Schmaltz is very in tune with the Blues and with players around the league and has broken several big hockey stories in recent years.

  1. Lol have fun keeping Bryam then. There’s no way hes worth what theyre probably asking for him.

  2. I will never blame a player for chasing his bag, but Byram simply is not worth above 8 million.
There is a reason he was traded, there is a reason we tested him outside Dahlin.

    Maybe move Power up w/Dahl.
Trade Byram and picks for another top 4 LHD.
Easier said than done but id rather cap flexibility and depth.

  3. Anyone else feel like its a jerk move to go after someone’s name? Like the guy didn’t name himself. I get he sucks, but let’s not just attack every aspect of the guy.

  4. How does the price go up when the amount of buyers has gone down?

Find me teams that both have the cap space and need a top 4 LHD.

  5. Sounds like his agent trying to stir shit up again. Can’t wait for arbitration.

  6. Byram will be here opening night.

And we will be on Byram watch every day until the trade deadline passes and he’s still here.

  7. Anybody else think of the old bald guy on breaking bad x jarmo ..like jarmos just standing behind gmka telling all the other gms that they are bitches and todays price is not yesterdays price lol..I am encouraged that he is having an impact here

  8. Why the f would anyone give a shit what this ass clown says? If he’s going after the spelling of a guy’s name, he’s obviously taken more than one puck to the dome.

  9. I mean, it makes sense. Now that offer sheets are off the table, the team has even more leverage.

  10. Guy with a girl’s name just projecting and “trailer park” is probably as clever as his pea-sized brain can go.

  11. You know what’s a lot trashier than spelling your name in an unconventional way? Denigrating someone’s name in the middle of your (supposedly professional) coverage.

Sounds like Adams is doing the right thing here. I was never convinced that a Byram trade to my other two teams (Flames/Blues) made sense- not because Bo isn’t a hell of a player and a potentially good fit, but because a deal to Buffalo was tough asset-wise.

Hope you guys get a haul for him.

  12. Interesting combo of this person having connections to the Blues and doing a petty insult on Adams, which strangely for me gives this take a bit more credibility. Almost as if people in the Blues front office shared how much of a pain in the ass Adams is to deal with, which could just be not getting rolled over like they expected, and this is a projection of that.

I think for sure there is a lack of respect by other GMs and agents towards Adams and with how easily he folded on Peterka the sense there was blood in the water. I could see the game being played here is the Byram camp threatened to sign an offer sheet and thinking the Sabres wouldn’t go to arbitration for fear of allowing Byram to walk to UFA. But the Sabres did go to arbitration and now the options for Byram are limited. He is not going to get a good AAV award because his numbers don’t justify it and now, unless the Sabres trade him, the longest contract he can sign is 2 years with that low AAV. With his concussion history and only making just over $10 million to date, Byram now has a lot of risk in front of him. Now instead of guaranteed generational wealth like a $50 million contract (which is the logic Tage used when he signed his deal) he is now only guaranteed life changing wealth. For fans both are amazing but if you consider the perspective of the player, it could be devastating to miss out on that opportunity now and have to take on the risk of the 2 year deal. Or, maybe not.

I’m hopeful Jarmo has his hands on this situation. I think a great case to justify at worst for the Sabres is having Byram play out his 2 years here and walk him to UFA is the fact that for 1 lottery pick in 2017 they have gotten so far 439 games and 233 points and now should get at least 150 more games over the next two seasons and if two seasons of Byram result in making the playoffs and bridging the development gap for players like Novikov, Komarov and maybe Johnson giving them more time to cook in Rochester, the value of that one lottery pick was good but not great. Considering the Mitts pick could have been Cody Glass or Lias Andersson as a worse case, it’s not a horrible result.

  13. schmaltz
Schmaltz comes from Yiddish shmalts and German Schmaltz, with two meanings: “liquid animal fat, especially chicken fat,” and by extension “exaggerated sentimentalism.”

Someone got picked on as a child, lol.

  14. Good. Rather keep him at thus point. Schmaltzy has a pickle up his butt

  15. idk where along the line we started acting like it’s a big GM failure if Byram is still on the roster in October. we *should* want the price to be high. we need our team to be better after a trade that moves Byram than we were before, and if no team is able to do that for us, then it’s in the best interest of the Sabres to simply have Byram skating with Dahlin on opening night. i don’t think this situation is as precarious as people are acting.

  16. Guy’s tweet almost reads like he’s upset that Kevyn won’t fleece himself and is perfectly content with paying Byram (Like he said he was).

  17. Breaking: Dude with the last name of Schmaltz feels overconfident about throwing shade at other people’s names.

  18. “like he was conceived in a trailer park” has me giggling at work in my cubicle

  19. His price can be whatever he wants it to be. If it goes to arbitration, he doesn’t get to choose his price.

  20. Interesting to hear that Calgary met Buffalo’s asking but not Byram’s

  21. He conveniently left out the fact that “trailer park” Kevyn also won a Stanley Cup.

  22. Schmaltz is far from the finest mind in hockey so anything he tweets doesn’t really have any weight

  23. I mean I do at least appreciate that we have leverage for once unlike O’Reilly, Eichel, and Reinhart
