Chaz Lanier Introductory Press Conference | PistonsTV

What about that? What allowed you to have that success? Yeah, I mean just being confidence kept me having a lot of confidence in myself. Um, taking that jump from North Florida to Tennessee. Um, my teammates had a lot of confidence in me and um, I mean, I knew I had put the work in and um, it was only a matter of time before I showed it on the floor at a high major level. Um, so once I saw it transpire, I just took it and ran with it. And, um, I feel like the same will be, um, here with the Detroit business hopefully. Um, just being a more mature guy. Um, I’ve been through it a little bit. So, um, just having experience and, um, being able to make that translate. Yeah, I mean um I knew that there was definitely mutual interest. Um me and my agent, we had talked a lot. So, we we really wanted to make sure we could get out here. Um I had a great workout and um I I had great interactions with everybody when I came out here to work out. Um just just a super great organization out here and um the the few days that I’ve been out here has been amazing. They’ve treated me well, great hospitality, and we just been getting after in practice. Yeah, I mean, definitely a lot of emotions. I had a lot of my family and friends there with me in Nashville. Um, it was just a surreal feeling. It still doesn’t feel real. Um, it’s just been all a blessing. Um, it’s been happening fast, but it’s just been a blessing. What do you bring to yourself? Yeah, as a more mature guy, um I feel like I can step in and play immediately. I mean, I feel like they had a great year last year. So, just being able to do whatever they need me to do. Um come in, make shots when I need to. Um and when whenever I get on the floor, make sure I’m playing defense, playing hard. Um that’s a given for sure to get on any NBA floor. So, play hard on defense, and um when I get my opportunity, just take full advantage of it. Yeah, just having fun out there. Um, going and playing my game, getting to mesh with the guys. Um, Ron and Tou and DJ, a lot of the guys we’ve been practicing with. Um, but going out there playing my game and having fun and just getting used to the NBA style of play. What’s it like for you know a little bit? Yeah, I mean super exciting. He was my PG um at Tennessee. Um, great player. Um, I love Zakai a lot. So, it’s it’s definitely definitely an exciting feeling being able to play with him and um just a great opportunity that’s been a good experience just getting here so far. Your interaction with the teams stood out to you about how they welcome you in the city of Detroit. Yeah, I mean when we first got to the hotel, um I had all of my family here and there was a lot of gear laid out in the room and um my dad took off his clothes immediately and put on the Detroit Pistons clothes and we went walking down the street and just walking around um downtown Detroit and um I mean everybody’s just been super nice to me and my family Yeah, I mean um it means a lot coming from Nashville, Tennessee. It’s it’s a lot of people supporting me back home. um family, friends, just the city. Um and then being able to put the Pistons on my on my chest and um I know that means a lot to the people out here in Michigan and the Pistons fans. So um I’m not going to let him down and I’m going to give my all every day. How do you think playing like your game? Yeah, I mean just from watching his film, he makes the game so much easier for the guys around him. Um he’s able to create for himself and um create for other people on the floor and um he’s just super vocal and he’s a leader. How much were you watch? Yeah, I mean I’ve been watching him um since he was at Oklahoma State and then when he got to the NBA I’ve been definitely tuned in watching him. Um I mean he’s super great player. He’s allar. Um he makes the game so much easier for everybody around him. Um and you can just tell he’s a leader from the film. Is that what you pride yourself on? Yeah, I mean, um, I’m a shooter for sure. That’s what I hang my hat on, putting the ball in the basket. Um, but I feel like at the NBA level, you have to be able to first make an impact on defense, and that’s how I’mma make my hay. Um, just to get on the floor, it’s by playing defense first. Yeah, I mean I’ve been playing basketball ever since I could walk. Um my dad played at Lipkcom and my mom played at Alorn State. So, um they put the ball in my hand super early. Um I just remember a lot of times I’d be outside in the front yard with my dad playing basketball. Um he he’s the one who taught me how to shoot. He’s the one who taught me how to play defense. So, um I mean I’m I’m in a special position. Um they’re they’re supporting me a lot and it means a lot to be able to play at the highest level now. Thank you all.
