Law of averages says they’re not gonna keep drafting as well as they have, and they’ll be dabbling with the constraints of 2nd apron hell real quick.

You love to see it.

  1. I don’t think it’s good news for us. Still enough time for them to get a threepeat

  2. It’ll be interesting, but they are set up about as good as possible for the situation they are in. They still have some impressive draft capital to keep adding young players.

  3. Yeah, they’re going to have to take a hit in a couple years. They won’t be able to keep their defensive mainstays and other teams will overtake them.

  4. If I was an OKC fan I would still feel really good about where they’re at haha

  5. Until they trade off a contract and either upgrade by including some of their 11 FRP, or use those kicks to draft their new guys. The future is not good for the western conference

  6. If ANT learned to flop like SGA and got his baby soft whistle, is he an MVP candidate?

  7. Great news that they have everyone locked in for the next 3 years (a window where WE basically need to win – or our #1 will start looking elsewhere) Ok chief

  8. Don’t they have a shit ton of picks though? I know what you mean by law of averages but they don’t need to hit more than once or twice to still be contenders every year.

  9. Good news for OKC to lock up 3 young players who just won a championship. 2 of them were all-nba and one was MVP. Not sure how this is good news for a Timberwolves team with a higher payroll and only won 49 games last year.

  10. They’ll be fine and just pay the bill. They’ll learn from their last run with KD, Westbrook, and Harden. In fact post Durant they were significant tax payers from 2017-2019 and that team wasn’t near a title contender.

Then the 1st and 2nd apron punitive roster building restrictions don’t really mean as much if you’ve got a capable rotation already in house.

Plus they will have a surplus of picks to supplement the roster around the core.

  11. They’ll lose dort, Wallace and hart after this year. Caruso will be like 33. They do have draft picks to fall back on but they can’t trade for some star making 40-60M

  12. Why do teams feel obligated to do this? Why give a player a max contract when they don’t have that kind of impact on the game.

Yes he’s a shot blocker but his performance in the finals

    15.2 & 8.7

    Reg season 15 & 8

If that’s worth 50 mil a yr the NBA is cooked.

Now JDub can and for a get wayyy more because he’s actually more important then Chet to the thunders gameplan.

Best part is the Thunder won’t be able to keep them together for long. 👍🏾

  13. They’ve got team options on Dort and ihart next year. They already have their replacements on the roster. Oh and they are also loaded with first round picks. Okc is just fine unfortunately

  14. We all knew OKC having to pay their players were going to catch up to them at some point.

The scary thing about OKC is their draft picks and GM quality. Even if they want to move on from Chet and he’s “untradable” as you say they can package him with draft picks and move on whenever they need.

We all knew this day was going to come, it just wasn’t expected to happen so soon. Just sucks they’re so unwatchable and disgraceful to basketball with their flopping and bullshit otherwise it would be cool to watch.

  15. Shut up you OKC apologists. You OKC don’t they have first rounders!? IT HAS BEGUN. THE DOWNFALL IS UPON US.

God. I wish they hadn’t gotten a title.

  16. They still have a ton of picks. Now it’s up to them to keep finding stars. The real question is going to be if their owner is willing to pay the luxury tax.

  17. I’d take any future situation as long as we get one title someday lol

  18. I hate it tbh. OKC did everything right in terms of teambuilding, yet the new CBA makes it impossible for them to keep the team together. this shouldn’t be how it works.

  19. They have the refs in their pockets, foul and flop team. The first flopper superstar to win a ring. Even better flopper players like harden, embiid, flopic, butler and cp3 never won a ring as the best player.

  20. This is legit terrible news. Not until 2028?! We’re boned lmao. They’re built to counter our team

  21. I think they take up more of the cap than that. SGA’s is 35%, and Jdubs and Chet’s are 25% if there’s don’t get all nba the next 2 seasons. So it’s at least 85%, but can go up to 95% if both of them meet the proper award criteria. One of Chet or jdub is getting traded in the next 2 years, or they’re going to have to try to make a revolving door of rookies work.
