The Pittsburgh Steelers Have Two Giant SLEEPERS Breaking Out…. | Steelers News |

With NFL training camp just two weeks away, the Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to shock the world this season. They believe that this roster with the additions they have made is good enough to make the playoffs and potentially even compete for a Super Bowl. And they believe that. At the same time, there are some coaches and the front office over here in Pittsburgh right now. They believe they have two of the biggest sleepers in the NFL starting to take over a little bit. Right now, in this video, we’re going to discuss all of mandatory mini camp and OTAAS and rookie mini camp. I want to show you these two players that are slowly taking over, slowly showcasing what they can bring to this football team. And man, are you guys going to love it. So, before we dive in, I want you to comment down below your own two players. Now, in terms of who do you think is going to lead this team in touchdowns outside of obviously Aaron Rogers? Um, and also, who do you think is going to lead this team in force turnovers defensively? So, let me know in the comments down below. Now, the first player on my list, don’t worry, it is not Aaron Rodgers, but there is a player I believe that Aaron Rogers is going to love to throw the ball to. Now, when you go back to the New York Jet days, um you know, Aaron Rogers loved to throw the ball deep. Right now, whenever you’re covering or going up against a Tampa 2 defense, which is essentially you have a deep safety uh over here, right? You have your deep safety over here. They’re in halves. You got your mid read. You got your hook curl, you got a hook curl, and then you got these cloud flats. Could be hard flats as well, right? Whenever you’re facing a defense like this, you want to attack those seams, right? Especially if you have a guy getting to the outside over here and maybe a tight end on a wheel over here, th those guys are going to attract these safeties to come down, right? So, if you can attack that seam, which again, I think the Steelers have a guy they’re going to love. Take a look at this play here as Aaron Rogers drops back in the pocket. You’re going to see him look a little bit over to the right, right? You got this guy in motion. Looks like they’re setting up a little bit of a screen here. So, these guys tend trend downward. And then watch this, right? Once he sees this safety take a step up and not back, he’s throwing this football no matter what. And I think there’s a guy on this Pittsburgh Steeler team that might not be obviously as dynamic as Devonte Adams, but man, can he beat guys down the field like this. Okay, let’s talk about who it is. Okay, now obviously you guys don’t know already. It is Calvin Austin. I believe this dude’s fit in the offense alongside Aaron Rodgers could be deadly. The first thing that we notice about this formation, guys, is we have one deep safety. Okay? And notice how he is cheating to the opposite side of the field, right? He’s not like over here. He’s on the other side, which means it looks like you potentially have man-to-man coverage. And if you put man-to-man coverage on Calvin Austin, good luck. Okay, so look at this. We are going to see the hips of 22 opened up to the middle of the field. We’re going to act like we’re going to attack it and then boom, just go right by him. Cuz at the end of the day, there’s no over the help or over the top help at all. You turn that safety around, that DB around and boom, throw the football up. Calvin Austin is going to outrun a ton of players, ton of people. Um, you know, and I’m excited about how he’s going to fit with Aaron Rogers in this offense. I think Aaron Rogers is a a much better passer accuracy-wise than anything that the Steelers have had. Um, even though Russell Wilson’s deep balls are not, they’re actually pretty damn good. I do believe Calvin Austin is going to feast feast in single high safety coverages. I mean, once again, look at safeties are moved up tight, right? They’re closer to the line of scrimmage. They’re not playing off, which is huge, especially if you have a guy like Calvin Austin. First thing we notice, well, looks like this DB is taking inside leverage on Calvin Austin, at least initially, right? As things start to motion over, he still has that inside leverage. I want you guys to watch Calvin Austin on this play. Watch this one more time. First thing we notice, safeties are not immediately backpedaling. They’re kind of staying still. Russell Wilson does a great job looking over the tight end because the linebacker turns his back away from the quarterback. We open up this DB’s hips to the sidelines and we want to take that middle of the field. If Russell Wilson can manipulate this safety down, well, guess what? Boom. You have a massive weapon over the top, over the middle of this defense. And that is exactly what happens. Again, great job by Calvin Russell. Everything on this play just worked out perfectly. And again, I know I’m getting repetitive, but I believe that uh Aaron Rogers, who’s really good at manipulating DBs, I think, or in secondary uh linebackers, second level defenders, I think he’s going to be able to do this a ton. And I think Calvin Austin is going to be explosive, especially because now you have, let’s just say, DK Mechaf on one side, which is going to move safeties over from here to over here. And if he’s running a go ball, you’re going to see that safety shadow, right? You’re going to see him go over there, which opens up that middle either way. I’m excited about Calvin Austin. But there is another guy that is really being slept on right now. Now, the player I have on my list is another offensive player. Okay, everybody’s sleeping on him. Everybody slept on him in the draft, and I feel like a lot of people are going to absolutely regret it. Are you looking forward to doing the same thing with Will Howard here? I am. I am. Uh Will’s a good kid. Uh we’ve uh got to talk a little bit. I thought he did really well today, you know. Uh he’s he seems pretty bright. Uh not too big for him going through the progressions really well. Um but yeah, I mean I’m going to be with him every single day and every single meeting. Uh found my seat next to him today in the offensive meeting. I whether or not that sticks right next to Will Howard. So I’m going to help him out as much as I can. Now, obviously Aaron Rogers will be a good mentor for Will Howard because just look at Jordan Love, right? Jordan Love is one of the best quarterbacks, maybe top 15, top 10 at this point in time after sitting behind Aaron Rogers for a couple of seasons. We all know that, right? Um, but Will Howard is just a little bit different. I feel like he was I mean, obviously coming off a national championship, uh, was really good in the Chip Kelly offense. He did have some great weapons, don’t get me wrong. Um, but this dude should have probably gone in the third to fourth round. At least leadership wise, I think he might have been the best quarterback in this draft, right? As a leader, as someone who uh could come in here and just lead his team in the huddle, right? Understand where to be, where his guys need to be, and just help out, right? I think Will Howard is that type of guy. And if he can develop as a as a passer, dude, this this league messed up. Now, sadly, I can’t show too many highlights of Will Howard uh from college because the NC NCAA is very, you know, they they just take everything. If you put anything about, you know, their college football season, um any highlights at all, they’ll they’ll take them. So, uh and they’ll ban the video. So, I can’t show any of that, which I wanted to do in this video, but I cannot do that. Um but I just want to say he is another guy that I think is going to break out. Not not this year obviously, but I do think he could be the future quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers if they develop him right now. I am going to end the video here, but if you guys want a part two where I maybe try to break down some of his college film, let me know in the comments. But those are my two potential sleepers that could eventually be big time players here. I think Calvin Austin more is more of a this year type of guy. I think could have maybe six to seven touchdowns of of just debombs alone. Um, but I also think um that he’s probably going to get 700 to 800 yards within this offense.
