2025 NFL Yearbook: Indianapolis Colts
RIC and a place to be. Rick Saratella count you down with 32 teams in 32 days leading up to the Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton. Coming in at number 21 on our NFL preseason power poll are the Indianapolis Colts who were eight and nine a season ago under head coach Shane Stiken. Uh offensive mastermind coach with the 13th ranked offense and the 29th ranked defense a year ago. And you know, the big story coming into Indianapolis training camp obviously is going to be the quarterback competition. And with Anthony Richardson suffering that injury, missing a good portion of the OTAAS, and really uh unknown certain uncertain status as we head into training camp here in terms of how healthy he will be. One thing I can tell you, Daniel Jones is going to put his nose in the playbook and learn the terminology and be prepared. So, I’m putting Daniel Jones as the leader in this QB race. I expect him to be under center for week one. Anthony Richardson, six and five as a starter last season. Joe Flacco, two and four in his six games started. Now, they’re going to have to continue to lean on Jonathan Taylor, who is still a workhorse. He averaged 4.7 yards per carry, over,400 yards rushing. You add Tyler Warren to the equation, and I think now you have a power scheme attack. That’s a powerful human being that Tyler Warren and while the uh wide receiver of corpse is adequate, they do have some playmakers in Michael Pitman, Alec Pierce, Josh DS. So, there’s some weapons to spread the ball around. Uh can they really, you know, compete with the premier offenses of the AFC? We shall see. Uh the defense needs some improvement. Zier Franklin led the league with 173 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five force fumbles, six pass deflections. I mean, he is one of the best defenders in the National Football League. Quitty pay to far Buckner bringing that pass rush. They did sign Chavarius Ward at quarterback and Cam Bind him at safety to try to solidify that defense. However, eight and nine and eight, that’s about as good as I see this Indianapolis Colts team. I think they’re stuck for another year of mediocrity and I could see them selecting quarterback in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft. Rick Saratella for allaccess.com.
