Jordan Walsh: Celtics Fans Will LOVE Hugo Gonzalez | Practice Interview

you’re kind of the veteran going out to Vegas the summer camp. What What are your expectations? What would you like to accomplish at for yourself and the team as you go out there? Um well, first I’m a vet now. That feels kind of nice. Um I mean I just obviously the biggest thing is just to win. Obviously we want to win. Um I want the guys to have fun. I want us to enjoy it. You know, some people this is their first time first time being a Celtic, first time going to Vegas. So just want us to go out with a mentality of playing together, play together to win, have fun, and then you know, just enjoy it. What’s it been like to go through the departures seeing these guys leave? Chris Stabs, Drew, Luke, and everyone else. How difficult has it been? Yeah, it’s been tough. It’s been It’s been really tough. I’ve I’ve sent a couple texts out, you know, talk to some of the guys, you know, wish them the best. But then it’s always tough whenever you’re losing guys you’re really close with, especially really good dudes. All those guys are really good people, really good locker room guys, as well as players. So, it’s it’s always tough to see them go, but you got to you got to wish them the best. Jordan, it seemed like last year’s summer league it was ultimately beneficial, but it didn’t really go the way you wanted to going into it. This time around, what do you want to accomplish going there? Um, well, I just want I want to be a better player than I was last year. Um, you know, in every facet, I felt like I forced a lot. I feel like my my mentality wasn’t in the right place and so I’m I’m moving into this summer league with a better mentality and a better focus of what’s important and what I need to do to be successful. How would you describe that difference? like what kind of areas are you trying to focus on so you’re not forcing it as much? I think I think when I went into it last year, I was kind of going in with the mentality of like trying to be like Jason Tatum or be Jaylen Brown when it was like, you know, that’s not the same team. That’s not who I am. Like I’m not those guys. So like now I’m going with the mentality of being me, be the best player I can be to to like affect winning in every every way of the game. As far as Matt Ben, I know you’ve played with him now for two years. What’s your relationship like with him and what are your early impressions? Yeah, it definitely feels a little different looking at him as a head coach, but he’s doing a great job, honestly. And uh it’s fun. It’s interesting. He’s a good He’s a good dude, obviously, but he’s he’s a good coach. It’s it’s cool to see him in that position that kind of get that step. Jordan, we’ve seen the uh we’ve seen the work you’ve put in on your jump shot. How do you feel like it’s come along over the years? And where do you feel like you’re at right now with it? I feel like it’s it’s coming along great. I feel like I’ve I’m now making a lot more shots, shooting it with a lot more confidence. I think the team has more confidence in me, the players, the coaches, everybody. Um, I mean, I’m being encouraged to take these these shots and I I feel like every time I shoot it is going in. I feel like that’s that’s the first biggest part of it, you know, just feeling like every shot’s going in. And then from there, just doing as much as you can to make sure it actually goes in. Is that a relatively new feeling? The confidence there, I would say. So, for sure. How do you say practice? He plays hard, like really hard. So, I fans are going to love that he’s he plays hard. He dives on the floor. He’s a defensive menace and then he attacks he attacks the rim with force. I think everybody knows that, but that was my first time seeing him play and be able to watch it and go against it. He got me one time. Um, it’s it’s been cool for sure. Final question for Jordan.
