BREAKING: The Edmonton Oilers acquire Isaac Howard from the Tampa Bay Lightning
All right, instant reaction time. I am in my car. Uh, the Oilers just landed Isaac Howard from the Tampa Bay Lightning. There had been rumblings about this for a little while, but they make it official. They got the Hobie Baker winner. He was voted the best player in college hockey last year. Had 26 goals in 37 games with Michigan State University. He is very, very good. He was the late first round pick like three years ago, but his stock is absolutely sore. The only reason he’s available is because there were contract issues with Tampa Bay. He basically said, “I’m not playing for the Lightning because of the way he was treated, I guess, in the contract negotiations.” But the Oilers land him and they give up Sam O’Reilly. I’m really surprised the Oilers parted ways with Sam O’Reilly. Um, 32nd overall pick last year. Had a great year in the OHL. I still think he’s going to be an NHLer someday, but Howard can jump into the NHL next season. I’m honestly surprised the cost was even this high, but Edmonton obviously sees something in Howard. They got him signed to a three-year entry- level deal and he’s ready to play in the NHL starting next season. I think it’s a good deal.

Giving up O’Reilly was a big mistake
LETS GOOOOO
Yah
I think this is a good deal. Howard is a great prospect who will bring a bit of swagger to this team. I am surprised that the Oilers gave up Sam O’Reilly simply because they obviously liked him enough to trade into the first round of the draft to select him and he seems to be developing well. That being said, I do like this move for the Oilers because I feel Howard is that good
ICE MAN
Wow. I can't believe Tampa got O'Reilly. It'll be interesting to see how Howard looks this coming season.
let’s go! Sad to lose SOR, but Howard fits for the here and now
Everyone is very very good
Howard and savoie on Leon’s wing? Maybe they work together and you can stick nuge with them when you want to go nuclear
Trading the future for the present, guess that’s gotta be the mindset in the cup window.
I really liked O Reilly, perfect 3rd line center. Wish it was a first round pick and maybe like a 3rd instead but i really like howard
