trade asset and obviously the most available defenseman on a very affordable contract, too. there, I must add. I mean, 3.5 million I that’s a very he’s very serviceable to a lot of these playoffs teams that are capstrapped right now. So, uh I really like this. I think it’s going to happen. Will it happen, you know, before the season starts? I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. But I do think maybe I mean if you trade him now you are going to get the most in return that you are going to get because trading him at the deadline you’re only getting him for you know the playoffs in the last half of the season. So the value does go down a little bit there. So I think if they’re planning on moving on from Ferraro and not offering him an extension I think testing the waters before the season starts is definitely the best way to go about. But if they’re not getting the return they’re like, then that’s when we will see it move on to the trade deadline. And there’s some very interesting players here because as you seen in that first report from David Pagnota that they’re looking for a top six winger and there’s a lot of great wingers, young wingers is what I’m looking at here in uh today’s league. And but the way I wanted to go with this video is the RFAS that haven’t signed yet. I think these are definitely the the options that Mike Greer will be looking at. It’s like, hey, we got a 22, 23 year old guy who hasn’t signed extension with his team. Maybe we can ship out Ferraro, take some cap, you know, off the the playoff team, wherever this player is. And then, you know, you go on like that and you get a young 23, 22 year old guy with a lot of promise in this league. Again, the first guy I did want to talk about here today is from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and that is Nicholas Robertson. He’s a guy who never really got a fair shake in Toronto in in my opinion. I think he has all the potential to be a 30 40 goal scorer in this league. His shot is one of the best in the league. I think we’ve heard that from Austin Matthews say this guy has a better shot than I do. So, you see him last season getting into 69 games. He did play more games last year than he has in previous years because, you know, the old coach Sheldon Keith and him didn’t really get along. So, he wasn’t getting into games. So, now with that coaching change, he got in the more. He got 22 points, 15 goals there. That’s the upside of this guy. He is a goalc scoring winger. He’s going to come in and be a goal scorer for this team. And looking at a potential contract that you could sign him at uh when you go and make this trade, it’s not that much. I mean, if you you’re looking at a two-year deal here at about $2 million. So, about 1 million AAV for this guy or or 2 million AAV over two years for this guy. So, I think it’s worth it. I think getting Ferraro out and getting a winger with a lot of young potential. I think Nick Nick Robertson is definitely the move here that Mike Greer and San Jose should look at because I think this guy just needs a a fresh start once he gets out of Toronto and gets onto a team like San Jose where there’s a lot less pressure for him to perform night in night out under the bright lights. I think this will only be good for his career and I think we could really see a career rejuvenation for Nick Robertson in San Jose. This is the guy who is on the top of my watch list. I really would love to see this guy uh in the teal and black here in San Jose. I think he has something special and when you put him on the line maybe uh on a second line with Will Smith, who’s such a great playmaker, these guys would be a magic connection to have. There’s no doubt about that. But I want to hear your guys thoughts on a potential Nick Robertson trade. I definitely like it. I think Toronto could use the defense. They have enough cap to take him on right now. They’re at about 4.9 million as I’m recording this video. so they can just take that contract fully. You get the Nick Robertson extension off your books and you know that’s what I’m looking at. There’s obviously going to be some odds and ends in that trade as well. Not really sure what we’re looking at, but I think that is one that um I’m the most interested in, but there is one more I did want to take a look at as I was looking through this RFA list of guys who haven’t signed yet. There’s a guy down in Florida, Samuskevich. A guy who really impressed me um last year and and this year in the playoffs having a great year down uh in Florida. 31 points, 15 goals, 16 assists. Allaround guy, great goal scorer. He’s great at playmaking as well. Uh and uh you know, he’s he’s just an all-around kind of winger, and that’s what you need. He’s only 22, he’ll be 23 this season. Uh I like this this guy. And the problem is, you’re probably saying, why is Florida going to give up on a guy like Samvich, a guy who you’re getting a lot uh of, you know, point production out of in that bottom six on such a stacked team. But right now, Florida is $2.9 million over the salary cap, and they still need to offer this guy a contract. So, uh, it only makes sense for, uh, Florida to maybe move some cap out with Samuskevich in a trade that brings maybe Mario Ferraro to their team that bolster that defense even more than what it already is. I like it. I think Samvich would be a good fit in San Jose, similar to Nick Robertson. Really gives him uh, that extra room to grow and grow into the player that he’s meant to be. And I I like this. I think it’s the route they should go. I mean, the contract you’re going to get this guy at isn’t that much. $3 million over three years on a bridge deal is what uh uh Scotia Stack Card has here. You could even lock him up long term for about five. So, I like it. I think I’m personally, if it’s me, I’m looking at the Nick Robertson deal and I’m taking that. Even though there’s more point production coming out of a guy like Samuskevich, I think that Nick Robertson and his goal scoring ability would really pair well with the great playmakers that are already on this team. But I want to hear your guys thoughts down below in the comment section. Who are you going out to trade? Are you trading for one of these RFAS? Are you trading for somebody else? Love to hear your guys’ thoughts down below in the comment section. But as always, I’ve been your host Casey. We’ll catch you in the next one.

Alex Laferriere if at all possible.
Do you think Thrun could bring us more of a return? Is there the possibility that BOTH Thrun and Ferraro get moved to open up a spot for Dickinson?
Switch Ferraro to LW or RW he's physical and fast could see him score 30+
Fans need to balance their affection for Mario with the real world of WINNING. Mario is a great guy, just not one the Sharks need moving forward. Grier has a plan, the overabundance of Defense will almost certainly be used to trade for a winger to fill out the middle six, and even though your target wingers would fit the bill, Grier is always full of surprises, we'll have to wait for his move.
If Mario is not traded, I think he should be captain.
Not Robertson are you joking? Go after Kyrou
anything to win at this point
Good video and like the idea of looking at RFAs. Like you, I suspect that the winger GMMG is looking for will be on Smith's line.
Smith is not physical and plays little to no defense, so I think the player he gets should be a two-way defensive minded player. He also should be able to play center if Smith cannot handle the center duties. If he can score that would be a bonus.
Both Robertson and Samoskevich would not be a good linemate for Will Smith as they are both defensively challenged. Adding another defensive liability to Smith would be a disaster that I think GMMG will try and avoid.
I will say they both are young enough and could develop but my guess is GMMG is going to go for a more defensive player and neither of these options are that.
