  1. He’s right about the overreaction that they should rebuild/sell. Go get a third baseman, a reliever, and a starter. Play better baseball. This team has the talent to be better.

He’s completely right about not rebuilding and selling and people who think that we should are over reacting imo. about “not being able to take losing in the world series” part it’s all about how they lost. We had a chance in that series and the miserable meltdowns in games 1 and 5 will live with me until they win it all

    Wanting Cashman & Boone gone is different from wanting a full rebuild or selling. I don’t hate Boone or Cashman but I completely understand why people want them gone by now

    But fans that want to move on from Boone or Cashman have legit gripes. There are a lot of blunders to point at.

  6. Kay just watched this team first hand completely nuke a division lead and play like shit for a month and a half and this guy has the balls to be like what’s wrong? Why are you upset? Bro, how many years of incompetence do people who put in hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, into this team have to take before we get competent leadership in both the front office and the dugout? I’m tired of getting out of the winter and going into spring training with holes on the team and shopping on the clearance rack for players who come back to earth in the middle of the season. I’m sick of it. I’m ready for a full clean sweep of the front office and coaching staff.

    Plenty fans think Cashman and Boone suck but I’m sure most of those fans’ top priority for the team is to get a damn 3B, not for them to be sellers during prime Aaron Judge years.

  11. We need to change our lineup to be better at situational hitting. Our problem is no one can bunt, move a runner over or get a sac fly with a running on third. Our middle and bottom part of the lineup have to be fundamental better. Move runners over, bunt. This is why we lose in extra innings so much. Once again, we are a homerun-reliant team. Like we have been for the last 15 years. We need better all around players. Good defence good fielding goes a long way. Think about what Tex did for us last worlds series run. Great defense, smart hitter.

  15. I haven’t heard anyone say rebuild. However, the fire Boone crowd’s point is we have seen this the last three years. There is something that changes when the calendar turns to June. The Yankees turn to shit. We have had different players go through this slump. The one constant is Boone.

  16. This take is an insult. People looking for changes in the leadership are not calling for them because of the last 3 weeks. They are calling for their heads because somehow this team who keeps changing players finds themselves with the exact same issues year over year for the last decade: Huge slumps, poor base running, not being able to manufacture runs, poor defense and on and on. At some point you have to look at those in charge of constructing and leading the team as the issue.

  17. Nobody thinks this team should rebuild. For one, we don’t have many pieces people would want. Who are we trading? Grisham? Maybe Bellinger but he has a player option so that’s always risky if he struggles or gets hurt. Goldy is a platoon and getting paid a lot. Stanton has 0 value. Everyone else is locked on long term deals or is young enough where they fit a rebuild situation.

    This team is what it is. A lineup of young players and veterans with their only big problem being the pitching. One 3B isn’t going to fix much. The bullpen is atrocious. The rotation is Fried and Rodon vs lineups that can’t hit lefties, and then nothing. Cash has done a terrible job with the resources he has.

    But dear lord being offended at the notion Boone or Cashman should go is insane.

    Boone runs out a team with horrible fundamentals and decision-making every single year. Worst baserunning team in the league consistently. Has the anti-magic touch with in-game decisions.

    And Cashman…what else can be said? In the last two decades he has two pennants and one title. That’s not good enough when you have unlimited resources like the Yankees. Any semi-competent GM could do as well if not better.

    As long as this many people in Yankeedom keep gaslighting everyone else pretending that this FO and coaching staff are good and not just grifting off of past success and a generational player, this team is going nowhere.

  21. Company man. Yankees are going on 16 years without a title despite having a top payroll every year. George would have fired this group five times over. Everybody in the organization cares more about keeping their jobs than winning.

  26. Seriously, as bad as this stretch has been, they still have a chance to turn it around. Their stretch last year lasted until the end of July when they came back in the 9th in Boston with Grisham getting the tying hit. They’re only 3 games back. Have a good week to head into the ASB and regroup.

  28. How is wanting Cashman gone an overreaction? By the boundaries of time and space it literally can’t be because he’s been in the role so long. The guy has been the GM since I started kindergarten. And I have a mortgage and two kids now.

  36. Remember – a big part of how Brian cashman stays in power is controlling the media narrative. And Michael Kay is a prime tool for accomplishing this.

    Yankees can’t develop players for shit. Aaron judge had to go outside the org to remake his swing. Spencer jones went to the same guy this offseason.

    But look at volpe and how much regression is there, Greg bird, Clint Frazier and even gleyber – who looked like he was headed to monument park after his first two seasons and then got booted out of town. And now starting the ASG with comments like ‘feeling more support than he ever has.’

  38. It’s frustrating to see promising players being shuffled around without clear strategy. Hopefully, some solid leadership and a few smart moves can turn things around this season.

  39. Raptors fired their coach of the year before he even had time to put it in his trophy room, picked up Kawhi Leonard, and won it all. We have our Kawhi Leonard (Fried + Goldy/Beli).

  44. I’ve not seen any calls to rebuild the team. I think Boone and Cashman should be fired. It’s not the current slump, either.

    For the money they have to not be competitive should be enough.

    Last year’s WS collapse should‘ve been enough.

    Missing the play-offs when they had the unanimous Cy Young winner should’ve been enough.

    Losing in the wild card when they had the new American league HR record holder should’ve been enough.

    They had one year recently where injuries didn’t matter, line-up didn’t matter. The team performed, but they needed a starter and didn’t get one thinking they could pick one up in the off-season and make a run. They didn’t. That should’ve been enough.

  47. A retool is definitely necessary. And this isn’t just a bad 3 week stretch. How we’ve been playing is exactly what we all thought this team was going to be when we saw the roster on paper. The team isn’t a World Series contender, and they’re getting old fast.
